HP Presario CQ60/windows 7

how can i resolve the problem of BOOTMGR image is corrupt message

Hi,
If you don't already have one, use another PC to create a Windows 7 Rescue CD.  Download the relevant ISO from the links below.
Windows 7 32bit
Windows 7 64bit
You should use an application such as ImgBurn to burn the ISO to a CD - a guide on using ImgBurn to write an ISO to a disc is Here.  Once created, or if you already have this, insert the CD into the notebook and restart to boot from it.  Select the Repair option.
Select the 'Repair your Computer' option and follow Option 2 in the guide on the link below to run Start-up Repair – you may need to run this 2 or 3 times.
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/668-system-recovery-options.html
If the above fails to help, make a note of any error messages you may get during the procedure and include them with your next post.

  • I wonder if it's possible to replace my original processor (Intel 575 2ghz) in my presario CQ60-116?

I wonder if it's possible to replace my original processor (Intel 575 2ghz) in my presario CQ60-116? The reason is that I really struggel with streaming live videos (from viaplay.no) on my 3 years old Compaq Presario CQ60-116EO. I might believe that this could be one of the reasons for stream video (Silverlight) is not ok. The other thing I might think it is is the video card (if any), and if that is too poor. Can anyone please help me here as I really like to keep this pc for a while more. I'm really satisfied with it in all other way for my use. That's why I might spend a bit money on it to revitalize the power on it.
    This question was solved.

    Hi again
    Thank U for quick responce.
Sorry abuot this. I'm not really that much of a pc engineer you see. Well here's the required information.
    1. CQ60-116EO            (looks weird comparing to your example?)
    2. FT235EA#UUW
    3. Presario CQ60
Windows Vista Home Premium, 32 bit
The short answer for the CPU upgrade is:  Absolutely!
A internal video upgrade for the system board model in your notebook is not possible. (See the Notebook Upgrade FAQ for other external options)
Your Celeron 575 is at the bottom end of the list of compatible cpus for your notebook. You are fortunate to have chosen one of the few system boards that has so many processors that are compatible to it. All of the processors in the list are duo core processors. The processor currently installed is a Celeron. The performance difference between your CPU and any of these is like the difference between night and day.
The top of the line are these two.
    Intel® Core™2 Duo processors
    (6-MB L2 cache, 1066-MHz front
    side bus (FSB)):
    T9400 2.53-GHz processor
    T9600 2.8-GHz processor
    Intel Core2 Duo processors
    (3-MB L2 cache, 1066-MHz FSB):
    P8600 2.4-GHz processor
    P8400 2.26-GHz processor
    P7350 2.0-GHz processor
    Intel Core2 Duo processors
    (2-MB L2 cache, 800-MHz FSB):
    T5900 2.2-GHz processor
    T5800 2.0-GHz processor
    Intel Pentium® Dual-Core
    processors
    (1-MB L2 cache, 667-MHz FSB):
    T3400 2.16-GHz processor
    T3200 2.0-GHz processor
My reference source is the Compaq Presario CQ60 Notebook PC HP G60 Notebook PC Maintenence and Service guide. Each of the processors listed has BIOS support.
Upgrading the processor involves an almost complete disassembly and reassembly of your notebook. That is best left to experienced individuals.
    Happy upgrading!
    Best regards,

how i install window xp in compaq presario cq60 in my not book! please help me, i have trouble with vista so please sir help me. i can't find cam driver, not work properly with .net. there ar so many problame so please help me please please..........

There is a Guide for that here.
    http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Operating-Systems-and/General-XP-Downgrade-Guide-for-HP-Laptop...
Yours is one of the moderate models and you will find links to all the drivers you need. My own take on this is you are going in the wrong direction. Instead of back to XP you should go forward to Windows 7, but XP can be made to work on that machine. Good luck and feel free to post back with any more questions.

  • NWM 4.9.8225.pure0, d-link wbr2310, windows vista home on Compaq LT presario cq60

    ok here goes...
I use cable to conect to the internet. modem: motorola SB5120
I use a D link WBR 2310 Rev A1 with firmnware 1.0.5 (per thier site the most up to date 9/08)
    http://www.dlink.com/products/?pid=470
(all components but the items below do not have an issue Eg: 2 desktops [1 wired 1 wireless] 1 wireless printer HP C390A, 2 cellular phones, 1 hp LT with vista)
the problem computers are botrh wireless compaq Lts Presario CQ60 (new.. runnig vista home ed. I fully updated the problem was present pior to updates) they come with Nortons internet security and have the windows firewall...
they use a built in  Atheros AR5007 802.11b/g adaptor driver ver. 7.7.0.199
I have Avira  antivir personal on both (the issue was presnet before istallation)
I am on the west coast of the USA
ok in short each day when I want to boot up the LTs they will only get limited conection to the network.  after hitting repair connection nothing will change(*). I then unplug the router wait the ten seconds and repair connection and all is good.. until... (and I have run some tests)..if the LTs are connected to the network prior to 12:00 AM they will stay connected untill such time as they are shut down.  Once shut down, if they are booted up the network is lost, repair wont work and I have to unplug the router again...
in short every day I have to unplug the router for NWM to sync up...
Now if I get one LT on the network (by following the unplugging of roputer above) and later deside to get the second up and runnig I have to unplug the router again...  this will cause the first lt to loss connectioin as such I set it up so that both Lts need to go have the roouter unplugged to repair the connection...
    * when I stated nothing happens, for example when the other items on the network need to have the connection repaired you can see on the network map the connection Xing out and moving and changing as the repair is underway and items being reset...
in the case of these laptops the Red X only shows on the LT side and does not move or change at all on the map durring the repair process...
for added info.. I have verified both windows firewall and Nortons have exceptions for:
    "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Pure Networks Shared\Platform\nmsrvc.exe"
    "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Pure Networks Shared\Platform\nmapp.exe"
    "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Pure Networks Shared\Platform\nmctxth.exe"
    I also added:
    C:\Program Files\Pure Networks\nmapp.exe
and I think the other was
    C:\Program Files\Pure Networks\Network Magic\Support\nmsprt.exe
any help would be great... as this is getting anoying....
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

to date nothing has worked..  compaq/hp have suggested I restore the system...  I myself think it is crazy since I have two laptops and one I have only installed 3 items..
    1. the printer software...
    2. anti virus
    3. NWM
other then that it is a clean system...
even then on my other laptop I have only installed maybe 2-3 other programs...
for the restore of the first system...
I am leaving it clean for a few days...
in that I mean I will utilize windows for the wireless connnection to my network...
and I will forgo the anti virus installation and printer installation....
I will get all thee windows updates and compaq updates but I will try to install them one at atime to see if there is any problems
one thing I did nottice on the laptops....
when the systems were booted up in the moring, the network map would show items that were connnected the night before, but not on/connected in the am...
as if the NWM or the system was not refreshing the network status and updating...
also windows firewall and defender would be turned off.... and would need to be turned back on....
Ill keep you posted....  on the clean system...

  • Compaq Presario CQ60-211dx - Windows XP Sounds Are Low Pitched

I know I'm going to get replies saying to upgrade my OS from Windows XP.
I have a Compaq Presario CQ60-211dx running Windows XP Professional 32 bit. The system sounds are kind of low pitched. Let's say the system audio is at C but my sound is at B flat. It's starting to become kind of annoying, because I don't really like sounds that are off tone. Also whenever I close and open the lid on the laptop, the sounds just don't work, until I restart the laptop. I have Conexant HD Smartaudio 221.
    Anyone help?

    Hi @darkness12445
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I understand that you are having sound quality issues. I am happy to assist. When I looked up your notebook I found that there were no drivers for XP on the support page, which would mean it was not sold configured for XP. So the drivers you are using would not have been customized to be compatible with the other standard devices in this series of notebooks. That may be part of the problem.
    But for now...

  • HP Compaq Presario CQ60-320sa vista product key fade.

Hello help me please- HP Compaq Presario CQ60-320sa
I got HP Compaq Presario CQ60-320sa and the window vista product key is fade. I can read first, second and last.
Now my earlier hard disk got crashed because of bad sector and I have to installed new one which I did now I want window vista product key for activation and the sticker back of my laptop cover is fade can't read all product key. If I download HP- USB RECOVERY FLASH DISK UTILITY does this software let me reset my laptop to factory version and won't ask me for product key. Thank you for your time.

I understand you need a product key.
An HP recovery should have Vista already activated with the product key for the system.  Do you have access to recovery media for this system (disks or a USB recovery drive)?  If you can perform an official HP recovery, there shouldn't be a need to get the product key off the bottom of the notebook.  The utility you mentioned only creates the media from the recovery partition on supported systems. Since the HDD was replaced due to a failure, I am afraid that the flash disk utility will not be of use as the recovery partition is not present on replacement HDDs.
Some users have had success with contacting Microsoft regarding the unreadable product key.  They might be worth a try.
According to this page, the HP part number for the recovery kit for this system is 515724-031.  You might be able to find the appropriate recovery disk set from a third party ensuring the part number matches.  You might want to verify with HP that the recovery disks are not available from HP before using a third party source.

  • What harddisk do i need for my compaq presario CQ60

what hardd disk do I need For my Compaq Presario CQ60? And where would be a good place to try and get a quality one for a lower price? Thanks ahead of time.

    Hi,
The drive on the link below is an example of one that would be fine for your notebook as long as it is the same capacity or larger than your current HDD.
    320Gb Hard Drive
The procedure to replace the Hard Drive is detailed starting on Page 51 of your Maintenance & Service Guide.
Once done, simply use your Recovery DVDs to reinstall the Operating System on the new drive.
If you don't have your Recovery Discs, you can order a replacement set using the link below.
    Order HP Recovery Discs.
If you have any problem with this link, order them directly from HP.
If you live in the US, contact HP Here.
If you are in another part of the world, start Here.

  • Broken display, Presario CQ60-211DX

My kid walked away from the computer with the power cord wrapped around his leg. The computer fell off the table and the screen hit the edge of a wooden chair on the way to the floor. Now it looks like a broken window (a jagged line across the screen) with bright screen-like colors above the line, black beneath. So basically the display is physically wrecked.  Ruughly how much would a replacement screen cost, how would we get it done, etc? Or would we be better off tossing it and buying a whole new machine? Or would the warranty cover this at all?
The computer is a Presario CQ60-211DX Notebook he's had for all of 6 weeks.
    Thanks

The only warranty that would cover it is a physical damage insurance plan. If you bought the enhanced warranty through a retailer that coverage might apply and I think HP also offers it and you would remember if you bought it because it is very very salty. The standard warranty does not cover it at all. Now, the repair. The price of screens has come down quite a bit in the last couple years. Here is one on eBay for about $130:
    $130 eBay screen
That is about the average price we are seeing now where it was $250 not too long ago.
I have not replaced a CQ60 screen but even the dv9000, its direct ancestor, and a very difficult one to work on, was manageable for an amateur to replace the screen. We can get you the Service Manual and it is maybe a 45 minute job. If you ever built a model as a kid, can turn a screwdriver carefully and can follow plans you can do it. Otherwise, the labor is likely to be another $125 or so at a computer shop. The best way to do it is to get the screen then start calling around for the best price and tell them you already have the screen. You do want to remove the old one first as it is better to find the screen by the model of the screen rather than the model of the laptop because so many makers now use the same exact screens so you can do a broader search. Once you remove the old one you will see it is not too hard to put the new one back in.
Even worst case at $250 or so with labor it is far cheaper than a new laptop. Just don't let people tell you it is going to be $400 or so, which you will hear.

I just bought my laptop model Compaq Presario CQ60-110EE last Jan 1, 2009. I installed Windows Vista Premium and started to look for drivers at www.hp.com. • Presario cq60 reflash the bios

Some bad guy managed to alter the bios on my Presario CQ60 laptop.
I left it connected to the net overnight, and in the morning as I was finishing my download, poof!  The keyboard is now worthless, it's impossible to boot (I was running OpenBSD.)
    Does HP even support refreshing the BIOS?  I had been running F.25;
I noticed that the model and serial number are missing now, replaced by zeros.
Can this be repaired?  Or am I just stuck?
I've learned that OpenBSD can be hacked this way.  This is very bad!!, it's supposed to be a highly secure OS.
Please let me know how to fix this, thank you.

    Hello @brublag ,
Welcome to the  HP support forums and thank you for posting.  First thing I would need to know is what Operating system are you trying to install.  The reason I am asking is there are settings in the BIOS under the boot section that could help with this problem.
If you systems boot settings in the BIOS are UEFI or Legacy will make a difference as if you will be able ot load an operating system or not.  Windows 7 will not load or boot with UEFI.   Here are some links that may help you.
About UEFI and the Startup Menu.
HP Notebook PCs - Configuring the Boot Order in the System BIOS
The next options to check is for an actual usb bios flash that was mentioned in a previous post by @SFarhan.
    1. Download the last BIOS version from the web site at:http://www8.hp.com/us/en/support-drivers.html
    2. Execute the BIOS file (it should be spxxxx.exe). The files will extract to:C:\swsetup\spxxxxx
    3. Copy the .bin file onto the USB drive.
    4. Connect the USB drive to the PC that needs the BIOS update and turn on the PC.
    5. Press F10 to go into the BIOS menu and select File.
    6. Select Flash System ROM.
    7. Select the USB device.
    8. Select the .bin file and follow the onscreen instructions.
I hope this was of help please let me know.

  • Compaq presario cq60 210-us bios update failed

I tried to update the BIOS of my Compaq Presario CQ60-210US notebook using the driver downloaded from the HP Support website. The update failed, the computer locked up and would not take any input from the keyboard or the mousepad. I did a hard reset and now the notebook won't boot at all.
I tried following the steps to restore a corrupted BIOS (windows key + B + power for 3 seconds) several times but the notebook still will not boot.
There are instructions for using an HP_TOOLS USB drive to restore the BIOS, but I can't figure out how to create that USB drive. There are no links and no instructions to create it. When I search HP.com it takes me right back to the same page.
