HP Photosmart 7760

I just recently posted a question pertaining to my HP Photosmart 7760 printer not printing from my computer.  This is the same computer that the printer is connected to and always printed.  I just tried printing a test page when trouble shooting the printer, which the printer did print out fine. But, I cannot print anything else therefore not sure what settings might have been changed, etc.  I spoke two times yesterday with HP Tech Support and they kept telling me it was a hardware problem, that the printer needs to be replaced; it is broken.  Then they said it was an application problem but did not fix or resolve it, unfortunately.    The printer is not broken as it did print out the test page therefore it is working.   I just can't figure out why it won't print anything else and would appreciate any help so as to resolve this problem (it was working up until yesterday and I did not make any changes to the computer). Thank you.

Hi @godlesv
This document contains a list of HP printers that are supported in OS X v10.10 Yosemite.
Review the list to determine if your printer is supported in Yosemite. If your printer is supported in Yosemite, go to the HP drivers webpage to see if a full feature driver is available. If a full feature driver is not available, you can use the driver from Apple Software Update (ASU) to print; HP Printers Supported in OS X v10.10 Yosemite.
To save you from searching the list of printers, your printer is listed, it will work, but I recommend you take a look at the link above and scroll to the bottom. You will likely find the Frequently asked questions section very helpful
I hope this resolves your inquiry.

  • Needing .INF file for HP Photosmart 7760

    I have an HP7760 connected & shared on a Win7[64bit] desktop.
I am trying to print to the HP7760 from another LAN wired desktop AND from a wireless HP laptop.
"add network printer" DOES find the HP7760 but is asking for the .INF,.IN_ file for this printer.
PS:  I THINK the "solution" is in THIS .INF file if I could only figure out WHY the wizard doesn't like it

  • Printing from iMac G4 to HP Photosmart 7760 – Colors are heavy on pink side

    Hello~
We have an iMac G4 Flat Panel using OS 10.3.9 and are connected to the HP Photosmart 7760 Printer.
When we print directly from our camera card, the printer prints fine. True colors.
When we print using any software application, (ie Photoshop, iPhoto) the printer prints extremely heavy on the pink side. We have installed new cartridges, have cleaned and calibrated the printer, have unplugged and restarted the printer and still to no avail we have pink tinted photographs.
    Could someone help please?

  • Photosmart 7760 driver compatibility for Windows 7?

I want to migrate from Vista to Windows 7, with a Photosmart 7760 as my primary printer. This model number is not listed in the HP Driver Compatibility Table for Windows 7. Does that mean there is no compatible driver, or is it included in another "family"?

  • "Error" shows up in the HP photosmart 7760 status line

I have a MacBook Pro and I'm running Mac OS 10.6.4.  My printer was operating fine yesterday.  Today for some idiotic reason, I thought that I should install the old original software that came with the 5 year old photosmart 7760 printer.  Since, I can't print.  Every effort results in the same "Error"  message coming up in the print utility Status box.  I've tried diagnostics recommended on the HP page.  No difference.  Any ideas?
    Thanks, Rob

Try downloading the XP driver file from this link.  If that works then your browser settings are probably causing ftp:// transfers to fail.  The link above replaces the ftp:// link with the same address at an http:// link.  This allows download of files that might otherwise be blocked.

  • Photosmart 7760 drivers not visible after manual install, blocking network access

    Hello --
I have an HP Photosmart 7760 installed and working on a Mac Mini connected to a wired ethernet LAN. The printer has been configured to be shared by the Mac and I am able to print to it from other Macs. However, I am unable to install this shared network printer on Windows XP despite being otherwise able to connect to the Mac Mini from the XP machine.
When going through the Add Printer wizard on XP, I am able to browse to and see the printer on the Mini. After double-clicking the printer, I get:
You are about to connect to a printer on MINI, which will automatically install a print driver on your machine.  Printer drivers may contain viruses or scripts that can be harmful to your computer.  It is important to be certain that the computer sharing this printer is trustworthy.  Would you like to continue?
I click Yes and then get:
The server for the printer does not have the correct printer driver installed.  If you want to search for the proper driver, click OK.  Otherwise, click Cancel and contact your network administrator or original equipment manufacturer for the correct printer driver.
I then click OK and browse through the list of printer manufacturers to HP, but don't see any Photosmart printers in the printer list (lots of Deskjets, Paintjets, Officejets, etc).
I have downloaded and installed the XP drivers by hand, (HP Photosmart Printer Software and Driver version 5.3 from http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?os=228&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&product=305375.) However, I still am not able to see the appropriate driver
    My questions:
    1. Is there an alternate way to install these drivers (e.g. via the Have Disk button) such that they will appear in the above printer list?
    2. If not, is there an alternate printer I can use that will work from XP with a network-attached 7760?
    3. Barring the above, are there any other things anyone can recommend I try in order to resolve this?
    Thanks!
    Regard,
    Ramon

    Hello thecousin,
you have tried a lot of things and if you are sure that the problem is not hardware (sometimes even when the lights are blinking there might be a problem with the hardware itself) i recommend you to do the following:
    1. Try to reinstall the network driver (download new/latest one from Lenovo.com) and see if this could help.
    2. Try to think of any software you have installed prior to the problems... some software might be affecting your network settings/connections
    3. Sometimes i have seen problems with the windows "services" so you might have a look there (it is in the control panel/administrative tools/services) and see what is started and what isn't
    4. Well the last one would be to reinstall the OS
    Good Luck

  • Which win7 .inf file should be used for a photosmart 7760?

I have a Photosmart 7760 attached to a Win XP machine.  I have a new 64-bit Win7 machine and I'm trying to set up printing from this machine.  Windows keeps telling me that it can't find a driver for the printer.  HP says I need to use a driver from Windows update.  I've found several hp related .inf files on the win7 machine, but none mention the photosmart 7760.  Which one, if any should I try to enable me to print to this printer?
BTW, Win7 machine dual boots with linux.  There's no problem printing when booted in linux.

  • Sharing Photosmart 7760 from Win7 to Vista and XP

My current setup is the Photosmart 7760 is attached via USB to my desktop running Win7 Pro x64. I have two laptops 1 running Vista Home 32bit and the other XP Home Media 32bit. I have been able to add the shared printer to the Vista laptop but continue to get a missing driver error when trying to add the printer to the XP laptop. I have tried to add the additional drivers under Win7 but I'm unable to locate the x86 drivers. I have tried installing the driver for XP and finding it that way but no luck. I'm sure it's something I have overlooked as I see others are sucessfully able to share to XP, but I'm at wits end. Thanks in advance!

I had the same problem, more or less.  New desktop with Windows 7 where my 7760 is installed, old laptop with Windows XP that I would like to have share access to the printer.  I finally figured out how to do it, though the solution is far from ideal.  It would be nice if HP simply made the drivers easily accessible...
I'm writing this out from memory, so some of the menu selections may be a bit off in wording.  The gist of them is right though, you shouldn't have any trouble figuring out what I mean.  Good luck!
Step 1:  Set up the printer in Win 7, share it.  (Duh)  Let's suppose my win 7 machine is named Windows7 for simplicity's sake.
Step 2: Download the Win XP printer software to your laptop.  Install it.
Step 3:  Unplug the printer from your desktop and plug it into your laptop.  The laptop will set up the printer as a USB wired printer.
Step 4: Plug the printer back into your desktop and confirm that it is working properly again.
Step 4:  Attempt to install the printer over the network.  When you get to the bit where you've browsed to the printer, you should have a network path at the top of the screen.  It should be something like '\\Windows7\HP Photosmart 7700 Series Printer.'  Control-C to copy that path, then cancel that installation.
Step 5:  Browse to the printer that you installed locally on your laptop, which should now be marked as offline.  Right click and select Printer Properties.
Step 6:  Go to the Ports tab.  Click the button to add a new port.
Step 7: Choose Local Port.  When the box comes up to enter the information, paste the path you copied earlier (control-V) into the window.  Hit OK until you are out of the printer properties.
Step 8: Right click on the printer and select Use Printer Online.
Step 9: Print a test job.  It ought to work.
Step 10:  Be glad you only have to do this once and that your two machines aren't both desktops...

  • HP photosmart 7760 prints green

Hi, My printer will print images green, but only on one of my computer. My little notebook will print just fine but my desktop prints them out in green. Does anyone know what that would be caused by and how to fix it. I have uninstalled and reinstalled with no change. I don't get it at all. Confused. Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi lonnienabigail and jbker,
You can try following some steps below.
    HP Photosmart 245, 7755, 7760, and 7960 printers
Make sure plain paper is loaded in the In Tray. For the Photosmart 245, the paper should be loaded face up.
    Press the Menu button.
Press the Down Arrow until the Tools is highlighted.
    Press the OK button.
Press the Down Arrow until Clean Cartridges is highlighted.
    Press OK .
Press OK again to print a level one clean cartridge test.
Once the level one clean cartridge test page has printed, examine the printed page. If the print is not clear and/or there are lines in the color bars, continue to Step 9. If the print quality is acceptable and there are no flaws with the color bar, press the Down Arrow once then press OK .
Press OK to print the second level clean cartridge page. Yes is selected by default
Once the second level clean cartridges test page has printed, examine the printed page. If the print is not clear and/or there are lines in the color bars, continue to
If the print quality is acceptable and there are no flaws with the color bar, press the Down Arrow once then press OK .
Yes is selected by default, press OK to print the third level clean cartridge page.
Once the third level clean cartridges test page has printed examine the page. The printer will not ask you to print another clean cartridge test page. If the problem persists contact HP Support.
    Hope this works for you!

  • Red Blinking Lights on Photosmart 7760

I have a Photomart 7760 that is now starting up from power on, blinks 10 times "green", and then continuous "red" blinking.  If I remember correct from another post, it said something about printer head.  So...question is what does this blinking sequence mean, and how to I correct it?

  • Problem with printing only 1 copy from the console on an HP photosmart 7760.

When printing 4X6 borderless copies from a memory stick at the console the first picture correctly prints 1 copy but subsequent pictures show they are printing 1 of 2 copies. No matter how I set the number of copies this problem persists.
I have tried to set the number of copies directly and also to the default setting. Neither works after the first picture.
    Any suggestions?
    **bleep**

Hello there! Welcome to the forums @UHBCDDP,
I read about the printer issue you're having with it randomly printing out pages.
I am really unsure of what could be causing the problem for sure, however, I have an idea that it could be related to the alignment of the unit itself. The steps I have are below and I'd suggest giving them a try to see if it helps!
Try the steps from here: A 'Cartridge Problem,' 'Cartridge Failed,' or 'Incompatible Cartridge' Error Message Displays on the...
I hope that helps! You can also try power resetting the printer and ensure the printer is plugged in directly to the wall outlet, avoiding power bars and surge protectors. This ensures the printer is receiving full power and may help greatly.
Press the Power button to turn on the product.
With the product turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the product.
Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
    Wait at least 15 seconds.
Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the product.
If the product does not turn on by itself, press the Power button to turn it on.
If the troubleshooting does not help resolve your issue, I would then suggest calling HP's Technical Support to see about further options for you. If you are calling within North America, the number is 1-800-474-6836 and for all other regions: click here.

  • HP Photosmart 7760 printing last part of page issues in Vista (64bit)

Well, I've been reading up on the same issue ith other printers but never saw this model come up and I tried some of the suggested fixes for those other models and none seem to have worked.
I use a graphic software that actually shows me the printing margins and the right side margin in ladnscape or the bottom margin in potrait is about 3/4in which cuts of parts of my graphic being printed.
Now I can use the borderless printing option and it will work fine but the only problem with that is that it automatically sets the paper to photo paper and the quailty to best and I don't want that. Now regardless of me setting the print mode to fast draft(which is what i want) and the paper to general everyday use, the printer still prints in best quality which means it uses up more ink than I want.
Now I am not sure why HP has not fixed this problem which could probably be easily fixed if we were allowed to set our own margins just as we are allowed to with the left and top margins. In Windows XP Pro...I was allowed to change the margins on each side of the paper but in Windows Vista I am only allowed to change the top and left margins.
What gives HP...don't you want to take care of your loyal customers? When I went to check for upgrades and downloads for my model printer, it said that HP was not gonna make any software for Vista when it came to my particular model.
This is sad to hear and this is the reason why I bought my daughter a Sony Vaio laptop instead of an HP laptop. My loyalty can only go as far as you're willing to show me it's worth continuing to be loyal to you. Unlike the rich folk in America, I can't be spending money on newer products when the product I have still works like new other than this certain defect that is happening with this certain printing problem.
My motto is simple....either the company I buy from helps me fix the problem with their product or I no longer deal with that company. It's not like we as Americans don't have enough choices to pick from.
Anyhow, I hope someone can really find a fix for this problem...it looks like it's been going on a while and it seems like HP is trying to tell us in so many words that we got screwed and that's all there is to it. [text removed]
