HP Probook 6545b Bios Problem

I flashed my bios on HP Probook 6545b with the newest bios version which i found on HP support download page for this model. I successfully finished flashing procedure but my laptop is now dead. Battery led is permanently blue with orange flash on every second. Does anybody knows if it is possible to do some low level bios recovery !?

If it's completey dead, you need a BIOS hardware specialist, try contacting AQSTECH.com I had a failed DV6000 BIOS as well. Much cheaper than a replacement motherboard.

  • Unable to flash BIOS Probook 6545b; program didn't finish

On a Probook 6545b, I get a error: "A program run as part of setup did not finish....." I even tried running the file within the USB drive (partitioned to FAT32) and I get the same error. I do have NF V2 installed. I do get the error about not finding a "HP_TOOLS" partition even though there is one (the USB drive itself). I also tried running it from another PC, but I get the same error messages. Whats' up?

As usual, the instructions are incomplete. Who writes this stuff? Telling me to follow the on screen directions. Thats' a big help............. Other than NetFramework V2, what else is needed as it seems something is? I NO other of HP's bloated software installed. This is on a fresh non HP XP Pro w/sp3 install.

There are no master password generators for ProBooks or EliteBooks and most business class laptops.
If you can boot and still access a Windows OS try this first.

If you find it to be too technical then.

Ok, from you're answer I understand that  flashing the GPU with a compatible vBIOS is either not a solution for the problem,
yes don't think that can help for this case
and also will be high risky to brick your card
and even if its not bricked[survive flashing] don't think that can change anything
eventually you can try flashing your system notebook BIOS to the latest version for your notebook,
to check if that can helps by chance.
For it you have to ask your notebook vendor [power notebooks]
to provide you with the latest BIOS for your NB
rather than this don't think any modded stuffs can help with this.

  • MSI GT70 (0NE-452) Refuses to Boot/random shut downs - BIOS problem?

    Hello,
I recently purchased a MSI GT70 0NE-452 laptop from Xotic PC. It came with Windows 8, but since Windows 8 broke most of Adobe Premiere, Vegas, and After Effects, I wiped the RAID0 SSDs and installed Windows 7. I've reinstalled all the drivers and have been comfortably setup for about a week or 2. Unfortunately now, the laptop has been behaving strangely.
    1) Random shutdowns, regardless of whether I'm connected to power or not. And I know it isn't because the battery died. (This might be fixed now since I downloaded another driver for the CPU Thermal  Control)
    2) Laptop won't turn on first-try. I press the power button and the power button flashes orange but nothing happens. It will only turn on once I've removed the battery and put it back in.
I have a feeling this could be a BIOS problem, and possibly attributable to the Windows 7 reformat, but I'm not sure. My BIOS is currently: American Megatrends Inc E1762MS.50U, 11/23/12.
The MSI website for my model has a Bios update:
    Release Date: 2012-12-14
Description: Fix HDMI/DP hot plug no function after S3 resume
    Non-Win8
    E1762IMS.30R
Can someone please advise? Should I try my hand at flashing the BIOS with this update and hope it solves the problem, or should I just call MSI and get it fixed by them?
Any help is much appreciated, thank you very much!

I'll take your advice but can you clarify a bit? Is it something beyond a BIOS repair?

  • Bios problem

bios problem on msi k8t neo via chipset..
my pc was perfectly working , but this morning after when i booted if findid i surprise..
my pc didn't started: "boot failure..."
from the bios is disappeard the first hd....
the bios recognize the slave hard drive and the one set on the 3° ide raid channel.
the firs hard disk and the two dvd device set into the second ide channel are not recognize and into the standard cmos features are set "not installed"
clear the bios wwith the jumper on the mainboard didn't solved the problem...
if you kou what is happend...
(i don't think that it's an hard disk problem...)

Disk was a Win2K NTFS Dynamic disk, so I extracted all the data onto the other disk in another computer, vaped the partition and turned it back to "Basic" style disk (I think this removes MS's extensions to the partition table) before unplugging.  Then put it in the AMD64 box, created partition & formatted to Ext3 with Linux tools, so I think there's nothing wrong there.
The jumpers & cable are as you recommend - originally the master was in the middle of the cable, but I'd already swapped it last night in an effort to see if the cable connector was at fault.  It's just the intermittant failure (about every other cold boot or so) which pisses me off (reminds me of all those random memory failures, before I limited to DDR333).  As I said above, I'll replace the cable when I turn off tonight & see what that does.

  • MS-7235 Virtualization BIOS problem

I'm running Ubuntu Linux and am unable to run virtual XP because of a BIOS problem. Currently, I have the original BIOS which was Phoenix 1.1. Does anyone know if I update the BIOS if they resolved this issue?

    Thanks for the reply.
I think it is a BIOS problem because installing a virtual XP machine within Ubuntu results in an error stating that the BIOS is not fully ACPI compliant. I thought that since I have the original BIOS installed that updating it to the current one might resolve the error. This computer should support virtualization.
Also, it is a little tough to determine the exact BIOS to update with at MSI. A number of motherboards come up when I search for MS-725. None of them have Phoenix BIOS

  • G580 (20150) Running slow, Bios problem

    Hello
I got a little problem with my lenovo g580.
Not a long time ago i downloaded the bios update from the site and I did everything right but after my laptop restarted I got the message that said that I have to put in the disk of some sort so I checked on the internet if there is something I could do about that. I went to bios and changed the boot option to Legacy BIOS boot mode but after that everything worked fine but after that I noticed performance decrease on the laptop (Longer boot and longer wait time to open programs for about 1st few minutes after the boot).
I would like to use Lenovo recovery program to recover system setting to the factory setting but IM scared to do that cause of the bios problem I had.
I would really like someone to help me with this problem.
    Best Regards

    Hi SloAki,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
I’m sorry to hear that the computer is not performing as expected, I suggest you to perform the below steps provided to increase the performance of the computer then perform OKR (One Key Recovery) if required if the issue persists even after performing the troubleshooting steps.
    Optimize Windows for better performance
Click here to download User Guide and perform OSRI (Operating System Re-Install) using OKR (One Key Recovery) by clicking on NOVO button provided in the computer, to perform OSRI and refer page no. 2 to locate the NOVO button and page no. 34 for the steps to perform OKR.
NOTE: Please backup the data in the computer before performing OSRI, as the data will be completely erased.
    Hope this helps!!!
Do post us back for further queries.
    Best Regards

  • [VIA] MSI KT880 Delta-FSR Bios problem

    Hi!
I have MSI KT880 Delta-FSR motherboard. My problem is that about every second time when i start my pc BIOS settings will be factory settings.I have to go to bios and change every settings again away.

I have 120mm fan with my cooler.Temperature of the prosessor is about 44-47 celcius.Cooler is over one year old.
I have 2*512M PC 3200 memory. They are not same brand/make.In start i have one memory stick, 512M/Kingston and the problem was same.
All the answers are good what you are writing but i dont understand how those have an effect my BIOS problem ??Sometimes when i start my pc memory clock fz is 266 and its should be 400.I have to go bios the change it and like i write earlier put the onboard lan and ac97 enable.
I close pc this morning when i goto school. When i come afternoon home and turn my pc on i have this message:
    "Scan devises,please wait...."
Hardware initiate failed, please check device. The bios does not be installed!Press(g) to continue.
Reboot and select proper boot device. When i do that there is only my cd-rom device.I cant choose HDD drive at all.
I shut down the pc and take another computer ( i have 5) bios battery and the pc start at once. Now i have tho follow can the problem be a consequence of that.

  • Need help, i'm suspecting its a BIOS problem

I dunno whether i should consider this a BIOS problem or something. But I hope someone could help me find the fault.
    Okay, here goes:
When i first turned on my computer, i had this strange BIOS error (I could not remember sorry), then my PC rebooted as usual, but after the Windows XP loading screen, a black screen and a cursor appears, and the PC hangs. I rebooted the PC and my monitor could not receive a signal from the CPU. I tried using my old analog display cable, but it did not work. I then tried plugging the monitor to my laptop. It worked. Then I tried replacing my Radeon 9600XT with my old Geforce 2 MX, but again, it did not work. I checked the inside of the PC and all of the fans (the mobo and the graphic card ) were working.(This was before i plugged in the Geforce2 MX card). I also tried resetting the bios, but it did not work.
    Here's my specs
    P4C 3.0GHZ
    MSI Neo2-S 865PE
    2x 256mb Kingston HyperX
    Sapphire ATI Radeon 9600XT
    120GB Maxtor SATA HDD
    30GB Maxtor IDE HDD
    Creative Audigy 2 ZS
    Iomega CD-R
    one DVD drive
    Eizo 15" LCD monitor
I'm totally clueless.. any help would be greatly appreciated

What s y a running? Anything like style xp?
I've had a prob with the thing after I installed it and combined it with
    TweakXP pro4 & SP2 .
I then owned a Fujitsu-Siemens TFT and when I switched it to auto mode,
it sometimes was fixed. Check if there is an auto-function on your CRT.
Problem is, according to me, something with the Kernel.
Should try booting it with the orginal boot.ini.
    But just to be sure:
Enter the bios, load optimized bios. Could check to be sure if the
aparture size of the AGP is set to the amount of mem available
on the GraphCard and check if the sequence AGP/PCI is there.
During boot, F7 see whats available for OS and take the orignal boot file.
Could try in the boot.ini to delete the /kernel at the end of the sentence.
Dunno if it's gonna help you but it helped me.

  • Power of the Press - MSI Neo4 SLI Bios Problem

For those interested, I just sent this to hardocp because they did the review on the MSI SLI Platinum.  Since MSI headlines this review on their website, maybe hardocp can do something about this bios problem.  Enjoy and please send more emails to hardocp so we can get this problem addressed!  Believe me, Ive seen this works with washington politicians, I know it can work if we all do it.
I appreciate companies like yours doing extensive reviews about products.  However, your review caused me and a whole bunch of others to purchase this board with enormous problems associated with it (check out the msi forums).  The problem is that this board works only for 130nm chips in which you tested on.  On the newer amd 90nm chips, this board is the worst performing sli board out in the marketplace (for both winni and venice core chips).  You need to do something to stop people from buying this board because its just awful and the folks from MSI are silent on the subject.
It's gotten so bad that people have gone out and purchased other sli boards, transferred all of the equipment out of it and into the new one and guess what...voila, no problems.  Anyway, some of those in the other user forums had the same problem but those other manufacturers quickly fixed the problem.  Its just getting worse and worse.  I feel like both msi (and I am MAD) and reviewers like you (unless you don't know about the problem) are silent on this and its cost me hard earned MONEY ($175 for the mobo) and hours and hours of time...
You have a LOT OF POWER with MSI and I can see it because they headline your review on their website (power of the press).   For Gods sake, please do something before others make the same mistake or if you can get MSI to allocate resources to fix the problem...you would be HEROs!  Thank you.

Ok, I guess I am confused some, where is the issue with the new cores? I have no issues running the San Diego core and the my memory at the listed and published speeds.....
    Quote
Also is your MOBO the SLI type? I run the SLI Neo4 with a San Diego core without any issues. In fact I dropped it in and booted using the San Diego as a direct replacement for a older (if 6 months is old!!) 3500. I have OC'ed with Corecetner as far as I can push it and runs awesome!
    Quote
GUys, I am not sure exactly what issues you are experiencing as there can be MANY factors! But my SLI Neo is running awesome! It overclocks (no Tiresmoke, i won't go into that in this forum  ) and has NEVER once BSOD, or rebooted or even crashed! Not once and I push the crap out of this as it is my gaming box.  Also TS you are SO correct on the clock settings on the ultras, you gotts make sure they are the same or it will cause issues. The only thing I am kinda bummed about is the lack of real performance with the dual 6800 Ultra's, but that is a Nvidia issue not MSI. Guys I may be blessed, but I have run three Neo MSI brds, 2 939 and 1 754 and never had any issues....
    Quote
I have yet to experience any boot/reboot issues...So I think we should wait to hear more from this person before we assume anything...

I have the nForce4 SLI brd and i run a new San Diego..it booted up fine and zero problems. But man is this thing FAST
    Quote
According to MSI, the Neo4 will work fine with the new cores, the Neo2 will need a bios upgrade
    Quote
I set my brd up the first time for SLI with dual cards and have never had any issues..Sorry guys, but I guess it's the luck of the draw, but I have yet to ever ave an issue with any MSI brds..I have a Neo2,Neo4 and the older 754 slot Neo..no issues.
7 of your last 11 posts. Why man? Why?
This is from MSI at the "listed and published speeds"
    Dear Customer,
Since the mb has not been certified to support the Venice and San Diego Core processors, please wait until beginning of June, 2005 for the release bios support for the mb.

Look, I have already been threatened to be banned because of my sarcastic replies to you.  Read every one of your responses I listed.  Obviously OTHERS are having problems.  WHY don't you help them instead of TAUNTING people that yours works.  They are upset, and you make them feel dumb like it's their fault.
Man I have tried to contribute so much to this issue that at least 20 different members here are having, I have tested with an Asus SLI board, I have tried different BIOS's and posted results, I have theorized with others and I feel like you are slapping me in the face by restating time and time again "what problem mine works great"i
I'm on a verbal warning because I didn't have respect for you.  Well how are you respecting the other people who have problems by saying you don't know what their issue is.  Read up on it or help them, instead of creating tension. Please?

  • Fixed my MB BIOS problem Today Z68 GD65 G3

Flashed the newest official BIOS from the MSI WEB site and then I had a problem.
The problem was that my Spread Spectrum was unable to be switched to unable in the BIOS.  Worked fine before flashing BIOS.
Problem first happened after using M-Flash method.  Then I flashed it using the Live 5 update method and the problem was still there.  Tried a few different Official and Beta BIOS flavors and the problem remained.
After trying the official MSI BIOS flashing methods and having problems I then used the bullet proof MSI HQ Forum USB flasher.... Didn't work.
With each flash I disabled security on the dual BIOS flash and flashed both BIOS chips.  I also tried a BOOT from BIOS on different BIOS flavors.
Nothing seemed to work to fix my BIOS problem.
Then like a lighting bolt in the night I saw the light!!
I fixed my problem by returning the the MB to the store for exchange.
    Problem solved.

Well we all know this BIOS is a work in progress and for whatever reasons my BIOS is still buggy.  I'm going on my 2nd month of problems trying to get the BIOS to work right.
For the last week I have been trying to get this MB to over clock with auto voltage while maintaining the power efficiency features and increasing the Turbo Boost limits.
With the new MB and new fresh official BIOS my MB still doesn't allow for this feature to work.  I even took my 2500k back to the store to exchange because I thought it may be the CPU.
Great thread to read about setting this configuration up.

  • GTX 660M black screen after installing driver, maybe a BIOS problem

    Hello,
I own a custom PowerPro 11-36 laptop based on a MS-16F23 platform. A few months ago my graphics card died. (A GTX 560M)
I could not afford to buy a new laptop or new graphics card so I replaced it with a second hand GTX 670M 3 GB. It worked fine at first, but after a month this card also died.
About a week ago I received an used GTX 660M from an acquaintance.
I installed it with the new heatsink, started Windows and everything looked OK. Then I installed the Nvidia drivers and after reboot, right after the loading screen, I got a black screen (with the screen still lit).
I went into Safe mode and uninstalled the driver. Then installed again and got the same result. Went into Bios, change settings, tried resetting CMOS, nothing worked. I installed Windows 7 Ultimate again, then Windows 8, same thing. I also tried modding the drivers, still nothing.
I finally connected the laptop to an external monitor and it worked with the Nvidia driver installed. The laptop screen work perfectly without the driver.
Somebody form the Nvidia forum told me that this might be a BIOS problem, so I came here for help. Updating the BIOS is the only thing I haven't tried.
I looked for a fix for this for days now, if anyone can help, I would really appreciate it.
    Thank you,
    Fox

OK, thanks to runningman and to the great people at Power Notebooks I got to the point I am now. I have a MS-16F2-ID1 platform, with this BIOS:
    BIOS Version: E16F2IMT.300
    BIOS Build: 05/31/2011
    EC Version 16F2EG61 Ver4.22
    EC Build 04/21/2011
and a Dell (Alienware) GTX 660M video card with original VBIOS that are currently not fully compatible with each other.
By looking around I have found:
    - the VBIOS for the Dell GTX 660M at  http://www.techpowerup.com/
    - a more recent BIOS for my PowerPro R 11:36-560 MSI 937-16F231-004 on the MSI website.
    - that the MSI GE60 0ND laptop used to come with the GTX 660M GPU and I have also found a BIOS for this on the MSI website.
I have tried modding the Nvidia driver again, following the indications in the link provided by runningman, but unfortunately it did not solved the problem.
I understand that for this to work, I have to either find, create, or find somebody that can make a modified vbios for the Dell GTX 660M GPU that will make it compatible with my laptop. Or, I could change the BIOS of my laptop in such a way that it would ID the 660M Dell MXM.
This is were I am right now and I have no idea were to go next. As before, any kind of help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanx,
    Fox
