HP Photosmart C310 not working with OSX 10.8

My printer was working OK until I installed OSX 10.8.  Although the printer is conected by WI FI (it works from my IPod and I can email documents to it} it id no longer working from my IMac.  I cannot instal it as a new printer as that part does not seem to work via Sysyem Preferences.  There is no compatible software on the HP web site so cannot instal software and drivers.  Has anyone any ideas short of buying a new printer?

Conected printer via USB and it works.  It also works via WI FI but only if iMac WI FI is switched on which is a little inconvenient as my normal configuration was IMac connected to Router by ethernet and printer connected to router via WI FI with OSX 10.7.  Why this is now different in OSX 10.8 I have no idea just pleased that there is a work around.  Perhaps HP will bring out an update, which they haven't done yet.  Thanks for all the help.

  • External DVD Drive not working with osx 10.8.5

Hi, I'm having issues with my MacBook Pro 15" 9,1 working with an external DVD drive.  I am running OSX 10.8.5 and have been troubleshooting this issue for a few weeks.  The optical drive itself is the original drive that came with the computer, but I have put it in an external enclosure to free up space inside the body of the MacBook Pro.  The drive seems to function fine with CDs (playing and ripping - haven't tried burning yet) but is extremely inconsistent/barely functional with DVD playback.  Only one DVD in my collection properly works - others bring up error messages in multiple programs (VLC, Wondershare, the native DVD application, etc.) and another continuously loops back to the main menu each time "Play Feature" is selected.  These are a variety of DVDs that range from obscure to commercial and old to new (the oldest and most obscure is the only one that works).  After deciding that it is not the programs, I replaced the enclosure.  I still had the same exact issues.  I reset PRAM - no solution there.  I created a new user on my computer, installed the same media players and had the same luck.  I then used the same external drive on my old MacBook Pro 15" (5,4 running OSX 10.6.8) to see if it would work there.  It worked perfectly (with the native DVD application).  What is going on here and how can I get my new computer to recognize the external DVDs reliably and consistently?

older superdrives were Hitachi mfg, new ones are Panasonic.  Since yours is new and panasonic, indications are it wont work thru the enclosure on your NEW macbook, rather as you state on your older Mac.
until you said it worked fine on the old machine, the logical conclusion is a dirty lens on the laser since it reads CDs fine but most DVD not, since the track is much smaller.
Considering a new superdrive is only $48 on ebay ,or $78 for a new superdrive, your frustration might be too much, and just grab a new superdrive.
Your detailed information indicates a firmware incompatibility of the panasonic superdrive thru an enclosure
This is the new superdrive, made by panasonic as you have in your enclosure:

of course thats a lot of trouble buying that AND an enclosure, easier still is just getting a Mac superdrive inside its working enclosure designed for use as such:

Every time I try to burn a DVD with my external drive I get an error message sayng that the connection is not stable. I have double checked all my connections and everything is fine yet I cannot burn DVDs or CDs. Any ideas????

  • SanDisk USB 3.0 Card Reader does not work with OSX Mavericks.

Since updating to OSX Mavericks (10.9) My  USB 3.0 SanDisk "ImageMate All-in-One" Card Reader has begun to fail.
It all seems to work proper at first. The memory card shows up in finder and I'm able to browse the files. But when I try to transfer any files it un-mounts from finder and only transfers the first file.
This does not happen under previous OSX versions. I have tried on other computers since, so the card reader is fine.
My USB 2.0 card reader saved my life this time. It works totally fine.
Is this a known problem? Are you guys working on it?

  • Canon MG5250 Scanner not working with OSX 10.7.2 HELP PLEASE

I have tried to get my canon mg5252 multifunction to scan, im using OSX Lion 10.7.2, I have tried downloading the canon drivers (mp 4.0.3 and ica driver 1.9.0) but still cant get it to work !
Any help is greatly appreciated !
    Thanks
    sc

Uninstall the device using Canon's instructions. Then assuming you are using a USB connection to connect it to your computer restart the computer in Safe Mode to clear some caches. Then restart the computer normally. Then connect the printer to the computer via USB and turn on the printer. The printer should then be seen in the Print & Scan preferences. If not run Software Update. To scan use Image Capture (it's preloaded on your computer) and scan using the Image Capture tool.
If you still have trouble then follow the instructions in Printing Overview OS X Lion.

  • Photosmart C7280 not compatable with OSX 10.6.8

All was well until I upgraded my MAC to snow leopard OS X 10.6.8. Now the computer will not recognize the printer, photosmart C7280. Neither scan nor print. The HP upgrade did not help.

It should be pretty easy to get your printer working again, here are the steps to try
    1. Select the 10.6 option and follow the two methods for uninstalling the old software: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&lc=en&docname=c02259020
    2. Download the new printer software, and install it: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=oj-74785-1&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&...
    Restart the Mac
    Try to print and scan

  • HP Photosmart R725 not working with iPhoto anymore

When I originally purchased my camera in January it worked perfectly with my iPhoto software on my iBook G4, a couple weeks ago it stopped loading the camera and photos. The application opens when I plug the computer into the USB port, while off and when I turn it on iPhoto opens but the camera does not appear on the list and it doesn't upload photos automatically, or at all. Also, if i unplug my camera from the USB while it's on the camera will pop up in the list but when I try and plug it back in, iPhoto stops responding on me and I have to force quit the application. I've tried different methods of turning on the camera while plugged in and unplugged and opening iPhoto in different ways. I'm wondering if it's the software as there are no more updates outside of purchasing the whole iLife package. If anyone has any insight into this problem please let me know. I love my camera but this is just ridiculous cuz I have several photos saved and have no way of loading them. I've tried updating as I have version 5.0.4, but no luck, probably cuz I'd need to buy iLife, but I just wanna get this to work. Or if anyone knows of problems with the camera itself that I'm not aware of please feel free to share that information so that I can make a better decision as to what to do. Thanks.

    Hi there,
As a last resort maybe you should try using Apps > Image Capture to download your photos into a folder on your desktop and import the folder into iPhoto...
Open Image Capture and check preferences...
    Good luck, Rick

  • Netflix screen is black as sliverlight not working with OSX 10.6.8

I am running OSX 10.6.8 on a Mac Pro (2008) the highest system possible for this computer
    I am using Firefox 32.0.3
I have installed and uninstalled various versions of Sliverlight 4.0 - 51. and the most recent version
My Netflix page is black when I try and view a film. No tool bar - nothing.
I have tried running Firefox at 32 bit - no difference.
I have spoken to Netflix and they say that the issue is somewhere between Firefox and Silverlight and asked about an ad blocked app - I dont believe that I have any but there is no where to check this on the version of FF that I have. They claim it is under VIEW - Toolbar - but I do not have that or see it.
    Please help.
    Thank you

  • Microsoft Office 2011 not working with OSX Mavericks

    Hello,
I downloaded OSX Mavericks within the past two or three days, and I've been able to use Microsoft Word just fine. I tried opening PowerPoint today and it crashed, so I updated the Microsoft Office package. Now, I cannot open anything but Messenger.

Went through this exact problem two weeks ago.
Basically, when I installed I then updated and only Word would open correctly. After calling the help desk and going through a ton of suggestions we got it to work by doing update 14.1.0 and then opening Word and updating to 14.1.2. This fixed my problem and it hasn't repeated... and I use the whole office suite daily.
IIRC it was the 14.1.2 update after 14.1.0 that did it, however you can call Microsoft support... just make sure you have about 45 minutes available if you have to do some serious troubleshooting if the two updates don't fix it for you. Keep in mind this worked for me so YMMV.

  • Photosmart C4280 not working with Airport Express

I have a Photosmart C4280 connected to an Airport Express Base Station via USB for wireless printing. I have two computers that I want to use for printing - an iMac and a Toshiba laptop running Windows XP. Printing from the Mac works perfectly and required zero configuration. On the laptop I created the printer using Bonjour. It located the printer on the network without a problem and I selected the driver for the HP 4200 Series printer. However, when I try to print, the print job sits in the qeue and eventually I receive an error message that it couldn't print.
I have disabled the Norton and Windows firewalls but that doesn't solve the problem. I have also tried some generic drivers but that didn't work. Does anybody have any additional suggestions?
    Thanks in advance.

    Check out http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=8883084#8883084
It describes a Vista/AirPortExpress/C4280 installation, but should be relevant to XP.
