HP Printer Driver 2600n is not located in the Snow Leopard OS Upgrade - Fix

Computers: Macbooks and Macbook Pro
Printer: HP 2600n
Wireless Router: Apple Time Capsule
Network Printer: via Apple Express
Step 1: Download and install the printer driver 2600n from HP http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en &cc=us&prodTypeId=18972&prodSeriesId=446153&prodNameId=446154&swEnvOID=219&swLan g=8&mode=2&taskId=135&swItem=ly-40466-2
Step 2: Macintosh HD go to Airport Utility – locate the Apple Time Capsule or Express that your printer is connected to and write down the IP Address: xxx.xxx.x.x
Step 3. Close the Airport Utility
Step 4. Under the apple icon go to System Preferences and select Printer & Fax
Step 5. Click the + like you are going to add a printer. A second window will open up. Select your printer the Hewlett-Packard HP Color Laserjet 2600n printer.
Step 6. Very important select more printers and then manual. Remember the IP Address I told you to write down, now type that in the Manual IP boxes. Where it says printer right under kind you will see “Not Found” you will need to select in the drop down HP Color LaserJet 2600n. Click add it will take a little while until it identifies your printer.
Step 7. Just go back to Preferences and select Printer & Fax and you will see the HP Color Laserjet 2600n printer in the idle status. That is it. I’m glad I was able to remember the steps and document it, because it me a long time to finally figure this out. I tried what other people had recommended and it did not work for me. I was able to complete this on one Macbook Pro and three Macbooks. Good Luck!

I tried this a bunch of times. I put in the IP address and it says "not found" and I can't get around it?

  • I can not get Time Machine to back up an external WD Passport 2 TB drive!  Has anyone else had this problem?  The drive is new and I was running Snow Leopard and upgraded to Lion and it still won't do it.  Time Machine backs up the internal drive fine.

I bought 2 2TB WD Passport Drives with the intention of housing my iTunes/iPhoto libraries off my older MacBook.  I have successfully transferred the Libraries to one and am using the other one for Time Machine.  In Snow Leopard I could back up my computer to Time Machine no problem but when I did not exclude the iTunes/iPhoto drive the back up fails.  Both drives have been reformatted, permissions repaired and checked in Disk Utility and one was replaced.  I have been to the Genius Bar now 5 times.  I have tried using USB drive and FireWire.  Both drives are recognized and are working properly otherwise regardless how they are connected.  Finally yesterday the Apple store installed Lion to see if that fixed the issue and it did not.  Time Machine successfully backed up a USB Flash drive, and today I will try an older external drive.  Any ideas on what else to try??? Do I have to resort to third party software like Carbon Copy Cloned to get this done?  Any ideas why this wont work?  I am using a FireWire converter but as I said, both drives are working normally otherwise (libraries working, time machine working for the computer's hard drive.  Any ideas would be appreciated!!?

Thanks so much but none of that helped.  It was driving me crazy because it would back up another external drive.  I just changed the name of the drive from iPhoto/iTunes Library to Media Libraries and IT WORKED!! I guess for some reason it didn't like the drive being called iPhoto or iTunes ???? I don't understand but I have tried so many solutions and exchanging things out but the name change did it????!!!
Thank you for your help and replying to this.  Guess I made my own issue!

  • We have a 4 year old iMac 24 inch.  My hard drive died and we have a new hard drive now, but all that the fixit shop put on it was the Snow Leopard OS;  can I ask Apple for a download of our other many software programs to reload them?  Does it cost to do

We have a 4 year old iMac 24 inch.  The hard drive died and we had a new hard drive installed.  They only installed the Snow Leopard OS on it, and there were many software programs that came with the iMac originally.. now missing.  Does anyone know whether Apple will resupply these?  I do have an Apple installation disc but have upgraded from the original Leopard to Snow Leopard... so the OS is not quite the same.  Ideas?  Thanks!

No bootable bakup/clone or Time Machine backup? No initial install discs? If no to both of those, call 1-800-MY-APPLE and request replacement discs for that machine. They're available for a nominal S&H charge.

What OS? Have you tried a repair and updates from the HELP menu? The updates may be the key.

  • Home Folders not located in the usual place....Please Help!

I had a power failure this past weekend and now the client stations get the following error after logging in and selecting a group:
"The Home folder for user "student1" is not located in the ususal place or cannot be accessed.
    I have done the following:
    1-Unshare and share share points
2-Delete mcx_cache file in client station
    3-check host name
4-Demote Server to recreate Home Directories
I created a new user and group with this new directory after demoting and promoting the server to Open Directory Master and I still get the dreaded message that the Home Folders can't be accessed, any assisstance will be greatly appreciated!
If I log in with a network user using the server, I can log in fine, also, if I go to the client computer and log in as a local user, and try to connect using the finder menu and a network user I have no problems. What else I can do to solve this issue!

    Thanks Dirk,
Tried your suggestion various ways but it had no effect the download button was still greyed out and the install button would not activate will keep trying to find a solution. I dont want to boot from the external hard drive that has Lion on mainly because it is a usb HD and the connection to my wireless modem slows the connection rate and downloading would take about ten hours

  • File vault: home folder is not located in the usual place...

All of a sudden I get this error when logging into a filevault protected account.
*The home folder for "XXXX" is not located in the usual place or cannot be accessed*
The message goes on to warn me that the folder could have been moved or deleted or is on an unavailable network volume.
I see that the sparsebundle is right where it should be. I tried searching this board, but I can't find anything threads discussing this error. So, none of the data is accessible. If it was a sparseimage I could just mount it under another user and get the data out, but I have no idea what to do to salvage a sparsebundle. Heck, I didn't even know they existed until 30 min ago.

I have had no luck in fixing this. I've tried mounting the sparsebundle from the finder, disk utility, and the terminal and get an "Operation not supported on socket" error.
opening the terminal while logged in to this account brings up a message along the lines of
    no home directory in /Users/AccountName
Logging in with home = /
So I thought it may be a permissions problem and reset them to be read write for user group and others, but still can't login or mount the sparsebundle from another account.

I am receiving this error when I try and update a record in an updatable report (SQL QUERY Updateable). Two of the values being updated rely on a named LOV.
The SQL query for the report does pull in both the keys (there are two keys)....I am not certain why this is happening...any clues would be appreciated.
    thanks. Karen

sorry. I thought I had made it current. It is now.
I am not certain if you will be able to run it as it is accessing our test tables. Will I need to move those tables to the workspace. I am also checking here to see if anyone has had experience. thankyou for your patience. I really appreciate it.

I could not find a MF-4430 at the Canon site. Are you sure the model is correct? They have a MF4450. The Mac drivers are here:
    http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer/printers_multifunction/imageclass _series/imageclass_mf4450#DriversAndSoftware
If you are sure you have a MF4430, look around the canon site for the drivers.

  • "home folder for user "....." is not located in the usual... (help)

I accidentally ran Disk Utility (repair permissions and disk) from the panther disk that came with my computer instead of from my Tiger disk. Now things are really screwed up. I can't open any user accounts and no files seem available. Most Apps seem to be there. But i can't open or even locate any formerly existing documents.
The message i'm getting is: *Home Folder for user "me" is not located in the usual place and can not be accessed*
Does anyone have any idea what can be done?
    I would appreciate any advice,

  • Hard drive configuration is not set to the factory default

When I go into Acer Recovery Management to try to create a factory default backup I get a pop up that says Hard Drive configuration is not set to the factory default - back up aborted.  How do I get my hard drive set back to factory default?

Create recovery backup or recovery media and resetting to default are 2 different things. you can create the recovery backup even without resetting to factory default; you just need to start Acer erecovery and follow instructions. it will copy the recovery partition to DVDs or USB flash media.if Acer erecovery is not working and you have Windows 8.x, you can follow this guide:http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/create-usb-recovery-drive about resetting to factory default, the easiest way is to press ALT+F10 at boot and then follow onscreen instructions.

  • Portable home directory error "Home folder...is not located in the usual p"

I have a small handful of users with portable home directories. Of these, one is getting an error every time she logs onto the workstation: "The home folder for user ~ is not located in the usual place...". Her profile loads just fine, but I suspect it's only the local copy. Last week she didn't mention this mesasge, but did tell me about a problem with her mail; we ended up having to remove and re-create her imap account.
Her workstation is running OS X 10.5.8, as is the server. They're on the same subnet (and even the same switch). Once her profile loads, she can access everything just fine, including her folders and documents.
    1. Is there any way to tell whether her local copy is synced with the server? (I'm worried that she's been doing this for several days and they're no longer in sync.)
    2. How can I correct this for the future?
    3. If the local and server copies are out-of-sync, how do I re-sync them (with the local copy overwriting the server copy)?
    Thanks so much!
    -Matthew

I encountered this issue recently.  My solution was to configure a network home folder for the user, log in at the workstation with the network user account, then turn off and delete the user's home folder on the server.
Note: In my setup, our network users are configured as mobile user accounts so that a local home folder is created at login on the workstation.

  • Fixing Printing for Dell 5210n on OSX 10.6 Snow Leopard

After upgrade to OSX 10.6, printing to Dell 5210n laser printer was no longer working. Drivers are pretty old. Last ones available from Dell website are 2006 (10.4) and were apparently built for Power PC. Running driver install will not fix. Each time printing was attempted the Dell Printer Queue widget reported that: /Library/Printers/Dell/filter/pstopsprinter1 failed.
After much butt scratching and installing and uninstalling of drivers to no avail... I tried navigating to the folder to see what the heck pstopsprinter1 actually was.... novel solution!?! Turned out to be a Unix Executable File (Power PC)... and when you try to run it you get a terminal session pop up and tell you that you need to install Rosetta from the Optional Installs of the Snow Leopard disk. Do it, Restart and it works!!
    Solution:
Install Rosetta from the Optional Installs of 10.6 disk.
    Another one bites the dust......

You need to use the 10.6.8 combo updater 1.1 not the 10.6.8 delta updater which requires 10.6.7.

My ipod nano 6th gen fell out of my pocket and the screen cracked badly, is there any coverage for this under warranty? I just bought it a month ago. If not what are the options for getting it fixed? It is pretty frustrating, it fell from about 3 feet out of my pocket and now looks like it was beaten by a hammer.

he advises restarting by inserting the OSX disc and pressing down the C button to reboot from there then selecting disk utility, hard disk and repair.... Does he mean me to hold down the C key on the alpha keyboard or the ctrl key?
Should I just ask for my money back??? If it is a simple repair do I just literally push the disc in, push the power button and hold down the C button?
That's where I would begin, too, with
    Repair Disk
Insert Installer disk and Restart, holding down the "C" key until grey Apple appears.
Go to Installer menu (Panther and earlier) or Utilities menu (Tiger) and launch Disk Utility.
Select your HDD (manufacturer ID) in the left panel.
Select First Aid in the Main panel.
(Check S.M.A.R.TStatus of HDD at the bottom of right panel, and report if it saysanything but Verified)
Click Repair Disk on the bottom right.
If DU reports disk does not need repairs quit DU and restart.
If DU reports errors Repair again and again until DU reports disk is repaired.
If DU reports errors it cannot repair you will need touse autility like TechTool Pro,Drive Geniusor DiskWarrior
First we need to determine if the issue you are experiencing with the computer is software or hardware based. Once we have gotten things sorted out there should be time enough to make you decision about keeping or returning it.
