HP printing Issues in Lion

Hello!
I have recently upgraded our Macs to Lion. We have a wireless netowkr running on a Time Capsule. Two Macs both on Lion and a Windows machine ethernet connected ot the TC. We have an HP Photosmart 7760 printer connected to the TC so all machines can access it.
This setup work perfectly before Lion.
Now, the printer is printing most everything badly - meaning that it prints as if it's running out of ink. However, that has been checked as is not the case. Also, some things print perfectly such as some webpages, some PDFs, some illustrator files. But seems up predictable and not rhym or reason to what it will and won't print correctly.
This is happening from all machines as well as from AirPrint devices.
I have just downloaded and installed the "Universal HP driver" from apple suppoert x2.8 OSX and still having this issue.
Although the printer is old, I don't think it is teh problem since some stuff prints perfectly.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
rich!

No - I looked on thier website and could find the answer. I thought this would be a better place to get help

coupons.com. Any coupon. I have had it for months and had no problems. Now that I have Lion, it prints a single line at the top of the page of random letters/symbols. On their end, it appears to print, so they don't see a problem. I don't know what to do to make it work.

  • HP Printer issue after installing Mountain Lion

Hi, a few days ago I posted the following question regarding a printer issue and so far I have not been able to fix the problem.  Here's the original question and I will  continue the explanation after this....
Hi, I am a fairly new iMac owner and I am really happy with my apple, however I have an issue with my printer and I kind a "blame" Montain Lion for it.  I have been using this HP Laserjet P2015 dn printer for a long time, initially with Windows and now with iMac.  The first year approximately there was no problem at all to print and the transition from Windows to Mac with the printer had no difficulties at all.  It was connected wirelessly via router.  After downloading Montain Lion I notice the printer intermittently lost connectivity.  The only way to print was turn off and turn on and it will print fine until the next time.  Now out of the blue it's doing the same thing so frequently I can't print a complete document at all.  It starts, and finish without printing the entire document or not connect at all.  I have tried everything, including a static IP address for the printer, connect the printer to the computer via USB, downloading all the printer updates from HP and nothing seems to work.  Just now, I did it again (for 100 times so far), delete the printer, reinstall and it's doing the same thing.  It connects fine (either via IP or USB) and it last connected only for a minute or two.  That's it.  It's a shame, because I like the printer.  The printing quality is great and to add more pain, I recently got a new ink cartridge ($100.00) capable of printing 3000 pages.  It has 70% of ink still.  Any computer sabby person out there has any ideas for me? Like I said, I've done everything.... inluding,
    1.  Remove the printer
    2.  Update the drivers
    3.  Assign a static IP address to the printer
    4.  Connect via USB
    5.  Disconnect the  printer for a while and restart the whole process again
    6.  Did a "cold start" to the printer
I don't know what to do, and I don't want to spend more $$$$$ on a new printer.  Is Montain Lion to be blame for?  Please advise me.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
At this point I do have the printer connected only via USB, prints one page (perfectly) and then goes offline.  Before installing Mountain Lion I did use the printer with my Mac for almost a year with no issues at all.  I even downloaded Mountain Lion again thinking of any flaws during initial installation.  I've done all the updates, drivers, uninstall, re install, repair disk permission, static ip address....you name it... I've done it all and nothing seems to work.  What makes no sense to me is that prints so great only one page and then is gone.... I would be happy to know the printer is dead and go get a new one but in my mind if it prints ok one page it still works.  I don't want to have a new printer and find out it does the same thing.  I can't keep myself away from blaming Mountain Lion.  IS THERE ANY WAY TO REMOVE MOUNTAIN LION WITHOUT THE RISK OF DAMAGING THE COMPUTER????  PERHAPS GOING BACK WILL PROVE ME MOUNTAIN LION IS THE CULPRIT.  Just saying... I am totally frustrated.  I guess the next step is to get a baseball bat and fix the printer once and for all.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Any fix for this? I have the same problem after upgrade.  It's off by many seconds.  Thank you.

  • HP ENVY 100 D410 Printing issues...

I have an HP ENVY 100 that has recently started having printing issues.  We recently upgraded to Mountain Lion and had no problems in the upgrade nor have we had any other software that we've changed.  The problem seems to be somewhat random and the results are always the same.  When commanded to print the printer acts as if it is running out of ink and then distorts the fonts creating vertical lines on the page and skipping rows creating what almost looks like a bar code. It's most peculiar and the only way I can find to solve the issue is to completely restart both my system and the printer.  Thinking that I had a driver issue on my Mac I used the utility on the printer to update drivers and none were found.  To insure that the problems wasn't isolated to just my machine I tried our laptop as well and it seems to have the same problem.  Has anyone had a similar problem?

    Hi Talon,
That more liekly related to the software indeed, I would suggest trying the following steps:
Reset the printing system as listed below:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&docname=c01371980
Open the Applications folder, then Hewlett-Packard and then open the Device Utilities folder, launch the HP Setup Asisistant and follow the steps to reconfigure the device.
If there is no Hewlett-Packard folder simply re-add the printer by clicking the plus button under Print & Scan.
Now try printing and follow for any difference.
If the same persists uninstall any HP Software by following the HP Uninstaller under the Hewlett-Packard folder.
If there is no Hewlett-Packard folder follow the steps listed under Mac OS X 10.6, 10.7, and 10.8 > I used Apple Software Updates to install the product software below:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c02440673&tmp_task=useCatego ry&cc=us&dlc=en&lang=en&lc=en&product=5157536#N1305
Download and isntall the latest Lion Software below:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=mp-97934-2 &cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&os=219&product=4073738&sw_lang=
Once completing the installation click the Apple icon and install any available Software Update.

  • Which multifunction Laser printer (MFP) for Lion? - need multipage scanning through automatic document feeder

    Hi all,
I'd love to get your advice on what MFP laser printer to buy.
    I need:
    - Laser color PRINTING for a small business (+/- 1500 pages per month)
    - SCANNING, preferably easy multipage scanning through the automatic document feeder
    Optionally:
    - 2nd paper feed tray
I think of buying the HP Color LaserJet CM2320fxi, but there seem to be plenty of compatibility issues with Lion (e.g. scan to network folder does not work on Lion).
I'd love to hear about success or failure of MFP on Lion from HP, Brother, Xerox, Lexmark, etc...
    Thx for your advace,
    S.

I can recommend the Canon MF8380C. It has a document feeder that supports duplex scanning to Lion, either via Image Capture or Preview or 3rd party application like Acrobat Pro. You can also push scan documents from the machine by first configuring the scan settings using the Canon MF Toolbox that gets installed on the Mac.
The print quality is good for office documents, but not that accurate for colour proofing. It uses Canon's proprietary UFR2 v2.30 driver of which the Lion version of this driver is available from the Canon web.
As for the monthly volume, 1500 pages per month is the maximum recommended volume, so not sure if this would suit your business needs. It's recommended monthly volume is 800 colour pages.

  • Has anyone successfully gotten an HP Color Laserjet 2600n to print from OSX Lion?

I have it installed by IP address with the drivers that Apple Update provided. When I send a print job to it, the status shows that it's connected and printing and the little sideways barber pole is screwing away, but the job never prints. As a matter of fact, the printer never even starts its warm-up cycle. Has anyone gotten this printer to work on a bone stock OSX Lion 10.7 image?  This iMAC 27 is brand-freakin-new.
I have absolutely no printing issues from any of the 5 (cringe) - Windows 7 machines in the house.
Thanks for looking. I hope to have some helpful response soon.

KJameZzZ179 and  PAHU - I appreciate you guys taking the time out of your busy schedules to help me. I pinged the printer and it replied. I pulled up its web interface and the gateway and subnet settings matched the settings on my iMac.  I opened a PDF and sent it to the printer successfully. I don't know what the hold up was, and while I am glad that I can print now, I am equally disappointed that I wasn't able to find the root of the problem so we could provide an answer to anyone else in the future that might have had the same problem.  Thanks again for your responses and willingness to help.

  • Printer issues HP6600

HP Officejet 6600 connected through network via BT Router to Mac running Yosemite.
The printer will scan and print a test page no problem so the nework can find it, but will not print anything from MS office.
The document goes into the print queue and stays there.
I have rebooted, updated, reset print preferences, deleted printer and reloaded, tried hardwiring it through USB port all to the same result. I am lost as to what to do next. Please help

    Hi @Domdevg,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand that you cannot print from Microsoft Office with your HP Officejet 6600 on Mac OS X Yosemite. I am happy to help you with this printing issue!
Out of curiosity, can you print from any other programs such as TextEdit? Or is it only Microsoft Office?
In the meantime, please see this guide, 'Printer is offline' Message Displays on the Computer and the Printer Does Not Print: Mac OS X. Once in the guide follow the steps for OS X v10.8 Mountain Lion and OS X v10.9 Mavericks as they will work for Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite.
Hope this guide helps, and thank you for posting!

  • Canon MX870 couldn't print after Mt. Lion installed

After installing Mountain Lion, my printer, Canon MX870 stopped printing with error message "Stopped - "Filter" Failed."
I downloaded the newest drivers from Canon, but it still didn't work. I spent over 30 mins with Canon's tech support, went through deleting printer from System preference "printer & scanner" list, disconnect printer, "resetting printing system," rebooting computer, then reconnecting printer, adding printer on "printer & Scanner" list again..... still didn't work. Canon tech support suggested to contact Apple, so I got Apple support help. Basically, we went through exactly same steps over and over,... didn't work. Then, I was suggested to use disk utility to verify disk, repair disk permission... restart and do above steps again, still didn't work. Next apple care guy suggested to "reinstall Mountain Lion" all together. I did. Still didn't work. He looked into communities comments and suggested to download 3rd party printer drive..... ahhhh, you are getting paid to support customers with your professional knowledge. Just looking up some solutions in the community posts and if it could solve the problem, I had already done so and didn't need to set up phone supports.   I was this close to give up....
As the last resort, I decided to manually delete all Canon folders from Library and application folder, restart computer, then installed new drivers again. Guess what, it worked.
So, if any of you having the same issues as I had, I recommend you to MANUALLY DELETE printer files. Evidently, "deleting printer" or "resetting printing system" via System preference don't delete all the existing Canon printer folders. (I wonder why AppleCare guys never suggested to do this....it could save me many hours.)

Hi Pahu. I've read some of your answers to other Canon printer owners and they've helped those people, so hopefully you can help me out. I tried both a regular cleaning and deep cleaning as well as a nozzle test, but that didn't fix the printing issue. Same goes for a factory reset on the actual printer.
So did the black ink appear with the nozzle test? If it did, then the black head/tank are okay.
    libbeh wrote:
The only thing I think could be causing this specific printer issue is possibly the chip on the ink cartridges. They aren't authentic Canon ink cartriges, but they worked before (however, on my PC). I purchased the ink cartridges a few years ago (2006 to be exact), so it is possible that the chip is interfering with the printer being fully printing all documents?
If the nozzle test does show the black ink then it won't be an issue with the cartridges.
But if there is no black on the nozzle test, and the deep clean has not helped, then you may just need to purchase a new black cartridge. With you purchasing the cartridges in 2006 and having the printer stored for a period of time, then it is quite likely that the nozzles in the print head have dried up and stopping the ink flow.

I'm kind of annoyed with myself that I didn't use this printer prior to upgrading from Snow Leopard to Lion to Mountain Lion since part of me thinks that the printer could be incompatible with Mountain Lion, but then again, I'm not a Mac expert. I'm computer/tech savvy, so any other suggestions you think may help (however "technical" it may be) would be much appreciated!
The printer is compatible with Mountain Lion. If it wasn't, then it would not print at all.
The other thing to note is that you have the same issue with your Windows partition via Bootcamp. If Windows was still printing but Mtn Lion wasn't, then there would be cause to blame the new version of OS X. But from what I have read it appears to be a physical machine issue rather than the OS.

  • Printing problems with Lion and Lexmark T630

I have a Lexmark T630 b/w laser printer with USB and IP connectivity.
With 10.6.8 I could print happily over Ethernet to the printer from iMacs (wired), mini (wired) and MBP (wireless).
With Lion on one of the iMacs and on the MBP I can't print over Ethernet.
The print queue shows a job 'Supply levels' in the print queue and does not print.
The printer is activated and this job appears as soon as I select the print dialog in apps (not actually select 'Print', just opening the print dialog).
I moved the printer to be USB connected to my Airport Extreme and get the same symptoms, except the 'Supply levels'  job prints a single line of symbols (mainly Spanish characters with some other symbols and ending in 2 smileys. It is always the same set of symbols, so I get this one line of junk on a page and then my print  job prints. Note that the T630 has *never* displayed supply levels in any version of the OS.
    The line printed is below.
This always happens from the Lion machines and does not happen from the other iMac which is still running 10.6.8, or from a mini which is connected on another network to the network port of the printer.  The mini is also running 10.6.8.
I have downloaded the latest Lexmark drivers from Apple and also from Lexmark (same version of driver either way) and it makes no    difference.
I can't find anything on the Apple Support site or the Lexmark support site.
It definitely looks like an issue with the printing system in Lion - both the phantom job and the activation of the printer as soon as a print dialog is opened.
Anyone have a fix for this?

The phantom print job will be a Postscript file to check the printer status. This process has been around since 10.5 but it usually is responded to silently by the printer rather than it sitting in the print queue. If you don't have the Supply Levels menu in Options & Supplies for this printer in Snow Leopard then it would suggest that Lexmark has changed the PPD for Lion.
So you could try creating another print queue on Lion but this time selecting the Generic Postscript driver included with Lion. This should let you print but provides few options. It it does work then at least you have an easy workaround.
Another possible fix would be copying the T630 PPD from Snow Leopard and replacing the T630 PPD in Lion. The PPD for both OS's are stored in /Library/Printers/PPDs/Contents/Resources. With the SL T630 PPD copied, you can open the CUPS web page in Lion and select to modify the T630 queue. From this page select the T630 printer and from the next page change the Adminstration drop menu to Modify Printer. You will be prompted for your Mac admin user name and password. After entering these details you see the first page showing the print queue. Select Continue and probably Continue again until you see the page where you can change the printer make and model. Here is also the section to browse for a PPD. Browse to the T630 PPD from Snow Leopard and then press Modify Printer. Now you can see if all that effort was worth it.

    3. Go to the start screen (you may also press the windows key + R to open the run box) and type %WINDIR% this should show the windows folder.
Click on the folder and scroll until you see files. Look for a filed named "HPWINS*.DAT" (the * is for a number that varies) remove this file and try the installation.

  • New airport extreme and printer issues

    OK here is the deal
I have the new airport and a hp psc 750 printer. I have a new macbook which can not print on this printer. It will recognize it thru bonjour but will not install the driver - the odd thing is that I have a pc connected directly and a windows based wireless laptop which both are able to print via this airport. I also have an external hard drive that is connected to the airport. All of the computers are able access this drive. So all appears in order except for the macbook-printer issue. I contacted tech support and they claimed driver issue. Anyone have any ideas - I have updated the most recent drivers for this computer and I was able to install this printer via a usb connection. Thanks

There have been a few posts about issues with HP printers working or not working as the case may be through the extreme. I can't remember what they say, but a search for HP in this forum may well help you.
Sorry to be so vague, just thought it might be a start for you.

  • Need help diagnosing cause of printing issue w/ image distortion

Hello, I'm looking for some expert advice for my print issue with image distortion (see above) on my files once setup and proofed by my printer.
I have a large PSD background file out of photoshop (CMYK, 170mb psd) that is being placed into an InDesign document. No preflight errors, all correct SWOP cmyk settings, and I keep having issues where images distort on my printers proofs - they seem unable to explain the issue and can't offer any other suggestions beyond ("just try resaving/uploading again" which of course has an added fee with each upload...).
The files are all fine on our end: on-screen, on our cmyk proofs, and our saved PDFs/packaged files. But everytime our printer opens these they seem to have these distorted image problems - scrambled images (almost as if there was a ghosted transparent image in the distorted area), strange lines (see above, and color distortion (usually greens and pinks, see above).
Is this an issue with my settings/file formats? Maybe the issue lies on our printers end? I'll keep checking this throughout the day and provide quick answers to anyone who can help me get to the bottom of this.
Adobe forums have been a huge help in years past so I decided this was by best bet for a resolution from those who know more than myself (or my printer), thanks for taking the time to help!
