Hp photosmart C7180

Hello,
I have a problem with the yellow ink on the photosmart C7180 printer.  The cartridge was out of yellow ink so I installed a new cartridge. However,  it said
that I was still out of the yellow ink.  I thought I may have placed it in incorrectly and several times, I re-installed the cartridge. Finally I thought that the new
cartridge must be defective, so I placed another new cartridge but the same thing happened. Then I thought the entire twin pack of the new yellow
cartridges must be defective. So I got another new cartridge from a combo pack and again the printer went thru' the cycle and said the cartridge was
out of ink. So obviously it is the printer and not the cartridges. I looked at the spot where the cartridge fits into and it looks fine. Any suggestions??

    After updating my macbook pro (mid 2009) to Mavericks, I have found that I can only scan to a jpeg2000 and cannot scan as a tiff or jpeg or anyother format.  I have followed instructions on troubleshooting and have not been able to make anything work ie scanning from preview etc.  I have now uninstalled all the HP software and tried to load it again but software update will not recognise that I do not have the software for my printer.  What do I do now?

    I understand you're having issues with scanning since you upgraded to Mavericks. I have looked into this concern for you and found that there is no downloadable driver with the full feature software (scanning software) included for the Photosmart C7180 and Mavericks.
    However, there are work around options for scanning that may help and work!

  • Cannot do wireless printing to HP Photosmart C7180 since upgrading to Win 7 Home Premium 64-bit

         I recently upgraded one of my new HP p6150t Pavillion PCs from Vista Home Premium 64-bit to Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.  Since then I have not been able to print to my networked printer, an HP Photosmart C7180 All-in-One, which is wireless on my home network. When this PC was Vista, I was able to print. Two other PCs on my home network, both running XP, can access the printer across the network and print.  This PC now running Windows 7 64-bit can find the networked printer when I "Add-a-printer", and I am able to finish the installation of the printer. 
         I downloaded and installed new drivers for the HP C7180 from the HP website specifically for Windows 7 64-bit, so I have the latest drivers. (The version of the drivers is 13.1.0, date is 10-2009. From the same HP printer driver download site, I also installed " HP Print Software Patch When Upgrading Vista to Windows 7".
         I do not want to install the printer as a shared device on any of the other PCs, but rather want to be able to print from any of them, direct wirelessly, even if the other PCs are offline.  And I was able to do this when I used Vista...
         If I open and leave visible the print queue for the printer, and then print a Test Page, I see the print job briefly shown as "Spooling" and then as "Printing" in the print queue display, but nothing ever reachs the printer. There are no error messages, either during the process of Adding the Printer, or when sending Test Pages, or other print jobs to the printer.
         I have McAfee antivirus and Firewall installed on all of my PCs. The Firewall advanced setting for Networks shows that the IP address range for all of my IPs are trusted.
        [Although I just bought this PC from hp.com only 4 months ago, as part of a package of 2 PCs, a MediaSmart server, big hdtv monitor, and all with 4 year extended support agreements, HP provides "NO" support for network printing. That was what a support specialist called to tell me after I sent an email to the HP CEO.  HP PCs, HP printer, HP provided upgrade kit for Windows 7, but if you want to actually print from your HP PC to your HP printer, there is "NO" support.  (I worked for HP for ten years, but it is clearly a different company now.)  So, if anyone in the Community can assist, I would very much appreciate it.]

    I have a year old Epson and an HP.. I upgraded to a win 7 64 bit and doing some sharing/networking.. Got some 32 bit XPand two win 7 64 bit..   The Epson ,shares and connects up  with no issues.. the HP is just a fiasco...   No more HP for me ...

  • Photosmart C7180 on Windows 7 x64: Big problems

    My faithful Photosmart C7180 has gone to a near-useless state since I attached it to my new desktop machine running Windows 7x64.  I am connected via a wired connection/usb cable. Some of theese new antics include:
    Solutions Center says it's Disconnected, when it is not
    The scanner doesn't work
    When I attempt to print a doc, I get a partial print of the doc, along with 5 or 6 sheets of papers with a few random characters printed at the top.
    I have installed, uninstalled and re-installed the latest version of the software as downloaded from the website (v 13.1.0) far too many times.  This does nothing.
    I have run the HP Print and Scan Doctor....the print side says it works fine (it doesn't); the scan option fails on the Driver Check, saying that 'the scan driver is unable to communicate with the product'.  I've followed the instructions to unplug the printer, plugging it back in, restarting the computer, multiple times....again, this does nothing.
    Anybody out there have any suggestions, other than hauling this thing to the dump?

    I would try possibly using another method of connection. Possibly it is the USB cord that is malfunctioning. If you have another cord try that, or you can try setting the printer up on your network using a wired-Ethernet connection. 
    Try this and let me know how it turns out!

    I think you need to remove the queue. Please try:
        hold down the Windows key and press R.
        from the Run window, type services.msc and hit enter.
        if the machine asks for Admin you have to accept this,
        look down to the print spooler service, right click it and select properties
        click on the Stop button,
        browse to C:\Windows\System32\Spool\printers
        delete the job inside this folder
        reboot the machine

  • Photosmart C7180 Printing Issue

    So here's a strange one, my 9 month old Photosmart C7180 has developed a nasty habit of printing every other page in Landscape mode. I've been using the printer on a near daily basis for 9 months, but 2 days ago I started noticing this weird quirk when printing multiple page documents. I can't verify what may have triggered this (software or OS update) because it is possible that I haven't printed multiple page documents for a few weeks. I have checked for OS/App/Firmware updates and verified that I have the latest drivers and software. I have restarted both systems and reset the factory defaults for the printer.
    I can print a single page in Portrait mode, but if I print 3 pages the 2nd page comes out in Landscape. I can print the 2nd page individually and it comes out fine. It happens whether I'm printing from Microsoft Word or even if using Microsoft Photo Editor or HP Photosmart software.
    I am using the TCP/IP connection for printing from my Microsoft XP notebook (although I just verified that it happens when using Bluetooth as well).
    Has anyone else experienced this or have any possible explanation for why it seems to be possesed?

     try to disable the advanced printing feature of the printer
     >control panel
     >printers and faxes
     >right click your default printer icon which is c7180
     >select properties
    >click advanced tab in the properties window
    >uncheck the checkbox saying ENABLE ADVANCED PRINTING FEATURE
    >hit apply, then press ok!
     >then try to print your documents again

  • HP Photosmart C7180 All in One Scanner problem

    I received this unit a couple of years ago second hand, so any setup required was already done when I got it. The scanner always has worked and when I placed a document inside to scan, I would hit the scan button and the menu would give me several options for scan including PDF file, TIF, etc. I would choose PDF, plug my laptop into the usb, and it would scan the item onto my pc laptop. When I tried to scan last time, the only scan options that come up on the menu are Scan and Reprint and Scan to Memory Device. If I hit either option, the menu takes me to a photo printing screen where I only have choices of photo size etc. I don't know what happened, but it seems to me there must be some way to reset this thing for document scanning options instead of photo scan function. I called HP support and didn't get anywhere, also tried a suggested power reset by unplugging the unit, waiting, then reattaching power cord. No change. The HP support thought I might need to reinstall software, which I don't have on my computer and I'm not really too great with these machines anyway. Any ideas?

    I saw your post about no longer having all of the scanning options you used to have when scanning from your Photosmart C7180.
    I would also suggest a reinstall however, to help you better and provide you with the links to describe what to do better, I would need to know which operating system you are running on your computer. Please let me know and I will reply back to you!

  • Photosmart c7180 blocked from my jetpack wifi.

    I have one of those Verizon Jetpacks which allows up to 10 devices to connect to the internet.  One day when I was the only one online (or so I thought), I noticed that three devices were connected. I did not recognize them and thought that a stranger had breached my password and was using my internet. Since, I have limited data to use online, I disconnected the two "rogue" devices.  Now the Jetpack will not let my printer reconnect to the internet. I have talked to Verizon and they reset the Jetpack, which allowed my tablet to get online, but the HP Photosmart C7180 still will not connect. Does anyone know how to allow it to reconnect? I know it should be an option in the Jetpack, but we cannot find it. So, my question is: can I do anything to my printer that will give it a fresh new ID and allow it to connect again?

  • HP Photosmart C7180 Calibratio​n Error

    HP Photosmart C7180 Calibration Error light blinking.  Message screen "Please insert plain white paper for calibration"
    I have inserted new white paper, old white paper, one sheet at a time white paper, and no matter what kind of paper I insert, the page shoots through without printing and Calibration Error light continues blinking.
    I have restarted printer.  I have restarted computer and printer.
    How do I get this printer to accept a sheet of paper to continue the Calibration error - Please insert plain white paper for calibration?

    I have never had problems with HP printers.  That is why I continue to purchase them.  I have three here now that work   perfectly and have for  years.  The one with the calibration problem of accepting a white sheet of paper is the only one I have ever found to be recalcitrant.  It has worked daily, almost constantly, for 4 years.  I feed it ink.  It gives me perfect prints.  Until this calibration issue.
    May I have some help, instead of being told that HP printers have a 'lot of problems?'

    I recently changed my connection from USB to wireless (with wireless access point) for my PhotoSmart c7180 and printing works fine but when I try to scan nothing happens and it no longer appears in the list of scanners. What can I do to allow scanning wirelessly?
    When I press Scan Menu on the printer and select Scan to Computer it says "refer to device documentation to troubleshoot."
    Please help!

  • Scanning Slide strip film on Photosmart C7180

    Hi 
    I have Image Capture 6.01 running on Mac OSX 6.8 with my C7180
    I can scan discrete colour slides OK. I can scan B&W and colour Negative film ok in the HP slide / film carrier.
    However the Image Capture software seems to refuse continually to scan a transparency positive film in filmstrip form i.e. not mounted. It seems to have an auto detect feature which must be programmed to look for negative material in the film carrier rather than colour positive and so gives an error message. This is a great weakness in the set-up of the printer or software (Apple's?!) and I would appeal to you to update it or work with Apple so that it will allow the possibility
    of scanning POSITIVE COLOUR FILM.

    Since there is full feature software available for the C7180 for your 10.6 operating system, I would recommend using HP Scan instead of Image Capture. If you do not have the full feature software please use the following link to download and install it; HP Photosmart Full Feature Software and Drivers - Mac OS X v10.6.
    If you prefer Image Capture and wish to continue using it, I suggest reaching out to the Apple Community as it is an Apple application.

  • Hp photosmart C7180 is printing colar images in yellow-green only

    I am trying to print color images on my PhotoSmart C-7180 All In One from my Mac Pro with OS 10.6.8. All ink cartridge levels are O.K. I've tried cleaning the print heads twice, and I've tried Color Sych and colorsmart RGB settings to no avail.
    I've reset the driver on line twice, but printer won't use magenta or blue.

  • Using a Photosmart C7180 to create family calendars using MS Publisher. Using the monthly grid to em

    bed text boxes and photos. So for a 30 day month we have 30 squares and maybe 20%-50% of the squares has some added data besides the numeric date. I hope I am being clear on how this is set up. The problem arises when I try to print more than one or two copies of that particular grid. Let's say I am printing the month of April. Publisher will give April 2012 and a grid with the numeric date for each day of the week in that month. Now I will insert text boxes to indicate the Sunday that Easter falls on. I will then insert text boxes for several in-law birthdays, a couple of grandchild birthdays, and a wedding anniversary. I will then insert pictures of the people involved into the "box" (date). If I try to print 8 copies of that month the first copy or two will be fine but then the remaining copies will start to drop the text and pictures I put into the grid. The only solution I have found that works is to re-boot the printer by disconnecting power cable and usb cable. That works sometimes. More often than not I have to reboot the whole system; a Dell 8400. It gets a little tedious rebooting the computer every couple pages multiplied by the 12 months that make up the calendar. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
