HP Probook 4410s bit upgrade to 64 bit

HII need to upgrade to 64 bit OS of my systemthe config isMotherboard is HP 3072 Chipset GM45/GM47 CPU: Intel Mobile Core 2 duo Can i upgrade to 64 bit processor? what should i do? Thanks

Hello lightfoot500.  I understand you're curious about installing a backlit keyboard.
Here is the HP Part Surfer page for your ProBook.  This lists all of the available parts for the notebook and their corresponding part numbers.  None of the listed keyboards are notated as being backlit.
As far as installing a keyboard for another notebook it is highly unlikely to work.  The only way to do so would be to disassemble the notebook and see if the part will fit.  However, even if the keyboard is the same size, it is unlikely to be a perfect fit as the location of the parts is going to be significantly different between the ProBook and ENVY series of notebooks.
If you do decide to attempt this upgrade you will need to take a look at your notebook's Maintenance and Service Guide.  This covers how to assemble and disassemble the notebook and will likely prove very helpful.
If you have any further questions let me know.  I hope you have a great afternoon!

  • HP Probook 4520s Memory upgrade to 8GB (2x4GB) Corsair Unsuccessful and Failed

    Ok, here is the story
My notebook is HP Probook 4520s
    with Windows Windows 8.1 (6.3) 64-bit (Build 9600)
Please refer to the end of this post for CPU-Z report of specs.
Currently I have 3GB of memory installed -had to install them back after upgrade failure-.
Please refer again to the CPU-Z report for the memory module specifications.
I bought the following Corsair 2x4GB memory pack
    Corsair CMSO8GX3M2A1333C9 8GB (2x4GB) 1333MHz DDR3 SODIMM
    http://www.scorptec.com.au/product/Memory/SODIMM/43657-CMSO8GX3M2A1333C9
    Specs of new modules:
    Warranty Lifetime
    Size 8GB Kit (2 x 4GB)
    Performance Profile none
    Fan Included No
    Heat Spreader—
    Memory Configuration Dual Channel
    Memory Type DDR3
    Package - Memory Pin 204
    Package - Memory Format SODIMM

    SPD Speed 1333MHz
    Tested Speed 1333Mhz
    Tested Latency 9-9-9-24
    SPD Latency 9-9-9-24
When I installed the memory module onto the notebook, I basically couldn't go beyond the POST stage. That is the HP logo appears on the screen, and that's it.. that's it.. nothing beyond that stage.
When I went to the BIOS settings, the memory successfully read 81xxMB, this is basically 8GB of RAM.
I tried to reset BIOS settings, failed again.
I removed the 2x4GB modules, put back both original 1GB and 2GB modules -the ones that came with the notebook-, everything worked again.
    What went wrong here..?
P.S. please do not reply with lame replies like "that's weird" "that's strange", I know it's weird and strange. I want specific and clear suggestions.

Specific and clear. Your laptop uses 1.35 volt memory and you installed 1.5 volt.
Here is the crucial page for the memory you need:

  • HP Probook 6450b Memory upgrade issue

    Hi All,
I appear to be having a strange issue trying to upgrade the memory in a HP 6450b probook (i5-480m & ATI card). The laptop came with 2gb of p/n sps 598856-002 which is 1333mhz 1.5v ram with the manufacturer being ramaxel. I ordered and fitted a couple of 4gb kingston sticks
    http://h30094.www3.hp.com/product/sku/10473659/mfg_partno/KTH-X3BS/4G
Fitted them and all seemed to be well as the OS (win 7 32bit pro) showed the stick as 8gb recognised and 3gb usable, the bios also reports 8gb as well. However the moment a 64 bit OS (Linux or Windows) is attempted to be run the laptop just crashes or hangs
I previously attempted this upgrade with two sticks of crucial memory but had exactly the same problem, so thinking the crucial memory was the issue I returned them to the supplier and ordered the kingstons instead.
I have seen very similar issue noted here:
    http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/328016-30-memory-upgrade-probook
    and
    http://superuser.com/questions/580512/hp-probook-6450b-not-booting-after-memory-upgrade
My gut instinct suggests this laptop may be very fussy about the memory chips, it may have to be a 16 chip 4gb stick as opposed to 8 chip 4gb sticks.
Any thoughts and help on the matter would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

  • HP Probook 4440s CPU upgrade?

Hi, I have a HP Probook 4440s and I am slightly confused as to what CPUs my laptop is compatible with. My issue is mostly understanding the socket type. I have found from various sources that my laptop has a G2 cpu socket which has something (that I cannot fully grasp) to do with PGA988. I would like to buy a Intel Core i5 3380M if possible but it is listed as being for socket PGA988. Is this CPU compatible with laptop? I know the G2 socket and PGA988 are related in some way and they might be the same but I cannot find a concrete source that says either way

Well, Ivy Bridge is backward compatible with Sandy Bridge so the socket must be the same but the chipset is more important. What's the graphics card? Is it only the Intel HD or is there a dedicated vga?

    Hello RadimHerman ,
HP ProBook 4525s supports a max memory (RAM) of 8GB. It has 2 sockets for memory and each socket can hold upto 4GB. You can go with the following memory- "4GB DDR3-1333 PC3-10600 204Pin SODIMM".
You can find the memory either in crucial or memorystock. Good Luck with the upgrade.
If you have your laptop under warranty then you can service it from the nearest HP authorized service centres or you can contact HP.

  • Assistance With ProBook 6450b Processor Upgrade

    Friends,
I'm having difficulty upgrading my ProBook 6450b's processor. I currently have an i5 M450 Dual Core 2.4GHz processor installed so I DL'd the spec sheet from the HP website that said this notebook can handle the Intel i7-720QM processor and I recently procured one.
I installed the new i7 processor and re-assembled the notebook. When I powered up, the CAPS LOCK and NUM LOCK blinked four (4) times, I don't get a POST nor a BIOS message. That's a fault with the GPU, as I understand it, and nothing I did resolved the issue (I spent over 4 hours trying to research and fix it!) I decided to re-install the 'old' i5 processor to see if I actually DID blow the GPU...of course, it's working just fine - I'm using the notebook to enter this forum question right now.
BTW, my BIOS is at the latest F.50...
Would anyone have any suggestions? I really want to get this 'new' processor working...
    Thanks,

So after looking much more deeply into the makeup/build of my ProBook and finding only a few reputable sources from which to glean information, I've learned a few things. Namely:
There are two graphics options available with the 6450b/6550b ProBooks. The Intel HD graphics and the ATI Mobility graphics.
The ProBooks built with the ATI Mobility graphics option have DISCREET graphics: They have a dedicated graphics card.
Only these models with DISCREET graphics are able to be upgraded to the i7-720QM Quad core processor.
Of course, my ProBook 6450b was built with the Intel HD graphics and I'm not certain if I can install the ATI Mobility card in lieu of the Intel HD 4000. As it stands, I now own an i7 Quad Core processor that I can do nothing with. Would anyone know if/how I can acquire an ATI Mobility Graphics card and install it in my ProBook 6450b?

You don't those either came with AMD video or Intel HD boards. To get AMD you need to get a motherboard with AMD chipset video to get the describe video. And that could be a costly upgrade.

  • Hp Probook 4710s Ram Upgrade

Hello I have a Hp proobook 4710s with win7 ultimate 64bit and I want to upgrade my Ram.
Currently according to CPU-z I have 2GB at 800Mhz. While searching hp.com and the net I found out that some 4710s take ddr2  and other ddr3.
So I chated 2 weeks ago with an HP expert and he told that my laptop handles maximum 8GB at 1333. So I went and bought 2x2GB at 1333...
When I tried to installed them I came across with a DDR2 socket!!!!! Obviously the ddr3 wasn't fitting in that socket.
So my question is---> WHAT is going on? Everywhere I search in the Net some say DDR2 and others DDR3. How is that possible? Does the laptop have other sockets for Drr3 modules that I haven't find?
    My S/N is {Removed for privacy} and P/n is NX629EA#AKD
Please help because I am depserate!!

    Hi,
Many thanks for the link, I really don't know what is going on here too. On page #3 it says DDR2 but on other page(s) it says DDR3. Its manual also shows DDR2 as in my previous post and you've found out it only supports DDR2. May be later models support DDR3. Anyway, back to your question, I know Crucial RAM works but do not know others. Sorry.

In Arch Linux this laptop has already over-heated 3-4 times and SWITCHED OFF directly (hardware tempearture safety gets triggered)
But when I was on Fedora it never got over-heated and never SWITCHED OFF. (Did not happen in earlier versions of Fedora either)
CPU is on ondemand. (default ARCH setting) and acpi_cpufreq module is active. (again by default)
What I have noticed is that in Fedora 16 fan can be heard easily and would automatically go to higher RPM on higher use.
But in Arch I keep noticing that fan is hardily audible (it seems slower than in Fedora) and it goes to high speed very rarely. (only when I am compiling some program) and then it goes almost silent very immediately. (In Fedora it would slow down slowly slowly - less speed, lesser speed in steps)
So its like as if in Arch fan just runs in two speed - low and high and never runs at in between speed.
Mostly crashes happen when I run games like Supertux2. (its supposed to be lightweight 2D game)
I tried fancontrol but lmsensors (sensors-detect) is not detecing fan at all. (did not detect in fedora either).
    So fancontrol does not work.
Do I have to do special setting in lmsensors or my laptop does not support fan sensors?
How do I make sure that fan runs at speed equivalent to that in Fedora 16.
I have tried lots of things from Arch wiki but most articles seem irrelavant (as ondemand is what most of them recommend)
    Please suggest.
    Thank you

@amish, I have the same problems as you. My laptop model is very similar to yours; it's a HP ProBook 4410s. Unlike you, I run off a 128G SSD, so I don't have the option of trying out so many distros and OSes. Here's what I know:
Automatic fan speed control used to work properly some 2-3 months ago. I did not run CPU intensive tasks for a few months, and so I did not notice that the fan speed would not change after boot-up.
"$ sensors" used to report both, CPU temperatures and acpi temperatures. Now, it shows just CPU temperatures.
Under /sys/class/hwmon, I used to have hwmon0 and hwmon1, for CPU temps and acpi temps, respectively
Now, when I do sensors-detect, it finds the Intel digital thermal sensor properly. But after that, one of the odd things that I notice is:
    Trying family `SMSC'... Yes
Found unknown chip with ID 0x4501
I guess this is why "$ sensors" does not show my ACPI temperatures. However, "$ acpi -t" shows me:
    Thermal 0: ok, 45.0 degrees C
    Thermal 1: ok, 22.9 degrees C
    Thermal 2: ok, 36.0 degrees C
    Thermal 3: ok, 34.0 degrees C
    Thermal 4: ok, 41.0 degrees C
    Thermal 5: ok, 16.0 degrees C
The sensors work. On warm days these sensors show higher temperatures than on cold days.
I use a kludge to manually control the fan. This is what I get on my laptop:
    # cd /sys/devices/virtual/thermal
    # for i in cooling_device<0-15>; do; echo -n $i/cur_state \ ; cat $i/cur_state; done
    cooling_device0/cur_state 0
    cooling_device1/cur_state 0
    cooling_device10/cur_state 0
    cooling_device11/cur_state 0
    cooling_device12/cur_state 0
    cooling_device13/cur_state 0
    cooling_device14/cur_state 1
    cooling_device15/cur_state 0
    cooling_device2/cur_state 0
    cooling_device3/cur_state 0
    cooling_device4/cur_state 0
    cooling_device5/cur_state 0
    cooling_device6/cur_state 0
    cooling_device7/cur_state 0
    cooling_device8/cur_state 0
    cooling_device9/cur_state 0
I then manually change the bytes... until the temperature (as reported by "$ sensors") is acceptable. The command is something like:
    # echo -n 1 > cooling_device12/cur_state
I set each cooling_device/cur_state to "1" manually. I start with cooling_device14 and progress towards 0, in intervals of about a minute. Right now, my devices 12, 13, and 14 are set to 1. This, at an ambient temp of 20°C, keeps my CPU at about 30°C.
Perhaps I should write some code to automate this hack, but right now, this manual control "works" for me, and does not take up too much attention. I hope someone more knowledgeable of sensor drivers fixes it before I get down to hacking up some code.
