Hp photosmart A616 photo printer

I have a Photosmart A616 printer. I do not have it connected to the computer I print my photos from a SD card. Everything was working fine until I got a message that said unsupported media size Job was cancelled The other message was paper is to small. The paper is HP Q1988a-60019 pre glossy and is 4 x 6. Any ideas what I am doing wrong? I did try a kodak paper I had here and got the same message.

Hi beeje,
According to the Blinking Lights, guide the battery does come out, and it is optional to have one.
To remove the battery:
1. Unplug the printer power cord if it is plugged in.
2. Open the battery compartment cover and remove the battery.
CAUTION: Do not touch the contacts inside the printer or on the battery.
3. Wait 10 seconds, and then reinstall the battery.
4. Plug in the power cord, and then turn the printer on.
I would give that, a try and then if it still does not resolve your issue without the battery installed, try a hard reset. To do so please see this post, How to perform a Hard Reset.
After this, I would recommend to please call our technical support at 800-474-6836 for further options. If you live outside the US/Canada Region, please click the link below to get the support number for your region. Country-language selector.

  • HP Photosmart A616- Photo printing colour has too much blue tone

    Hi,
I have a HP A616 photosmart. It was purchased a while ago, as well as the ink cartiage. Recently when I set it up to try on the printing quality, I realsed all photos that I printed contain too much of blue tone in them. I can still see the different colour in each photo but they are covered by a layer of blue colour on them. I didn't chose black& white or other colour function. Just the normal printing quality.
Has anyone experience the same with this device? Or any soloution or what way go wrong?
I was thinking could it be due to the ink cartiage used? It was stored for almost a year before I took it out to use.. will storing ink cartiage for a long period of time could damage the ink???
Thanks for anyone who can reply to this query.

    Hi Matt
Are the ink levels ok? You could try checking the cartridges are vented properly. More details in the link below

  • Photosmart b210a photo printing has terrible colors

I just got my b210a and I'm using the cartridges that came with the printer and using HP advanced photopaper.  I'm printing through Windows Live Photo Gallery application using the highest settings available.  However the colors are off.  They're dull and have a tint to them like a slight sepia tone or like they were taken with a camera in the 70s and left in a smokers house for 30 years.  I will say that the thing prints pretty fast though.  Anyway, is there a way to fix this?  Maybe there's a better optional ICC profile I can use somewhere?

Addition to my previous post: In some other thread, it was discussed that glossy paper does not accept the pigmented black ink. I read that as that the pores in finish on the glossy paper cannot absorb the black ink.
What does that mean then? Well, it probably means that on glossy media, the Photosmart Plus does not print using black but only CMY. If you want to print in CMYK, you need to get a model that supports Photo Black, such as the Photosmart Premium. The B210 cannot produce good contrast photos because the combined density of the CMY inks just won't do. That's the problem, right there.
HP is welcome to prove me wrong. Then of course, they have to come up with another explanation as to why photos lack contrast when printed on the B210.
And it's not that the photos look faded that's the problem. It's that they clip where they saturate, and black would have come to the rescue. Photos printed on the B210 just look weird.
Lab quality photos my ass. What lab? The run down drugstore on skid row, with its 2 hour photo service and the permanent beer stain by the counter? That lab?
I wish they were clearer on this quality difference from the start. Want to print out photos to put in an album? Forget the Plus and get the Premium. Want to print photos to keep in your wallet? Then the Plus might suffice.
I tested printing on the Advanced Photo Paper set as regular paper, and it printed deep black because it used the black ink as well. However, as it's pigmented it doesn't get absorbed by the finish, instead it clogs the pores and stays on top of the finish. While it does dry, it does not fully stick and can be smudged away. It's not a solution, that's for sure.

  • HP Photosmart Premium: photos print wet and with grainy image.

Photos print wet and image looks almost like a posterization; the color seems okay, but the image has a grainy patterns of tiny dots all over it.

What printer model - there are several different Photosmart Premium models?  What program are you printing from?  Are you using photo paper designed for inkjet printing?  What are the driver settings for print quality and media type?
Web images are typically 72ppi, while for printing 200ppi or more is typically needed to prevent grainy images.  Make sure the source photo's are of reasonable resolution.
If you are printing from a program such as Photoshop that gives an option of RGB or CMYK printing be sure to select RGB.  While the printer inks are CMYK the driver is expecting RGB (or sRGB) source data.  Printing with CMYK selected will result in very oversaturated prints.

  • Photosmart B8550 - photo printing problems

Has anyone else had the problem of photo printing perfectly on all papers except HP Photo paper?  I loose all my black tones when I print on the photo paper, but I bought Kodak paper and it worked.

Yes, I am having the same problem and also all of the other problems reported. One printer head has already been replaced and another is on its way. Not to mention the catridges (black) that I wasted in the process. When it prints, the quality is superb. It is just failing too often with less than six months of operation.

  • Photosmart 7350 Photo Printing Problems

When I print a photo with my Photosmart 7350, it would stop printing after 2/3 of the photo was done. I uninstalled the printer, then reinstalled, and now the whole photo will print, but where it used to stop, the quality of the print drops significantly. It's always in the same spot, no matter the print quality selected.
I'm using Win XP, SP3 and a USB connection. I get no error messages of any kind.
    Any suggestions?

  • Photosmart C310a - photo print cut off

I print 4x6 borderless pics from PC to the printer in the highest resoltion. The preview screen
always cuts off some of the edges when in borderless mode, but none when previewing with border.
Is there a way to directly fit the photo to the size of the photo paper without leaving out any part of the pic?

The edges of your image will be cut off by a printer that can’t print all the way to the edges of the paper. In order to prevent this, go to the Image Size menu again and decrease the height by 1 inch (thus also reducing the width). When printed, the image will be centered on the paper. You can also choose “Scale to Fit Media” In Page Setup.

  • Photosmart A716 Photo Printer INK BLURRY, JUST BLOB OF WET INK ON PHOTOS

We have used this printer for about a year without this problem, suddenly, the photos are just blurred blob versions of the actual photo. It is possible to make out the photo but the ink is super wet and blurred with a halo effect throughout. they are horrible and useless. We have realigned, cleaned the ink cartridge, printed from several different photo sessions even on different cameras and it is the same. The problem is definitely within the printer. It is out of warranty and they wouldn't help me without a charge. Any ideas?

  • Graded bands on photo prints - HP 7520 Photosmart

    Hi,
I'm experienceing a problem printing photos with my new (less than 1 month old) 7520.  All my photos are printing with perpendicular bands (equivalent to the appearence when printing in draft mode) no matter what settings I choose.
To prevent the usual "go to the troubleshooting page" message, I have:
    1. Used HP Premium plus photo paper
    2. Used genuine HP ink cartridges
    3. Ran a clean cartridges cycle
    4. Ran an align cartridges cycle
    5. Changed all the cartridges
    6. Selected the correct paper size, type and print quality in the print menu.
    7. Ensured the print resolution is high enough
    8. Printed via Wireless, USB connection and USB memorystick directly connected to the printer
Have I just bought a duff printer?
My previous Photosmart 2575 could print high quality prints.  As this is the latest iteration of the photosmart range, what could be wrong?

  • Photosmart 6510 not printing photo in colour

I have a Mac OS X 10.8.4 and I am new to it.  I have a photosmart 6510 wireless printer, and I am trying to print off a colour photo.  Each time I print, the printer goes through the motions of printing and it sounds as though, it is printing - quite slowly, which is the norm for photo's.  However, when the machine has finished, the photo paper is completely blank, can any one tell me what I am doing wrong?   have checked my ink levels and each cartridge is almost half full.  Thanks for any help you can give me

I am having the same problem... I have a Mac OS X 10.7.5 and a photosmart 6510 printer, and I am trying to print a color photo on 4x6 photo paper -- I have done this before with no problem from various applications.  But now, each time I print, the printer goes through the motions of printing and it sounds as though it is printing, but when it's finished, the photo paper has come out completely blank. The ink levels  are each over half full.  I would really appreciate an answer - I have used all manner of troubleshooting using the standard HP Photosmart printing guidelines and nothing has worked.

  • HP photosmart 5520 my new printer on photo printing keeps stating out of paper

my new HP photosmart 5520 will not print photos. It keeps flashing "out of paper, reload" when the printer is already loaded with paper single and several sheets. Is this a faulty machine that I bought or can it be rectified. I never had this problem with my previous Kodak printer. Could you please advise what can be done to remedy this or should I purchase another make of printer. Thanks Michael

    Hello shuter1,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I see you are having photo printing issues with the Photosmart 5520, it will not feed the paper. Will the printer print on regular 8.5x11 paper?
What is the paper type and size you are trying to print these photos on?
See if following the steps outlined in this guide will help: Printing Photos Saved on Your Computer or Memory Card.

  • Photosmart C4750 printer chops off photo prints on leading edge no matter what size, paper setting,

My Photosmart C4750 printer chops off the photo prints when using photo paper no matter what settings I use.  I don't have any trouble when using regular paper.  I have a Touchsmart 300 PC using windows 7 and I use either PMB from Sony for my photo editing or Corel Paint Shop.  The problem seems to be in the printer.  It starts printing the picture off the paper.  Can you help me?

I called their tech support and they informed me that the printer was out of warranty so they could not give advice unless I payed the one time fee or bought a 1 year plan.  First, the guy's India accent was so strong that I couldn't understand him.  Next, the prices they wanted were almost the price of a new printer.  So, I declined and wrote my post on the forum, but got no responses.  Yours is the first.  Then HP sent a survey.  I gave all bad scores.
In March I got an e-mail saying I had a one year warranty and would I like to extend it.  I called the number and got another India accented lady this time.  In the background a little kid's voice was saying "Mom, Mom".  This was not going to go well, I knew from the start.  So I explained my problem over again.  She told me to hold  a minute then came back and said my printer was out of warranty.  I read off the e-mail and she said that meant my printer had been out of warranty a year and was asking if I wanted to extend.  I asked the cost and again it was the price of the printer so I said NO.  She asked if I wanted help to solve my problem.  I asked if she was going to charge for it and she said Yes.  I told her I would just buy a different printer and hung  up.  HP sent another survey and I gave all bad scores again and wrote the comment that I will never buy another HP printer.  I heard Epson Printers are very good for photo work.  I will give them a try.
