HP Photosmart Studio Keeps Crashing
Like many here, I recently upgraded to 10.6 and the update to 10.6.6. Although I finally got around the scan/print problems, I cannot get Photosmart Studio to stay open. It keeps crashing. Part of the error message I am getting is below. The printer itself is a HP Photosmart C4280. I really like the Studio software and would like to get it to work. Any suggestions?? Thanks much.

Yes, at HP people are having driver problems with scanning and printing. That is not my problem. I have found an old link here with this same problem. Unfortunately, I'm not capable of adjusting code. I was hoping in the meantime, someone came up with something.

Using recompressed files with same name -- DVD Studio keeps crashing!
Hi,
I completed a project for a client, but they now want music added to certain parts of it. Because there are so many menus, buttons, etc., I decided to add the music in FCP, recompress the files using the same name as the original file used in DVD Studio, and hoped that everything would then relink.
It does relink (it gives me the message that assets may have changed timing, etc) but any time I try to do something (like Simulate it), it crashes.
What am I doing wrong? Is there a better or easier way to solve this problem? Would greatly appreciate anyone's help.
Thanks! In theory it SHOULD work, FCP seems to do a good job updating say if you are using a Photoshop file and you change it. The timeline in FCP shows the change and I never seem to get any problems there. With DVDSP, however, it's a whole different story. As the previous poster said, change the name and that should work. It sounds like your project might be beyond fixing that way however.
Here's a little more on the subject of replacing assetts and what I learned: http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=9788507#9788507 -
Microsoft Visual Studio Professional 2012 keeps crashing at random times
This has been occuring very frequently that the Visual Studio 2012 (4.5..51209) keep crashing during build or Publish. I also looked at the check box for Enable extended Transact-SQL verification as unchecked. This is happening more frequently.
Does anyone has any clue why this keep crashing?
ThanksHi Mubeen, please verify you have updated to the latest SQL Server database tooling bits
from the download page and see if this still occurs for you.
If this issues is reproduceable on the latest SSDT bits, I'd suggest capturing the event log for what is going wrong and then opening a connect
bug for this issue at https://connect.microsoft.com/SQLServer/feedback/CreateFeedback.aspx and
use the category "Developer Tools(SSDT, BIDS, etc.)". We're trying to track all bugs through connect so that you can tell when we have fixed the issue and we can request
more information. Please include the event log (instructions on this below) plus any other useful information you can provide, such as an example of exact steps to reproduce the problem.
Gathering an Event Log for SSDT
For diagnostic purposes we would like you to gather an event log for the issue that you are experiencing in SSDT. In order to gather a log and send it to a member of
the team, please follow the steps below.
Open a new command prompt as Administrator.
Run the following command
logman create trace -n DacFxDebug -p "Microsoft-SQLServerDataTools" 0x800 -o "%LOCALAPPDATA%\DacFxDebug.etl" -ets
logman create trace -n SSDTDebug -p "Microsoft-SQLServerDataToolsVS" 0x800 -o "%LOCALAPPDATA%\SSDTDebug.etl" -ets
Run whatever the target/issue scenario is in SSDT.
Go back to the command prompt and run the following commands
logman stop DacFxDebug -ets
logman stop SSDTDebug -ets
The resulting ETL files will be located at %LOCALAPPDATA%\SSDTDebug.etl & %LOCALAPPDATA%\DacFxDebug.etl and can be navigated to using Windows Explorer.
Please attach this file when creating the connect bug
NOTE - These logs will only be used by Microsoft product team members in order to better diagnose the problem you are experiencing
with SSDT and will not be shared elsewhere. If you want to make sure that there is no private information in your ETL file, the SSDTDebug.etl file can be opened and analyzed using the Windows Event Viewer.
To do this, open the Windows Event Viewer application. In the right-hand panel, select Open Saved Log. Navigate to the location where you saved the log, open, and review
the contents of the trace.
Thanks,

Soundtrack Pro 2 keeps crashing...please somebody help :(
So here's my problem.
I am running Soundtrack Pro 2 on my Mac Pro along with my Digi003. Both Final Cut Studio 2 and Logic Studio 8 are installed on my computer. Every application works fine except for STP2 that keeps crashing all the time.
I tried to uninstall it, reinstall it, reinstall Compressor, downloaded updates, Core Audio updates as well for the 003, downloaded the last Pro Applications Support but nothing seems to cut it.
The issue is as follow. I launch STP, the application scans (for the hundredth time) my plugins and detects something like 287 plugins. HOWEVER, the application crashes when the counter goes to 290.
My personal feeling is that the problem might come from either a conflict between Final Cut Studio 2 and Logic Studio 8 that installed both STP2 or, most likely, three plugins (the difference between 290 and 287) that STP2 has a problem with.
These last plugins scanned seem to be Amplitube X-Gear, a demo I deleted, Melodyne, that I downloaded lately and I guess something else. Also, I precise that I have not been able to rn STP for almost a year and as I am about to work on the post of a new film, I would love to use it.
The last thing I did was running the Terminal app that gave me a detailed report of the problem. I don't understand where it comes from though. So here's the report. If somebody can help, I greatly appreciate it!

Why does my Macbook Pro keeps crashing recently
I've got my Macbook Pro for my studies. As a design student, design softwares dominates and are extremely important for us.
Recently (I have no idea why) My Macbook just keep crashing and crashing crashing non-stop. This Macbook is approx. more than 1month old but less than 2 months. This crashing event started around last friday, when i headed to my studio and 1st thing was to switch it on (I seldom shut my Mac down, just close it and head to sleep), after using it for no more than 45mins, the blue screen or rather 'the blue screen of death' that my friend called it, just popped out all of a sudden.
Tried to get it on, it hung with a white screen right after i switch it on, the Apple logo and spinning wheel appeared. After resting it for about 5mins, i was able to get it on, i started trouble shooting manually, and found out that my Mac crashes when i was using Google Chrome (My main browser) halfway.
I changed to Safari from then on and found out that my Mac crashes when i use MSN messenger. So i changed to Adium. Then my sister borrowed my Mac to open .FLV files using Adobe media player and it crashed again while she tried putting it in full screen. I avoided all these and after 2 days, i switched on AutoCad on my Mac and it crashed again, while its loading.
I tried calling Apple for help but they told me they couldn't tell me more because it hard to say whether its software problems, or my Mac's hardware problem.
I've used Google Chrome and MSN since the very start and no problems surfaced until then. And i'm sure these popular apps like Adobe Media Player, Chrome, MSN and AutoCad are NOT suppose to crash because these apps are widely known and my Macbook is rather new.
These are the following hangs that i've been facing :
- Blue screen with vertical stripes
- Horizontal stripes with typical green and pink pixel
- Screen just froze
- Screen froze, but cursor still moving
- White screen right after the Apple Logo & spinning wheel at Start-up
- Soft blue screen right after the Apple Logo & spinning wheel at Start-up, right before log-in
I'm in desperate need of help, please kindly advice,
Wilson Yeo,
Thank youI agree with Apple. It is hard to say, but from the list you provide I would guess it's a problem with the mainboard. What I definitely do know is what you have to do: Go to an Apple store and tell them what happens. They will most probably replace the mainboard.

Ps cs6 keeps crashing on Vaio z
Hi,
Both the beta and now the retail version of photoshop cs6 keeps crashing on my vaio z (VPCZ23Z9E).
I have tried countless reinstalls and both cs5 and cs5,5 works just fine. I suspects its the graphic driver for the external graphic crad (located in the dock).
Unfortunately - that driver is a custom sony one and no other is available.
Here is my system log:

I found some crash-files inside my appdata temp folder named "Crash_2012-05-14_10-49-43_Photoshop.txt" and "Crash_2012-05-14_11-59-36_sniffer.txt". Inside the "sniffer" files there is just a "1" and inside the "photoshop" one there is:
" 1
GetImageViewResourceSharingGLContext"
Hope someone can help
Thanks in advanceThe only optioins that I see are going with a version of Photoshop, that did not interface so closely with the video driver - not the easiest thing to do, as older versions are just not likely to be sold from a legit reseller; go with a different computer, and one that is much more capable of running PS CS 6; waiting for Sony to do something.
Such laptops are fine for general computing (Sony's target audience), such as word processing, e-mail, Web browsing and some spreadsheet work. They are not, however, suitable for intense graphic work (not Sony's target audience).
A stock Fiat 500 is probably a good vehicle for day-to-day urban commuting, but would be ill-suited at Le Mans. With PS CS 6, and the need to interface so deeply with the video driver, the stakes have been increased, and by quite a bit. Were you trying to edit video with Adobe Premiere Pro CS 6, you would be even farther behind the curve.
Did you explore the laptop video driver Web site, linked above? However, with the dual card setup in that Sony, I rather doubt that it would be of much use - that docking station will likely negate using the "roll-your-own" video driver. Some of the same issues can arise with laptops that have both an nVidia, or AMD/ATI chip, PLUS an embedded Intel HD graphics chip, and automatically switch between those. Turning OFF the embedded Intel is often the only way to get some graphics intense programs to run.
Sorry for the bad news, though maybe a Sony guru will have some workaround for you.
Good luck,

How do I export when FCP keeps crashing for large QuickTime exports?
Forum,
I have a 108-minute finished Final Cut Pro project. Ultimately, I'd like to burn it on a DVD so that it can be watched by any Joe-Schmoe using an ordinary DVD player. I'll be using DVD Studio Pro to do the burning. And before this, I plan to compress using Apple Compressor.
But...
I can't export this file to QuickTime! FCP keeps CRASHING about halfway through the process. I'm preserving the Current Settings, which, by the way, are XDCAM EX 1080p24 VBR.
I have four internal hard drives used as follows:
D1 OSX and FCP
D2 audio media
D3 visual media
D4 location of FCP files and scratch disk
I also have a MyBook USB2.0 external drive available should this be of use.
Any suggestions for a viable workflow here? Should I be exporting to QuickTime first? Is my configuration doomed? Should I export straight to Compressor?
thanks,
ShankedIs there a way to do this WITHOUT your suggested software?
Sure, but its very manual and the Corrupt Clip Finder really just automates that for you ... but I get your point about keeping things clean and can't fault that philosophy.
First, you can use the Tools > Render Manager to delete all the sequence's render files and references. Then just play through the entire sequence (in the sequence RT menu you can enable the option to Play Base Layer Only). If the corruption was in one of the render files then you should now be able to play through without issue. If the corruption is in one of the clips then you should discover that FCP will crash or throw up an error when it tries to play though that clip ... keep a note of where this error occurs as thats your corrupt clip. Similarly, after trashing renders you can re-render, keep an eye on the render progress ... the error will be thrown proportionate to the area of the timeline where the corrupt source clip is contained. Additionally, yes, you can use the Reconnect Media function to selectively reconnect your source media to your masterclips, clip by clip ... the one that won't reconnect is going to be the problem child. That's the one you need to recapture/reimport from source.
Hope it helps

Problem im getting is my computer keeps crashing after about 5mins from startin up cold and then continues to crash and reboot or freeze and reboot until it gets to the point i cant log in to my user account becuase it constantly crashes. i've gone thru the motions of taking out all the components one by one and the only time i never had the machine crash was when the soundcard was taken out.
I have tried to download a driver update for it but keep getting error messages saying that the download cannot be installed, im at my wits end with it and could do with some help.....
Any help would be welcome...

Message Edited by DJ_Benson on 08-6-2005 06:46 PMRight, i have now done a complete format of my harddri've, i have done a fresh install of XP Pro, i have reinstalled audidgy and still my comp is crashing, also when i done the install of S/B drivers and software i noticed that i have now lost the line input which is no good for me makin demo's, music and streamin audio and i cant get any audio thru my comp...
Is there anyone at creative who can seriously address this issue as it is not just myself who is cheesed off here, i've also read and posted in the 2 page topic that everyone is having the same problems which system hangs, freeze ups and crashes and after 3 weeks of trying to get an answer to my problems and im still no nearer to sorting this, I have bought this soundcard and built this machine to near recording studio spec so i can use it in a studio enviroment and im now being held up and cannot get any work done until this issue is resolved.
gettin very stressed about it now and would apprieciate a swift reply from creative...
Thanks...

My fairway solitaire apps keeps crashing on 2 iPads. Anyone having this problem. How can I solve
Fairway Solitaire is a very large app because it has nearly 1000 unique holes to play. Because of that, many devices get bogged down over time. I find that if you shut off your device completely and turn it back on, many of the sluggishness or crashing is solved.
Also, just as Apple recommends with any app, remember to back-up your data to iCloud often. Fairway Solitaire saves data locally (to your device) and not to the cloud yet. The developer, Big Fish Studios, said that they are building the game to save to the cloud, but that hasn't been implemented at this time.
If you do not back-up your data via iCloud, you may lose all progress, golf bucks, stars, cups, trophies, and records if the app or the device resets itself. -

Does anybody have similar experiences on FCP 6.02 (of Final Cut Studio 2). We encounter very often crashing. When we were using FCP 5, everything works fine, until we upgraded to FCP 6.0.
We have tried using OS X tiger (10.4.x) and Leopard (10.5.1) with latest update on everything. However, the FCP 6.02 still crashes very often without any noticeable reasons.
Our configuration:
Mac Pro C2D, 7GB RAM, 7300 Graphics card, Blackmagic Extreme HD I/O card, wireless and bluetooth installed.
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.
MikeBefore I post the questions in the forum, I did do a clean installation on everything and upate to the latest version of everything, including FCP and Leopard.
I did a clean installation by re-partition the disk and install OSX Leopard from a newly bought box set instead of doing the upgrade from the original 10.4.3 Tiger. I install FCS 2 without installing the FCS1. Then I update to the latest version until OSX did not show any updates when I check with the "update" built-in function of OSX.
I was using 3 internal disks to form a stripped raid 0. I was told by someone that the bandwidth requirement is higher on FCP6. I finally bought a raid card and add 8 SATA disks in Raid 5 configuration, which improve the R/W speed from 150MB/s to 400MB/s.
After adding the new raid array, FCP did crash less and running smoother but it still crashes sometime without reason.
Even worth, I bought another set of FCS 2 on my Macbook Pro, the Motion 3 keep crashing without any hints too.
Did anybody experience the same crashing problem and any suggestion to stop the crashing or to "prevent" it happens or some "work around" are very welcome and appreciated.
Thanks in advance. -
FCP keeps crashing EXC_BAD_ACCESS (SIGBUS)
Good morning all,
Our FCP keeps crashing. Usually during scrubbing or trimming. But sometimes also out of the blue. First the image kinda jitters and then FCP crashes.
We reinstalled FCP, reinstalled MacOSX, updated all drivers and whatnot.
Still keeps crashing, could it be the new RAM we put in?
We have our footage on a striped RAID. In this case it's XDCam footage, but we had the same with Prores files.
Any help or suggestions would be great.
Here's the crash report, if anyone can make sense out of that:

"QuickTime"
This crash was caused by QuickTime.
Possible causes include corrupt media, corrupt render files, an unsupported or unstable codec, an image resolution that is too large (this is particularly a problem with Motion as image sizes are limited by the maximum texture size of your graphics card), or a version of QuickTime that is incompatible with your version of Final Cut Studio.
If the crash is happening at startup and you have not set any projects to launch when the application starts, it is likely that you have a mismatched version of QuickTime.
Suggested Actions
Use the Render Manager in Final Cut Pro to trash your render files.
Use the Corrupt Clip Finder to locate the problematic clip and then recapture or attempt to repair it.
If the issue is related to a codec, upgrade the codec if an upgrade is available or consider transcoding your footage to an editing-friendly codec such as ProRes.
If you are using CMYK images, convert them to RGB.
Upgrade Final Cut Pro to bring it in line with your version of QuickTime.

HP Pavilian m7050y & Monitor HP vs 19c keeps crashing after installing windows 7
Hi Forum Experts, hope all is well. Hopefully someone will be able to help me with this problem.
My HP Pavilian m7050y & Monitor HP vs 19c keeps crashing after installing windows 7.
I knew there was a problem when I first installed windows, because the windows logo was not centered on the monitor after intial startups. I did adjust it a little by pressing auto/select on my monitor, and that helped with the centering a bit but it is not perfectly centered.
The screen goes blue and this is the message I get when it crashes and restarts.
Problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage
to your computer.
attempt to reset the display driver and recover from timeout failed.
if this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen,
restart your computer, if this screen appears again, follow
these steps:
Check to make sure any new hardware or software is properly installed.
If this is a new installation, ask your hardware or software manufacturer
for any windows updates you might need.
If problems continue, disable or remove any newly installed hardware
or software. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing.
If you need to use safe mode to remove or disable components, restart
your computer, press F8 to select Advanced Startup Options, and then
select safe mode.

Once windows is fully rebooted all pages, and the display look ok, until it crashes again. I searched for updated drivers on the HP and Windows site but could not find any. The one that is currently installed is called (Generic Pnp Monitor).
Thanks in advance for your expert advice.
Juan.Thank you for the additional information.
Did you run the Win 7 Upgrade Advisor to assure that your computer is compatible? There may be a problem with compatibility. Also, which version of Win 7 are you running; 32-bit or 64-bit?

I've also noticed that most youtube facebookk and even dvds wont ply, they will pop up as a black screen and play but the video doesnt show, only audio. The youtube videos i can rewind and then the video freezes for 4 seconds then plays the video, but the dvds wont do anything when i rewind except still play the audio. Please..
For the above problem, I suggest installing the latest version of Adobe Flash Player.
Now, for my solution to all of your problems. When a computer is going on 3 years old it can begin having these types of problems. It is normally caused by conflicts with drivers and remnants of programs remaining after installing and uninstalling. I believe your best option is to do a System Recovery. This will return the computer to its original configuration. Not only will this remove the conflicts and remnants of programs, but it will increase system performance considerably. Before beginning, however, you should backup your personal data. I do this at least once or twice per year. I like the feel of a new computer without issues.
