HP ProBook 4540s USB 3.0 Driver

Good evening! I am having an issue with my USB 3.0 drivers for my HP ProBook 4540s. I had done my own research on the problem and came across another forum post (http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Hardware-Upgrades-Replacements/ProBook-4540s-USB-3-0-drivers/td-p/32518... and had tried to install that driver. I have tried the driver in the past as I believe it to be the problem that I am having and it comes up with, "This computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing the software." everytime i try to install. The issue that i am having is that no device I put in my 3.0 ports is recognized by windows and it does not display them under Computer. Have tried keyboard and mouse in the ports as well with nothing but power. Any suggestions will help. I KNOW I need to replace my motherboard but that is for a battery problem that HP gave me the runaround with until my warranty expired and now is refusing to help. (I have been working with HP to resolve my motherboard issue for over a year now and am STILL getting the runaround from everyone I talk to) PLEASE HELP with USB.

Thanks for the reply so fast! I am getting the same error when trying to install. I will attach screenshots.

  • HP ProBook 4530s USB 3.0 driver failure

    Hi,
I have a ProBook 4530s (pn:A1D18EA#AKC) with Win7 x64 English version. There is a renesas USB 3.0 Host controller built in.
When I install the device driver it works correctly but when I close the lid of laptop and turn it back the HW stops working and the "This device cannot start. (Code 10)" error appears in device status under device manager. When I uninstall the driver, reinstall, reboot then it works until the first sleep. Hibernating turned off. I tried many drivers without success.
If i disable the device under device manager and re-enable it it solves the problem but it is not normal. It is seriously annoying me.
At this time the driver information is this:
    Renesas Electronics
    2011.10.25.
    2.1.28.0
    Microsoft Windows Hardware Compatibility Publisher
There is a Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter in device manager without driver.
It displays a "This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31)" message. What is this hardware and where can I found a driver?
    Thanks

Here are the device manager after powerup from sleep or from shutdown:

  • Probook 4540s Driver not found in HP website!!

Hi, I am using HP Probook 4540s laptop. I use both Windows 7 32 bit and 64 bit OS. I downloaded all the necessary drivers for my laptop couple of months ago from HP support website. Recently I accidently deleted some files from my hard drive including those drivers and after a new OS install, I needed them drivers again. So I went to the same site where I previously downloaded my drivers but strang, most of them are missing now. No drivers for Windows 7 pro 64 bit or 32 bit for audio, video or pretty much everything else. It seems HP support is having fun with us!! Here is the exact link where all drivers used to be:http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/readIndex?sp4ts.oid=5229456&swLangOid=8&swEnvOid=4059 Now there is nothing useful. Come on HP, I hope you had enough fun, now give me a link from where I can get recent drivers for HP Probook 4540s Windows 7 pro 32 and 64 bit. Thanks for wasting my time searching things that should be found easily.

HP is doing some server migration, so things may be a little wonky until they are done.

  • HP Probook 4540s: Fingerprint Scanner Not Working

    Hi,
Problem: Fingerprint Scanner - Windows log in does not give option to log in via fingerprint scanner.
Overview: After installing fingerprint drivers from the HP site and using the HP Protect Tools to successfully enroll fingerprint, I tried logging in via this method but the windows log in screen does not display this option. Device manager correctly identifies and shows the fingerprint sensor - however, the control panel says no biometric devices detected.
I really need help in sorting out this issue. Details of what steps I took trying to make the scanner work are given below.
    Specs:
    1) Probook 4540s
    2) Windows 7 64-bit
    3) i5-3210m, 1Gb Hd 7650m, 4 Gb 1333Mhz, 750Gb 5400rpm, VFS 491 Fingerprint scanner.
Details of the problem and steps I took to install drivers:
After a fresh installation of Windows 7, I went to the HP driver site to download the latest drivers for Probook 4540s:
    http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareIndex.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodNameId=5229457&...
I installed the drivers in roughly this order:
    1)realtek ethernet controller drivers,
    2)audio drivers,
    3) the chipset and USB 3.0 drivers (but not the Intel MEI driver)
    4) Intel video driver: faced an issue such that drivers were not being allowed to install. After disabling switchable graphics in the bios, I was able to get these drivers to install.
    5) AMD video drivers: installed after the intel HD graphics driver - installed but Catalyst Control Center was not being displayed. So I re-enabled switchable graphics in BIOS, re-installed these drivers and CCC was now available.
    6) HP hotkey support
    7) HP universal camera driver
    8) Validity Fingerprint sensor
    9) Synaptics Touchpad driver
    10) Atheros wifi & bluetooth
    11) Jmicron card reader
After driver installation, I installed the HP Protect Tools. After prompting for a PC reboot - which I did - it asked for setup of security etc.. Part of this pocess was the enrolling of my fingerprints - successful. However, upon log off/ restart of windows, an option to log in with the fingerprint scanner did not appear in the Windows log in screen.
I opened the Control Panel, and found there was no biometric devices tab, even though device manager showed biometric device and validity sensor (VFS 491). I then proceeded to uninstall HP protect tools and the validity driver for the fingerprint sensor, then made sure these services were running:
    -Credential Manager
    -Remote Procedure Call (RPC)
    -DCOM Server Process Launcher
    -RPC Endpoint Mapper
    -Windows Biometric Service
    -Plug and Play
Then as suggested in another forum post, I first installed this :http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp55001-55500/sp55109.exe and then the validity drivers from 4540s drivers page, and then HP Protect Tools.
After reboot HP Protect Tools as before would enroll my fingerprints, but again no prompt at windows login came to log in with fingerprint. However, one change after the installtion of http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp55001-55500/sp55109.exe was that in control panel there is now a tab for biometric devices; however, it says that windows did not find any biometric devices installed. An image is attached showing both the device manager and the control panel!
Please HP provide a solution. Thanks!
    This question was solved.

Ok problem solved. I dont know whether it is related to the installation of HP windows 7 Essential System Updates and Intel MEI driver or not - but I did install these.
What really worked without doubt was this - > install both the fingerprint drivers and then the HP Protect Tools. Once rebooted, open HP Protect tools, then go to administration in the bottom right corner -> Administrative Console ->Increase System security -> tick windows login security and your done. Now you will be able to log in via enrolled fingerprints.

  • SSD for Probook 4540s

do probook 4540s with windows 7 ultimate 64-bit support SSD storage, and if it support, will it replace my HDD or my optical drive ?

    Hi,
Normally we replace the HDD with SSD, you can use the ODD but you need more hardware for it. Replacing HDD with a SDD is very simple interms of hardware but recover software may take a bit longer. The following shows how in general which can apply to many other machines.

  • HP ProBook 4540s slow to boot up, all programs run slow, long delay, show non-responding messages

    Hello,
I have a HP ProBook 4540s  running windows 7  (desktop shows:  Test Mode  Windows 7 build 7601)
    The HDD is a Toshiba mk5061gsyn 500gb
For the last month or so the computer has been running very slow.  The computer has always booted/start windows a bit slowly.    Now it takes about 3-5minutes to get to the welcome screen then it takes a couple of minutes to load windows. Soluto shows all the programs that are being loaded on startup.  (I never messed with this).  I've run several antivirus programs and the system is clean.   Back in June I had the same problem but there was malware found, not this time.
I ran speccy and it shows "warning" under the S.M.A.R.T  section.    I used the HP system tools and ran the HDD test and no errors were found.    When I tried using the HDD test from Toshiba and I couldn't run the scan test, it only showed the model name and serial #.
I'm not sure what to do next?
Thanks for your help in advance!

    Hi:
    It should.
It will just be thinner than a 9.5mm drive, but the caddy should work and the screw holes in the caddy should line up with the screw holes in the drive.

  • HP Probook 4540s Moving horizontal lines

I haven't had this lovely laptop for more than a year and I have only one issue with it. Whenever I am in something that is full screen and I ALT+TAB out of it, these lines appear. They are horizontal and move up and down, distorting the screen for about 30 seconds, making it nearly impossible to see anything in the background. I tried installing the new graphics drivers and BIOS driver, but I cannot think of anything more myself.

    Hello FireVolf.
To get your issue more exposure I would suggest posting it in the commercial forums since the HP Probook 4540s is a commercial product. You can do this at: Notebook - HP ProBook, EliteBook, Compaq, Slate/Tablet PC, Armada, LTE
The support page for your product may be helpful in the meantime: HP ProBook 4540s Notebook PC Support

Had you considered rolling back the touchpad software to an earlier version to see if it improves the tluchpad's reliability?

  • HP Probook 4540s can get backlit keyboard?

    Hello all,
I have an HP Probook 4540s, i7, 2nd generation laptop. A backlit keyboard wasn't something I was considering when I bought the laptop, but now, after use, I find myself wishing that there was back light for the keyboard.
My question is whether I can have a backlit keyboard installed into my laptop (ie. replace the keyboard maybe?). If so, what are the steps I must take to do so?

    Hi,
Normally the keyboard alone won't do anything good. You need to replace the mother board/system board too because you need somewhere to plug cables for all the lights. Some people suggested using internal USB power source and this could be a very, very, very costly exercise.
    Hope this makes sense.

There is any way to increase it or something?? Also how is it possible that I could play Watch Dogs which requires 1gb video ram while I have only 32mb !!

    Hi:
Your specific 4540s product number H6D81ES only has the onboard Intel graphics adapter.  It does not have the AMD/Intel switchable grahpics according to this spec sheet I found online.
