HP photosmart C410 - cannot connect

I have a HP Photosmart c410, iMac (running most recent software OS X Mavericks, also have "bootcamp" installed which runs MS Winows 8.), I also have various mobile devices (iPad(s)), and a dell laptop.  I have had this printer for a few years and have always had intermitent issues with it "disconnencting" then  I would have to restart everything (printer, cpu, router) and I could usually get it back on line and working.  Since I have installed "bootcamp" to run MS software it seems to be most reliable...until now!  I am disconnected and I CANNOT seem to find the printer using any devices or operating system I have!  I cannot print, scan or anything, but printer is acting like it is on the network and NO problem.  But can't connect from any cpu or similar device.VERY FRUSTRATING!  I have again tried all the normal, restarts, re-boots, etc.  but I am having no succes going on weeks now.
Can anyone help?  At some point I thought I was able to reset the "ports" or IP addresses being used?  But I cannot seem to find instructions to do this again, and I am STUCK!
Any help is much apprecitated. Thanks.

  • I have an HP Photosmart 7510 & cannot connect by WiFi, I have tried the support fix with no success.

    Hi
I have an HP Photosmart 7510 & cannot connect by WiFi, I have tried the support fix with no success.
    I have tried the suggested from below;
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c02817031&cc=uk&dlc=en&lang=en&lc=en&product=507...
I have not tried to assign the static IP address suggested in step 6 on the web link above, I am not that technical & do not fully understand how to perform this task & am surprised HP expect retail client to follow this, if is a bit technical I think you must agree.
Anyway, the WiFi or Wireless blue led is blinking.
If I try to discover my wireless network, it is not displaye like it used , nor are my neighbors, my mobile Samsung Galaxy S displays my network and my neighbors when the phone in placed by my 7510.
When  I try to enter the SSID & key, my 7510 times out without connecting to my router.
My pc is connected directly to my router (Buffalo) and I use a Fujitsu Desktop running Win 7 32bit.
By the way, I have done a "Factory reset" to my 7510 & this did not help at all.
    Can anyone help?
    Is my 7510 faulty?
    Thanks in advance.

I saw your post and forwarded it to the right people for their review. You should hear back from someone shortly via private message on this Forum.

  • Photosmart C4780 cannot connect to wireless network

My Photosmart C4780 was working just fine, wirelessly, and now I cannot print unless I connect it to my laptop or desktop via the usb cord.  I am running Mac OSX 10.9 with the Mavricks downloaded on both computers.  I was able to print from my Mac Mini, iPhone, iPad and MacBook Air all without issue but now my Wirless Network Test Report says I fail "Network Name (SSID) Found".  The HP Network Configuration Page says my Netowrk Status is Offline and my Active Connection Type is None but I can see my network listed under Number of 802.11 networks discovered.  I believe I just need to connect or reconnect the printer to the network but I can't find how to do that anywhere on the help site.  Can anyone tell me how to connect my printer to my network now?  When I first installed it onto the network I didn't have OSX 10.9 with Mavricks so the installation CD worked just fine but not it won't work either.  One more thing, when I try using the screen on the printer and go through the WIFI Protected Setup both Push Button and PIN fail.  HELP PLEASE.....

    Hi hisfunbox,
I'm sorry to hear you are having problems connecting your printer wirelessly.
I have included a document with steps on how to change the printer from a USB connection to a wireless connection. It has a subsection for Mac OS X v10.8 Mountain Lion/OS X v10.9 Mavericks. The second option in this section is how to change from the an existing USB connection.

  • My Photosmart C410 won't automatically connect to the Network

My Photosmart C410 won't automatically connect to the Network, I have to put in my password for the router every time I turn on the printer from the printer keyboard.  Is there anyway that the printer will automatically connect to my network?

Tell me about your network - router brand/model, encryption type (WEP, WPA, etc) and ISP type (DSL, Cable, etc).
When you turn off your printer, are you totally removing power from it (like shutting off a power strip)?

  • HP Photosmart Plus B210 connects to network but cannot enable Web Services

I am on my second HP Photosmart Plus B210 and neither printers have been able to enable Web Services.
When I try to connect I get "Cannot Connect to Server".
I have had my computer, router and printer settings checked by HP Support desk.
I have changed my IP Settings to manual and set up DNS settings as per the Network Config report.
I can print without connecting with a USB cable and I can see the printer on my internet browser but for some reason this printer cannot download Product Updates or enable Web Services.
In desperation, I have got another router - a BT Home Hub 2.0 (which I had spare) and tried this in case my Netgear DG834G Router was causing the problem but this has not changed / helped my problem.  I still cannot enable Web Services.
Do I take up HP's offer of a 3rd printer?

Yeah, it is worth a try.  I had my HP rep get me one ASAP...but its still silly on HP's part.
Its like selling you a car and saying, "Oh but if you want to use the radio, you have to buy this remote for it because the keypad on the stereo we provide does not work"  .. "Oh and we dont include the special remote with the car"...
That's just not worthy of the brand "HP"

    HI beachgrl,
Welcome back to the HP Support forums.  I understand that you would like to learn what printables are available for your Photosmart C410 printer in HP Connected.
Once you are signed into your HP Connected account, if you type the link listed below into the address bar on your browser it should take you to a page that shows the printables you already have on your printer. Below the "Recommended Printables" section there is a search function.  If you type in your printer model it will list the printables available for the Photosmart C410a. The results will be grouped by category.  I have included a screen shot.
The address you need to type into your browser address bar is  https://printables.hpconnected.com

  • Photosmart 5510 printer model #B111A when using touchscreen apps i cannot connect to the server

Photosmart 5510 all-in-one printer,  model #B111A, windows XP----i can print from the computer, but when i try to use the apps on the touchscreen i get a message error "cannot connect to the computer"

The steps below typically resolve the issue you’re experiencing:
    1. Unplug the power cord from the back of the printer.
    2. Unplug the power cord from the back of your router (and modem, if separate from the router).
    3. Wait 20 seconds, then plug the router (and modem, if applicable) back in.
    4. Wait 30 seconds, then plug the printer back in and power it on.
    5. Press the ePrint button on the printer's front panel, and it should try to connect to Web Services again.
Those steps usually resolve the issue, but if it still occurs you can try setting static network info for the printer (which sometimes helps to stabilize the printer's ability to get outside of your network, to the internet):
    1.  Press the wireless icon at the top of the printer's screen and note the IP address.
    2.  Enter the IP address into the address bar of a web browser on a computer and press enter or click the browser's go button.
    3.  The printer status page should be opened.  Click on Network at the top.
    4.  Click on Networking on the left.
    5.  Select Proxy Settings.
Note:  If you are prompted for a redirect, select OK.  If you receive a certificate warning, select the option that lets you continue anyway.
If you receive a Internal System Error, refresh the page until it loads the proxy settings.
    6.  Verify that all fields are blank.  If they are not, clear them and make sure the Proxy Server requires authentication is unchecked and click apply.  You should get a success message.
    7.  Click on Network Address (IP) on the left.
Note:  If you only see IP Address Configuration and DNS Address Configuration with a yellow note, refresh the page until it loads completely.
    8.  Leave the IP Address Configuration as Automatic IP.
    9.  Change DNS Address Configuration to Manual DNS server.
    10.  Enter 8.8.8.8 for the Manual Preferred DNS Server and 8.8.4.4 for the Manual Alternate DNS Server.
    11.  Click Apply and you should get a success message.
    12.  Power off the printer for 30 seconds and then turn it back on to force the new settings to take effect.

  • Photosmart B209a setup cannot connect to printer wirelessly

I've had a Photosmart b209a printer for about 2 years and used it with no problem.  Couple of weeks ago upgraded to windows 8.1 and then neither of my two printers would print.  Long story short, I restored the computer back to windows 8 (which was factory installed) and can now print on my laser printer but not the Photosmart.  I have tried and retried installation and setup and always get the same problem:  The IP address is visible on the router's list of network devices, it is visible on the printer's front panel in wireless settings, and when installing the software with USB it can see the IP address when trying to setup wireless connection.  Then, the setup says it cannot connect to the printer.  It sees the printer, attempts to contact the IP address, returns the following:
"Your computer is unable to communicate with your printer at 192.168.1.114. This may be caused by firewall software. If you are using firewall software, verify that UDP port 427 is unblocked for both inbound and outbound traffic.
Your PC can not communicate with your printer at address 192.168.1.114. Check all cable connections. Check that the printer, PC and router are powered on and connected to the network."
Obviously, the PC and router are turned on and connected.  I even went to the security software and turned off the firewall AND created a new UDP port 427 and still no luck.  What has happened to my printer???

    Hey sue_M,
The first step that I would suggest, would be to run the HP Print and Scan Doctor. I have included the document 'Try the HP Print and Scan Doctor for Windows'. This will walk you through the download, as well how to use the tool.
Now to confirm a couple of questions with you.
    1. What firewall do you use? (ie. Norton, Windows, MacAfee)
    2. Do you just have the one firewall, or multiple firewalls?
    3. For the UDP 427 port, have you made sure that this port is open in your router firewall?
    Looking forward to your answers.

  • Cannot connect to HP Printable apps. Photosmart 7520e printer.

I cannot access or manage printable apps on my HP 7520e printer. I get “cannot connect to server, check internet connection” error message. My printer is connected to my WIFI with 100% signal. It has a static IP. I can print with HP ePrint while on the same network as well as remotely. I have 100% remote access to all printer functions. I checked for updates using the printers update function and I have the latest firmware and updates on my printer. I have also put in the manual DNS server entries 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 and I have followed all the threads in an attempt to solve this issue. I also get server certificate errors on the HP connected WEB site preventing access. This happens using a Windows PC or using Safari. This is a different issue, but I was attempting to print the pintable apps that are on my printer from the HP Connected WEB site.
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

    Problem fixed!
I decided to reset my printer back to factory defaults and perform another setup. That worked! All my printable apps work! Be aware if you decide to take this route, you will also need to go online to hpconnected.com and add your printer again. Just follow the printer setup instructions that printout during setup. You will also lose the printer email name that was previously assigned and you will need to create a different one or use the new one that automatically gets created. Also as a user friendly benefit, I didn’t need to configure my printer with a static IP address or manually set any DNS addresses. After I selected the factory default, and selected WIFI as my connection, my printer connected to my router immediately. Note: I don’t use security on my router. I also installed FireFox on my Mac computer and can now navigate hpconnected.com without issues.
Press the wrench Icon on your control panel and navigate to “restore factory defaults” and select.
    Power cycle your printer.
    Perform setup.
Optional if you have a Mac instead of a windows PC: Install FireFox to navigate hpconnected.com as Safari has issues with this site.

  • HP Photosmart 5510 B111a - Cannot connect to the server

My printer is not printing when I email [id] @ hpeprint.com, even though I get the "ePrint Job Received" email, so I investigated it further.
It's on the network because I can access the web page like normal.
    Here's what I'm greeted with.
There's a red cross next to the "ePrint", but the network has a green tick. Odd.
I check the "web services" tab...
Again, it shows a red cross and says "fix this".
I click "fix this", which after a little while displays this.
    The error says:
    Cannot connect to the server.
Check the Internet connection and try again. Or contact your system administrator or the person who set up the printer.
If your network requires a proxy server address to connect to Internet, click Enter Proxy or check your browser settings.
I know my connection is working as it should be.
I believe the fault lies in the printer, please can you advise further.
    Thanks.

    I discovered the problem.
I recall the printer had advised me some weeks ago to automatically set a manual IP.
When this was done it seems to turn off DNS settings so it cannot resolve any hostnames and will not access any services even though it is connected to the network.
I restored the IP back to automatic, which allowed me to also set DNS to automatically.
It seems that if you set a manual IP address on the printer, you cannot set the DNS.
    Odd behaviour.

  • HP ENVY 4500 Printer "Error. Cannot connect to Server"

    Hey everybody,
    I work in IT and have a client that recently purchased a HP Envy 4500 all-in-one. She called me to install it for her and I got it set up with no problems. After a few days she told me that her printer wouldn't scan. It was giving her this error message;
"Error. Cannot connect to Server. Check Server name and address."
She has this computer connected via USB and I have already reinstalled the driver and ran the HP Print and Scan Doctor with no success. I have tried a lot of other solutions that people have been posting with the same issue but none have worked. This has become a huge issue and I don't see HP trying to find a solution. If no soultion will fix this, then I will be returning this printer for her and getting something that works.
Any help would be greatly appreciated,
    bbritt91

    Hi bbritt91,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums. I understand that you are getting a connection error message when trying to use the scan to email feature of your Envy 4500 printer.
To be able to use the scan to email feature the printer must be setup with web services which requires the printer to be connected to your wireless network with an active internet connection. I have included the Getting Started with ePrint document for reference.
If the printer has been setup with a wireless connection, please set a manual IP address and manual DNS server for the printer. I have included a link to another post with the steps, including screen shots, on how to do this. Please don’t worry that the screen shots are for a Photosmart 7510, the steps are the same.
Please let me know how it goes.

  • Photosmart C4500s cannot be set up for Wifi under Mac OS X Yosemite

    Hi,
I use an HP Photosmart C4524 with a Mac OS X Yosemite. Unfortunately, the only way to use the printer is by connecting to its own 'hdsetup' wifi-network. I would like to connect the printer to my own wifi network, but the product offers neither a set-up wizard nor auto wireless connect (I think) or a WPS system and it is not recognised in the Apple Printer and Scanner Settings.
I used to be able to set up the printer thrugh USB under older OS Xs, when I could still use the HP Desktop Software.
After the Apple Driver Update this software has become obsolete and was deleted from my computer.
I tried installing the software and using it without the drivers update.  It worked up to a certain point but always crashed while connecting printer to network.
I also tried changing the network options when accessing the printer's IP address, but I was unsure about what I was doing.
Are there any solutions to change my printer's wifi network?
    This question was solved.

Hello @Arnau, I hope you are well and welcome to the forums
I have a few suggestions that might work, to have your printer connected wireless with Yosemite. It may not work, but it could be worth the attempt, right?
To get started, there is no driver available for the Photosmart C4524 on Yosemite. The same process for Mavericks may work. Here are my suggestions:
    Reset the printing system
    Repair disk permissions
    Restart the Mac
Follow this guide: HP Printers - Installing a Mac Printer Driver Using Apple Software Update
In addition, download this driver: HP Printer Drivers v3.0 for OS X
If you still cannot connect wireless, see this post from @MissTeriLynn  and try her steps to connect through the Embedded Web Server: Re: Photosmart C4780
Best wishes to you, I hope this helps

  • Photosmart c410 unable to print with Mavericks 10.9.3

up until the latest Mac OS X update (10.9.3 out May 25th 2014), i was able to print (wireless) without incedent. But since that update, i've been unable to print to that printer.  My wife's HP laptop (running windows 8.1) prints fine to the printer (HP Photosmart c410).  My Macbook Air recognizes the printer and connects without problem but when i go to print, the printer shows "printing...printer in use" but does not awaken the printer.
i have no issue printing to my Epson Artisan 810 so suspect the problem lies with a specific driver issue between 10.9.3 and the HP PS c410.  any ideas? (i've deleated and re-added the printer but no change).

    Hi Zedman435,
Only having the AirPrint driver tells me that there is something missing. Please complete the steps below.
    Reset Printing System
Click the Apple icon (   ), and then click System Preferences.
In the Hardware section, click Print & Fax/Scan. The Print & Fax/Scan  dialog box opens.
Right-click (or  Ctrl  +click) in the left panel, and then click Reset printing system…
    Click OKto confirm the reset.
Type the correct Name and Password.
Click OK to reset the printing system. The Print & Fax dialog box shows no printer selected
Note: This will remove all printers in the print and Fax/Scan, any printer removed can be re-added later by clicking the plus (+) symbol.
    Repair Disk Permissions
On the Dock, click Applications, and then click Utilities.
    Double-clickDisk Utility.
Highlight your hard drive/partition on the left (by default this is "Macintosh HD").
Click the Repair Disk Permissions button at the bottom of the window.
Once the repair is complete, restart the computer and download and install the HP Printer Drivers for OS X.
Now when you add the printer, you should have the HP driver to choose, do not select the AirPrint driver.
Select Add other Printer or Scanner
Select the printer you are adding and next to 'Use' you can the printer driver
Please let me know how this works out. Thanks.

when trying to register for efax on my HP Photosmart 7515, my printer indicates it cannot connect to the internet.  The eprint works works great. The wireless network test results indicate connectivity PASS.

    Hello Stevej13,
The first thing I would do is follow step six in this document to set a static IP: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c02817031&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&product=4023246&tmp...
When it askes for DNS information, enter in Google's DNS. Preferred DNS = 8.8.8.8 Alt DNS = 8.8.4.4
If that does not help, if you could provide me with the following information it would help me out.  First, who is your ISP( Internet Service Provider, i.e. Comcast, AT&T, Verizon, ect.)?  Second, who is the maker of your router?  Lastly, what is the model number and firmware version of your router?
