HP Printer Install Wizard Problem

I'm trying to download the latest drivers for the K209a all in one printer through the HP Printer Install wizard which is the only way given to download the drivers on the support page, But every time after completing the 140 mb download it throws me an error saying my download was cancelled and to retry later. Please help, I would like to have the direct link to the software so that I can download it manuall my self.

Hi , I saw your post regarding the problems you are having with downloading Windows 10 Software for your HP Deskjet Ink Advantage - K209a and I may be able to help.
I've read a few post that indicate that the Windows 8.1 driver should work on Windows 10. Here is the link to the downloads page, HP Deskjet Ink Advantage All-in-One Printer series - K209 Full Feature Software and Driver. From here you may have to click the Edit link in order to choose Windows 8.1.   Here is the direct link to the download as well, just in case; HP Deskjet Ink Advantage K209 Full Feature Software and Driver.   Please let me know if any of these steps resolved your issue, or if there is anything else I can do to help.  I look forward to hearing from you!  Thanks,

• Reinstallation printer driver- Wizard stalls - HP officejet 6500 709n and Windows 7

After windows 7 auto update of my driver, printer offline became its status. I uninstalled the driver, downloaded a new one and ran installation wizard. System checked, system prepartion were successful, but configurate product is stalled on 2/9 with printer not responding message. Any ideas about how I might proceed?

Hello supernumerary, and wecome to the HP Forums!
I see you are running into issues with your install. I would like to assist with that today.
First thing I would suggest would be to stop the installation. Once it has been stopped, I would recommend uninstalling any residual software that was put in during the failed install.  I am including a document on Uninstalling the Printer Software in case you run into any issues.
Once the printer is uninstalled, I would recommend following through this document on Wireless printing center Troubleshooting Issues to ensure the printer wireless functions are still connected.
Once the printer is verified to be online, and the old software is completely removed, I would suggest restarting the computer and reinstalling the software using the HP Printer Install Wizard for Windows.
Good luck and please let me know the results of your troubleshooting steps. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums!

• Printing problem - no such printer installed

Dear sirs,
today I write to report another issue with printing. It sometimes happen, completely random, that after a print with a printer (no matter which printer) if I select another printer and press "Printer preferences" from your "amazing print dialog"(TM), an alert appear with the message "no such printer" or "no such printer installed" (I use a localized version of PS5 so I don't know the exact message in English, but I'm sure you can understand).
The solution is to shut down PS5, open it again, open the file again, open the print dialog again, select the printer again, select Printer Preferences again, and it finally works (ok, there is still the number of copies issue, so I have to do the whole process one more time to print correctly).
Please check this too.
Don't you have a tool to make debug file to allow you to check what is happening?

Windows 7 has a built in Problem Step Recorder. You can use that (if you have Windows 7).
Wait a second you wrote you have Photoshop 5 (PS5)? That is way old software. What Operating System are you trying to run that on?

• Office 2010 - "Word cannot print, there is no printer installed"

Hi All,
Been having a problem recently on many PC's at a site where they run Windows 7 x64 with Office 2010 x86.
Printing usually happens with no issue, however sometimes when they click the print icon, (in the 'file-->print' section) it will display 'word cannot print, there is no printer installed'.
The client tells me they can go to control panel and print a test page successfully, but word/excel will not print. In order to resolve the issue they close the program, reopen it and printing works straight away. Today I asked them to restart the print
spooler, instead of closing/reopening word, this did not resolve the issue. closing and reopening did fix the issue.
So far they have experienced the issue with Word and Excel only, however they don't use the other programs a great deal.
The printers are distributed with group policy. In addition to network printers they use PDF Factory (which is like PDF Creator).
I have been unable to reproduce the issue.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated, thank you!

Hi,
From your description , I understand that you got message ”word cannot print, there is no printer installed” when clicked the print icon.
If you do not have a default printer, use the Add Printer Wizard to install one.
Follow these steps:
Click Start and then click Devices and Printers.
Under Printer Tasks, click Add a printer, and then follow the instructions to install your default printer driver.
Note If your printer model is not listed in the Manufacturers and Printers lists, see the Hardware
Compatibility List (HCL) for an updated driver. To do this, visit the following Microsoft Web site:
http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/hcl/default.mspx
If your printer is not on the HCL, contact the printer manufacturer for drivers and instructions.
Sincerely,

• HP 3550 re-installation problems

WIN XP-sp3 on Compaq DC5750, 3GB Ram, larger hard drive, no other problems.
Had a crash a few months ago and d/l (from HP site) drivers for my Deskjet 3550... that worked swell, except they were in Spanish!
So, tonite I decided to d/l the ENU verzion from HP and install the drivers so the printer and I spoke the same language... And the fun began.
The instructions were to d/l the package, put it in a certain directory on the C:/ drive (which I did) then connect the USB cord to the printer and when the install wizard appeared, tell it not to search, direct the program to the directory/exe file and sit back and watch the printer work.
Nope.
I already was connected to the computer and figured the re-install would just over-write the existing drivers.
Nope.
Tried to print a test page and the test page simply hung up... Nothing happened. So I tried to delete the test page.... Even less happened.
Seems no matter what I try to do now I can't get there.
Thought I'd delete the printer entirely, unplug it and go with instructions "A"... 'cept that the print spooler is STILL trying to print that bloody test page, even if I restart the box (several times) to kick it out. As a result, the following happens:
Can't go to "printers and Faxes" and delete the drivers, 'cos the printer is "in use by another program", even tho it's disconnected from the computer at present. I assume that that means the drivers are still trying to print that test page......................(Remember the test page?)................but with no discernable result.
Now, to add insult to injury, the silly buggar is asking for "hpfmom09.hlp" from the HP installation CD. If only I KNEW where the (censored) CD had got to, we'd not be reading this drivel, innit?
I'm a bit puzzled as to how to fix this, short of 3 ounces of Geglinite or resorting to a restore point para printar en espanol...
So, O My Droogies, what hast thou that thou wouldst recommend to your wayward Brother?
(I DO like the Geglinite, but Guy Fawkes is a ways off yet...)

Hmmmm.... no help?   I'm still speaking Spanish with the printer but I seem to have solved (don't ask me how) the other problems.
I'd REALLY like to get this thing back to speaking English, however.
Any thoughts at all would be appreciated!

• HP C309a, Windows 7, on software install, wizard shows "PC IP address incompatible with Pntr IP"

Have had this printer working for almost three years (Wireless) but was having intermittent issue lately where the printer did not respond to print requests. (Off line and other indicators). I finally decided to uninstall and reinstall the entire HP Software package.  Now, however, the wireless wizard is defining the local IP addresss of my PC incorrecty, and thus shows it to be incompatible with the printer IP address (Both should be NAT and have been totally compatible. I can't find a way to manually enter the correct PC address to allow the wizard to complete the wireless installation/set up. Printer is working fine via USB, but that is not what I need. Can I manually make the correction, or is there a way to get the wizard to look for the correct address? From the printer, I show no problems on the Wireless Network test report, so it is talking with the router.

What "wizard" are you referring to, the Wireless Setup Wizard on the printer, the Windows Add a Printer Wizard, or the HP Install Wizard?
What brand and model router are you using?
What firmware version is installed on the router?
What is the IP address of the printer, computer, and router (default gateway)?

• Printer installed but not responding to print jobs

I'm not quite sure how to intelligently ask this question so let me describe what happened.
I have a friend who asked for help in troubleshooting a problem with his printer.  His printer is a brand new HP Officejet 6600 sitting near his computer and is on his wifi network.  He can not print to it wirelessly from his iMac running Lion, but his wife can print wirelessly to it from another room on her iMac.  He can print using USB, though, but he prefers wireless because of the wiring situation in this room.  Plus, he bought for wireless printing.
When I got there I checked his System Preferences:Print & Fax and confirmed that his printer was installed and had the green idle light showing ready for a print job.  I tried to print and everything looked normal and showed that the job was sent to the printer and was 100% completed but the printer never responded.  I tried it from his wife's computer and confirmed that she was able to print a page with no problem.  I brought my MBP and joined his wifi network and added his printer and was also able to print.
So, I tried some basic troubleshooting steps trying to print after each one, and nothing worked.  I deleted and re-installed his printer, repaired permissions, restarted in Safe Boot, tried printing in a second user account, Reset printing system..., deleted all com.apple.print... preferences,  installed Onyx and ran the System Cleaning routines,  powered down/up the router/computer/printer, reset the wifi on the printer and rejoined his network, and probably a few other things I can't remember right now.
After doing all of this and throwing up my hands I tried to print again from my MBP to prove that I still could, and this time was not able to print.  It kept trying to send the job but the printer never responded.  His wife's iMac was still able to print, however.  This got me frustrated and I decided to ask this forum for help.
Oh, and here's some more information.  His wife has a printer next to her computer, an HP Officejet something (I forget, not 6600, though).  His iMac is able to print over wifi to this printer with no problem.  What the...?
What other things can I try? Does this point to something in the printer such as a bad wifi card, or something?  Any suggestions or ideas will be much appreciated.
Thanks

LilyLC, hold on to your chair you will not believe what happened today.  Bear with me while I give you all the details but you will want to read the entire story.
First, to answer your question in the first paragraph of that last post, his wife's printer is connected to his wifi and is using the driver installed by Apple and has been updated on the same date as his computer that I gave earlier.  She can print to her printer and so can he.  After the troubleshooting steps I have taken and took today I agree with your assessment about an intermittent issue with the printer, too, but let me tell you what I did today.
Before going to his house I decided to set up a second wifi LAN at his house using my router to check if his Airport Extreme (I incorrectly thought initially it was an Airport Express) router was the problem.  The thinking being that I have checked his printer and computer and nothing I have tried is making a difference, so the only thing left is his router.  So, I set up my router and joined his computer, printer, and my MBP, to the wifi and tried to print from both computers.  The printer still was NOT working!  That was a big disappointment since I just knew that was going to work.  I guess that eliminates the router.  I reconfigured his computer back to his wifi and proceeded to the next step.
I hadn't installed the drivers from the website you gave me earlier since I saw in Software Updates that he had updated to that same driver set already.  Now I got to thinking that maybe those files were corrupted somehow so I downloaded the drivers from the website you gave me and installed.  Deleted drivers from Print & Scan pane and installed the newly downloaded driver, tried to print, and that failed, too.
Next I tried your suggestion of using the LPD protocol instead of the HP JetDirect and that setup failed for some reason.  I reconfigured using the HP JetDirect, and that worked for printing, as before, but the scan function was not available, as before.
I was getting a little pressed for time today and had time to try one more thing, so I decided to forgo the new Location setup until tomorrow and instead chose to plug his printer directly into the Airport Extreme via USB and see what happened.  I deleted the IP driver and clicked the + to add the installed driver and was presented with an HP Officejet 6600 on the top line and lower down under "Nearby Printers" found an HP Officejet 6600 series [XXXXXX] and under that HP Officejet 6600 Fax.
I chose the first driver and installed and tried to print and was successful.  However, the scan function was not available.  So I deleted that driver and chose the second one.  I noticed immediately that the scan function was available.  Thinking I might have something I tried to print and was unsuccessful.  Mmm...printing works with the first driver but not the second and scan works for the second but not the first.  What's with THAT?
This was really getting frustrating by this time and after much discussion with him I told him I thought the printer was the device at fault.  For some reason his printer just did not like his network.  I tried printing to his wife's computer and that worked great.  No problem there.  But for some reason his printer did not like his network and refused to work by setting up manually.
I recommended that he bring the printer back and exchange it for another printer.  He agreed and immediately boxed it up and left for the store.  I returned home to more friendlier surroundings.
Here's where it gets interesting, and it helps to know that my friend is in his mid-eighties.  About an hour later he calls and tells me he's sitting in the parking lot of Office Depot.  He tells me that when he was in the store discussing with Customer Service about an exchange it dawned on him out of the blue that he DIDN'T NEED TWO PRINTERS!!  He said that if he could print to his wife's computer today then he could print to it from now on.  I was speechless!!!  I told him I asked him at the beginning of all this why he had to have two printers, and at that time he said "trust me, we need two printers".  Ok.  He tells me he has no idea why he didn't realize that wifi worked differently than cable.  He thinks that maybe since his older two printers were each connected to his and his wife's computer these newer computers operated the same way too.  But he admits to me that he was the one who set the printers up on his wifi network, so why he didn't realize that only one printer was necessary with wifi he didn't know.  He was embarrassed.  He admitted to me that technology is very difficult for him to understand.  No kidding!!!
I didn't need to remind him how much time had been spent on this problem because he was quick to apologize and was very sorry for taking up so much of my time, and he really appreciated the effort.  I told him I didn't mind.
And I really didn't, because I learned so much from this experience by following your suggestions, LilyLC.  I never knew how to set up a printer using its IP address, and the protocols to use, and I never knew how to add new Locations in the Network pane and why it might be useful.  You also got me to considering other troubleshooting ideas I wouldn't have thought of otherwise.  So maybe my friend and I aren't that different after all.
I really appreciate all the suggestions, links, and ideas you offered during this effort, LilyLC.  I wish I could have determined the cause of the problem but, not knowing the inner workings of these devices, I can only assume that it had to have been the printer.
I bet I get a call from my friend a week from now saying that he just bought a second printer for his room because his knees can't take the walking from his room to his wife's room to get all of his printouts.  All I can say is THAT printer better work.
Thanks again, LilyLC, for all your time and help.  It was really appreciated!

• Laserjet 1018 both side printing WinXp SP2 problem

Hello I hope this is the right section for posting this , if not I apologise in advance. I run WinXp SP2 with a Laserjet 1018 printer installed  and I need to print a document with 2 pages per sheet and I used the Print on both sides option (to save paper). When the first half of the print job is done the warning led (with the exclamation mark) goes on and I don't get the continue option (mentioned in the manual). i have tried reinstalling the drivers but with no luck. I can do normal print jobs with no problem though.

Hi
You can try running the following utility at the link below. It sounds like a network issue since you are able to print fine when you give the users admin rights.

• Photoshop 7 won't bring up install wizard

I've had Photoshop 7 on this computer for quite some time now. But then some of the tools really started messing up for some reason, anything involving gradients. So I finally decided to uninstall and then re install using my PS7 disc. However when it goes to bring up the install wizard, it gets to 99% and then refuses to do anything else. It will even go off the screen, but then nothing else will come up. Funny thing is, it happened when I downloaded PS7 and tried to install that way as well.
When I uninstalled it asked me if I wanted to remove shared files, I clicked yes. I'm wondering if that might be the issue?

I never let it stop trying. It just went off the screen and then nothing ever came up. I tried several hours ago, and several hours after that.
My problem has now randomly been solved though. While browsing around and looking for possible install wizard issues, it decided to pop up and occupy the screen. I don't have the slightest idea why it did.... Not only is it installed again now, but for some reason it kept my brushes, patterns, and actions. And fixed my issues I was having with certain tools before. O____O
Well that works for me! =D

• Itunes install wizard launching when not needed.

Hello,
I have the latest version of Itunes successfully loaded on my windows XP laptop. I recently needed to use the USB port that I keep my IPOD plugged into for a USB thumb drive. Now when I connect my IPOD to my laptop the install wizard pops up. When I click cancel ITunes successfully launches. How can I get this wizard to stop poping up as I do not need it?
Thanks.
Burke D.

I am a PC Tech and had a customer with this issue. Ran across this post in my search and ended up finding the solution on my own. The problem isn't with the iTunes software but the installer for the GEARAspi drivers. Really the issues is with the file type asssociations in the windows registry. On the system I was working on the HKCR key for .exe should point to the exefile key but pointed to nothing. To fix it create a new txt document and paste the following in (only paste what is in between the

tags):
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.exe]
@="exefile"
"Content Type"="application/x-msdownload"
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.exe\PersistentHandler]
@="{098f2470-bae0-11cd-b579-08002b30bfeb}"
Now change the extension from .txt to .reg. Then right click and select merge. iTunes should now install properly.

• ITunes install wizard freezes up at same point everytime.

Trying to install the latest version of itunes and everytime I get the section of install wizard where it shows the picture of the girl and guy and it says iPod and iTunes Born to be Together, you click "next" and absolutely nothing happens and it just freezes up. I've tried like 5 times and same thing everytime. Have no idea what's going on -- anyone that can help??

Hi buschden
Please look through the forums. You will see most often problems are caused by antivirus/antispy software conflicting with iTunes.
Ensure you always download the iTunes programme to your pc (save to desktop for example) not try to install online and disable AV/Spy software before you try to run the intall.
If you have done this, it may be your chosen AV software and/or firewall is not allowing iTunes to start up. Check the setting on your software in this regard.
I appreciate it is very frustrating when this happens, but be patient and search the forums. There are fixes for just about every problem!:)

• Officejet j6480 sometimes not printing entire image: printer or software problem or conflict?

Dell Inspiron, windows xp-pro, version 5.1 sp 3,
software: microsoft digital image 2006
I've been using digital image (DI) for several years and have never encountered this issue before now, but my printer is new and has some features I may not entirely understand.
I've created 4 separate images for a t-shirt transfer using DI.  2 images each are set up on an 8.5 x 11 layout, landscape mode.  They were "cut out" and placed on each layout for printing.  On my monitor, each image is a complete image: ie, no part of either image is missing or blocked out.  However, when I print the document, sometimes part of one image doesn't print.  The actual printed piece looks like an object or "blank" box was placed on top of the sheet of paper before printing, printed, and then taken off the printed paper leaving no ink beneath it.
DI allows you to cut out a photo and use the cut out with no background which is what I've done. The cut out follows the line of the object, dogs head, for example.  The edges are not straight as if in a frame, however when the object is selected for editing, a dotted frame does appear around the edge.  More than one object can be selected at one time and there can be an overlap of these frames, but once the object is deselected the frame disappears.
What really has me baffled is that the missing part of the image is squared off on two sides, is always in the same spot on the paper, completely different documents print the same way, you can see where the edge of the missing piece printed, but very light in color, and the document does print out correctly, sometimes.
Sorry to be so long winded.  I'm trying to preserve the transfer paper since it is expensive and don't want to chance an incomplete printed sheet having to discard it and start over, hoping "this time it will work!"
Does anyone have any ideas?  I know it sounds like a software problem but it also sounds like a printer problem, or both.

Hello @rslade , and welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!
I see you're having problems printing in colour.  I would like to help!
Do you have any issues making a colour copy, as opposed to a print?
I would suggest deleting the printer from your print system, using this document: Uninstalling the Printer Software.
Once you have deleted it, I would suggest verifying and repairing the disk permissions: About Disk Utility's Repair Disk Permissions feature.
I would also suggest running your Apple updates:  OS X: Updating OS X and Mac App Store apps
After the updates, I would recommend reiadding the printer:

I have tried that version of the connector and still same problem. I checked repository location with lh setRepo -c and same error was generated, so some how the location of the repository has become corrupted. Is slightly worrying. I assumed this entry was held in ServerRepository.xml and wouldn't change on a fresh install from default. Anyway problem is possibly here somewhere.

• Intel 82579LM - Network Connection Install Wizard (Win 7) LOCKS UP computer

Problem started happening 2 weeks ago.  Intel 82579LM Network Adapter fails to start at Win7 startup.
Have tried several latest driver download sources:
1) MSI Win7 drivers download for my x79A-GD65 8D motherboard.
2) Intel drivers from their site.
and both sources the driver install wizard LOCKS up my OS as soon as I try the install.
DOES ANYONE ELSE HAVE THIS PROBLEM?
Partial FIX is only temporary:  1) disable/enable driver 2) uninstall/install original driver 3) install latest driver from Device Manager (which gets reset to original upon reboot)
FIRSTLY, is anyone else's computer freezing like this during driver install?

Hi:
I have attached the away mode driver you need to install (under attachments).
Manually install it by using the same install method I posted above.
You will not need 7-zip for this.  Just download it and unzip it.
I don't know why the W7 driver isn't working.
