HP Printer 1606DN Wont print on Network

I have installed an HP Laserjet 1606DN on my network but can not print to it. I can ping and get to the web interface but no printing.
If I put the printer on to a small switch with a laptop the printer works.
Any suggestions?

I understand you can access the embedded web server for the printer but you can't print but when the printer is connected to a small switch with a laptop the printer works.
The printer should be connected with a ethernet cable and going directly into a router. (not a switch)
Make sure the printer isn't in a error state.
Print off a new configuration page.

Turn off any firewalls and antivirus software temporarily to test the printer.
I would download and run the Print and Scan Doctor to fix common printing and scanning
problems.

Please provide the following information so I can assist you better.
What is the IP Address?
What network setup do you have? (Modem/router/2 routers/booster/airport/switch)
What brand are they?
How many devices are already setup on the router? (computers, printers, ipads)
What operating system are you using?

  • Printer suddenty wont print Excel or Quickbooks but will print Word docs

    Help!
    My HP 6500 just decided to stop printing Excel, Quickbooks and Efax but WILL print Word documents and other files. When I hit "okay" ont he print menu the printer head goes back and forth but no ink comes out. Again, the weird thing is that Word docs are fine and print out.
    I have downloaded the driver software twice and turned printer on and off and unplugged it from back of machine.

    Welcome to the HP Forums!
    I see that your HP Deskjet 3050a will print an internet page but not any documents on Windows 7. I am sorry to hear this but happy to help!
    How is the printer connected? Wireless or USB?
    Are you able to make standalone copies with the printer? Copy Text or Mixed Documents.
    In the meantime, I would recommend to try our HP Print and Scan Doctor, and let me know what happens!

  • Jetdirect 300x print server wont print from my imac

    I have an iMac running 10.6.8 and I would like to print over my newtwork using a hp jetdirect 300x which is attached to a hp 5p lazerjet printer. The windows xp notebook i have works fine through it. I can see a jetdirect socket on the list on my Mac when i am trying to connect to it using the add a printer function and i printed out the pcl config page using my windows notebook. I used the ip address from there but nothing i do gets a print order through. either it unendingly tries to  connect and doesn't or it shows a printer in the selection window but registers a busy will try in 5 seconds or does not connect. I understand apple discontinued appletalk with this operating system and I could find no drivers or printserver software on hp's website for apple to download to make this work. can anyone suggest something to do to make my iMac and printserver work together. I have another hp color lazerjet 2600n that works with the iMac just by plugging it in and loading the cd that came with it. I don't have a cd for the Jetdirect 300x. Could i get one somewhere and would it have the apple drivers to make this work if I could?

  • Printer C6180 wont print

    My Photosmart C6180 will not recognize that the new maginta ink cartrige is full, I have tried two new ones.  And it will not print with black only.  I shut the printer off and started over with no success.  Also shut it down again, removed all ink cartriges and installed them after turning printer back on.  No success.  Any ideas what to do?

    Let's perform a hard reset. To do so, leave the printer on and unplug the power cable for 1 minute. While it is unplugged, hold down the power button on the printer for 10-15 seconds to release any built up power, then after the minute has passed, plug the printer back in.
    If the issue remains unresolved after following all of the steps above, I recommend contacting HP.  Don't hesitate to call, although the printer may be out of warranty, the cartridges could be in warranty; therefore, there wouldn't likely be a fee for the phone support. HP will, at HP's option, either replace products under warranty that prove to be defective or refund the purchase price.
    They could even determine after troubleshooting that it is a problem with the printer, in which case they may offer you a discount on a newer model.
    The number to call HP is 1-800-474-6836 for Canada and US, or you can Contact HP Worldwide.
    To find the “Warranty Ends” date, look in the following table for the date's location on each product. The date follows the YYYY/MM/DD or YYYY/MM format, where YYYY indicates the year, MM indicates the month, and DD indicates the day.

  • Have a C7280 Printer. Wont print from (2) MANGANTA cartridges light and dark. Rebooted, changed cart

    Rebooted,changed cartridges, Cleaned printer heads numerous times, test report shows these not working.
    HELP what to do.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8000 wireless wont print with iPhone 5s

    This printer billed as Wireless that I purchased in 2011 wont print with IPhone or iPad because it is not on list of Air Print devices So I was told by HP to buy a new one and since it wasnt equipped with HP's "eprint" the app thats out there to make up for this will not work. I was speaking to sales person to avoid paying but I cant believe this. There are better printers but that doesnt make this a throw away. and who wants to buy a wireless printer that wont print wirelessly? Help!

    Sorry to hear you're having a rough go with the printer.
    As for the 8000 wireless, I would guess that you got a newbie tech rep on the phone. I couldn't figure out why they said there's no workaround, because I had been able to get older printers going with HP troubleshooting documents. So here are a few that might help:
    1. Install the printer on your network (if it isn't already) Installing the Printer Software for a Wireless Network Connection
    2. Download the HP E-Print Mobile App for iOS. It should still work with non- eprint printers: https://itunes.apple.com/ca/app/hp-eprint/id299531​647?mt=8

  • Officejet 6600 mac OS X 10.6 wont print but Windows 7 does

    This has got to be a Mac problem...
    I just purchased an HP Officejet 6600 and connected wireless to my network.
    I connected my Windows 7 machine wirelessly and prints flawlessly. 
    I connected 2 of my Mac Book Pro 10.6.8 Snow Leopard machines and although they can connect to the printer, it wont print.  It just says printing in the queue and sometimes will say offline after a while.  
    I have performed software updates on the Mac and have reinstalled the HP software from a fresh download.

    Hi,
    Make sure to enable Multicasting support within the router, as much as I aware it should be disabled by default and will more likely cause such behavior.
    To change the settings logon the router home page.
    Click Security from the top menu.
    Check the box next to Filter Multicast.
    Click Save Settings and reboot the router.
    Now check for any change, I believe it should help resolving such an issue.
    If you still see any simialr behavior I would recommend you to contact your router service provided and check for any further settings which may affect Multicasting streams within the network.

  • Hp laserjet pro p1606dm with yosemite with usb wont print but printed on a network

    hp laserjet pro p1606dm with Mac Yosemite using a USB wont print. Printed however when used on a network. Downloaded a driver again, though driver already installed. Driver was a dmg file and wouldn't open. Forum told me to use Safari to open a dmg file but that didn't work. Help! Want to use the printer at home that I was using at the office.

    I understand that you are having issues printing from a USB connection, but you were able to print by a Wired Network connection. I will certainly do my best to help you.
    The drivers for 10.8 are installed by the Apple Updates.
    Once the printer is connected by a USB cable directly to the Mac, you should be able to just run the Apple Updates to install the drivers automatically. Installing a Mac Printer Driver Using Apple Software Update.
    Delete any of the older drivers first.
    Check the driver name that is installed for the printer. Make sure it shows just the printer's name.
    Click the Apple menu and then click System Preferences. Click Printers & Scanners, highlight the printer name on the left side and on the right side of the screen it should show the printer's name. (Laserjet P1606dn)
    If the full printer name isn't listed correctly, delete it and add the printer name back in from the list. Click the - sign to delete the driver and then click the + sign to add the driver, might have to click the drop down to select the printer's name to add it in.
    Try printing again.
    If you run into any issue, please do the following:
    Repair the Disk Permissions on the Mac:
    Close all applications.
    On the Apple menu bar, click Go, click Applications and then click Utilities.
    Double-click Disk Utility.
    Highlight your hard drive/partition on the left.
    Click Verify and then Repair Disk Permissions.
    Restart the computer..
    Reset the Printing System:
    Note: This will remove all printers in the print and Fax/Scan, any printer removed can be re-added later by clicking the plus (+) symbol.
    Click the Apple icon and then click System Preferences.
    Click Printers & Scanners.
    Right-click (or Ctrl +click) in the left white side panel, then click Reset printing system.
    Click OK to confirm the reset.
    Type the correct Name and Password.
    Click OK to reset the printing system.
    Then click the + sign to add the driver, highlight the printer. (you might have to click the drop down to select the printer's name) Then click on the Add button.
    Try printing again.
    If you are still having any issues, download and install the HP Printer Drivers v3.0 for OS X.

  • My hp photosmart c4680 wont print on network

    i set up the printer on one computer (it prints fine from there) i then shared it over the local network. when i try to print from one of the other computers it says printing, the computer it is connected to says printing and so does the printer. but nothing prints help!

    Sharing printers is, well, difficult and only shares the print function, not the scan function.
    Since this printer has wireless built-in, why not connect it to your wireless network for all computers to share its print and scan functions?

  • Mac/PC shared network, PC wont print. C6180

    I have an HP c6180 that is shared via WiFi between my mother's PC laptop and my Macbook.  She has Vista and I'm running OSX Lion.  Basically, the Mac prints fine every time but her PC will almost never print unless I delete her printers and reinstall the software, and then only seems to print until I print something.  Any ideas?

  • HP LJ1006 wont print on RDP 2012

    Dear All,
         We have a a NEW Terminal server in MS Azure Running Server 2012 R2 and the client is Windows 8.1 (Fully updated).
    The client has a HP LJ1006 attached to it through USB cable and we would like to redirect athe printing on the application running in the remote server to the local printer ( HP LJ 1006 )
    The printer is connected and configured properly and the user is able to print everything from the client ( local application ) without any issues. The application in the remote server is able to print file to the locally attached network Printer ( IP Based ) but the prints from the remote server to the locally attached ( USB attached HP LJ 1006 ) is not printing.
    Its showing a " failed to print " error. the spooler services in the local machine and remote machine are working fine.
    Can anyone please help out with this. 
    Note: this is a fresh installation of the remote server

    Can anyone tell me how to install a network printer driver without having the network printer online? It doesn't matter what manufactors make the network printers. Is a netwaork printer(with network card) has to have that printer on line to be able to install
    the driver? This is the point of my question!
    I've ask a same type of question previously, but I can't either get good answer nor reply on the response.

    The computer (and driver) have to handshake with the printer, QED it has to be either online or physically connected and if it is physically connected it wont work on the network so yes it does.

    i'm hoping someone can help me. my printer was working fine hp laserjet 1018, and now it wont print at all.  i have uninstalled and reinstalled driver bust the prompt says spooler subsysytem app stopped working and was closed, the local print spooler service is not running.  what do i do to fix this?  please help.....

    I want to be able to help you but I will have to provide two documents because I do not know what kind of computer you are using.  It seems that your Print Spooler is simply turned off and you need to get it running again.  If you have an older computer, here is a document directly related to your printer:

    I have a really good feeling you are using a Windows 7 operating system.  This link is not a document but it has great instructions on "How To Restart Your Print Spooler Services."
    I am happy to help and anxious to hear if this fixes the problem for you.  If it does not, then what is the operating system of your computer (Windows XP Service Pack 2, Windows 7 32 bit, etc) and how is the printer connected to the computer (USB or on a network)?
