HP Printing Slightly Crooked offcenter

illustrator CS2-Windows XP-I have had adobe illustrator CS2 for 3 + years.I am self taught novice. Usage for grpahics. I use a HP b8350 printer great for a year w/adobe.The problem if you look at printed image it is askew. The bottom third of the image goes askew on the right about a 1/8 of an inch wider, noticable to my eye when printed on 8.5 x 11 image area 8 x 10. And viceversa for the left side it is an 1/8 smaller/narrow. MY Adobe files have never printed centered on the page. I called HP they literally tried for 5 days straight, hours of time on the phone and couldn't fix it. They gave up & sent me a new printer. I still have the same problem with the new printer. I also have lost fonts as well. I tried removing & reloading the software Adobe & HP. This is the student version and really has worked well. But I am tired of "living" with this problem. I read HP has some issues with printing adobe because of post script. I have know clue what all that means. I have manually adjust the image to be center and I have to rotate the image to compensate for the image being crooked. This can be a waste of paper, ink and time. originally when printer was set up I had to call HP because the image was printing with lines . HP had to change a .dll file...PLease help me! I think perhaps it's a driver but Hp tried that several times and it didn't fix it. I'd consider upgrading but I am afraid I would have the same problem & wasted monies. Adobe support will not help me because it is CS2 verison & said I she post here.Thank You

Try updating the drivers for the printer to see if that helps.
Also, does this only happen with illustrator or can you print correctly from another program?

  • Rectangles are printing slightly crooked on my hp 6280

Running on a G5, OS 10.5.8 printing to an HP and I can see a big rectangle is slightly off from true? What to do?

    Kerry,
Sounds like the paper is skewed going through the printer. If so, adjusting the guides closer to the paper size may help. Or, you may have dirty rollers that are not pulling evenly on the paper. This all assumes that the rectangle is square to the margins in your Pages document. You could verify by selecting the rectangle and then checking the Metrics Inspector Rotation indication.

I'm thinking of using Final Cut Pro to straighten slightly crooked footage and then re-import back to iMovie to complete the video. Does this have any impact on image quality?

As your rotate the image, you will begin to see black edges. So, as Tom implies, the image must be scaled up to hide those voids. If you shot 4k ad are editing in a HD timeline, no problem, lots of room to spare. If you shot 1080 and are editing in a 1080 timeline, you will run into issues at a certain point. However, if your 1080 project is going to be transcoded to 720 or ye olde DVD you won't notice any deterioration at all.

  • Why does my artwork print slightly larger than actual size? - MacOS 10.9.2

I have an issue which I have no answer.  Every time I print an artwork for product mockup, say a 3x5 card, it prints slightly larger than a 3x5 card.  I have to manually scale my artwork down to 98.5 in the print dialog to get as close as possible to the actual size.  Its not related to a specific printer.  I have an HP printer and a Canon printer and the issue exists exactly the same between the two.  I'm running Illustrator 17.1 on an iMac running MacOS 10.9.2.  Can you please help make this easier for me?

    Wayne,
Are you using PostScript printer drivers (or at least PostScript emulation)? Non PostScript drivers may behave a bit like gremlins.
What happens if you Save As or Print to PDF and then print from that using the actual size/no adaptation to paper size?

  • Pages print slightly altered from onscreen image

Printing from Adobe Reader XI to HP Deskjet D4260 - Pages print slightly altered from onscreen image: black boxes appear at random, gray lines, document is not at top of page. HELP!

I have "updated" my printer in every way I can find on the HP website. I was not having these issues before I changed from a computer using XP to a computer with Windows 7 (and my Adobe was updated). Before then, everything printed as it should with the HP printer.

  • Black Catridge Printing Slightly

I'm using deskjet 1510 series for about a year, but recently there's a problem on the black catridge. When I set the quality on plain paper from normal to best quality, the output paper always prints the words slightly. I try to use special paper but it's still the same. Then I try using photo paper with best quality and the result prints the words clearly. This thing happened after I refill the black catridge by myself, not buying the original hp catridge. Is it possible to make it clear again with plain paper best quality setting? Since it's too extravagant if I always use the photo paper best quality setting or maybe there're some indications of failure from the printer pin? I hope I explain it cleary, look forward for the solution, thankyou.
    Regards,
    Syafira

The black cartridge is not used when photo paper is selected, since the pigmented black ink is not compatible with photo paper.
It would appear you have incompatible ink or have introduced air into the black cartrdige.
Replacing the black cartridge with a genuine HP cartridge should resolve the issue.  [Unless the refill ink has contaminated the service station caps and wipers, in that case more work may be required....]

  • Screen is slightly crooked - Any suggestions?

My iMac came back from the shop last Wednesday morning. (It was suffering from the widespread power supply unit/logic board defect.) Anyway, after my elation at having it back wore off, I noticed that the screen seemed slightly askew. At first, I attributed this to placing the iMac at a different spot on my desk. However, when I looked closely at it yesterday, I discovered that the right side of the LCD is 1/16th of an inch lower than the left side. Is it possible for the LCD to have been put slightly askew during the repairs at the shop? If so, is there an easy way to adjust the screen without having to send it back to the shop?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I just fixed mine. There are four screws (or 3 screws in early models) that attach the screen to the arm. (The screws are attached to that metal circle in the center on the back.) Mine were loose and caused the tilt.
You'll need torx wrenches . . . some small sizes for case, and a larger one (I don't know which size exactly . . . around #10 or so) for the mount screws.
All you have to do is get the front cover of the screen off, lift the screen out, (after disconnecting cables) and then loosen and re-tighten those screws attached to the circle-shaped mount.
WARNING- the cables connected to the LCD are very delicate . . . . be sure and find a step-by-step service manual or website for screen disassembly, or you could really screw up your screen)
I was actually able to tighten my screws without disconnecting any LCD wires - I just tipped the screen up, (FROM THE TOP ONLY - with screen resting face down on a pillow.) after removing front display cover, until the cables lost the slack. (loosening some of the yellow tape holding the cables down gives you a bit more slack.)
Tightening the screws is then, a bit tricky, because if you want to do this with the cables still on, you need a very short torx driver - reason being, you can only lift the screen to a 45 degree angle, and most Torx wrenches are too long. (tall)
I actually used just a torx "bit" (The kind that fits in a screwdriver type rachet) and tighted the screws by hand.
REMEMBER - THIS IS VOID YOUR WARRANTY. Do it ONLY if you feel comfy messing around in a computer.
    Good Luck.

  • Screen slightly crooked... any way to fix this?

When I close the lid of my macbook there is a noticable discrepancy between the right and left sides of the screen. The right one seems to close the right way, but the left side closes about 1/2 mm- 1mm behind the edge of the bottom of the macbook. Is there anyway to fix this. If no, will they let me exchange this for a new one at the apple store? I realize this is a small problem, but if I'm paying 1700 $ for a laptop I don't feel I should have to put up with this.
    Thanks

  • Printing Crooked

After I removed a paper jam, the printer is now printing slightly crooked. I tried it align it but because the alignment page is crooked the printer does not recognize it.

I know you have cleared the jam already, and I appreciate your efforts thus far, but I'd suggest completing the steps in the following document; A 'Paper Jam' Error Displays on the HP ENVY 5530 e-All-in-One and Deskjet Ink Advantage 4510 e-All-i....
This document will guide you through the necessary steps to clean he rollers and complete check the printer over. If one roller sticks or if there is even a tiny piece of paper in the printer still, it could cause the paper to be pulled in crooked.

  • PSC 2000 prints crooked pages even though print heads were supposedly aligned.

The printer had not been used for awhile and was transported home from law school. I set it up back at home and everything works well except the the pages are printing slightly crooked (tilted to the right). I cleaned the print heads and aligned the print heads yet the problem persists.  Any suggestions?

    Hi monkplayer,
It looks like your problem is solved? There wasn't a problem with the printer itself, just the printer settings on your Mac?
This is good information though. We don't always have detailed solutions for customers that are using Safari, since it is hard to write instructions for the general public with specific steps for each operating system.
    Best of luck,

  • Pages - Print guidelines on brochures/not printing a narrow strip!

Hi - I've perused all the postings that I can see related to brochures but can't see anything like this question.
I've been using Pages for quite a while and have successfully created and printed out all kinds of things but I just can't figure this out!
I created a brochure with many layers loosely using the Classic Brochure template. I've printed out several drafts as I work and thought that the part to the side that wasn't printing was my printer error (I have difficulties with thing printing slightly crooked). I've just looked at the document with Invisibles, rulers and layout guides all "on" - there is a grey area on the right side of both pages of my brochure document - it is not "clickable" and ends up at the 26" mark above. It is like a see through layer, I can see my colours, gutters, layout below but this narrow 1.5 cm space does not print out when I print the document - everything else comes out beautifully.
What could be wrong? I'm on a time deadline with this piece for this week and of course I'm working on it for my sister who is very "anti-Mac" (and things always seem to go wrong for me or my system when I'm doing something for her of course!)
Replies and solutions gratefully received! I can email my piece out or post it somewhere to look at if you don't understand what I'm talking about.
I should mention that I did look at the layout and margins settings (nothing seems to make a difference) and I've clicked and tried to "drag" to no avail ...
    Thank you!

Is the page size in File > Page Setup the same as the layout size you are trying to use?
I ask this because I had a similar issue when I tried to reduce my page size in setup to print a slightly bigger page to an A4 printer. It meant that to print my stuff, I had to export as PDF first then print.

  • Printing from PDF is slightly larger

I placed an image on an 8.5x11 piece of paper and saved it as a PDF. Once it was printed directly from Acrobat the image was printed slightly larger than when I print directly from Photoshop. Why is this and is there any way I can fix it?
By the way I've already checked to see if "scale to fit page" was checked and it was not.
    Thank You!
I was wondering this b/c I'm sending a pdf to someone and I'm worried it's going to print larger than the actual size I want it at.

Check each document to see if both documents have the same pixel dimensions (so many pixels wide by so many pixels have) and that they are at the same ppi resolution in the file.  Also check the print settings for each application.
You have not indicated what platform you're on (Macintosh or Windows), what exact version of the OS and of the applications (Acrobat and Photoshop) you are running, what kind of printer and what version of the printer driver.  Also state the exact physical sizes of the printed document so we have an idea of what "slightly larger" means to you.
You are not giving us nearly enough information.

  • I am having trouble printing 4x6, 1" bottle cap images, they are printing too small

I have a new iMac and cannot get standard 1" bottlecap images to print to the correct size. They print slightly smaller than 1". They are printed on 4"x6" photo paper. I am selecting that size when I print. I also can print from photoshop. Thanks for any tips!

    Oh my...
It seems that, embarrasingly I was tripple checking everything for 4x6 prints but actually had 5x7 loaded in the printer!
    Thanks for helping the hopeless.

  • Difference in color from CS5 to my printer.

I cannot get the output of an HP Photosmart 7520 printer to match the image on my calibrated screen.  Previous HP printers had no trouble;  this one prints slightly red and slightly dark.  It is consistent on Windows XP and Windows 7 and on a different computer.  It is also consistent with Windows Paint.  HP has no answer; they referred me to Adobe.  Any suggestions or answers would be appreciated.  P.S. I am a professional photographer and this is not a trivial problem.

    Here are some screen shots...
I'm pretty sure I've been able to print out of there before. I haven't had this printer THAT long (since Christmas) and I haven't used it a ton. I do know I printed a PDF once with color and that worked fine. I tried a PDF tonight and it wouldn't print color on that either. The "grayscale" button was NOT checked on that, either.

  • Anyone notice that the button panel is crooked?

Anyone notice on their 4th generation Shuffle that the button panel is slightly crooked?
Or do I have the only one out there that is

If you feel as though your Shuffle has a slight defect, it might be worth having it looked at by bring it into your local Apple Store/Genius Bar.  Otherwise, if it is functionality properly, I wouldn't worry too much about it.
