HP ProBook 4510s Battery problem

I have HP ProBook 4510s notebook for some time. Yesterday I have reinstalled Windows 7 and during the update it was on battery power, about 50% remaining and it just went off. It is weak battery but it still holds for about an hour. Well not any more. I powered it up on AC charger and it seems like the battery isn't there and still I see message in taskbar that the battery is 54% charged end not charging. I ran HP support assistant battery chek and it shows that battery is weak but functioning correctly. If I unplug ac power adaptor it shuts down, I can't power it up on battery and yet it still shows that the battery is 54% charged. Does anyone have any idea about this problem? I have already tried removing Microsoft ACPI-Compliant and pretty much everything I could find and it's not workig. Updated BIOS whit the latest version on HP support and still nothing. Like I said, Battery is there, passing the test, 54% charged, and yet it's like there is no battery at all. Please help.

Hi Jacktrimi,
Where you able to run the Battery Test and Battery Calibration as I suggested above?  That is the best way to find out what the actual status of your battery is.  You can post the results back here if you would like.
It is hard to say how long any particular battery will last because it really depends on how it is used and what environmental conditions it is used in.  See Improving Battery Performance for details on how best to use your battery and get the longest possible life out of it.

  • HP ProBook 4510s Power Problem

I have a ProBook 4510s. This morning it was running on battery. Battery would not charge with AC Adapter plugged in. Just a battery icon with flashing red x. Once the battery depleted it would no longer boot. I took the battery out and held the power button for 30 secs and plugged only the power adapter back in. The computer still will not boot. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks!
Note: Where the AC Adapter plugs in to laptop there is a little light above it. With the battery plugged in that little light flashes orange 7 times after pushing the power button. With the battery out no light at all. Didnt know if this info was relevant. Just wanted to add it.

Sounds like the battery just stopped charging and the laptop receiving power from the adapter either because the charging circuit on the motherboard or the AC adapter is bad. The first thing is to test the AC adapter either by using a Multi-meter or trying another known good one. Post back if you need more help with this.

  • HP Probook 4510s Battery Replacement

    Hi All,
I have a HP probook laptop Model: 4510s. The laptop battery is dead. I need a replacement.
    Current Battey details:
    572032-001 SPS-BATT 6C 47WHr 2.2Ah LI ZZZ06047-CL (fetched the details from HP parts surfer)
The label at the back of battery says HSTNN-LB88
     I wanted to know if
    1) I can use a 8-cell battery instead of 6-cell battery?
    2) If my current charger will support 8-cell battery charging?
    3) If using a 8-cell battery (or any compatible battery but with different part number) will cause any problem to  hardware?
    Thanks,
    Shriram

    Hi,
You can use "572032-001" or "HSTNN-LB88" to search for battery of your machine, such as:
       http://www.batteriesshop.net.au/laptop-batteries/hp-572032-001-battery-p7712.html
Yes, you can use 8 or even 12 cells battery. This won't cause any drama for you machine except more weight. The charger will charge but it will take much longer for each full charge.
    Regards.

  • How do I best replace the battery latch in a HP Probook 4510s?

How do I best replace the battery latch in a HP Probook 4510s? After letting it fall, I had to replace the battery latches.

    Hi:
Please review the notebook tour guide at the link below. See page 9 for the bottom components illustration.
    http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c01849861.pdf
There is a battery release latch on the bottom of the notebook. When you remove the battery there should be a part number on it on a white tag.  The part number would be arranged 6 digits a dash, and 3 digits (123456-001).
Then you can input the part number at the HP parts store at the link below.  You may need to change the country location at the top. I have it set for the United States.

  • LED code meaning: 13 times (HP ProBook 4510s)

    Laptop: Hp ProBook 4510s
When I turn my laptop on, the blue light on the power on button lights for 6 seconds, meanwhile the led near the power plug on right side rapidly blinks 13 times. Always exactly 13 times, so it must be some kind of error code. Then laptop shuts down. Nothing is heard, neither fan, neither hard disk.
What is wrong? I am really in bad situation, I don't have any money and I need this computer. Feeling really bad. Thanks everyone for help!

    View Solution.

    Hi,
    The situation may be:
Blue Blink 13 times = Abnormality in the power supply voltage.
As it is very difficult to identify the defective part, replacement of the power unit is required.
My suggestion, try the following test
    Run on battery only,
Pull out the battery, run on main only
Borrow PSU/charger elsewhere to see any difference.
    Good luck,
    BH

  • HP Probook 4510S says "Plugged in Not Charging," little help from tech support

    Hi there,
I have a two year old HP Probook 4510S that has had a ton of problems. The most recent of which was an error message every time I turned on the computer saying "Batter is critically low" and it stopped charging and said that power was 0% (it continued to work though if it was plugged in and would die immediately if the plug was removed). I replaced the battery ($108), which took about a month to receive because HP apparently sent the store the battery that goes with the new model of Probook and said it would fit in the old model (it didn't and had to be sent back). When I finally got the new battery it worked for about a day and then I noticed that the message said "Plugged in, not charging" and when the charger isn't plugged in the battery seems to deplete rapidly. Now it's at 36% and not charging.
I spoke to someone today at tech support and she said because it's out of warranty they couldn't help me, but that I should "try a friend's charger" to diagnose the problem myself, as though everyone has the same charger. When I said I didn't have access to another laptop to try another charger she just repeated that I need to try it on a different charger to see if it's a problem with the battery or the charger. But that if it's the battery and I provide them with proof of purchase they could replace that. The battery is brand new and doing the same thing as the last battery, so I doubt this is the problem. I said that I had seen messages all over the internet discussing this problem and that no one seemed to have the answer and she said "Those are on the internet, we haven't substantiated those claims." I'm shocked that HP doesn't seem to care that they get a bad reputation for offering so little help if a product is out of warranty. Because of this experience I doubt I would purchase another product from them, and I would warn others against it too. I've had more computer problems with HP than any other brand of laptop I've had or any of my friends/family have had. In the meantime, has anyone else had this problem? From the forums I've read it seems that occasionally people find solutions, but none seem to be working for me. Any insight would be much appreciated.

I did a BIOS update on my ProBook 4530s and it took care of the problem

  • HP Probook 4510s shutsdown immediately after starting

    Hello,
I have this HP probook 4510s that isn't working anymore. It was working fine until recently when it stopped working at all. Each time I try to turn it on, the charging LED starts blinking rapidly and the fan starts for 2 seconds after which the computer shuts itself down. The processor light remains yellow for these 2 seconds for which the system is powered. Prior to this, my laptop used to do this the first time I would try to turn it on after shutting down but would work properly after that. Now that is not happening. Prior to this problem, my battery was showing "consider replacement" error, which I read on and figured out that there was some bios issues with windows 7 and HP probook and according to some instructions given on one of the forums, I changed the critical level of my battery meter to zero and used it that way for some time. the last time I was using my computer, the battery drained completely and I never tried charging my laptop until a day later after which this problem has started occurring.

    Hello, Multi_Mustafa
Not to sound like dell tech support (Pun intended), but did you remove the battery form the unit then try turning it on?

  • Portable problèmes batteries et chargeurs HP ProBook 4510s

    Bonjour,
Faux contact ? batterie morte ?

It could be the battery, or the power cord, are defective. If you know
