HP Photosmart error-photo tray problem, re-insert or lower the photo tray

The Photosmart 6525 error message:
Photo tray problem
re-ionsert or lower the photo tray
Mac OSX 10.9.4
ran out of paper and inserted more paper, but printer only printed a couple of pages, then stopped

Hi,
I request you to try the following:
1. Lift the output tray and extend the photo tray
2. Remove all photo paper from the photo tray
3. Slide the photo tray all the way into its slot, as far as it can go
4. Lower the output tray, and then press the OK button on the control panel
5. Press the Power button to turn off the product.
6. Unplug the power cord from the electrical outlet
7. Disconnect the power cord from the back of the product
8. Disconnect the USB cable from the back of the product
9. Wait 30 seconds, and then reconnect the power cord to the product
10. Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet. Do not use a surge protector, extension cord, or power strip. Connect the unit directly to a wall outlet and power it on.
11. Select the Paper Type and Paper Size under Copy menu as Automatic.

  • Photosmart C410: How do I associate a custom paper size with the photo tray?

Our Photosmart 3310 recently broke down and I purchased a C410 to replace it.  I sell a small item online that I ship in 3 5/8 x 6 1/2 envelopes.  With the 3310, I had figured out a way to print the envelopes from the photo tray.  While Word 2007 allows me to select the photo tray, the printer would not print from there until I created a custom paper size in the printer preferences dialog box.
One of the reasons I got the C410 was for the photo tray.  It's a real pain to have to swap out the regular paper and stick in one evelope every time I want to print another envelope.  Well, unfortunately, that's what I've been doing.  I select the photo tray in Word, but the printer goes right ahead and prints from the main tray.  I had forgotten what I did to make it work on the 3310, so I experimented with that printer's drivers until I figured it out.
My problem is that the software interface for the C410 is different than that for the 3310.  I can't figure out how to associate a custom paper size with the photo tray.  To test my theory this evening, I told Word that my envelope size was 5 x 7.  The printer didn't hesitate to take an envelope from the photo tray.  Of course the return address went into a dark void because the envelope is not 5 x 7.
The difference between the two interfaces is that the 3310 has both printing shortcuts as well as "Print Task Quick Sets."  The C410 only has printing shortcuts.
If anyone can help me, I'll be very grateful!  I've probably spent hours trying to get this figured out, and I have no idea what to do.

    Hi,
Which Microsoft product (application) are you using ? Printer supports the following custom sizes:
From ADF: Custom-sized media (ADF) between 127 to 216 mm wide and 241 to 305 mm long (5 to 8.5 inches wide and 9.5 to 12 inches long)
From input tray: Custom-sized media between 76.2 to 216 mm wide and 101 to 762 mm long (3 to 8.5 inches wide and 4 to 30 inches long)
You need to select right custom size from the application.
    Regards.

  • HP Photosmart 3210 installed on my iMac But is showing as  but is showing as HP Color Laserjet 2800 series PS which means I no longer have access to all the paper options especially the photo tray

I have recently purchased an iMac running Lion. The HP Photosmart 3210 printer was connected through the network and I was happy that it recognised the printer - good old Mac's!!
However, when I tried to print some of my photos from the photo tray, the option was not available and when I looked at the printer properties, it was showing as a HP Color LaserJet 2800 Series PS which does not have all the paper options I had before. Reinstalling the software from HP did not make any difference - do I now have to buy a new printer as well???

I suggest opening the Print & Scan System Preferences, then highlight your HP Photosmart printer in the printers list and delete it by pressing the minus sign. Now, re-add the printer by clicking on the plus sign and select the printer. Make sure that the 'Print Using:' pull down aut selects the correct driver for your printer. If it doesn't, pull down the list and manually select the correct driver using the 'Select Printer Software' option. Hopefully that will resolve your issue.

  • How can I get my Photosmart B8550 to print envelopes from the photo tray?

I have a Photosmart B8550 printer.  I print a LOT of envelopes for greeting cards through Stamps.com.  I would like to be able to load invitation envelopes in the photo tray so I don't have to keep switching between paper and envelopes.  I tried it and the only thing it will print is photo paper (or 4x6 card stock)

  • My printer has stop printing from the photo tray. I need to place the photo stock in the main tray

I've a HP PhotoSmart Plus printer B210a.  The printer will no longer print from the photo tray.  I'm still able to get prints; but I must place the photo stock in the main tray.  It becomes a problem, because I sometimes forget the photo stock is the main tray and I waste photo stock when I do my regular printing and only get part it because the photo was still in the tray.  Anyway to fix this?

    Hi there wmcook,
Could you provide the community with a little more information to help narrow troubleshooting? What operating system are you using and are there any errors when attempting to print from the photo tray?

  • How can I print from my ipad to the plain paper tray not the photo tray?

    I have a new
    HP Photosmart Plus All-in-One Printer - B209a
and an ipad on my showroom floor.
I let my customers use the ipad to browse through photos of items that are not on display, then print some of the photos. Right now the print job always goes to the photo tray - but I want it to print on plain letter size paper.  If there is no photo paper in the tray, the print job fails with an out of paper error.
Is there a way to get this printer to print photos from the ipad photos app onto the standard paper tray?
Thanks in advance for any insight you can give me.
    Richard

Photos will always print from the photo tray, if the printer has one. This cannot be configured by the user currently.

  • EPrint prints photo using my main tray and not the photo tray

    Hello,
Thanks for reviewing my question.  I just bought the HP Photosmart C410 printer and setup the ePrint.  When I print a photo from my iPhone it prints on the photo on the 8.5 x 11 paper instead of the photo tray.  What gives?
    Many Thanks
    Peter

    Hey PDonstant,
    1. You can go into the setup menu on the printer and go into preferences. In preferences you can go to Device Printer Tray Select and choose prompt for tray. This will give you the option to print to photo paper or Legal size.
    2. You can try downloading the HP ePrint Home & Biz app and printing from there. You have the option to select the paper size and type from the app.

  • Why does AirPrint from iWork apps use the photo tray?

    Hi,
I just bought a new Canon Pixma MG6250 as I read it had AirPrint support.
What it also has is double paper trays - one for photo paper and one for standard.
Now for some reason, printing from the Pages iWork app selects the photo tray. If there is no paper in the photo tray it will not print, even if the document is plain text and there is plenty of paper in the standard tray.
This is not the way I expected it to work. Can anyone confirm whether it is the same on other printers?
    Thanks!
    /b

Again, the problem likely resides with AirPrint, not the Canon printer.  AirPrint doesn't have the capability to allow you to select trays, although in theory it should know the difference between a Pages document and a photo and use the proper paper.  For whatever reason, Airprint is telling the printer to pull photo paper when printing a Pages document.  It may be a default setting because the Pixma is really designed to print photos primarily, but who knows....
Have you tried using the Canon printing app for the iPad?  I ask because I have an HP LaserJet, and while AirPrint works fine, the HP Printing App allows for a much wider range of settings when I print.  For example, I can choose photo size, type of paper, etc.  Photos printed using Airprint are only 4x6, while with the App I can choose 2x3, 4x6, or 5x7.  I can still print wirelessly using the App, just like AirPrint.  I don't know if the Canon app only allows photos, or if other documents (Word, PDF, etc.) can also be printed (they can with the HP app).  It's worth a look, though.

  • How can I get to the photo tray when using iphoto with HP C6280 all-in-one printer

How do I get the photo tray option to come up in iphoto from my mac notebook when I have an HP C6280 all-in-one printer

I have an HP all-in-one C5140.  When I print from iPhoto the dialog that comes up has a "Presets" drop down at the bottom.  One of the choices is "Print from Photo Tray."  Is that there on yours?  If not make sure you have the latest software from HP.

  • How may I print out a picture from paper and not the photo tray?

How may I print out a picture from paper and not the photo tray?

From paper?  Do you have a digital image of it on your iPhone?
"Photo tray"?  What do you mean here?  The iPhone does not have a photo tray.  Printers have trays.

  • Printer won't load photo paper from the photo tray

My HP C7280 won't load the 4x6 photo paper from the photo tray.  The photo tray moves in towards the feeder, but fails to actually load the paper into the feeder.  Any suggestions on how to correct it?  Thank you.

    Hey,
Please take some time and look through this document to make sure that you are loading the paper properly,

These are the Macintosh instructions but the steps to prepare the photo print are the same but they are steps you would do on Windows just ignore the instructions.

  • I cannot print pictures using the photo tray and 4x6; 5x7 paper

I have tried everything to make my new printer print photos on my hp notebook onto photo sized paper using the photo paper tray on the printer.  I am not a novice and don't understand why it doesn't work.  BUT I have heard from other that they have the same problem.

Welcome to the HP Community Forum.
I am sorry you are having problems -- it is perhaps a problem with the printer - it can happen, although it is rare that a new printer just won't print photos at all.  There may be something that can be done.
I just replaced a nice Photosmart 7520 with a new Officejet 8630 - the 8630 is a great printer; like your 7640, the Officejet 8630 lacks a separate photo tray.  I do miss that photo tray.  Sigh.
Your printer should do this -- assuming that there is not something actually wrong with the printer -- and that you have the Full Feature Software installed -- that you have the Printing Preferences set up properly -- and that there is not something else odd going on.
For example, it may be something as simple as the Printing Preferences not being able to detect that the Paper is the right Media type, that the paper is in the right location - tucked into the temporary "photo tray" with the paper guides shoved against it - or that paper is in the right orientation.  Something...
    I can offer the following:
The basics on loading the paper and prepping the printer come from the User Guide:
HP Envy 7640 e-All-in-One User Guide
See Page 11 and Page 21
If you have not yet done so, install the Full Feature Software for the Printer.
