Hp printer 8620

I just got the office jet 8620.  I took the sole paper tray out in my way to set up the machine.  It happens that the tray came out with ease but now it wont go in.  I made sure that I put it in the tracks, etc.  But no way.  HP sent me a new tray to help me, but  it happens again.  The tray wont go in.  I wont force it in to avoid breaking something.  I haven`t turned on the printer since I did not reach such step when doing all that is necessary to set it up.  I do not like the idea of returning the machine.  I just want the thing to work.  Thanks for any help someone could give me.  Thanks in advance.

Thank you for your great effort to help me.  I do appreciate it.  I did all you adviced me to.  I have some experience with other machines that would accept either legal or letter paper and know how to extend the tray and return it to the letter size.  That I did.  I did also turned the machine on one side, examined it closely and find nothing that could prevent the insertion of the tray all the way in its smaller size.  Also looked attentively inside the space where the tray is inserted and everything looks perfect.  Nothing protruding.  No dents.  No visible damage.  The strangest thing is that when I took out the tray, it was all the way in and came out with complete ease.  However, no matter what I do, it is not possible to insert the tray back in its place.  Before I started I went to some videos of HP and observed cautiously each step.  (Not the 8620, but the 8600, which I think is similar).  I juast tried it again, both with the original tray that came with the printer and with a new tray that HP took the effor in sending me in case it was some issue with the tray.  It does not seem to be so since none of the two trays can be reinserted.  Both trays look perfect and I would say that both are in perfect condition.  My time to return the machine to the seller (Amazon) is running out.  And to tell you the truth, I would be more than delighter if I do not have to go through the process for returning the machine.  Besides, I like the machine and have never had any issues
with some other HP products that I have had throughout the past years.  Thanks for your generosity, though.  If you would be willing to give me any additional help, I  would gladly pay attention to any advice.  Thank you again.

  • Officejet 8620 don't print on Windows 8.1

    Hi,
I purchased a Officejet 8620 to replace an Officejet 8600 PRO irreparably damaged by lightning.
The printer is connected via wired ethernet.
I installed the software on the CD on a HP laptop with Windows 7 Ultimate and the printer, scanner and fax machine worked perfectly.
I repeated the installation on a PC laptop with Windows 8.1, the installation was successful, but only the fax and scanner worked, the printer does not print even the test page.
I disabled firewall and antivirus (Kaspersky Internet Security 14) and repeated several times to install but always with the same result.
I performed "HP Print and Scan Doctor" that does not detect any problems.
I also run "sfc / scannow" but to no avail.
    My user type is Administrator.
Only if I access the printer properties in as "Administrator" I can get print a test page.
I added my user to the list of authorized users all'utlizzo printer, but without success.
I downloaded from the HP website the latest versions of drivers and firmware, but the print does not work.
At the same PC and 'also connected a printer, on the same Ethernet network, HP LaserJet CP1515n with driver
"HP Universal Printing PCL 6" that works perfectly.
    Can anyone help me please?
    Thanks.

To be honest, I don't know what else to suggest other than calling us. A phone support professional can access your computer remotely, with your permission of course, and look through the settings and software with you.
If you are in Canada or US call 800 474 6836, or you can Contact HP Worldwide.
    I hope this helps.

  • Officejet 8620, fail to print, windows 8.1 (upgraded from windows 8)

I have spent many hours trying to resolve an issue on a Dell Vostro laptop, that was upgraded from Windows 8 pro to Windows 8.1 pro and has the latest updates installed. When printing, the print is delivered to the print spooler, it is there momentarily, then disappears. Nothing is delivered to the printer, and no activity is observed at all on the printer. This is on 2 different 8620 printers. I am able to install and print to a laserjet M1217mfp from the laptop with no problems. A different machine that was loaded directly with windows 8.1 prints perfectly to the 8620 printers.
I have tried the following  with no success:
    1) Install from original HP 8620 installation CD
    2) HP Print and scan doctor - remove the print driver and download latest software . ( 3 times)
    3) Manually deleting all printers, Stop spooler service, delete print driver from Print Server Properties, uninstall all HP software, reboot and install from latest print driver OJ8620-198 downloaded from this link: http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/COL51217/bi-124140-4/OJ8620_198.exe
    4) Same procedure as step 3, including stop spooler, rename C:\Windows\System32\spool\drivers\x64\3 to C:\Windows\System32\spool\drivers\x64\3.old. Reboot and install from latest driver as above.
    5) Run level 4 on HP Officejet Software and Driver Removal Utility from the link below and reinstall : http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?cc=za&lc=en&softwareitem=mp-110134-1
    6) Same procedure as step 4, as well as removing printer registry keys in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Environments\Windows x64\Print Processors except "winprint" key. Delete all HP folders in C:\Program Files\HP. Reboot and reinstall latest driver.
    7) Follow the manual procedure described in Microsoft KB2987964 "Cannot print by using a Hewlett Packard XPS-based print driver after you install KB2769165" http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2987964 Version of hpbxpsrender.dll is 0.3.7600.16385 consistently through all of the steps listed.
    9) Create a new local administrator account on the laptop. Follow the procedure in Step 6.
The issue seems to be that the spooler discards the print immediately and it also seems to be related to the upgrade from windows 8 to Windows 8.1 but only for Officejet Printers. The only option I have not tried yet is to format and reload the machine with Windows 8.1 Pro, but this is a drastic step to resolve a problem that should be resolved by HP based on the many reports posted on the Internet by users experiencing this issue on OfficeJet printers.
What can be done to resolve this?

    Hi @Electronza ,
Thank you for providing all the detailed steps you have already tried to resolve this issue. I would like to help you out today.
I have provided a document with some steps for the Print Jobs Disappear from the Print Queue and Do Not Print (Windows 8). Go to Step 4: Rename the HPBXPSRENDER.DLL file, since you have already tried the other steps.
Please take a look at this document from my co-worker, if the issue persists. The driver installed might be the Class Driver and not the HP Full Feature drivers. Missing or partial print issues on Windows 8 / 8.1.
Please provide in detail the results if you are still having issues.
    Have a great weekend!

  • My 8620 HP Officejet Pro 8620 e-All-in-One Printer IS INCREDIBLY SLOW TO PRINT - TRIED EVERYTHING

I have an 8620 HP Officejet Pro 8620 e-All-in-One Printer It is connected via wireless set-up, with excellent signal strength. It is incredibly slow to print anything, especially PDF files that have graphics in them. I have the latest software installed, latest firmware updates. I have even uninstalled and re-installed, the issue is still there. This is an incredibly crap product, so I'd like to get this issue solved ASAP. Thanks,Brian

For example: printing http://www.nytimes.com/images/2015/07/04/nytfrontpage/scan.pdf Quickly goes 7.03mb/of 7.03mb... then just swirls the "printing" status on the printer's LCD screen, and takes 5 minutes to print...

Thank you. In fact, I did speak to a very friendly and helpful representative at HP. Bottom line, I returned the printer to Staples, where I bought it, and they happily gave me a new printer in the box. After I set it up and use it for a few days and will report back IF I experience a similar issue. For now, I am VERY pleased with both HP and Staples.Thank you. [Smile]

  • Can I Scan to editable text on HP Officejet Pro 8620 using the Apple Printer Driver 3.0?

Can I Scan to editable text on HP Officejet Pro 8620 using the Apple Printer Driver 3.0?
I had a very difficult time getting my new HP Officejet Pro 8620 functioning as well as it does now.  I just tried scanning something as editable text for the first time and it ended up being scanned as a pdf.  At one point in my various tries there was a note on the printer screen that I did not have the HP OCR software installed.
This may be because the resolution to my installation problems with the HP Officejet Pro 8620 seems to have been reverting to operating with the HP-Apple Printer Drivers 3.0 package instead of the HP-Officejet-Pro-8620_v12.32.0.dmg installation package.
I do not, therefore, have the HP Scan application on my computer now which is where HP says its OCR software can be found.
So what I'm afraid of is that I'm now running well with the HP-Apple driver but if I do go back and install the HP Officejet Pro v12.32.0 driver software with the HP installer, in order to access the OCR softwware in HP Scan application, I'll mess up everything else.
Is there any chance that the HP-Apple Printer Drivers 3.0 package I have installed also includes OCR software?  If so where can I find instructions for activating it and using it with the HP 8620's scanner?
Or can I only get OCR capability with the HP-Officejet-Pro-8620_v12.32.0.dmg package?
Any experience with this?  Should I leave well enough alone?  Or can I somehow install the HP-Officejet-Pro-8620_v12.32.0.dmg package without messing up my current functionality?
    Thanks
    Steve

The printer driver that is installed automatically from Apple doesn't scan. The scanner part can be accessed through Image Capture, but I don't think that does any OCR on the scan. You'd need a separate program. As you noted, many of the bundled software programs have OCR built-in (albeit limited). From my experience, that is only activated when you scan to "searchable" PDF or something similar. You would then have to extract the text from the PDF.
I don't have an HP printer/scanner, so take this all with a grain of salt.
If you can just install the Scanner utilities, that shouldn't affect the printer portion.
Your other option would be to purchase separate OCR software. Unless you need to scan lots of documents into text, you should further investigate installing the HP scan utilities.

  • Officejet Pro 8620 won't print from microsoft or thunderbird

I have installed the printer drivers for my new OfficeJet Pro 8620 and am not able to print from Microsoft Word or Thunderbird.  I can print from Google Chrome.
I am running Windows 7 and have already reinstalled the printer software several times.

    Hello @dmcairns,
I understand that you're having printing issues with MS Word and Thunderbird on your Windows 7 computer when printing to your HP Officejet Pro 8620 e-All-in-One Printer. I would like to assist you today with resolving this issue. Now you mentioned that you have already uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times to no avail. I do believe that because you can print from certain programs on your computer that you are experiencing a driver conflict with those two programs. To resolve this issue, can I please have you run through the steps below.
I am going to have you load an alternate driver on your printer. This will not cause you to lose any functionality at all. You will not notice any difference in the performance of your printer or the capabilities. The only thing that should change, is the fact that your printer will be able to print from every program!
    Step 1: Clear Temp files:
    Click on your Start menu
In the 'search programs and files' box located right above Start when you click on it, type %temp% and hit enter
When the Temp folder opens, select Ctrl + A at the same time. Everything in this folder will now highlight.
Select 'delete' on your keyboard. No actual files or folders on your computer will be affected by deleting the Temp files as they are just temporary internet files. Should a file still be used by a program on your computer than you will automatically get the pop up to 'skip' the file.
Once the Temp folder is emptied, close the folder
Right click on your Recycling Bin on your desktop and select Empty Recycling Bin
    Step 2: Download Alternate Driver:
Please click here to download the alternate Officejet driver package
Once the website opens, select the Download button
    Allow the download to Run
Once the download is complete, an extraction will automatically occur and then the installation will pop open. Close any installation window that opens.
    Step 3: Add Alternate Driver:
    Click on your Start menu
In the 'search programs and files' box type %temp% and hit enter
When the Temp folder opens you will see a folder that starts with 7z.... Click on that folder to open it
Scroll through this folder and ensure that it has files that start with OJ860 files in it. You do not want to see OJ862 files. Once you verify that you're in the right folder with the OJ860 files in it, look at the top of this folder and you will see the file path. It should show something like 'local disk C - Users - Username - AppData - Local - Temp - 7z. . . .  Left click on the right hand side of this file path bar and everything will highlight. Right click on the highlighted file path and Copy it.
    Close the Temp folder
    Click on your Start menu
    Select Devices and Printers
Right click on your HP Officejet 8620 and left click on Printer Properties
    Select the Advanced tab
Select 'New Driver' and hit 'next' until you see a list of Manufacturers on the left and a list of Printers on the right.
Select Have Disk on the bottom right. An 'Install from disk' window will pop open. Right click on the file path bar and Paste in the file path we previously copied.
    Select OK
Select the HP Officejet 8600 and hit next
When you're brought back to the Printer Properties window, select Apply but don't hit OK
Click the General tab and rename your printer back to Officejet 8620
    Select OK
Please try to print from a few different programs to verify that everything is printing properly now.
Please respond to this post with the result of your troubleshooting. Thanks for reaching out to the HP Support Forums. I wish you luck!

  • Problem with HP Officejet 8620 (just bought it) not sure if Printer or wireless issue.

Alright so hopefully I have put this in the right forum.
I just bought an HP Officejet 8620, and set it up. It printed the test pages fine yet upon trying to print homework it would dissapear in the Print Queue while saying it was "printing". Thus nothing has come out of the printer except test pages so I am in a bit of a bind.
Now the computer brought up a trouble shoot issue stating "problem with wireless network".
To give some back ground on this issue our previous printer HP Officejet 6500A about a month ago starting printing abnormally slow, and eventually reached a crawl not doing anything.
So im not totally lost, yet as of now do not know what is going on.

    Hello Libertine74,
    Welcome to the HP Forums.
I see that you are having some connectivity issues when attempting to print wireless.
Please make sure that you have the printer power cable connected directly to a wall outlet and not a power bar/strip. Here is a document that uses a LaserJet printer as an example but it is meant for HP products in general. Please click on the following link that explains the Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector.
I have also located a document that deals with when the Printer Does Not Maintain Wireless Connection.
Please feel free to write me back if you have any other questions or concerns.
    Cheers,

  • HP 8620 printer two sided printing reverses pages

Is there a way to change the order that this printer prints double sided prints? It prints last page first, so if it is 3 pages pages 2 & 3 are one page and page 1 is just one-sided.  Need this to be reversed.  Can you do this in the Mac driver?
    Lisa

    Hello @thekoaman,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I understand that you're experiencing issues when duplex printing from your Mac OS X 10.10 Computer to your HP Officejet Pro 8620 e-All-in-One Printer. I want to thank you for including all of the detail regarding the troubleshooting steps you have already completed in your posts. At this time I do believe that there is either a driver corruption on your computer with the HP Officejet, or an issue with the file that you're attempting to duplex. If multiple documents  are experiencing the duplexing page order issue than that will rule out a corrupted document. Can I please have you follow the steps below.
Step 1: Reset the Print System:
To start, I am going to have you Reset the Print System on your Mac as it is important that we have a nice clean slate to work with for troubleshooting. Please click here for instructions on how to perform the Reset. When the website opens follow the steps under'Resetting the printing system in OS X Lion' as the steps are the same for your Mac OS X 10.10 Operating System. This Reset will remove every printer from your Mac. However, it does not uninstall the printers. Therefore, should you use other printers on this Mac, once the Reset is complete simply ensure that the printers are connected via a USB Cable or Network connected and (+) Add them back in. Do not add your HP Officejet back in at this time.
Once the reset is complete, please proceed to the next step.
Step 2: Uninstall Drivers and Software:
Next, please click here for steps on how to properly uninstall your printer. Once the site opens select the dropdown for 'Mac OS X v10.6, OS X v10.7, OS X v10.8, and OS X v10.9'  as they are the same for Mac OS X 10.10 and follow the steps to complete the uninstall process.
Once the uninstall is complete, please continue on.
Step 3: Verify and Repair your Disk Permissions on the Mac:
Open Macintosh HD and go to Applications
    Go to the Utilities Folder
    Open the Disk Utility
Select the Hard Drive volume you are using (usually on the left)
    Select Verify Disk Permissions
Once that process is done, select Repair Disk Permissions
Step 4: Check for Apple Updates:
    Go to Apple
    Select System Preferences
    Select Software Update
    Click Update Now
    Install your available updates
    Restart your computer
    Step 5: Add the Printer:
    1. Please click here to download the correct drivers for your printer.
    2. Once the website opens select the Download button on the top left
    3. Once the download is complete, please follow the onscreen instructions to install your printer
    4. Once the installation is complete, I would like you to check your driver to ensure that the HP Officejet driver is being used and not the AirPrint driver.
    5. Click the Apple menu, and then click System Preferences.
    6. Click Print & Scan, and then check if the name of your printer displays in the Printers list.
    7. If your printer is already listed, remove and re-add the printer to confirm communication with the Mac. Click the name of your printer, click the minus sign (), and then delete the printer
    8. Click the plus sign (), click Add Printer or Scanner, click the name of your printer
    9. Click the Use or Print Using box, and then select the name of your printer in the pop-up menu. Ensure that you have the HP Officejet driver selected and not the AirPrint.
    10. Click Add to add the printer to the list.
    - Source
Now that the driver is added back in successfully, please try duplex printing again.
Please respond to this post with the result of your troubleshooting. I look forward to hearing from you!

  • Windows 8.1 slow printing on 8620 Pro

Just bought the 8620 printer to replace a HP 6500a.  When printing from Windows 8.1 it will print about a thrid of the page and pause, print a couple more lines and pause, the print the rest of the page.  It does this with every page.   I have uninstalled the HP 6500a software and the 8620 software (remopved all HP software), then re-booted.  I used the HP installation wizard to detect and install the printer software and still have the same issue.  HP Print and Scan Doctor indicates no issues.  I have tried printing with the printer using a wireless connection and with the printer plugged in Ethernet with the same results.  6500 printer works correctly on Windows 8.1.  There is only one version of the printer driver/software for this printer.  The printer is running the latest firmware available.   Windows 8.1 is up to date for all available updates from Windows update. From a Windows 7 64bit OS there are no issues, prints correctly no issues. Windows 8.1 laptop is a Dell Inspiron 15R (5537, Mid 2013) running Windows 8.1 64bit with 8GB memory.
Windows 7 laptop is a Dell Latitude E6520 running Windows 7 enterprise 64bit with 8GB memory.

Hey , Welcome to the HP Support Forums!  I understand that you're not able to print from your Windows 8 computer to your HP Officejet Pro 8620 e-All-in-One Printer. I would like to assist you today with resolving this issue. In the fix that I provided about altering the driver, you need to download the HP Officejet 8600 driver package, not the HP Officejet 8620 package. That's why you're not seeing the OJ 860  files. Please follow the steps below to correct this issue.  Step one: Run Microsoft Fix It Tool:  Because you're not able to print anything from your Windows 8 computer there is a chance that an Operating System issue is occuring. Recently Microsoft has released a Hot Fix to correct 'Offline' and 'Partial Printing' issues within the Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 Operating Systems as they deem this as an issue within the Operating System itself that affects multiple printer makes and models. Therefore, to start troubleshooting I would like you to install the Hot Fix. Please click here  to download the Hot Fix. Once the website opens select the button for Hotfix Download Available. Please follow any onscreen steps to install the Hotfix. Once the Fix has been successfully installed please test printing again. Should the printing issue persist, please proceed to the next step.    Step 2: Clear Temp Files: Open your Start screen by selecting the Windows button on the bottom left of your computer screen or by selecting the Windows key on the bottom left of your keyboard to the right of the Ctrl buttonIn the Start screen type Run. Click on Run to launch the Run dialogue box.In the Run box type %temp% and select OKWhen the Temp folder opens, select Ctrl + A at the same time on your keyboard. Everything in this folder will now highlight.Select the 'delete' button on your keyboard. The Temp folder contains temporary internet files. No actual files or folders on your computer will be affected by deleting the Temp files. Should a Temp file still be used than you will automatically get the pop up to 'skip' that item.Close the Temp folder once it is emptiedRight click the Recycling Bin on your desktop and select Empty Recycling Bin  Step 3: Download Alternate Driver: Please click here to download the basic driver packageOnce the download is complete the installer will extract and the installer may pop openShould an installer pop open please close it  Step 4: Add Alternate Driver: Open your Start screen by either by selecting the Windows button in the bottom left hand corner of your computer screen or by selecting the Windows button on the bottom left of your keyboard to the left of the Ctrl button
In the Start screen type Run. Click on Run to launch the Run dialogue box.In the Run box type %temp% and select OKWhen the Temp folder opens locate the 7z and click on it to open itIf you scroll through this folder there should be files that show 'OJ860'. Ensure the OJ860 shows and not the OJ862 files. If you see any OJ862 files, go back to the Temp folder and open the other 7z folder that is in there to ensure you're in the folder with the OJ860 files.Once you're in the correct 7z folder, locate the file path bar at the top. It should show something like: Local Disk (C) - Users - AppData - Local - Temp - 7z . . .  Left click on the right hand side of this file path bar and everything will highlight. Right click on the highlighted file path and left click on Copy.Close the Temp folderReopen the Start screen. Good luck!

  • 80070490 error on Win 8.1 for "HP - Other hardware, Printer - Null Fax - HP Officejet Pro 8620"

The indicated update (HP - Other hardware, Printer - Null Fax - HP Officejet Pro 8620) is supplied by Microsoft was an optional update for the HP 8620. Installation fails, with 80070490 error. What can be done to get arround this error. Presumably the update is needed. I am a new HP 8620 user, and I am installing over my home wireless network. All other printing issues seem fine, without problem.
    Please advise.
    Thanks.

  • Officejet Pro 8620 won't print the "full pasted image"contained in a Word 2007 document

Just upgraded and installed for Officejet Pro 8620. Running with Windows 7, 64bitWhen printing a page that includes a image that was copy/ paste, using the snipping tool into the word document,  it does not print the "full image".  In print Preview the full image appears, but when it prints about 15% of the bottom edge and the right edge of the image is omitted.  This was not a problem when printing from the Office jet 8600.   It is not a problem of page width or length because text is printing just fine.We removed all prior printing software, and re-installed the new printing software, disabled the printer firewall, and problem still occurs. Please advise what other information is needed.  Thanks.

Welcome to the HP Community @SandieKeith ,  I saw your message about the issues you are having when printing from MS Word. If the Print and Scan Doctor did not seem to help any, you can also try the steps and suggestions below! 1. Uninstalling the Printer Software from the Control Panel2. Restart the PC3. Reinstall the Full Feature Driver here: HP Officejet Pro 8620 e-All-in-One Printer4. Try printing from MS Word again5. If there are printing issues, try a Clean Boot and restart the PC6. Try printing again If the issue still continues after the above steps, check out the Microsoft Support sites for help with resolving the Word printing problem:How to troubleshoot printing problems in WordHow to troubleshoot print failures in Word

  • HP 8620 all-in-one: scanner becomes unavailable in print queue window when computer sleeps

I just bought a new printer/scanner/fax - HP 8620 all-in-one.  I have Mac OSX 10.9.3 and the most up to date drivers/software from the HP website (april 2014).  I have connected the printer via ethernet cable to our wireless router.  I have installed as per intructions.
When my computer goes to sleep, or the printer goes to sleep, I will return to the computer to find that the "scanner" is not available (ie greyed out when I go to "open scanner" in the print queue or system preferences, or try to use "HP scan". I tried a few things, like uninstall/reinstalling, and have worked out that if I reboot my computer the scanner option seems to "whiten" again (ie become available).
Is there a way to prevent this happening???? I don't have time to be rebooting every time I need to use the scanner!

You can't use the scan button on the printer. You have to start the scan from OS X.

  • Printing for Microsoft Excell on HP Pro 8620

Just installed my new Printer (HP pro 8620) and everytime I go to print anything using microsoft excell,it starts to print and then quickly says "Caneling Printing"on the screen of my Printer..Why?

    Hi @tennoutdrsman,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand you installed your HP Officejet pro 8620, but you cannot print from Microsoft Excell, and I am happy to help you with this printing issue!
There could be a number of reasons why it will not print. But I am sure we can figure it out!
For further assistance, I will need to know the following:
If you are using a Windows or Mac Operating System, and the version number. To find the exact version, visit this link. Whatsmyos.
If the printer is able to make copies.
If the printer is connected, Wireless, Ethernet, or USB.
If the power cable is plugged into a surge protector, or directly to the wall outlet. Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector. This applies to Inkjet printers as well.
In the meantime, please take a look through this guide. Print Jobs are Stuck in the Print Queue.
Hope the guide helps, and hope to hear from you soon!
