HP Photosmart D110 running on Apple OSX 10.9.2 not scanning

I went to the HP Support Website... watched 3 videos about how to scan now that I've upgraded to the Apple Maverick operating system... and none of the processes worked. The "details" window did not include the "scan mode" option, but I don't think that makes any real difference. The problem comes when I select the final "scan" instruction, the computer basically tells me that I've already finished the scan, dummy. It won't save it, and the "detail" window won't close.

I'm sorry if it confused you.
If you go to the HP website, the full feature driver is only available on 10.8. Check this link,
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?os=4142&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&sw_lang=&product=4023...
But you can use the Apple Software update on this to have the software.. See this link http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c03967522&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&os=4159&product=402...
Apple Scanner, You go to System Preferences > Printers and Scanners, click the printer then hit Scan tab > Open Scanner
The full feature driver is not available for the printer because I think it's not compatible anymore.

  • How do I run the Apple Hardware Test? Its not on my DVD and the Internet-connected version tells me my computer isn't supported!

I have a mini - late 2010 2.4 ghz core 2 duo - that just started black-screen crashing and failing to wake from sleep. Up to a few dasy ago this was a really bulletproof machine! When trying to restart it afer a crash it sometimes emits three weak beeps (sometimes more).
Apart from spontaneous motherboard failure (??) I can only guess that the RAM failed (an 8GB upgrade installed last fall). I pulled one 4GB RAM board and the mini booted again! But it still sometimes fails to wake from sleep, and sometimes give the three beeps. I've run REMBER (a memory test program) on one of the RAM boards and it passes the test. My next step is to test the second one -- but whether it passes or fails there seems to be something else going on.
I'd love to try the Apple Hardware Test but:
    - pressing D on startup has no effect (even when starting up with the original install DVD)
    - pressing Option-D brings up an Internet-loading screen that brings up a Hardware Test screen then tells me my computer is not supported.
Is the AHT simply unavailable for my model of Mac? And/or is there any way to test my hardware?

The 2010 Mac Mini's came with a 2 DVD set, a Mac OS X Install DVD (22691-6657-A) and an Application DVD (22691-6658 -A). The Apple Hardware Test is on the Application DVD (22691-6658-A).

  • Photosmart D110 saying it is offline when it is not.

My printer is saying it is offline on both my macbook and my imac (both of which are running Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5) but the printer is not really offline for any of my other devices, it is working for my iphone. It also has no time printing if you have it connected by cable, but the point is I got a wireless printer for a reason and it is refusing to print via either computers. I have restarted it, restarted the computers, and restarted the router. I have also deleted the printer and reinstalled on both computers, still is says offline. I need to print and need answers.

I would take a look at the document below.

  • Photosmart plus b209a-m with osx 10.8.4 not recognize wireless

I had photosmart plus b209a printer with my macbook pro. It has wireless, but I have no idea how to set up it? I didn't install the cd, because I found out I just plug in the usb with my macbook pro will print it. Do I need to install cd first, but I lost it long time ago. Where I can get it or download it. I did search the driver for this printer in hp.com, but it didn't show any thing for me to download, can I set up wireless without install cd? Thanks.

    Hi,
You need to install the driver to be able to setup the printer wireless by following the steps

  • HP Photosmart C5580 prints with 10.6.1 but will not scan!

Hello all. Well, I'm stumped on this one. I had been using my HP Photosmart C5580 with Snow Leopard 10.6.1, generally, successfully via Bluetooth but the Bluetooth signal was too inconsistent so here's what I did. I had an Apple Airport Express I wasn't using for audio anymore. I plugged it into an outlet. My network saw it right away and I got the green signal. I plugged a USB cable into the Photosmart printer. I then deleted my old Bluetooth-based printer profile for the C5580 in Print & Fax. Then, with the Airport Express all set to go, I created a new profile for the printer in Printer & Fax under system preferences and selected Bonjour with the C5580 printer. Great! I began printing successfully and obviously faster than Bluetooth ever allowed. So, even though the C5580 is not a Wi-Fi enabled printer, I could get printing working through my network.
However, when I went to try to scan from my Mac Pro to the Photosmart printer/scanner, I failed completely. I downloaded and installed the latest HP drivers from Apple "HewlettPackardPrinterDrivers2.2.dmg" which are meant to work with my 10.6.1 OS. I also downloaded the HP Software Applications for this printer. None of them "sees" the C5580 scanner portion of this All-In-One device. I then discovered the HP Scan app and HP Utility do not work with 10.6.1 yet. I used the "HP Setup Assistant" but it does not see the scanner portion of the C5580 either.
I then discovered, online, that only Apple's programs: 1) Image Capture, 2) Preview, and 3) System Preference Print & Fax will allow one to scan. BTW the drivers I installed from Apple for HP are 4.0.2. On one Apple support site it clearly states that this driver (or drivers) work for both printing and scanning (and with 10.6.2). Image Capture does not see the scanner. Preview does not see the scanner. While in Preview, I scroll under "File", select "Import from Scanner" and select the only option "Include Networked Devices". Then I do the same thing again and "Include Networked Devices is greyed out.
A call to HP didn't get me any answers. They wanted me to open a ticket at a cost of $35 and said my printer was out of warranty. In fact, I have several weeks left, I later discovered. Drat!
Is there a special driver from Apple or HP to enable the scanner to work the way I want it to work? Is the Airport Express a problem? Why can I print to this device - have a physical and networked solution - yet not have the scanner work? Do I have to select "Scan" at the physical printer/scanner itself before I can print from my Mac Pro?
This is maddening. I don't see any way to install any scanner profile in Print & Fax as I did with the printer profile.
I welcome any and all advice.
    Thanks,
    PWRMAC

Thanks for the response pengtao. This is a big disappointment. If the printer driver from Apple can support the printer end of things with the setup I have, one would think the scanning could/should/would work too. Connecting the printer/scanner directly to my Mac Pro is really not an option and running the length of ethernet I'd need doesn't really do it either. I don't know if this makes a difference but my router/access point is an Airport Extreme (not the Airport Express that is attached to the printer/scanner). That is, the Airport Express is only used with a USB cable that connects to the C5580. The solution seems so near and yet so far away. Thanks, though, for your two suggestions!

  • HP Photosmart D110 app - where can it be found/what is it called???

I have Macbook Pro and until recently had the application that launches both scan and print functions in the dock, and I guess I must've accidentally removed it, because it's no longer there, and I can't for the life of me find the original, the one that looks like this:
    http://i55.tinypic.com/zj7968.jpg
I only found that picture in the Device Icons folder under Application Support by the way, I have no idea why the app itself isn't in the folder with the rest of them.
All I can find in the Hewlett-Packard folder are separate apps for scanning or printing, which is why I started using the all-in-one app.
Just searching 'photosmart d110' only brings up every image I've ever scanned with it - I'm losing my mind trying to find it again, if anyone knows where it's nested or what it's titled...infinite gratitude

Nothing is up. You just haven't adjusted the sync settings to suit your needs.
Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Sync
Then set how far back to sync events.
Yes, but how do you get them back if this setting was never set up? No one knew a thing about it.

  • HP photosmart D110 Mac OSX 10.8.5

I have had to reload my printers into my Macbook pro.  I have loaded the HP photosmart D110 in the print/scan utility and can see the printer.  I also can print a test page.  When I go to print a document, I get the following message "printing-printer in use" and it just stays in that mode (no printing).  I have tried turning off the router, printer and computer.  This did not work.  Any help is appreciated.

Hello TSafran and welcome to the HP forums!
I see you have a Photosmart D110 that you're not able to print with on your Mac running 10.8. I will definitely do my best to assist you with this issue!
I realize you stated you just had to reload your printers onto your Mac, but I'd like you to start with resetting your printing system (don't re-add the printer just yet) and then follow up with a verify/repair of your disk permissions. Once those complete, please reboot your Mac and then re-add the printer to the queue before trying to print again.
Let me know how this goes for you!

  • OSX 10.6.8 issues with hp photosmart D110

I used to be able to print and scan from my iMac  running 10.6.8  to the hp photosmart d110. Now, it doesn't show up as a bonjour device. When I ping it, I get access denied. Still air prints from iPhone and iPad. Works with win 7 machine. Any ideas why this happened?solutions appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hello Broleen,
Thanks for the post.  With this one, have you changed/replaced routers recently?  Moved it to another location?  Since you can Airprint sucessfully, I don't suspect it is a hardware wireless radio issue.  I might suggest taking a look at this document below, there are some excellent t-shooting steps to help resolve wireless related issues.  Good Luck!

  • How to print information from my Apple I pad to my HP Photosmart D110 series printer

How to print information from my Apple I Pad to my HP Photosmart D110 series printer ?

    Hello 518,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
It would appear that the HP Photosmart Plus 209B is not compatible with AirPrint. Without AirPrint you can only print via an App.
I suggest the ePrint App. Getting Started with HP ePrint Mobile Apps<---

  • Problem - HP Photosmart D110 and Mac OS X 10.9.4

    Hi guys,
I have problem when try to scan images trough photosmart D110 on OS X 10.9.4
The preview is ok, but when I try to save, file is saved corrupted.
I try all available formats but same problem.
Please any help will be appreciated...

Hello @TI-Sonhart , and welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!
I see you are running into scan issues.  I would like to help.
Does this issue occur when making a copy at all?
I would suggest deleting the printer from your print system, using this document: Uninstalling the Printer Software.
Once you have deleted it, I would suggest verifying and repairing the disk permissions: About Disk Utility's Repair Disk Permissions feature.
I would also suggest running your Apple updates:  OS X: Updating OS X and Mac App Store apps
After the updates, I would recommend reinstalling the  OS X v10.9 Mavericks: Installing and Using the Printer on a Mac.
Good luck and please let me know the results of your troubleshooting steps. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums!

After installing Snow Leopard, my HP Photosmart D110 series Printer is no longer recognized.  I suddenly can't print anything from my laptop where I have just installed Snow Leopard.   The printer is working fine with my iMac where I have not upgraded to Snow Leopard yet.  I've tried the HP setup assistant to no avail.  Does anyone have any suggestions?

  • Photosmart D110 series - scan not saving to PDF!!

    Help!
I'm not able to save my scan to PDF format or even JPEG preview.  I am using a Macbook Pro, OS is Maverick.  When I try to save to PDF using the drop down menu, I get an error message saying, "error has orrcured saving the file bcause it could not be written to...".  I've read the other support blogs and tried updating the software, etc and it still doesn't work.  The version of HP Scan is 2.4.1.  This is really frustrating!  Help please!  : )

Hello aparks and welcome to the HP forums!
I'm sorry to hear you've had issues scanning with HP Scan on your 10.9 system but I believe I know what's causing the issue and would be happy to help out
With your Photosmart D110, there is no HP software package for the 10.9 Mavericks operating system, meaning that the version of HP Scan you're using is not compatible, thus causing issues. I would recommend that you follow this Uninstalling the Printer Software document to get the software removed and then I will suggest that you follow this OS X v10.9 Mavericks: Installing and Using the Printer on a Mac document to get the printer installed via the Apple Updates.
Once that is completed, you can then follow this How to Scan: OS X v10.9 document to see the different scanning methods available without the HP software package.
Hope this gets you back up and running! Let me know how things go

  • My hp photosmart D110 printer won't scan or print since I upgraded to Yosemite.  Any suggestions?

My hp photosmart D110 printer won't scan or print since I upgraded to Yosemite.  Any suggestions?

    Hey clutterfromduluth,
Thanks for the question. I understand that you are experiencing issues with your printer/scanner after updating to OS X Yosemite. To troubleshoot this issue check out the following:
Troubleshooting printer issues in OS X
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3147
Follow these steps until the issue is addressed:
    1. Make sure that the printer is powered on, has ink / toner, and that there are no alerts on the printer’s control panel. Note: If you cannot clear an alert on the printer's control panel, stop here and check the printer's documentation or contact the manufacturer for support.
    2. Ensure the printer is properly connected to a USB port on the Mac or AirPort base station / Time Capsule. If the printer is a network-capable printer, make sure that it is properly connected to your home network.
    3. Use Software Update to find and install the latest available updates. If an update is installed, see if the issue persists.
    4. Open the Print & Scan pane or Print & Fax (Snow Leopard) pane in System Preferences.
    5. Delete the affected printer, then add the printer again.
If the issue persists, try these additional steps:
    1. Reset the printing system, then add the printer again.
    2. If the issue still persists, reset the printing system again.  Download and install your printer's drivers. Then, add the printer again.
    3. Contact the printer vendor or visit their website for further assistance.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.
