HP Photosmart 7550 not compatible--suggestions?
I recently purchased a MacBook and I just tried to print photos on my HP Photosmart 7550. It would appear that it is not compatible. Frankly, I have never had a good relationship with this printer, so my heart is not broken. But, I am concerned about the compatibility of a MacBook with whatever I buy next, so I'm hoping for some testimonials and/or advice. I need a printer that will print documents and/or photos, so not one of those "mini" printers. I have considered an all-in-one that also scans, vacuums, and makes dinner.

espgs-7.07.1.ppc.dmg (5.4 MB)
Then download and install this package:
hpijs-foomatic-2.0.2.ppc.dmg (1.6 MB) .
Now you should be able to connect the HP Photosmart 7550 to the Mac and print on it!

I was using OS Snow Leopard and on 8/1/13 I downloaded Mountain Lion. Then I found out it was not compatible with my HP Printer (HP Photosmart C5580 all-in-one) so I called Apple support and the tech told me to erase the hard drive instead of going in the time machine. Well I did that and then it took about three hours three days a week for about three weeks on the phone with an apple tech to get all my stuff back on my computer. I have had trouble with my printer (won't do the scan anymore and wasn't printing on my DVDs. Also the computer keeps freezing up when it is in the sleep mode, etc.
When I tried to list my problem on this forum it lists your OS at the bottom and mine had Mountain Lion listed as what I was using so apparently it didn't erase it. Want to know how to get Mountain Lion off and put my Snow Leopard on so things start working right.Go to the menu/About This Mac - what OS version shows there?
Do a backup, preferably 2 separate ones on 2 separate drives.
Revert to a Previous OS X
Revert to Snow Leopard
If you do revert, I'd use Setup Assistant to restore your data. This process takes a while, so do it when you won't need the computer for several hours, based on my experience. -
I cannot backup my iphone, it keeps telling me the backup is corrupt and not compatible. All forums have suggested I delete the last backup but that was months ago and I'm afraid if I do that and it still doesn't work, I won't have anything saved. Can anyone help?

I'm unable to backup my iphone. It is saying 'iTunes could not backup because the backup was corrupt or not compatible with the i Phone.' i deleted my previous back up but it still isn't helping. Any suggestions ?

Delete the entire Backup folder if there is anything at all in it. -
Just purchased and downloaded pe 13. While installing, I found out pe13 is not compatible with my OSX 7.5 system. Any Idea's on how to swap for pe 12? It's not available on the Adobe web site. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

Adobe is not going to swap 13 for 12. It is selling only 13 download as you found out. So, you are going to have to purchase 12 if you want to use that program. It may still be available at some retail locations, such as Amazon.

Thanks for the question. Based on what you stated, it seems like you are having trouble with a bluetooth connection. If it is happening with just a mouse or keyboard I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help you resolve or isolate the issue.

Thanks for that. Much more constructive than the last comment. It's only the restriction code I can't recall, not the access passcode. So I can currently access the device, just not age restricted content. Does that's make a difference? I also wondered if anyone knew how many attempts you get to try to get it right. Now tried 21 times and so far nothing bad has happened but I am concerned I'll eventually be completely locked out of the device. That doesn't seem in the spirit of things though. Surely it's foreseeable that a child could repeatedly try to guess the code so I can't see that it would be right to lock the device down completely in that circumstance, particularly if the access code is being typed in correctly every time.

ASP suggests alternative part, IBM says they're not compatible - who's right?

I've got T60p, recently fan has started to produce some loud noises. I took a look inside, carefully cleaned it up, but no change,I'm pretty sure the fun is just failing.
The laptop is in warranty, so no problem except I use it quite extensively and prefer the repair to be as quick as possible. I got in touch with an Authorized IBM Service Provider which was willing to replace fan in an hour time. That would mean no mailing hassle, no weeks long waiting, etc., just great!
But... (there're always buts?..)
The laptop type is 2007-8JG, according to the Hardware Maintenance Manual the fan part number is 41W6407. But the Service Provider claims it's not possible anymore to order the 41W6407 (because it's obsolete) and instead they are to order an alternative, compatible one (part number 41V9932).
I am aware that these numbers are important and tiny differences between parts could result in serious hardware problems. Especially when it comes to cooling systems... And that is why I do prefer to have the one listed in the manual.
I called IBM Technical Support, the agent was not able to answer the question straight, but promised to discuss it with the engineers and get back to me later. They called me back the same day and the official answer is 'though both parts are very similar they're not compatible'.
Would you believe the SP in such a situation? 'Instant' repair is a strong temptation...But on the other hand IBM is suppose to know better what's good for their laptops, right?.. So I tend not to believe the Service Provider...

Having looked at the parts list you need the 41W6407. Other machines are listed against the 41V9932.
For whatever reason the fans are different; I would believe IBM.

My can i not get an updated driver for my Photosmart 7550 i have a MAC. I have had this priner for years and love the quality of the photos that is prints. my can HP not make just a photo printer anymore???? i have since bought the HP photosmart 7520 and the print quality is crap. please help

I read through your post about the concerns you're having with your Photosmart 7550 and 7520, and I am here to address them for you.
There areno available drivers for the PS 7550 on Yosemite, as the printer model is older, and Yosemite is quite new.
Your best bet would be to troubleshoot the Print Quality Issues on your PS 7520, as this model is compatible with 10.10. I would suggest trying all of the steps from this guide to help improve the Print Quality problems:

If you find that the troubleshooting does not help the PQ, call HP directly to see what your printer options are. You may need a replacement part or printer and technical support can help you in that category.

HP Photosmart 7550 driver for Windows 8.Where can I find a driver for this printer?
I have attempted all the available features on the HP site for this printer but nothing works. It seem HP don't support this printer any more. Does this mean i have to dispose of it?
The Deskjet 5550 or Deskjet 6540 drivers should be compatible with the Photosmart 7550.

I noticed your post about your Photosmart D6160 showing you an "Out of Ink" message, after you have replaced the ink cartridges. I have done some research and found a troubleshooting guide containing some steps I suggest trying. Please disregard the title name, as this issue/error is dealt with the same way.
If you have followed all of the steps and the ink is Genuine HP Ink and still under warranty, call HP's Technical Support to inquire about an exchange.

need lightroom 4.4 asmac is 10.6.8 and not compatible with anything higher. Does this come with the creative cloud? Would really like a disc but that doesn't seem to happen anymore. No; but then, I've not had occasion to use TDM. I've been using firerwire drives for over 10 years, both FW400 and FW800, with no issues except a bit of instability using a B&W G3 machine.
TDM should be safe. Using cautious, manual copying of files from the Target machine to the Host machine should not result in unexpected loss of files or damage to the Target drive's directories. It should behave exactly the same as if it were an external (to the Host) firewire drive.
• I don't suppose there is anything I can do to 'put back' lost items from a separate Time Machine drive which has an up to date backup on it.
There is probably a way to do that - seems to me that's one of the reasons for a Time Machine volume.
On the other hand, if the Time Machine volume is rigidly linked to the now-absent OS on the original drive, there may be no way to effectively access the files in the TM archive.
I know that using a cloned drive would work well in this instance.
I have no experience with Time Machine, so perhaps someone who has will chime in with suggestions.
With the machine in TDM with the other machine, have you tried running Disk Utility to see if you can effect repairs to the drive?
