HP Photosmart c3100 driver doesn't appear as an option in the driver list

Hello,
I downloaded and installed the driver for my HP Photosmart C3100, but when I try to add the printer from the Print&Fax control panel, or Printer Setup Utility, the driver does not show up as an option. There are a zillion other drivers in the list but not the one I installed. I tried restarting, no luck. Anyone know what to do? Is the driver perhaps under a different name?

I will answer my own question in case anyone else has this problem.
It's hard to believe that a printer FREE from Apple itself would be so hard to get working. Most of the solutions I found on the web left me using some generic gimp driver, which wasn't doing too well printing on photo paper. It was better than nothing, but still kind of lame.
As far as I can tell, the thing that got the real driver in there was to DELETE the whole Printers folder in /Library and then install the HP's driver. Only then would the Printer Setup Utility see it. Before that, I had tried resetting the printing system, running some third party app called Printer Setup Repair, all to no avail -- it just never would find or list the hp's driver as an option.
I could not believe that the HP driver was so difficult to get installed. And I am an advanced user. My parents, on whose computer this was happening...forget about it!

I'm trying to create a linked server to an Oracle 10g database from SQL Server 2008 R2, but the required OraOLEDB.oracle driver is not appearing in the list of providers. We are trying to recreate our prod environment where we use the 11g client to connect to the 10g db, so I downloaded the installed the 11gClient ODADC (11.1.0.7). I have the Oracle folder in my 'Start' menu (Windows 2008 O/S), and it looks like the Oracle install was successful but in the registry (regedit) I don't see Oracle listed as 'software' in the local_machine/software listing.
I set my Oracle home to C:\Oracle and the path under there is
product\11.1.0\client_1
I've also read in some other posts that I should have both a 32 bit and 64 bit Oracle driver installed - I'm assuming that 11g is 64-bit and 9i is 32 bit?
Should I be able to install just the client or do I need to install the Server as well?
Any suggestions?

I figured this out - we didn't have the 64-bit version of the driver.

When right clicking to send a link , the` send link` option does not appear as n option on the menu list.

the ``send link`` option just disappeared..It happened immediately after an automatic update to firefox when my computer has to be restarted about a month ago.
sometimes a ``copy link location`` will be on the list...and that will allow me to send on a link..but normally now it rarely appears and send link has disappeared entirely from the right clicked menu box.

hello bblauman, mozilla does clean up the interface of the browser from time to time - a user study has shown that this context menu entry is only used by a small fraction of the users. however, in case you miss this functionality you could use an addon to recover it: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/send-link-in-context-menu/

I recently bought a WD My Book Live to backup using Time Machine, now that I've upgraded to and my old NAS won't support Mountain Lion. The WD drive appears in the Finder, it doesn't appear as an option when setting up the backup disc in Time Machine.

When i upgraded from LION to MOUNTAIN LION it made NO difference at all to my MyBook Live !!!
reading the original post again and again, do you in fact have two My Book Live units, an old one and a new one ?

Trying to limit number of emails showing but when I go to "mail, contacts, calendars", "show" doesn't appear as an option. What now?

Restoring your iPod to factory settings is the best way to try and get it back to working order. You can use the instructions below to restore it:
How to restore iPod
Verify that you have an active Internet connection, because you may need to download new versions of the iTunes and iPod Software.
Download and install the latest version of iTunes if necessary.
Open iTunes. Connect your iPod to your computer using the USB or FireWire cable that came with your iPod.
After a few moments, your iPod will appear in the Source panel in iTunes.
Select your iPod in the Source panel. You will see information about your iPod appear in the Summary tab of the main iTunes window.
Click Restore.
If you are using a Mac, you will be asked to enter an administrator’s name and password.
A progress bar will appear on the computer screen, indicating that stage one of the restore process has begun. When this stage is done, iTunes will present one of two messages with instructions specific to the iPod model you are restoring.
Disconnect iPod and connect it to iPod Power Adapter (typically applies to older iPod models).
Leave iPod connected to computer to complete restore (typically applies newer iPod models).
During stage two of the restore process, the iPod displays an Apple logo as well as a progress bar at the bottom of the display. It is critical that the iPod remain connected to the computer or iPod power adapter during this stage.
Note: The progress bar may be difficult to see, because the backlight on the iPod display may be off.
After stage two of the restore process is complete, the iTunes Setup Assistant window will appear. It will ask you to name your iPod and choose your syncing preferences, as it did when you connected your iPod for the first time.

I Had the same challenge and all I did was switch off my iPad. Remove the SIM card from the tray. Switch the iPad back on again, reinsert the SIM card and bingo! The hotspot showed up again.

The first important thing to consider here is that Apple does not support Time Machine backups to a drive at the USB port on the AirPort Extreme, so that may likely have something to do with your difficulties.
If you want to continue to try this, the drive must be formatted in Mac OS Extended (Journaled) and you almost always have to use a powered USB hub with a drive at the port of the Extreme...even if the hard drive has its own power supply....because the port on the Extreme is under powered.
Most users who try this unsupported method have corruption difficulties sooner or later, but we do hear from some users who seem to be able to make it work.
The bottom line is that there is no support from Apple on this if you have difficulties, so you may want to consider a secondary backup plan for your important data.

Because Apple did not set it up that way. Email the list to you. The Users Guide says:
View an article in Reader: Tap the Reader button, if it appears in the address field.
Adjust the font size: Tap .
Share the article: Tap .
Note: When you email an article from Reader, the full text of the article is sent, in addition to the link.

I tried downlaoding itunes on my Windows Vista and after it completes, the icon doesn't appear on my desktop. The itunes setup can be found just not the actual program.

It did prompt me to run it. I apologize. I said save.
This is what happens, I run the iTunes64Setup, it downlods, says it has completed and then I click finish on the iTunes installer. After that, nothing comes up. Usually the program will start after it installs. There isn't an icon on my desktop either. When I go and search for iTunes under programs, only the iTunes64Setup appears. I am also having trouble downloading Adope Photoshop as well.

MY Facebook Page appears distorted with all of the data listed vertically

Starting a few days ago my Facebook page altered appearance drastically. All of the text and images are spread out vertically on the page and a long downward scroll is needed to even get to the first post. The Facebook Photo viewer now drops the image down as well and covers the caption and first few comments. I use a PC, with Windows XP. I am currently using Mozilla 6.2.

Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.
"Clear the Cache":
* Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage (Cache): "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
* Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

Asha 202 doesn't have a Maps option in the Menu!

Hello everyone on this community, I'm new here so forgive me if I make mistakes..
I want to know why my Asha 202 doesn't have either the Nokia Maps option or the Nokia Social App. Do I need to do anything to enable these?

If you have seen this advertised with these features thru' official Nokia Channels and If you have bought the phone from Nokia authorised dealer you may tell them to change it with other model which really has the features you want ... or else, you may raise the issue with NOKIA by using the 'Contact Us tab at the bottom of this page...
BTW, if Maps application is not pre-installed you can't do anything.. but for the Social application, you may try Nokia Store for other similar compatible applications if any ...

HT201269 What happens when the old device's Restore From Backup doesn't appear as a choice for the new (iPad) device?

My wife dropped her iPad and fried the screen. It was still functional, so I backed it up with iTunes. The backup was successful for all apps, photos, etc. I just swapped that iPad at the Apple Store for a refurbished model and attempted to Restore From Backup. iTunes now doesn't see that old iPad so I can't restore the old data on the new device. Any help appreciated.

Here's an interesting bit: iTunes will let me restore my iPod touch from backup: it's still running iOS 4.3.3. I figured as much... there's backups showing in the Preferences -> Devices list for both devices (and even my old, long gone iPod touch 2G), but my iPhone (on iOS5) isn't giving me any such option. I remember I had to downgrade before to get the backup restored (something went haywire in the setup assistant, and I couldn't restore a backup from iTunes there)... If it was possible to go to iOS 5.0 rather than 5.0.1 I would just do the same thing again, but iOS 5.0.1 isn't an option. I attached a screenshot. Hopefully Apple can get this nonsense sorted out; I think iOS 5 might be the root of this, somehow.

Since 3 weeks ago I can't log in to library.nu because the recaptcha doesn't appear onscreen. I contacted the site about this and they advised me to install google chrome. I did and it worked fine but I would prefer to continue with firefox.What can i do?

Umm, not many details really. Recaptcha still works with other websites. Library.nu doesn't list any popups or images as blocked. The site works fine with chrome and opera

If images are missing then check that you aren't blocking images from some domains.
*Check the permissions for the domain in the current tab in "Tools > Page Info > Permissions"
*Check that images are enabled: Tools > Options > Content: [X] Load images automatically
*Check the exceptions in "Tools > Options > Content: Load Images > Exceptions"
*Check the "Tools > Page Info > Media" tab for blocked images (scroll through all the images with the cursor Down key).
If an image in the list is grayed and there is a check-mark in the box "<i>Block Images from...</i>" then remove that mark to unblock the images from that domain.
Make sure that you do not block third-party images permissions.default.images

There are also extensions (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) and security software (firewall, anti-virus) that can block images.
