  • My Probook 4310s won't boot at all

    Hi there
My probook 4310s energy star suddenly stop working and won't boot at all. Prior to this, the windows freeze couple of times and I had to power off by pressing the power button for few seconds. And this happened few times in a week (not every time I used it)
Now, when I turn it on, the laptop just show the very first splash screen, the one with the logo of 'hp invent', 'intel' and 'press the ESC key for startup Menu'. But pressing any key wont do nothing.
These are what I have tried so far.
    - I tried pressing ESC, F11, F12, F10 and all of the F keys but nothing happened
    - I even tried to take off the Harddrive and memory card to see if the drive or memory were faulty but it stayed the same.
    - with the hd and memory back in, I tried putting in the installation dvd in the hope that the laptop will boot from it, but nothing happened.
    - for several times, I let it on overnight and in the morning the screen shows the recovery menu, startup repair, etc. but choosing any option do not do anything and pressing cancel would bring me back to the original faulty state.
    - When it show the startup repair menu, I could go to prompt screen and browse the hd content and every files seems to be fine apart from my c drive is now recognized as d drive.
can anyone tell me what is wrong and how to fix it? thank you very much.
It's running on windows 7 home premium 64 bit.

  • HP Probook 4310s WLAN diabled

For the past few weeks, my HP Probook 4310s (running Win7 Pro 32 bit) WLAN is getting diabled very frequently. I have noticed this mostly when the laptop is moved around, and not when it is placed on a table with no motion. Most of the times, WLAN is reactivated upon restart but sometimes, I have to restart multiple times. I have tried to check this issue in safe mode but it is of no help. When WLAN is disabled, I can not enable it from HP wireless assistant and the device just disapperas from device manager list. I also tried troubleshooting through BIOS but it does not show any problem in WLAN. I checked some forums, where people have reported this problem on Windows 7 but could not find any solution. Can somebody help? Thanks.

Hello, I'm new in this forum because I didn't had this kind of problem before. I tried everything and please help me it happend when I updated bios but my friends have this same problem with this laptop

    Hi,
    Try the following.
Download the IDT Audio installer on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder.
    http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp59001-59500/sp59291.exe
When done, open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager and open up Sound, Video and Game Controllers.  Right click the IDT device and select Uninstall - you should also get a prompt to remove the current driver, tick the box to allow this and then proceed with the uninstall.
When complete, download and reinstall the Chipset driver on the following link.
    http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp52001-52500/sp52145.exe
When the reinstallation has completed, shut down the notebook, unplug the AC Adapter and then remove the battery.  Hold down the Power button for 30 seconds.  Re-insert the battery and plug in the AC Adapter.
Let Windows fully load - it will automatically load an audio driver, but just let this complete.  Then open your Downloads folder, right click on the IDT installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation.  When this has completed, right click the speaker icon in the Taskbar and select Playback Devices.  Left click 'Speakers and Headphones' ( or Speakers/HP ) once to highlight it and then click the Set Default button - check if you now have audio.

  • HP ProBook 4530s AUDIO PROBLEM WIN 8.1

Hello. I have HP Probook 4530s. After I installed Windows 8.1 update 1 the sound driver stopped working properly. When I want to play some music, video or even system sounds, sound appears after 1-2 minutes. At that time HDD usage is 100% cause of windows audio device graph isolation. I’ve installed that IDT High Definition (HD) Audio Driver from HP’s driver support site, but that’s not working. As I see in device manager driver’s release date is 24.10.2012. I think, it’s too old for Windows 8.1. Can you help me? Is there any other newer version of that sound driver?

    Hi,
Please using Device Manager to uninstall the existing driver and try the following driver:

  • HP Probook 4525s Startup Problem

Hello, I've had my HP Probook 4525s for about a year now. For the past month, it has been randomly freezing forcing me to turn it off without properly shutting it down. Eventually, my HP prompted me to restore my hard drive. After assuring all files I needed were properly backed up, I restored my hard drive to its default factory state. My HP restarted itself and began setup, but there's a problem. It says "setup is preparing your computer for first use" and an error repeatedly comes up saying "The computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error. Windows installation cannot proceed. To install Windows, click "OK" to restart the computer, and then restart the installation. I've clicked okay and it restarts, but then it brings me once again to the same screen with the same error. I don't know what to do. Any suggestions are much appreciated.

Hi, There are a couple of options I'd suggest. 1.  You can order a replacement set of Recovery Discs using the link below - using these to reinstall the OS, will also re-create the Recovery Partition. Order HP Recovery Discs. 2.  Assuming this is just a problem with the Recovery Partition, here's an alternative option you could try. Before trying the following, make sure you can still read the 25 Character Product Activation key on your Windows COA label ( 5 blocks of 5 alpha/numeric sets ). An example of a COA Label can be seen Here. You can create an installation disc yourself using another PC - just download the correct Disc Image ( this must be the exact same version that originally came with your notebook ) from the link below and use an application such as ImgBurn to burn the ISO correctly to a blank DVD - a guide on using ImgBurn to write an ISO to a disc is Here.  These Images are clean and from a well-respected source, however there are only limited versions available. Windows-7 sp1-iso-official-32-bit-and-64-bit Use the disc to perform the installation, enter the Windows activation key found on the COA Label when requested and when the installation has completed, use the 'Phone Method' detailed in the link below to activate the OS - this method supported by Microsoft and is popular with people who just want a clean installation of Windows 7 without the additional software load normally bundled with OEM installations. http://www.kodyaz.com/articles/how-to-activate-windows-7-by-phone.aspx Any additional drivers and software you may need can be found starting Here. Regards, DP-K

  • HP ProBook 4510s Battery problem

I have HP ProBook 4510s notebook for some time. Yesterday I have reinstalled Windows 7 and during the update it was on battery power, about 50% remaining and it just went off. It is weak battery but it still holds for about an hour. Well not any more. I powered it up on AC charger and it seems like the battery isn't there and still I see message in taskbar that the battery is 54% charged end not charging. I ran HP support assistant battery chek and it shows that battery is weak but functioning correctly. If I unplug ac power adaptor it shuts down, I can't power it up on battery and yet it still shows that the battery is 54% charged. Does anyone have any idea about this problem? I have already tried removing Microsoft ACPI-Compliant and pretty much everything I could find and it's not workig. Updated BIOS whit the latest version on HP support and still nothing. Like I said, Battery is there, passing the test, 54% charged, and yet it's like there is no battery at all. Please help.

    Hi Jacktrimi,
Where you able to run the Battery Test and Battery Calibration as I suggested above?  That is the best way to find out what the actual status of your battery is.  You can post the results back here if you would like.
It is hard to say how long any particular battery will last because it really depends on how it is used and what environmental conditions it is used in.  See Improving Battery Performance for details on how best to use your battery and get the longest possible life out of it.

  • Probook 4530s keyboard problems

We have a probook 4530s that the keyboard has started randomly on it's own typing in caps and duplicating characters.  The caps lock is not on when this starts happening, and the user has a hard time getting it to stop.
Any suggestions for what is causing this?

I got my 4530s 2 months ago and the keyboard problems started right away. The keys that are used in gaming to direct my character were repeating causing my character to to be very eratic. As the keys spring back into place and the game was just updated, I thought the problem was in the game. After finding out that there was no problem in the game, I called HP and they sent a new keyboard. Problem solved? NO! The new keyboard was better, but still had the same basic problem AND I could see key repeats in MSWord. Called again, had trouble convincing the girl rep that I knew what I was talking about, but they sent another. Fixed?  NO! The new keyboard is slightly better, but the problem still exists. While typing this I experienced for the 1st time the caps issue. If there is a resolution, I hope they come up with it soon. This is very frustrating. F.Y.I.  I spent 30 years in the computer industry.

  • HP ProBook 4710s Sound Problems

I have a HP ProBook 4710s running Windows 7 Professional 64-bit (SP1).  For the last month or so, I have had audio problems.  When I am watching something on Windows Media Player, or YouTube, or anything on-line (including the sound through Skype), the sound is fine for awhile and then goes off for a few seconds.  It then starts doing this on and off throughout whatever I am watching/listening to.  I put in the headphones and the sound works perfectly there.  But, what has now been happening is, once the headphones are in for awhile, the sound then starts coming out of the speakers as well as the headphones.  New problem yesterday - I was having a Skype call, used my headphones to hear the person (worked okay), then the sound began coming out of the computer speakers and the mic stopped working!!!  I could hear the person I was talking to but they could not hear me (this was after the sound starting coming out of the speakers)!!!  It is all so weird and soooooo frustrating!!!  I have tried all of the updates and nothing.  What else can I do?!?!?!  Thanks for any help you can give me.
btw - my audio is SoundMAX Integrated Digital HD audio

  • HP Probook 6545b Bios Problem

I flashed my bios on HP Probook 6545b with the newest bios version which i found on HP support download page for this model. I successfully finished flashing procedure but my laptop is now dead. Battery led is permanently blue with orange flash on every second. Does anybody knows if it is possible to do some low level bios recovery !?

If it's completey dead, you need a BIOS hardware specialist, try contacting AQSTECH.com I had a failed DV6000 BIOS as well. Much cheaper than a replacement motherboard.
