HP Photosmart Wireless B109n-z Offline

I've had many problems with connectivity dropping out with this printer. Yesterday I thought I'd solved the problem by reading through some solutions and assigning a static IP address to the printer.
Today my partner wanted to connect to the printer too, he's had the same problems so re-installed the s/w. Now neither of us can connect to the printer wirelessly. I can't connect via an IE page either.
I've downloaded and run the printer and network diagnostic utility. They can't detect the printer. I've run a Wireless Network Test Report and it says it's connected to our wireless network fine and is using the new IP address that I gave it yesterday.
I'd really appreciate it if someone could help me fix this once and for all, I've spent hours with internittant success getting this printer configured wirelessly. I'm losing confidence that this printer will ever work as intended.
My set-up
2 windows 7 laptops running 32-bit
Netgear DGN2000 router
If there's any other information I can provide, please let me know?
Many thanks in advance

Let's set a static IP address for the printer:
- Print a Network Config Page from the front of the printer. Note the printer's IP address.
- Type that IP address into a browser to reveal the printer's internal settings.
- Choose the Networking tab, then Wireless along the left side, then the IPv4 tab.
- On this screen you want to set a Manual IP. Enter the current IP address.
- Use 255.255.255.0 for the subnet (unless you know it is different, if so, use that)
- Leave the gateway and DNS blank. Click 'Apply'
Now, shut down the router and printer, start the router, wait, then start the printer.
After this you may need to redo 'Add a Printer' using the new IP address.

  • HP Photosmart Wireless B109n-z will come online but not STAY online!

In a nutshell: I own a HP B109n-z. It will connect on power on as it should to my main wireless access point and print from all computers on the network. After a while the printer will go offline. Web-interface cannot be reached, the printer will not respond to ping.
To remedy the situation, turn of printer, turn on again on front switch. Printer will connect to wireless AP and print in less than a minute. The printer is currently located 30 miles away from me, so hitting on/off is not an option for me. This printer needs to just STAY online as long as access point and power is supplied. I am - as I write this - connected via remote desktop to my Win 2k8 server, and I get no response when I ping the printer - however everything else on the network works, and I actually see the printer in my routers wireless section. It is just if the printer is in some kind of hibernation.
I've read several topics about the HP Photosmart Wireless B109n-z that goes offline and it seems to be a general problem with this printer. It also seems to be a generel answer from HP forum operators to ask what router the user is using - and then stating that that particular brand of router is flawed and the newest firmware should be installed, then try again. That move seems like a stall to me.
Please - dearest HP support  - do NOT give me that answer. EVERYTHING else in my network setup works, and works ALL the time, every single day. The problem, whatever it is, clearly resides in the printer itself. All my automated daily network operations with regards to back-up and file distribution and automatic emails, plus remote operations have all been running every day for more than a year without needing maintenance. The frustration with this issue is immense.
Please help me get this solved once and for all. Help me make the printer stay online until I turn it off.
    My setup:
1: Main ADSL-modem/router/wireless accesspoint is some kind of Sagem - and I can't do anything about that, it is provided by the only ISP that operates in the area (I live in Denmark). Don't know what box it is - but it uses 'Fast3504_5AD038' firmware. Broadcasts SSID, using 802.11 b + g and WPA/WPA2, running DHCP
HP B109n-z have static IP outside of DHCP range, and is placed ind same subnet as the rest of the network.
2: Attached hardware to entire network:
One Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise Dell machine cabled to the Sagem box. Running 24/7/365, controlled externally  using MSTSC remote desktop every day.
One Linksys WRT54GL router cabled to the Sagem box, running DD-WRT firmware, used as a secondary wireless acces point with its own SSID. Provides wireless internet acces 24/7/364 for laptops and smartphones in the house.
Three HD digital TVs cabled to the Sagem box, receiving IP-tv signal (individually, not same channel/signal)
    2 phonelines (sharing number)
The WRT54GL have a cabled connection to a Windows 7 X64 workstation, providing internet access via cabled onboard LAN from workstation and cabled connection from WRT54GL to Sagem box. Used every day, most of the day.
3 laptops connects wireless to the WRT54GL access point, which in turn - as said before - is cabled to the primary Sagem box, used every day, most of the day
HP B109n-z connects to the wireless access point given by the Sagem box without problems.
All three TVs are connected with CAT-6 cable, all other cables are CAT-5
    Best regards,
    A danish person

OK, I'll give it a shot, but ISP-supplied routers can cause lots of problems - search these forums and you will see that.
Let's set a static IP at the printer, which includes directing the printer to the DNS server, which is sometimes helpful:
Let's set a static IP address for the printer:

    - Type that IP address into a browser to reveal the printer's internal settings.
    - Choose the Networking tab, then Wireless along the left side, then the IPv4 tab.
    - On this screen you want to set a Manual IP. You need to set an IP address outside the range that the router automatically sets (called the DHCP range). You can find the DHCP range of the router using its internal settings page or in its manual. Use the CD that came with your router or type the router's IP address (ends in .1) into a browser.
    - Use 255.255.255.0 for the subnet (unless you know it is different, if so, use that)
    - Enter your router's IP (on the Network Config Page) for the gateway and first DNS. Leave the second one blank.
    - Click 'Apply'.
Now, shut down the router and printer, start the router, wait, then start the printer.
After this you may need to redo 'Add a Printer' using the new IP address.
If this does not work, you can add a "standard" router (Linksys, Netgear or such) to your ISP router and turn off the ISP's wireless.   I have seen this work well many times.  You can turn the ISP's DHCP off as well, but you may have to open a port to the "standard" router.  Attach all devices to the "standard" router.

  • Printing with HP Photosmart Wireless B109N

    Hello,
Could someone tell me if HP Photosmart Wireless B109N is compatible with printing on iOS 4.2.1 ?
Because it doesn't work for me...
    Thank you!

The B109 is not on the list of printers that implement AirPrint:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4356
    http://www.hp.com/sbso/printing/mac/apple-airprint.pdf
This year's version of that printer, the B110, does support AirPrint

  • I just bought a Canon MG5422 It prints fine with the wire but wireless it stays offline.

I just bought a Canon MG5422. It works fine by wire but wireless it stays offline. It appears to find the access point. The printer screen shows me my router name and says it's active. Printer still says offline on the computer. When I try to detect the printer it never does. Where so I go from here? Thanks.

    Hi CarlHuskey
As an additional step we can try, I recommend checking if the printer is set "Offline".
Click the start icon, then click Devices and Printers.
Right-Click the printer's icon and select See what's printing in the dropdown menu.
In the next screen click Printer in the menu bar. If Use Printer Offline has a check mark to the left of it, click Use Printer Offline to remove the check. The printer will now be used online.
If you are still unable to print, uninstall the printer completely and then reinstall.  This will ensure that the drivers and port for your printer are properly configured on the system.
Please feel free to Contact Us for additional troubleshooting if these steps don't work.

  • Photosmart wireless B110 printer has lost its connection with my desktop PC.

My Photosmart wireless B110 printer has lost its connection with my desktop PC. I can still print from my laptop so I know the printer is working fine.
When I check ink levels through 'Printer Proerties' the message I get is 'The computer is unable to establish two-way communication with the device', so I guess this is a clue. I would appreciate any help you can give.
    THank you.

Just as a preliminary step, we're going to go through a complete and clean uninstallation and reinstallation. First if you use a USB cord, make sure to remove it. Do not plug it back in until the software directs you to. Then go through the Devices and Printers, Programs and Features and Device Manager folders and insure that all copies, files, and programs related to the printer are removed. Then as directed, restart the computer.
In the START menu type "%temp%" and press ENTER. Here I want you to press Ctrl+A and hit DELETE. Some of the files will not allow you to delete them, skip those files and delete the majority that allows it.
Then follow this link to download the full feature software and drivers for the printer (be sure to select your correct OS):
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&product=4022343
Install that and let me know the result!
    Have a great day!

  • HP Photosmart B110a constantly goes offline and won't print via USB either

    Macbook Pro OSX 10.6.8
    HP Photosmart B110
I've connected the printer to my wireless network without any issues, but when I first tried to connect my macbook pro to the printer, it would keep disappearing from the network. Once I finally managed to connect it, every time I go to print something now, it will always say it is offline. Even when I try and bypass the wireless connection and connect via USB, it will still say it is offline.
I've have tried reinstalling the printer and driver many times, and I've tried connecting 2 other macbooks via the wireless and all experience the same issue. It is starting to get incredibly frustrating having to reinstall the printer over and over again.
I would appreciate a solution that would prevent it from always going offline, even If I have to give up the wireless 'feature' and permanently print via USB. I do not have time to continuously fiddle with the settings every single time I need to print a document.

You need to set an IP address outside the range that the router automatically sets (called the DHCP range). If you do not know the range, change the last set of numbers (those after the last '.') to 250
    - Use 255.255.255.0 for the subnet (unless you know it is different, if so, use that)
    - Enter your router's IP (on the Network Config Page) for the gateway.
    - Enter 8.8.8.8 for the first DNS and 8.8.4.4 for the second DNS.
    - Click 'Apply'.
Now, shut down the router and printer, start the router, wait, then start the printer.
After this you may need to redo 'Add a Printer' using the new IP address.

    Hello @tiogalady,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I would like to assist you today with resolving the 'offline' issues that you're experiencing when trying to print from your Windows 8 computer to your wirelessly connected HP ENVY 5530 e-All-in-One Printer. Now, recently Microsoft has released a Hotfix for the Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 Operating Systems to 'fix' offline printing issues as Microsoft recognizes this as an issue with their latest Operating System. Therefore, to start, I am going to have you run the Hotfix to see if this resolves the printing issues.
Can I please have you click here to access the Hotfix page. Once the website opens select the 'Hotfix Download Available' button. Allow the Hotfix to run. Please follow any onscreen steps to install the Hotfix.
Once the fix has completed, please test printing again. Should the Offline issue persist there is an additional driver fix that I may need to walk you through. Please respond to this post with the result of your troubleshooting. Good luck!

  • Wireless printer goes offline

I recently purchased an HP Laserjet Pro CP 1025nw wireless printer.  If I turn off the printer it is offline when I turn it back on.  I left it on all night and it was offline this morning.  The only way to resurrect it is to uninstall and install the program.  When I attempt to download solutions, all I get is to uninstall the program - back to square one.  Has anyone else encountered this problem and discovered a fix?

I have tried everything I can find online to correct this.  Nothing works and all I can find online is dated 2008.  Surely Apple has found a cure for this problem by now.  This happened with my hp Photosmart Premium c309a as well.  I thought it was a printer problem but It's happening now with the 7510 that is only a week old.  And please, if you have a cure, don't explain in high tech computer language.  I'm ok with the computer but not that up on high tech stuff.  Thanks.

It is connected wirelessly.  The other printer was connected with a USB.  Getting it to print again---usually by just turning printer off and back on again.  This usually results in getting 1 page printed.  Then I have to do it again.  I have deleted printer and reinstalled.  I have changed IP from automatic to manual.  I unplugged printer for a short time (1-2 minutes) and plugged back in.  I have restarted both IMAC and printer after each process.  This is really frustrating and time consuming, driving me nuts.

  • C4580 Photosmart wireless with HP dv7 notebook and no router....

I purchased a Photosmart c4580 for the wireless capabilities  because we are on the road alot, but I can't seem to set it up.
I have a Verizon broadband Pantech usb connection for internet and I guess it doesn't recognize that.
How would I go about setting this up with my HP dv7 notebook with Vista 64 without a router?
I use the Norton Internet security. Don't know what the heck I'm doing
    Thanks for the help(:

When you first turn on the printer's Wi-Fi radio (press the Wi-Fi button on the printer's front panel and then select Enable Wireless), the printer will be in Ad-Hoc wireless network mode that should allow your notebook to connect directly.
Note that you may have to restore the printer's network configuration if you've had the printer connected to a network before.
From your notebook, you should be able to scan and connect to a wireless network called "hpsetup".  When you connect, it may take several minutes for the notebook to recognize the printer but when it does, you should be able to install the SW to print directly to the printer wirelessly.
