HP Photosmart C6300

I have a HP Photosmart C6300 All-in-one series operating in a wireless Mac environment...I DO NOT print photos however my Black Photo ink is consumed in normal plain paper printing jobs as well as my regular Black ink...do I have to have a Black ink photo cartridge in the printer for the printer to work while printing plain paper jobs (no photos) or can I go without it and just use the regular black ink???...are there settings to turn the Photo Black ink on or off (haven't been able to find, where to look)???...thanks...JB

Just submitted the exact problem!  Waiting in the queue now for 28 minutes for a response!

Reinstalling etc does not work - does anyone else have the same problem or a clue as to how to fix this?

    Keith,
I got a C6280 and the scanner does not work anymore. I am for 6 days in contact with HP. The last printer driver install form the apple web site does not open the image of HewlettPackardPrinterDrivers.dmg because of an invalid checksum. The skipping of the validation gives and error in the install.

Please remove any cables that you have connected to the printer with the exception of the power cable. Please make sure you have the power cable connected direct to a wall outlet and NOT a power bar/strip. Here is a document that explains the Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector.  Note that the printer in the document is a LaserJet printer and this is only used as an example and that the document is meant for HP products in general.
Please remove the Printer from the computer with the use of the uninstall utility that can be located in the All Programs menu in the HP folder under the model of your printer.
Please click on the following link to download and install the printers HP Photosmart C6300/6324 All-in-One Printer series Full Feature Software and Driver. Please save the file to your desktop so that it creates it's own Icon.

  • Photosmart C6380 - Windows 8.1 installation failure

I have a new PC with Windows 8.1 and I've tried numerous times to install the drivers via the HP site. The driver downloads, starts the install process and then comes up with a message "the system cannot find the file specified" and shuts down. What can I do?

Hello Druyan and Tsal, and welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!
I see you are running into installation issues.  I would like to try and help.
I would suggest Uninstalling the Printer Software.
Once it is uninstalled, I would suggest putting your system into clean boot mode within the Microsoft configuration.  You can do so by following this document: How to perform a clean boot in Windows.
Once the computer is in clean boot mode, I would suggest reinstalling the HP Photosmart C6300/6324 All-in-One Printer series Full Feature Software and Driver.

  • Driver for Photosmart C6380 in Windows 8.1 64-bits

I got a new desktop with Windows 8.1 and have been unsuccessfully installing the HP Photosmart C6300/6324 All-in-One Printer series Full Feature Software and Driver  from HP Support website.  The problem encoiuntered was that after downloading and extracting the  file "PS AIO 04 C6300 Net Full Win WW 140 408.exe",  it stopped and there was no following pop-up window with instructions for the installation. Would you please show me how to get the installation going. I have been trying downloading and extracting many times. and the same issue happened. Please help. Thanks.

Hello TYH and thank you for using the HP Forums!
I understand the software download extracts all the way and completely disappears. I can provide a document for you regarding this issue.
Software Installation Stops Without Warning and With No Error Message
Unfortunately it is an older generation printer, and Windows 8.1 is the latest Operating System for PCs.
The problem is most likely an incompatibility issue.
If all steps in the document do not provide a solution, please contact HP support for repair or replacement options available for you.

  • Photosmart C6380 cannot find computers wirelessly

Installed a C6380 via wifi.  Software install on a WinXP-SP2 passed the 96% mark, but installer reported "there were errors during install" (without any clue what they were -- thanks).  Right-clicking on the DIM in the tray shows "Camera Phone Photos", "HP Photosmart C6300 series", "Launch/Show Director", and the About/close pair.
I can connect to the printer via wifi to its HTTP server, no problem.  Wifi config looks normal.
I have already tried the "remove all HP" and the flash10a.exe procedures.
    I have tried ConvergedIO_HPCOM_V3.exe
Virus protection, network protection, portscan defense, all of that stuff turned off.
    1) trying a scan-to-computer from the device tells me "Scan Problem", "try starting scan from the PC"
    2) right-clicking the "Launch/Show Director" gives a single beep, and no other result or diagnostic (thanks)
    3) selecting the 6300 series, and checking status tells me "HP Photosmart 6300 series disconnected!" (while I'm hitting its status page in a browser window, implying otherwise)
    4) checking status (#3) shows no network traffic
    5)  starting a scan at the C6380 sends a single UDP/138 broadcast from its IP
So my problems are somewhere in "HP Stuff gives no feedback" and "the device cannot find my PC, but my PC can find it just fine"
My goal would be to hit the scan button, select my PC, and complete a scan.

Copy + Paste straight from their website.
That's OK...  your are using their product.  they can still put it is Bridge mode.  Call them and tell them you want to use your OWN router and they have to put it in bridge mode.
EDIT - Bridge mode just turns off the router portion and uses it as a modem only.

  • Photosmart C6380 scanning

I am unable to locate the 'scan' facility on my pc.

    Hi xrwinger,
I do have some steps that we can take in the attempt to troubleshoot this issue.
First off, please make sure that you have the printer power cable connected directly to a wall outlet and not a power bar/strip. Here is a document that uses a LaserJet printer as an example but it is meant for HP products in general. Please click on the following link that explains the Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector.
If you have the printer connected with a usb cable to the computer, please remove the cable from both the printer and the computer and leave it disconnected until further notice.
Please click on the following link for Uninstalling the Printer Software.
Once the printer has been uninstalled from the computer, reboot the computer so that the changes take affect.
When the computer is back up and running, we need to disable the firewalls and the anti virus protection so that it does not cause a conflict with the installation.
Please click on the next link for the HP Photosmart C6300/6324 All-in-One Printer series Full Feature Software and Driver.  Save the download to the Desktop on the computer so that it creates its own icon. This will make it easy to find when the download is complete.
Double click the new icon and follow the installation instructions.
The installation will prompt you as to when to connect the usb cable so please do not connect it before hand.
If the troubleshooting does not help resolve your issue, I would then suggest calling HP's Technical Support to see about further options for you. If you are calling within North America, the number is 1-800-474-6836 and for all other regions, click here: click here.
Thanks once again for your time.

  • HP6380 will not print with Windows 7 new install

I have an HP 6380 All-in-one printer. It has never given me any problem when
printing in Vista. We purchased a new laptop for the Wife with Win 7. I
installed the printer on there with no problems.
I then decided to upgrade my laptop to 7 Ultimate. What I did was set my laptop as a dual boot machine and Win7 then became a full install, not upgrade.
When I did network printer discovery, 7 performed a search, found the printer,
and set it up. I did the test page print with success. I could not print
anything past that point and subsequent test pages failed.
I went to the HP web site and found a driver download that was supposed to
include 7 support. The installed printer was removed and I ran the new setup.
Still nothing past the initial test page would print. Further research on the HP
site made reference to a patch and reboot which did not fix the problem. There
was another utility on HP site that removed all installed printer files to allow
    a fresh install, no luck.
At this point I decided to compare the printer properties between the Wife's
system and mine. Her system called to a port labeled WSD Port HP38147 (HP
    Photosmart 6300 Series).
On mine, the reference was to a TC/IP port with the network address of
    192.168.1.102.
I tried to change this to a local port also.
There was NO option for a WSD port, and when I tried to add a port, the only
    options were Local or TCP/IP.
For now I am having to save items for printing, then go to my Vista via
dual-boot and print there, a royal PIA.
In Vista BTW the port is labeled Standard TC/IP port HP Photosmart C6300 Series.

Did you delete the printer in Devices and Printers and re-add it?
Say thanks by clicking "Kudos" "thumbs up" in the post that helped you.

  • Setup Assistant can't see networked printer on Mac OS X

    Hello...
Wasn't sure whether to put this in the networking forum or the setup one cos it's a bit of both, ah well, hope it doesn't matter!
I have a HP Photosmart C6380 which I've successfully installed on a Win XP laptop, with the printer plugged in to the router (seemed pointless to use wireless when it's sitting right next to it...) and the laptop connected via wireless.  This works fine.
I also have a Mac (iBook G4 OS X 10.4.11 Tiger) which uses the same router, no real network as such though.  The printer software has installed fine but when running the Setup Assistant there's no printer listed.  Tried doing it with the IP address but doesn't work.
If I check "My device is not listed" then I can choose "Photosmart C6300 series" and then have to select "Network" or "Wireless Network".  Not sure which is correct seeing as it's both (Mac-router is wireless, router-printer is wired).  Regardless, whichever I choose I then get another page asking me to select my device, and there it says "if it ain't here, it ain't supported".
Sorry if that was a bit long-winded
Can someone help me get it working?

Or to put it (hopefully) simpler:
I can't find my Photosmart C380 over a network.  My configuration is the printer plugged in to the router directly (ethernet) and the computer (OS X Tiger) connected via wireless.  The printer software installed fine but it can't find the printer on the network, even if I try the IP address directly.  It says check the HP website for new software but there isn't anything for OS X.
    What can I try next?

  • Why does HP produce so many different cartridges?

Hewlett Packard prooduces what, over 100 different cartridges, all with similar shape and size. Their printers could be designed to work with existig cartridges but it seems like they design a new cartridge for new printers.  Don't they understand the principle of economy of scale?

The HP SureSupply Site may be a useful resource to you for your research, as is the HP PageYield site.  The latter will allow you to enter a cartridge number and find the printers it is used in, for example the 564 cartridge introduced about 2006 is used in the following printers and more,  including models still offered today:
