HP ProBook 4530s mouse touch pad

I have disabled mouse touch pad. Having restarted laptop I noticed that LED indicator for mouse touch pad was turned off and mouse pointer accepts finger moves/clicks on touch pad (it was enabled) until I logged on when LED turned on and mouse touch pad was disabled . Is this normal behaviour? The same is happening when laptop is powered on.

Hi BoxIKG,
Thank you for your inquiry,
Your Probook is a commercial unit.   I am sorry, but to get your issue more exposure, I would suggest posting it in the commercial forums, since this is a commercial product. You can do this at Commercial/Notebook - HP ProBook, EliteBook, Compaq, Slate/Tablet PC, Armada, LTE
I hope this helps.

  • Mouse touch pad will not toggle off

    HP G60 laptop, OS - Windows 7
My mouse touch pad will not turn off when the on/off button is toggled. This is a recent development. Is it possible that the button has been disabled, and if so, how can I reset it?

Hi. "This is a recent development". I'm quite unclear. Was this working previously?
Yes. Usually, I work with an external wireless mouse, so prefer to turn the touch pad off to disable it (and avoid any spurious effects caused by accidentally touching it). Since just yesterday, when I operate the on/off button, nothing happens. It's possibly a hardware problem, but I figured someone might know if it was a settings issue.

When requesting assistance, please provide the full HP model name and/or product number of the computer in question.
It is possible that the touch pad was accidentally turned off... please looking for a symbol on a "F" key tha look like the touch pad and press it. It is also possible that the touch pad on/off button is located elsewhere on the computer. Once we have the requested information, we will be better able to assist you.

  • Probook 450 G2 Touch Pad freezes Occasionally

Brand new Laptop. Touch pad will occasionally freeze but i can still click and scroll using the arrows on the keyboard. WIl start working again maybe after a couple of minutes. Any idea how to fix?? Running on windows 7 professional

I have exactly the same problem with an Aspire Switch SW5-171. Following the instructions of an Acer tech on chat, I refreshed the system (driver reinstallation) to no avail, and then I reinstalled Windows, which didn't work either. I submitted a repair request, but I only got a reply to contact Acer by phone. The freezes can usually be resolved by putting the system to sleep and disconnecting and reconnecting the table from the keyboard. Freezes happen more often, but not exclusively, when using browsers. If this were a driver issue, I would agree with your comments, and an updated driver might resolve it, but I suspect it's  a hardware issue with some kind of intermitent operation of the touchpad, because USB mice connected to the keyboard USB port work perfectly consistently all the time with my unit, and because the freezes can be resolved temporarily by the steps I mentioned above. Acer ought to test units for this issue and release an updated driver if it's stablished that interference with other software is the problem. Otherwise, the detachable touch pad/keyboard must be replaced under warranty.

  • Lenova Flex 2-14 Mouse Touch Pad Problem

I've just recently bought my son a Flex 2-14 which he thinks is great. However today the mouse pad stopped working which has put a downer on a new and smart laptop. As I'm a windows and laptop user myself, I've checked the driver, ensured that it's enabled, checked to ensure that it's the latest version, made sure that it's toggled on from a keyboard perspective. However it refuses to recognise any physical interaction. As the screen is touch sensitvie and the USB mouse is working fine we can get away with this. But really why is it not working? The only thing I can guess is that as you turn the screen and keyboard around to into touch screen mode the hardware recognises this and disables the mouse pad. It looks to me that it's now stuck in this mode which is really frustrating. It;s getting to the point that I might aswell take it back as it's not fit for purpose.
Any help would be very much appreciated as anything I try to do does not solve the problem?

    Hi, ghstahl
I would try uninstalling the current driver by going to Device Manager and opening up Mice and other pointing devices. Next, right-click on the device and select Properties. A window should appear. Navigate to the Driver tab and select Uninstall... from the bottom. Once this driver is uninstalled, go here and download the latest driver. This driver is the base Synaptics driver. Synaptics is the company that develops the UltraNav software that is currently on your machine, most likely. This driver has helped users before having TouchPad issues, so it may be able to do the same for you.
    Hope it helps,
    Adam

    Hi @abdallah2020
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I understand that you are having trouble with the drivers for your notebook. Where did you find them online?
The supported and HP customized drivers for your notebook are only available for windows 7. Please see the following:
HP Pavilion dv6-6176ex Entertainment Notebook PC Drivers
For any drivers you find elsewhere for windows 8, there is no guarantee that it would work. Although it is certainly possible. Most notebook manufacturers do customize the drivers for the set of hardware in a unit. You can check out the following for suggestions and the reasons some drivers are not made.
What if I Don't See My Operating System?
If you wish to try the windows 7 installation, then the drivers are at the page I included.

  • Awkward touch-pad on notebook

I have an HP Pavilion DV7 notebook with the touch-pad mouse and integrated buttons. From what I can see, the buttons are integrated within the touch-sensitive area of the touch pad, so when I position the mouse to where I want it and place my finger on the left touch-pad button, the on-screen cursor moves away from where I placed it. I have to be very careful how I press the left or right touch-pad mouse buttons so that the on-screen cursor does not move which is VERY annoying.
Is there anyway to change this behaviour so that the mouse/touch-pad buttons are NOT considered part of the tracking mechanism? Thanks.

    Any suggestions......???

By hanging do you mean it just gets very slow to respond? This only happens when you plug in the charger? I would make sure all your drivers are up to date. Do this happen when the computer is running off battery?
    Thanks

  • My HP ProBook S-series laptop touch pad mouse does not respond to me

My touch pad responds to my tech guy, to my friends, but not to me!  It's like my fingers don't work on it, regardless of the pressure I use or the part of the pad I touch.  Other than getting a new set of fingers - which in itself is problematic - what can I do about this? Has anyone else had this problem?  It's brand new & this was a problem from the get-go.   I had an old Dell latitude D600 & it worked fine for me.
    Please help!

Well changing fingers is no easy task so I think we better find another solution. Have you tried other fingers? Also make sure the touchpad has not been locked by firmly tapping the top left section of the pad. This is how you can quickly enable or disable the touchpad.

  • Equium A200-1VO - touch pad doesn't work but external mouse does

I had a problem with my hard drive not working this just happened over night so I replaced the hard drive no problem and rebooted the system.
All is ok but the touch pad will not work.
I have tried FN+F9 this is ok I have updated the touch pad program still not working.
    Please HELP!!!

To determine if its an hardware issue or a software issue do the following...
    1) go into bios (f2) and set it to default settings and save
    2) insert toshiba recovery cd and wait till the menu appears
You should be able to move the mouse inside the recovery GUI, if it doesnt move then try holding function and f9 again.
If this still doesnt work then your touchpad could be faulty.
*Note* dont start the wizard to recover vista because it will overwrite your data, just cancel this if the touchpad works under this.
If not just turn your laptop off and remove the recovery disk.

  • Apple Smart Mouse vs Touch Pad for Aperture, etc.

I switched to an iMac a few years back and really love it. My only "complaint" is that the Smart Mouse (which I really love the functionality of) is a bit too small and no one has deemed it necessary to make a larger one. Every time I go into the Apple Store hoping for a larger version, it is suggested I try the Touch Pad.
So the question is - for those who use the Apple Touch Pad for applications like Aperture, Photoshop/Pixelmator, Nik Software, etc. - how is the control using the Touch Pad vs a mouse? I know that it is fine for "normal" - meaning non-Photographic applications - and I can use all the gestures that I would miss with a normal mouse. (Before you suggest it I have a Wacom tablet, but generally for quick touch ups I just don't bother taking it off the closet shelf.)
    Thanks, Steve

Hi Steve -- I imagine this is as much a matter of personal preference (and skill) as actual performance.  IME, the Magic Mouse is just about the worst pointer to use with Aperture.  The Apple touch-pads are (again, just my opinion) excellent.  I don't hesitate to recommend that you try one out.  There are some touch-pad techniques that may not be obvious: roll your fingertip for minute changes; use one index finger to click, and the other to drag; etc.
I also recommend any high-resolution mouse (generally sold as a "gaming mouse").  I used a Razer Naga until it wasn't updated to work with 10.8;  I switched to Logitech's G600 12-button mouse.  The programmable buttons accelerate my work, but (imho) high-resolution is the feature you really want.  I have my entire dual-monitor workspace mapped to an area about 2" x 4", and can move the mouse curser very close to pixel by pixel.
Both the high-res mouse and the touch-pad are _more_ precise than the Wacom Intuos Medium.  In my hands, the cursor regularly moves a pixel or three when I lift the pen.  With the touch-pad or the high-res mouse I can work at Image resolutions smaller than 100%.  With the Intuos, I am better off at 100%.

  • Touch pad and mouse

My Microsoft wireless mouse and my laptop touch pad are not working properly.  Example:  when I click a link in an email, I normally would left click & the link would open.  Now, with both devices, I must right click the link & choose the open command, which isn't that big of a deal but some links won't open with any kind of click.   It would correct itself if I did a system restore, but restore doesn't work anymore because my computer had a vius.  I have uninstalled & reinstalled, drives are up to date.  I have checked the settings for both, normal right hand set up.  Am I missing something?  Any help would be greatly apprecciated.
    Thanks,
    Kate

    Hi @surlygirlie,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
It is an awesome  place to find answers and information!
For you to have the best experience in the HP forum I would like to direct your attention to the HP Forums Guide Learn How to Post and More
I grasp that you mouse and TouchPad are not functioning correctly as you have no left click on either.  You have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers and checking the settings but no change.
You did state you are unable to do a recovery as you had a virus and is no longer available.
I would check again for  viruses and  malware just to be sure.
    Microsoft Malicious Software Removal Tool.
Although this is not a recommendation  many people have used Malwarebytes for removal of unwanted software  with much success.
Windows 8 has a new option which does reinstall your Windows and should leave your personal information.
HP PCs - Refresh Your PC to Resolve Problems (Windows 8)
Before doing a refresh, I suggest you do a backup just to be on the safe side.
If the issue remains, I would do a recovery back to factory.

If you did not previously backup your data, you will notice an opportunity to do just that during the backup.

  • Mouse and touch pad not responding/working?

the entire touch pad doesnt work when using the computer. also when a mouse is plugged in that doesnt work either!...... but both work fine when in the lenovo help section, (when pressing the lenovo help button) they only dont work from the login section and when logged in.
    HELP!!!

I am facing similar problem. However it is little different. My touch pad stopped working just within 3 months after buying this product. Now the problem is no body is taking responsibility of this kind of problems customers are facing. Here the real problem is my blue light at the touch pad has also stopped working.
I believe it means, it must have some hardware problem. Now it is almost more than 8 months to this product and am still struggling with this problem. The only good part of it is, here my usb mouse is still working.
One more thing i would like to know here, how can i find lenovo help key you mentioned in your querry? Please guide someone to get rid of this problem.
