HP Probook 450 G1 Boot Failure....!!

Dear forum viewes and experts...
I hope you can provide me with your insights on this problem i am having...
I bought a new laptop HP ProBook 450 G1 (i5 4200M, 8GB RAM, 1TB HDD, 2GB ATI Graphics card). The laptop comes with DOS free operating system.
I installed Windows 7 Ultimate from ISO file on a USB stick, and then activated the Windows.
After updating all drivers and having a clean device manager with no hardware left as unknown, i figured out that the laptop fails to make a cold BOOT.
After several trials, and installations. the problem remained the same. I changed the installation to Windows 8.1 Pro and the problem remained the same.
On cold booting, the laptop after showing HP logo in start-up starts to show Windows Logo animation but in Super Slow Motion for about 6-8 minutes, then followed by strange sounds which force me to shut it down by pressing power button for long until it shuts down.
After huge number of trail and error, i found out that if I entered BIOS Setup (by pressing esc then F10) and then exiting it without doing any changes or even without saving, the Laptop boots Windows 7 very smoothly (in about 15-18 seconds) and works fine. it also can make endless number of smooth restarts without any problem.
If it is shut down then turned on, the boot failure is the outcome.
The only way to make a successful cold BOOT (i.e after a shut down) is to enter BIOS setup mode (by pressing esc then F10), then exiting it within seconds without changing anything or saving, then it boots smoothly.
I tried MBR fixes through command prompt in Recovery Mode, I tried to change booting to make it boot as LEGACY or UEFI Hybrid. The BIOS is updated to the latest frimware on HP website verion 1.2 dated 15 July 2014.
NO HELP.....All lead to the same disappointing result.
Any idea whether this is a hardware issue/software issue/BIOS issue?
Your insights will be highly appreciated

Can you post a screenshot with the PCI\VEN hardware ids of the bluetooth device? The image below shows an example of what we need to identify the device properly.

  • Unable to Install Win 8 in Probook 450 G2

I bought a new note book of HP Probook 450 G2 with Free DOS installed by factory. I am quite familier with DOS, Partitions & technical staff. I purchased this Probook 450 G2 becase of its beautifull design & specs, Its price suite me so I purchased it without Windows installed.
So after getting it I tried to install Windows 8 Pro via a USB Boot Installation but I got stuck at selecting Pratition to where it would be installed. It has 1 TB Hard dics drive.
    I deleted all partitions --- >> Unallocated 1 TB
    created single partition of 1TB ----> Created Partition 1 Size = 1TB
Clicked to Install Windows in it ---- > Error ( We couldn't create a new partition or locate an exiting one )
    Then tried Again !
    I deleted all partitions --- >> Unallocated 1 TB
    created single partition of 200GB ----> Created Partition 1 Size = 200GB
Clicked to Install Windows in it ---- > Error ( We couldn't create a new partition or locate an exiting one )
    Then tried Again !
Put Win 98 CD and Run FDISK ( The old way -> Low Level Format )
created single primary dos partition of 500GB ----> Created Partition 1 Size = 500GB
It took 12 Hours to complete above process " Verifying Device Intergity ..... "
After 12 Hours of completion I said to restart & farmat C:
After restart at started Win 98 with CD support ..
    reached Command Prompt : FORMAT C: /Q
    Error : Media Not found
This HP Probook is purchased 2 days back.
If anyone know how to resolve this issue.
    Help will be appreciated.

    You're very welcome.
    Sometimes strange things happen.
The error messages don't always match up with the real problem.
It sounds like Windows can't find the drive and when it can't find the drive that normally means the applicable sata driver needs to be installed.

  • I want to use finger print on HP Probook 450 G1 .. Windows 8.1 Pro

    Amr-Zero,
    No dying!
As far as I know, your computer is not going to run SimplePass -- it wants to run the HP Client Security Manager.
There are some prerequisites as listed on the System Requirements page.  Amongst these: the File Sanitizer Software, both .NET framework 3.5 and 4.5, and others.  It is likely that your system has all the necessary software, although you may not have installed the File Sanitizer yet.  It is available from your computer's driver page.
If you do not yet have .NET Framework 4.5, you can download install .NET Framework 4.5.1:  Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5.1
It is of vital importance that you have all your Windows Updates in place.  Make sure they are indeed complete.  If you are one of the people in the world that do not believe in Windows Updates, turn them off later -- this is not the time.
    HP ProBook 450 B1 Notebook Drivers - Windows 8.1
You need to remove and banish that SimplePass software from the system.
Control Panel > icon view > Programs and Features > find and remove the SimplePass software
    Next:
Create a Restore Point   Create a Restore Point – Win7  OR  Create a restore point Win8
Close all your programs and Shut down the computer
Disconnect everything (little Unifier for the keyboard / external mouse can stay)
Perform the Hard Reset for your notebook
Boot the computer and log in
Reminder:  Hard Reset is just a device Reset.  The Hard Reset procedure does not wipe out your files nor does it destroy your Windows setup in any way.  It just "clears the cobwebs".  Depending on the cause of the problem, this kind of "reset" can fix a variety of computer glitches.

Unfortunately, this is the extent of my knowledge on the subject.  You have a "business" computer and this is "business" software.  I perfectly understand that YOU might be just someone sitting in your house somewhere on the planet -- it is the COMPUTER and the SOFTWARE that is the difference here.
There is a White Paper on the subject in your Manuals section -- it is useful if you have some background in the subject at all.
    Click the Kudos Thumbs-Up!
It is a nice way to say “Thank You" for the help.
Although I strive to reflect HP's best practices, I do not work for HP.

I searched on internet, I think this is caused by my graphic card(ATI 5750), but I have no idea to solve it
I don't know my system boot failure due to these error or another things.
    my PC specs:
    motherbroad - gigabyte GA-P55A-UD3 (bios ver - F11)
    cpu -  i5-750
    display - ati 5750
    os - arch 64bit
Currently, I have downgraded back to 3.13.
I hope someone can give me some idea,
    Thanks

As there are errors associated with ntpd, I would temporarily disable the ntpd service and also ipv6.
If they are not the only problem, at least your logs would be easier to examine for other problems.

  • Problem with Display card of Probook 450 G1

    Hello
I have just bought Hp probook 450 G1 and i have installed all mandatory drivers from HP site , but now i am facing a problem with the display cards .I tried it n PES 13 Game , it says that my device is not apprpraite  , also it reads the AMD card ram as 32 MB and says its unable , also that happens with intel card.

    Hello @Captiano ,
Thanks for posting on the HP Forums!
I understand you are experiencing an issue with your notebook. However, since this is a commercial notebook, you should post your issue on the notebook board of the HP Enterprise Forums for a better answer.

  • My HP Probook 450 G0 fingerprint reader is not working WIndows 7

    Hello,
I am trying to enable my HP Probook 450 G0 fingerprint reader.... I tried many driver version of validity sensor... and finally i have currently installed the driver and software that are mentioned in following link....
    http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Operating-Systems-and-Software/DV4-1240br-FingerPrint-Driver-f...
Both are them working fine (**without any error) But DigitalPersona is showing me the following message on welcome screen.... "The FingerPrint reader is not connected.Connect the reader"....
    OS : Windows 7 Professional
What do you say.....is there any compatibiltiy issue or any hardware issue....or if there any driver mismatch, can someone suggest me the supported driver version....
    Thanks in Advance

I have the same problem as the original poster, and followed the download link you provided only to encounter the exact same issue.  I am using Windows 7 and bought this machine two days ago.  I don't understand why this singular process is this problematic.  I really miss my ASUS K53E and it's face logon feature.
Perhaps HP should take lessons unless they have something better than this "fingerprint reader."  The only consistent feature I am detecting is its inconsistancy.  Oh well, I just won't bother using it, or put a sticker over the thing.
If I have to spend more than an hour troubleshooting a feature of medium to low importance then it was a mistake to purchase the machine (but it was a gift sadly), and it was a mistake to implement the feature and release it without making sure it works.  Pretty weak HP, but not as bad as Toshiba or Gateway/Acer at least--not that it says much.
Anyone have a legit fix for this annoying issue?  Or some third party facial recognition login program instead?

  • HELP! How can i restore/recover files from Bootcamp with Boot Failure - Missing operating system error?

    Hi,
I am having a few problems with bootcamp on my imac. When i tried to move the bootcamp partition on windows 7 into free space, it crashed and turned off. Ever since i have had the error 'Missing operating system' and it fails to boot. I have some very important files on the bootcamp partition. Is it possible to recover these files or even to restore the bootcamp partition to it's original state? I do not have a backup of my bootcamp partition. Another problem i have is that ever since i tried to expand my macintosh HD partition into free space, when i hold alt while booting up (to choose which partition to boot like i normally do), the bootcamp partition has stopped appearing. This means that i cannot even boot the windows 7 bootcamp partition anymore!
So basically here are my 2 questions:
How can i restore/recover files from Bootcamp with Boot Failure - Missing operating system error?
How can i make the Bootcamp partition appear in Startup Disk and when i hold the option key while starting up my computer to allow me to boot windows 7?
Any solutions are very much apreciated!
    Thanks!
I know that bootcamp (disk0s4) hasn't been fully deleted since it appears in disk utility (i cant do anything to it though)
And here is the error i see when i try to launch bootcamp (back when i was actually able to boot up bootcamp to the error screen)

WinClone 3 is OS X and saves Windows image it makes for restore - that should work but you will have to try and you would need to make a new image unless it also works with a native Windows system restore image. It is now supported and has come a long way.
    http://www.twocanoes.com/
Paragon Clone OS works and does disk-to-disk clone just like CCC you end up with two bootable drives. But does not work with your setup. It would let you clone and move your Windows install to an SSD or another disk drive though and be bootable.
During its clone process it checks for errors which is very helpful and lets you know - something CCC and others should adopt more of.
    http://www.paragon-software.com/downloads/demo.html
I wish for our/my sake you had re-read and rewritten the long 'story' and broken it into a brief list of facts we needed.
    OS X
    Windows
Backup (though external is much safer) and you want bootable OS X clones as well as TimeMachine
    https://support.apple.com/kb/HT1427
    https://support.apple.com/kb/HT1553
There are a number of things to do like chkdsk and others as well as Windows DVD to do automatic system repairs and find out why.
AppleHFS - the abilty to mount and read HFS volumes can be notorious.
I would rearrange and redo your storage setup and how you use the 4-5 internal hard drive bays.

  • Boot failure following Windows 8.1 update. shows reason: irql_not_less_or_equal

    Hi,
I have the dreaded BSOD with irql_not_less_or_equal boot failure.
The PC was running Vista when bought, which was subsequently upgraded to Windows 8. This was done via an online purchase & download of the Windows 8 Upgrade, so I do not have any installation media. I have also updated (again online, so no physical media)
    to Windows 8.1
I have recently had to shut the PC down (it usually stays on all the time), but now it refuses to boot, going straight to the new style BSOD, showing 'irql_not_less_or_equal', which then restarts in to the system restore menu.
I have tried to remove some peripherals - removing the video card (now using the display adapter on the MoBo), a USB 3 card & a USB head-set dongle - which  has improved the situation a little - it now boots to the log-in page (sometimes), but will
BSOD after about 10 seconds, regardless of whether I am fast enough to log-in, or not.
I have tried (from the System Restore menu) to do a restore to a previous state, but it doesn't seem to be able to find the restore points.
Note, the BSOD occurs if I boot into 'Safe' Mode, or do a normal boot.
    The bottom line is:...
I can't boot to Safe Mode, get to any system maintenance tools, so I can't disable/uninstall any drivers.
Windows 8 & the 8.1 update were purchased online & downloaded, so no boot disk(s).
The recovery points I have made do not seem to be accessible.
Any advise on how to proceed?
    cheers
    Paul

now boots to the log-in page (sometimes), but will BSOD after about 10 seconds, regardless of whether I am fast enough to log-in, or not.
That should be enough time to get to the Shift-Restart option.   <eg>
Since you can see what you're doing you don't even have to do the backwards method that I was long proposing so that users who were trying to do this in the dark would be able to bypass their password field.   But maybe using a set of Backtab (Shift-Tab)
Shift-Space would be more efficient anyway?
Here is an example of an explanation of the technique:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/37eff8a6-74a3-4775-90d7-e0aa86c68424/windows-8-black-screen-at-boot?forum=w8itprogeneral#0dc40edd-4e3b-466b-b4af-37c532eb844a
    <quote>
In order to try to avoid hitting the Password field in this uncertain state I suggested using Backtab (e.g. Shift-Tab) to do the navigation. Fortunately, the pressing of Shift- would solve the problem of whether you were on the Lock screen or already on
the Login screen. So the iteration would be Shift-Tab, Shift-Space (Fortunately, the Restart item is at the bottom of the Shutdown menu.)

  • Boot Failure iMac G3 400MHz, goes on firmware mode :S

    Hello everyone,
I recently bought a second hand iMac G3, 400MHz processor and 128mb ram, 10gb harddrive. I've always wanted a Mac just for the fun of it, and i finally got it. I dont think this imac is dead, but i'm having trouble on boot. It is not booting the traditional way, it is going down to firmware boot.
    It gives this info:
    MacOS: Boot Failure! (0xF3C481F6)
Mac OS: parcel initialization failure - bad checksum
Then i have 2 choices from the firmware for booting or shutting down 1. mac-boot command and 2. shut-down command.
So, i give it the mac-boot command; in starts showing the mac face for a few seconds, then it displays this message below of it:
    /pci@f2000000/mac-io@17/ata-4@1f000/disk@0:5,\\:tbxi
after maybe a minute it finally displays the face and ? symbol; typical of not finding the system. Problem is that, even starting the imac with the system disc on it and pressing "c" at bootime, it still goes to the firmware thing...
Is there a way to tell the imac "hey dont boot at firmware, boot at cd!!" ??
Oh, by the way...during the "/pci@f2000000/mac-io@17/ata-4@1f000/disk@0:5,\\:tbxi" message I can still press the "alt" key and it shows me the retry arrow, the system harddrive labeled "Lorelai's comp", the system CD and the straight right arrow.... i try clicking on the harddrive and also on the CD icons to try to boot, but it only refreshes the screen changing from the traditional blue/purple background to a red-ish background and arrow/drive's buttons get funny colors...
i dont know what is going on....i dont think the imac is dead....i guess it has to do with that firmware booting default thing...
    please help....
    thanks in advance.

    Hi again Kenichi,
Question: I've done that procedure yesterday, but i pressed the button for only 1 second 1 TIME ....can i make the procedure again despite if i did it 1 time before? or doing it again will crash the iMac forever?
About the black screen i told you before, here's the thing...if i place a battery on it and reset the nvram via keyboard commands or firmware commands, at the restart then is when the imac goes on black....BUT if i remove the battery, leave it there for a minute or 2, and then power it on, it goes to the firmware state again, ofcourse with good video on it....i dont think it has a video problem...but i dont understand why when making the reset procedures with a battery on the iMac this black-non starting screen keeps going...
    Thanks in advance.

  • Disk Boot Failure, Insert System Disk and Press Enter

I have been experiencing an intermittent disk boot failure for the last few months on my HP Pavilion Slimline PC. At first, it would occur once every week or two, typically when the computer would boot up after being in hibernation. After turning off the computer and turning it back on, everything worked normally. Within the last month, the failure began occurring with more regularity.
This week, I started receiving the error every time the computer would boot from hibernation. I went into the BIOS and saw that the system was not recognizing the hard drive. I tried changing the boot priority to boot from the HDD first, but to no avail. Today, the system worked as usual until I performed a restart, and it has yet to work again. Additionally, the performance has taken a nose dive over the last week (slow processing, programs not responding, etc.).
    System Specs:
    HP Pavilion Slimline s3710t PC
250 GB SATA Western Digital HDD (Caviar Blue)
    Intel Pentium Dual-Core Processor
    Windows Vista Home Premium (32-bit)
    3GB DR2-800 MHz SDRAM
I have read through many technical forums, including HP’s, and followed all of the advice. I have again changed the boot priority to HDD first, restored the default settings, etc. The only drive I can find listed is the DVD drive on the unit, which is listed as the second drive. There is no first drive listed in the main tab of the BIOS CMOS Setup Utility.
I attempted to run a system recovery, but it is not even possible. Upon running the diagnostics, it of course mentions that there is no hard drive connected. Upon entering the boot menu, it also only lists the DVD drive.
My next course of action was to remove the side panel and reseat the connections on the hard drive, as well as the connection to the motherboard. This was also unsuccessful, and I have not been able to boot up the computer again today.
The computer itself is 1.5 years old and this is the original hard drive that shipped with it. I have never opened the computer, prior to today. The symptoms started a few months ago, just outside of the warranty period.
Based on the forums I have read, it all signs are pointing to a bad hard drive. This is hard for me to believe, as the computer is relatively new and does not get much use. The use it does get revolves around email and Internet access, as well as use of Microsoft Office.
As you can imagine, I am not happy about the prospect of having to buy a new hard drive, as well as pay for the data recovery on the original drive. I hope that someone at HP can come up with a better solution, as a 1-year life on a hard drive is pretty pathetic.
    Thanks,
    JR

    HI JR,
You situation does not sound good if the PC doesn't recognize your hard drive.
Boot into the bios and run some bios hardware diagnostics.
    Try clearing the CMOS.
    Try this procedure:
Unplug the PC and open it up. Clean out all the dust. Carefully remove and replace all the cables going to the motherboard one at a time. Do the same for the memory dimms and the video and sound cards if you have any.  You might want to buy a can of compressed air to blow the dust out of the CPU heat sink.  Plug your PC back in and give it a go.

  • Yoga 2 Pro: boot failure and touchscreen unresponsive

I've had my Yoga 2 for about a week and a half and for the most part I love it. First problem has been occasional (maybe 4-5 times) "Boot Failure", or something along those lines, on startup. Every time after restarting it it has worked fine. Also just earlier today I had a problem where the touchscreen went unresponsive for around 20 minutes before working fine again. I was in class so didn't do anything to try to fix it (taking notes so couldn't restart or anything), and it just starting working again by itself. Other than this, I have had no other problems. I have a few days left on my return/exchange with Best Buy, so wondering if these are problems that I should be seriously concerned about. Thanks.

If it were me, I would definitely exchange it. Boot failure may indicate some permanent failure about to happen, not to mention a flakey touch screen. Neither sounds like a software issue on a brand new computer.

  • Probook 450 G1 HDD strange noise

    Hello,
I've bought my probook 450 G1 less than a week ago and I've noticed that the HDD is producing annoying noise, similar to scrathing even when there is no extensive ative accessing of HDD from my side, and I believe an occasional clicking sound.
I am not sure, if this is normal for a 5 day old computer.
This is the sound it produces (plus the light scrathing sound): http://picosong.com/Ctpv/
Any help would be highly appreciated!

  • Boot failure: Digital signature not found

Just bought a Toshiba Satellite C885D-S5320 and it was working great.  Packed it up this morning, unpacked it a few seconds later and tried to turn it on.  Got a message that reads "Boot failure: a proper digital signature was not found. One of the files on the selected boot device was rejected by the Secure Boot feature."
I didn't make a recovery disk but tried to use the hidden recovery feature I'd found out here.  Worked great to abou 76%, then that message came up again.  Help???

I bought the same computer from Walmart for my daughter for Christmas. I have had to send it in three times to have the hard drive fixed as it showed the same error that you were getting. I was very mad as the first time I had to pay $25 to have them ship me the box to send it in to them. I also tried at first to return it back to Walmart but was told it was to late and I would have to go through Toshiba. I just received it back again today. They have had to replace the hard drive three times. This is ridiculous as I have had several other computers and laptops and have never had to have a hard drive replaced before. I told them I was not paying the last two times to send it in for repair as it should never of had to go to them the first time. The girl did send me the box free the last two times but honestly I think they should just give me a whole new computer as I think these ones are lemons! I cannot believe a brand new computer would need to have a hard drive replaced 3 times in 5 months! The girl advised me if it had to go back again they would probably finally do something. I sure hope your is working better then mine.
