HP Photosmart C309g-m not connecting.

My printer is connecting a self assigned IP of 169.254.1.49 instead of my router.  It was working fine before.
I have read some solutions and nothing has worked.  Ugh.

From the front of the printer: Setup > Network > Wireless Network Test.  What does it say about the wireless radio?

    Hi @leslie60 ,
I see that you are having issues installing the printer. After extracting the downloaded drivers, they disappear. I will certainly do my best to help you.
Something is preventing the setup program from recognizing files from this download.
I will provide you with some steps for editing the registry to resolve this issue in a Private Message.
In the forum beside your handle name just click on the envelope to view it.
Before doing any of the steps, back up the registry first. Back up the registry.
Please let me know the results.

  • HP photosmart c309g still not working with os maverick???

i dont understand why this is still not fixed - over a year later!!
I'm not sure wether to get rid of my HP pinter scanner or my mac!!
Everytime i scan i get a black page- using apple preview is a joke.
According to the threads people were complaining about this in 2013.
Please if there is a real solution to this problem let me know!

Hello @mpaige , and Welcome to the HP Community!
I read your post about how when you scan with Apple Preview, the scan turns up all black.
Although there is no driver or software available for the Photosmart C309g model on Mavericks, meaning you do not have the option to scan using HP software, you do have two other method options to try and scan.
Click this link and see under "How do I scan with the built-in driver":
Installing Your HP Printer Driver and Software for Mac OS X
Also, you can try downloading this driver from Apple, that might help too:
HP Printer Drivers v3.0 for OS X
Just a tip: Ensure the printer is plugged in directly to the wall outlet, avoiding power bars and surge protectors. This ensures the printer is receiving full power and may help greatly.
Also a basic reset might help as well:
Press the Power button to turn on the product.
With the product turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the product.
Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
    Wait at least 15 seconds.
Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the product.
If the product does not turn on by itself, press the Power button to turn it on.
If you find that when you make standard copies from the front panel of printer, that they also turn out black, the printer itself may have a hardware problem. If this is the case, I'd suggest calling HP directly.

  • Photosmart 6525 Internet Not Connected about 3 minutes after turning on

I bought a Photosmart 6525 on 11/20/2012 and have been trying ever since to get it to work wirelessly.  There are hundreds of posts in HP forums about this problem,  as well as in Windows 7 and Netgear forums.  I've tried everything I could find in all of the forums but I can't fix this problem.  This printer definitely needs a firmware update to fix it!  The printer always loses its internet connection about 3 minutes after turning the power on.  My workaround is a USB connection to my Laptop and selecting the Wireless Direct Connection on my iPad for AirPrint.  AirPrint only works from my iPad over my normal Wi-Fi network during the first few minutes after the printer is turned on.  After that, it will only work over the Wireless Direct Connection and I have to turn off the printer's 802.11 wireless OFF or the iPad can't find an AirPrint printer.  That's because the printer status is "Internet Not Connected" to the 802.11 network.  But that status doesn't show on the printer's display...you have to print out a Network Configuration to see that the printer has lost the internet connection.  My workaround gets me by for now but the situation is certainly not satisfactory.   I don't have a wireless printer that works wirelessly even though I just bought one.  Also, iPad printing is klutzy since I can't just print from the iPad as I should be able to over my normal Home Wi-Fi network.  Instead I have to select the Network Name for the Wireless Direct Connection, then print and then go back to my Home Wi-Fi network.  I have four other devices that connect to my Home Wi-Fi network without losing their internet connection and this printer should be able to do so as well!  That's why I cannot believe it's a problem with Windows 7 or my Netgear router.  I believe the problem is the firwmare in this printer (and probably all Photosmart 6520 series wireless printers).  Mine has Firmware Revision PKM2CN1230AR.

Let's try this.  Turn off all wireless security for a test.  Connect with no security to see if it can stay connected.

  • Brand New C309g will not connect wirelessly with ANY wireless security options enabled

Printer will connect via wired ethernet. I can use the http utility.
Printer will connect via unsecured wireless connection.
Printer defaults to autoconfig (169.xxx)when connected  via WEP (both open and shared), will not connect with a manual IP address. Cannot access http utility.
Printer won't even autoconfig when connected via WPA-Personal - instead says "No connection found."
Printer is in the same uncluttered room as the router.
ALL OTHER wireless network devices work fine and keep up with security changes.
I have legacy devices on the network that make me want to run with WEP.
I've run the HP Network Diagnostic. It can access my router just fine. It cannot find the printer.
    Router is D-Link DIR-655.
I jump through the right hoops - refresh router, restore factory defaults on printer, etc. All other wireless network devices work fine.
I want to pull an "Office Space" on this brand-new printer - please save me from doing so!

Ooops, my mistake.  Thanks for pointing it out.
Another idea is to make sure the firmware is updated on the router.
Also, from the control panel of the printer: Setup > Network > Wireless Network Test.  It will self-test the printer radio.

  • Photosmart printer will not connect to network, unable to set IP Address Manually

My Photosmart printer has worked fine for a long time but it now refuses to connect to the network.  It is wired into the router and I have changed the lead and this shows no chnage.  The Printer network set-up shows an IP address of 0.0.0.0 in manual mode and if I reset this and press OK it immediately reverts to 0.0.0.0.  I've also tried putting the printer into Automatic IP address but it still fails.  Subnet Mask and Default Gateway also show as 0.0.0.0.  I can reset the Subnet Mask and Gateway to the correct levels but as soon as I go back to set the IP address they revert to 0.0.0.0.  The printer will work from a USB connection but it will then not share correctly.   Is it possible to reboot the onboard program?

    Oh, an ISP-supplied router.  Uggh.
OK, remove the phone (DSL) cord from the back of the router.  Cycle power on the router, then attach the printer with the phone cord disconnected.
Now, Let's set a static IP address for the printer:
    - Print a Network Config Page from the front of the printer. Note the printer's IP address.
    - Type that IP address into a browser to reveal the printer's internal settings.
    - Choose the Networking tab, then Wireless along the left side, then the IPv4 tab.
    - On this screen you want to set a Manual IP. You need to set an IP address outside the range that the router automatically sets (called the DHCP range). You can find the DHCP range of the router using its internal settings page or in its manual. Use the CD that came with your router or type the router's IP address (ends in .1) into a browser.
    - Use 255.255.255.0 for the subnet (unless you know it is different, if so, use that)
    - Enter your router's IP (on the Network Config Page) for the gateway and first DNS. Leave the second one blank.
    - Click 'Apply'.
Now, shut down the router and printer, start the router, wait, then start the printer.
After this you may need to redo 'Add a Printer' using the new IP address.

  • HP Photosmart C309G does not upload to Snapfish correctly

When I insert a memory card into my C309G wireless printer, I choose to save the pictures to Snapfish. It goes through the whole process of saving the pictures and even gives an album name, which is the date.  When I login to my Snapfish account through either the printer or my computer, the album does not show up.
Has anyone seen this problem? Does anyone know a fix?

    Hello everyone,
I just checked the PS c309g Software and Driver web page and there's patch available for this issue!
The patch is titled: Critical Update to correct a problem when accessing Snapfish Albums
Follow this link to the Photosmart 309g Select Your Operating System page. From there, select your OS, download and install the update.

  • Photosmart C510a Printer not connecting to Wi-Fi

I have had my HP Photosmart eStaton C510a for almost 3 years now. I moved out of my parent's house and in with a friend of mine. I cannot get my printer to detect the wifi in the house. The tablet has connected no problem. It won't sync with the table's wifi, and I have tried using the WPS touch option to connect and that isn't working either. I've printed out the troubleshooting for it. I've noticed that the printer is still searching for my parent's wifi and not wanting to connect to the wireless out here. What can I do to fix this? The only message I'm getting is "Syncing Networks Unsuccessful". Please help!

    Hi there nerdyredneck92,
I saw your posts about not being able to sync your Zeen to your network. I would like to suggest another guide for you to add to all of the other steps you have already tried, if you haven't yet found a fix.

  • EFax not connected to network

I have not been able to send EFaxes for some time despite many searches for solutions.  The problem seemed to arise when I got my new desktop computer (an HP) with Windows8.  I followed these instructions:
eFax Error with Photosmart 7515 - Printed Not Connected to a Network
    Options
    ‎12-17-2012 02:37 PM
I would try the steps below. Does ePrint work?
    1. Obtain your printer's IP address
    a. This can be done by pressing the wireless icon on printer.
    2. Enter the printer's IP address in a browser.
    3. Select the network tab at the top of the page.
    4. On the left select networking.
    5. Select Network Address (IP)
    6. Select Manual DNS Server
    a. Manual Preferred DNS should read 8.8.8.8
    b. Alternate DNS Server should read. 8.8.4.4
    7. Select apply you might get a warning just select okay.
I turned off the printer and restarted it (twice) and I still get the same message that I am not connected to the network.  The network functions fine in the other printer applications. I also re-installed the printer drivers to the most updated version. E print is on.
    What else can I do???

    Hello,
I've got good news and bad news... The good news, the eFax issue you're having isn't on your end. The bad news, the eFax service is currently not working properly -- it's possible to receive faxes but you can't send 'em.

  • Can't connect my HP Photosmart c309g-m printer to my Linksys WRT54GC router. "No filtering = FAIL"

I'm having trouble connecting my HP Photosmart c309g-m to my Linksys WRT54GC router.  The diagnostics report states "No filtering = FAIL" in all my attempts.
First I had set up the wireless security of the router with a WPA2 Personal passphrase.
Because that didn't work, I downgraded my security to WPA, since the diagnostics report suggests that that's what it's actually using for encryption. This didn't work either.
I double and triple checked the MAC address of the printer in my Wireless MAC filter settings. It was correct. However, it still didn't connect.
Grudgingly, I turned MAC filtering off. However, the printer still wouldn't connect.
Now I'm out of options. Any possible ideas for this problem?
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

    Here are a few ideas:
    1. Make sure the SSID is being broadcast.
    2. Make sure that DHCP is active.
    3. Do not use MAC filtering (it is not a good security measure, anyway).
    4. Change the router channel to 11.

  • HP Photosmart c309g-m carriage does not move to centre when lid lifted

    Hi,
I'm trying to change the cartridges on my HP Photosmart c309g-m. However, when I lift the lid, the carriage does not centre; it just stays on the right hand side, beneath the plastic cover, making it impossible to change the cartridges. The printer is definitely powered on and seems to be printing ok.
    Any ideas?

Sorry that you are having a problem with your carriage not moving.
Try to unplug the power cord from the back and manually move the carriage.
Look the right right side of the carriage and see if a piece of paper or something is holding it hostage.

  • HP Photosmart 7520 not connected to computer when trying to scan

    Hi!!
I have an IMac.  I can print from my computer, and my computer recognizes my printer (HP Photosmart 7520), however, my printer will not connect to my iMac...Help!  ;-)
When I am trying to scan, the exact warning is:  "No Connection:  No computer is connected.  See printer Help and documentation to troubleshoot the connection."
When I go to printer Help and doc, it says to install the HP software on my computer.
I already went through most of the troubleshooting steps I could find (on my computer and online) - they only dealt with my computer not recognizing my printer...not vice versa...
The little bluetooth light is lit and going strong...
    Thanks in advance!!!
