HP Photosmart C4580 All-In-One Mac OSX 10.5

My printer no longer works as a printer, it will copy and scan but will not print.
I rebooted several times both printer and computer, no change.
Then I deleted the printer and added it back, and no success, the printer is gone.
I used the CD to reinstall the software, no printer.
I downloaded the software and drivers and the disk image would not mount, because it was not recognized.
Anyone have any ideas?

If you are still getting that error message I would do a hard reset that involves removing the cartridges. HP-photosmart 6280 all-in-one with osx 10.9 now does not show options for printing photos from the photo tray.

Using osx mavericks on macbook pro. My printer for HP-photosmart 6280 all-in-one now does not show options for printing photos from the photo tray.

What router? Have you restarted the router?

HP Photosmart c7280 All-in-One Mac 10.7.1 (Lion) the "Two-Sided" option is grayed and cannot use?

I have a HP Photosmart c7280 All-in-One printer and a Macbook Air that runs the Lion operating system (10.7.1).
I am trying and needing to print via the "Two-sided" option that appears under the "Layout" pull down tab option, however, the "Two-Sided" option appears to be greyed out as if you are not allowed to use it. I am sure that that is not the case I just do not know how to unlock it yet I guess?
I just made sure that all of my software was up to date and it is currently.
Everything else is perfect about the printer and I have been using it for years, so thank you! I would just like to know what on earth I am doing wrong or need to do to unlock that "Two-sided" setting, so I do not waste a ton of paper! Thanks again!

Hi DAP413,
In order to actiate the Two-Sided duplex accessory, you have to enable it from the printer settings:
-Enter System Preferences > Print & Scan
-Double click the Photosmart printer name to open the Print Queue.
-Click the Printer Setup button
-Click the Driver tab and make sure the Two-Sided Printing Accessory option is checked.

HP Photosmart C4580 All in one

Since upgrading to Snow Leopard my All in one C4580 will not scan. I just get an error notice saying that the printer cannot be initialised. It still prints, no problem. Is there a fix for this yet?

Here is what I did to get my scan with OCR working today after updating to 10.6. Noticed yesterday the OCR function was not working with the scan on my HP C5580 Photosmart all in one.
1. I did an uninstall of the HP software using the HP uninstaller that is located in the HP folder in Applications.
2. Went to the HP Downloads/Support @ hp.com and downloaded the latest update for my printer and 10.6 OSX from HP.
Installed that and during installation it asked if I wanted a scan button in the dock? I said yes.
Then I did a reboot and then did a software update from Apple and it said now it had an HP update which I had it do.
Now, when I use the dock scan button, the scan and OCR function work great. If I try to do it from Preview or using the Printer System Pref window, the OCR function won't work.
It may have been roundabout, but seemed to work for me.

hello! I would appreciate some help with my all in one c4580 pleaze!
althought it's been installed by windows update it doesn't react...doesn't print not even the test page
unistalled it several times got drivers from hp site but still not working...
used print and scan doctor but still doesn't work...doctor reinstalls the driver which stops after authorizations..
printer worked well on vista...just changed to win 7 32bit ultimate
my laptop is hp..
if anyone has a solution for me I would be grateful!

I see you're running into print issues. I would like to try and help with that!
I would suggest Uninstalling the Printer Software.
Once it is uninstalled, I would suggest putting your system into clean boot mode within the Microsoft configuration. You can do so by following this document: How to perform a clean boot in Windows.
Once the computer is in clean boot mode, I would suggest reinstalling the HP Printer Install Wizard for Windows.

Photosmart C4580 All-In-One - Error Message: Print Cartridge(s) missing or not detected

I have recently encountered a problem with my printer.
I went to print a document and the following error message was displayed on the printer "Print Cartridge(s) missing or not detected", and the document would not print.
I am unsure as to why this message was displayed as I had not changed anything to do with the printer.
The cartridges that were in the printer had been in the printer since October so I thought that it could be due to the cartridges needing to be replaced, therefore, I changed the black ink cartridge. Once the cartridge had been replaced the error message disappeared and the document printed.
However, I went to print another document shortly after and the error message reappeared and the document would not print.
Due to the fact that changing the black cartridge cleared the error message, I replaced the colour cartridge, however, this did not cure the error message this time.
I have followed all of the advice on the HP support pages about cleaning the contacts etc, however, it has not worked. I have also contacted the support team by Email, but have had no reply.
Does anyone know how to cure the problem, or if in fact it can be cured. I am a university student and desperately need the use of my printer, so any help would be appreciated.

Yes it did get resolved in the end.
It seems that the fault came from using remanufactured or re-filled cartridges.
I had to replace both of the cartridges so that they were genuine HP cartridges.
Originally I only replaced the one that was causing the problem, but in the end I had to replace both of them. This then resolved the problem immediately.

If not, I would advise contacting the HP support team as when they finally replied to my email they were very helpful and quick to reply to queries and offer advice and suggestions.

HP Photosmart e-all-in-one NOT PRINTING for MAC 10.9.2

I have a HP Photosmart e-all-in-one wireless that I have been using for my Apple devices (Mac, iphone, ipad) for years and recently it started giving me problems.
First month or so ago, out of nothing the MacBookPro would not see the printer connected, in dispite of been connected to the network. During that time I was able to find it connected from my iphone & ipad. Then I was using to print from these last two.
Now, not even from my iphone & ipad. It seems that printer does not exist at all, coz it always says "printer not connected" on the MacBook and "No AirPrint Printers Found" on the ipad & iphone.
I've noticed that on HP website, the most updated version of the Mac is 10.9 and my devices has 10.9.2 Is this the problem? If so, how can I get by and continue to use the printer? I need to print ASAP.

Problem Installing HP PhotoSmart Premium All-in-One C309g

I have a Wireless PhotoSmart Premium All-in-one Printer, model C309g. In the last 4 days, I've had 7 tech calls to HP as I cannot print. One got me printing temporarily from 2 laptops, but then failed. Most recently, after the latest tech's assistance, my printer cannot find or connect to my network. Each tech had their own theory, from a problem w/ router relating to N/G/B speed (???), a firewall blocking communication between printer/laptop, MAC address filter and the router (D-link wireless G/N/B) changes the IP address on the printer. My case was escalated 2 days ago at HP, but I have not yet heard back from them. Needless to say, I am not happy w/ HP.
I have just enough experience to be dangerous, but I do have some experience and I've learned alot by watching the HP techs. Anything anyone can suggest would be greatly appreciated!

Yes, I know my passphrase.
There were times when all items PASSED. Initial setup error msg indicated problem w/ MAC code filtering. Tech was able to resolve. At this point, the printer cannot connect to router. It sees it, asks for passphrase, errors off. All recent diagnostics run indicate FAIL for No Filtering.
BTW, throughout ALL of this, the Wireless indicator light on the printer is illuminated, wh/ led me to believe I had connectivity all along.
I was told by tech the router assigns different IP addresses for the printer (dunno why), neither of which will open in explorer. Tried to set printer manually (subnet mask IP, etc) but it kept going back to auto detect IP.
THANK YOU SO MUCH for your time. I am still interested in learning more, but I have a previous appt. If I have NOT taken the product back before I get back on line, I would still be interested in your ideas. I will check back tomorrow. Have a wonderful evening!

After installing Snow Leopard I can no longer "save photos on computer" after inserting a memory stick to an HP Photosmart C5180 All in 1 Photosmart C5180 All in one

When I insert a memory stick into my HP Photosmart C5180 All in one and I try to "save photos on computer" the printer reads: "You need to install device software". This all started happening after I installed Snow Leopard on my Mac 10.6.8. Can someone please advise on what I need to do?

Typically it's a good idea to uninstall any devices attached to the Mac before doing an upgrade. This prevents problems that can be caused by the upgrade. HP Photosmart C3180 All In One Installation Problems

A while back I posted about problems with installing this printer, where the install cd v7.8.0 worked but the HP Set Up Assistant hung on the 2nd step. The software on the hp site for this printer (v7.9.1), did not work either, and froze mid install (couldn't even get to the set up assistant). HP support couldn't help me, repairing permissions didn't work, neither did resetting the printing system. I even tried updating cups and it didn't help either.
I found a way to get the printer to work by choosing HP Photosmart P1100 - Gimp-Print v5.0.0-beta2 in Printer Set Up Utility, but since I never completed the HP set up assistant, it came up every time I turned on the computer. But, I could still print.
Then one day I couldn't print, and when I went to Printer Set Up Utility, every driver I picked resulted in the "An error occured while trying to add the selected printer...server-error-service-unavailable", even the one that worked before (HP Photosmart P1100 - Gimp-Print v5.0.0-beta2)
What finally worked to get me back in the land of the printing was to do an archive and install of the OS and re-installing the latest OS update, then reinstalling the v7.9.1 software from the hp website. I have no idea how things got so messed up twice, but I thought I would share what finally worked just in case it helps someone else out there...

I am having EXACTLY the same problem with my HP Photosmart 3210 All-in-One. Step two of the HP Setup Assistant stops me dead in my tracks. No printers are listed. Scan Utility just crashes upon opening. The System Profiler lists the printer in both the Printer section & the USB section. I installed the new HP (Universal) 7.9 dmg as an Update; worked fine until I tried to scan. It will do everything, except scan.
Most recently, I did a System Archive & Install (after many MANUAL* printer uninstalls & reinstalls of HP software....), then applied: MacOSXUpdCombo10.4.10PPC.dmg, (brings all up to date in one step).
And a fresh install of HP Universal 7.9.....no change. I did notice that one set of instructions (for installation) said not to have the printer connected until prompted by the software (which never happens). Another (most recent) said that the printer MUST be conected (and 'on') BEFORE beginning the software installation. Neither one worked. And Hp hasn't been able assist any further. If they come up with something, I will post.
Oh, I also tried installing only the Original software that came with the Mac & the 3210. Now that doesn't work either.

My HP Photosmart C7280 All-in-One printer won´t print out documents, just pictures. I´ve used the printer, since it was new on the marked, and it has worked perfectly until a few weeks back. There is no problem printing out pictures, but only blank pages comes out when I´m printing out documents. Regardless if it is Word, Excel etc.
I´ve never used anything else than original cartridges, and the printer is used on Mac OS X 10.7.4. I´ve tried to reinstall the printer several times without any success.
Can anyone help me?

How do I get my HP Photosmart C6280 All-In-One to scan?

I have updated to Mac OS 10.9 the driver for my HP Photosmart C6280 All-In-One, but the scanner function no longer works. The Apple update list shows the update was performed on October 30.
The printer does not show up in the list of printers as a "Bonjour" printer, as the instructions from HP's website indicate it should.

I understand you're having issues printing/scanning with your Photosmart C6280 since upgrading the 10.9 on your Mac. I would like to help you with this as best I can.
The reason your having issues is because the HP software you're using is not designed for the 10.9 operating system. The last full software package HP released for the Photosmart C6280 was for 10.6, so the best option at this point would be to use the in operating system drivers.
To get everything to work properly again, I'm going to link you to how to completely remove the HP software so you can use the Apple software as Sunshyn2005 has described in her post. Once you follow those steps to begin using the Apple software you may not know how to scan using the Apple software and you can learn 3 different ways to do so.

My HP Photosmart 2610 all in one will scan but will not allow me to save the scan or email the scan. i assume it is a bug with maverick.....which i recently downloaded
