HP Probook 6560b. HDD replacing

Hi.
I have HP Probook 6560b with HDD WD Black 500Gb. Notebook works perfectly. But I want replace existing HDD with new WD Blue 1Tb 16Mb to get more space. When i have replace HDD then i have get error "Disk Not Installed" in BIOS or  3F0 , when pc starting.
I have complete:
1. update BIOS from version F01 to F42
2. "Reseat" hdd more time
3. made hard  reset
4. Load defaults of security and  BIOS
The result is the same - disk not installed.
If i return back original hdd, then all working fine without any action (turn on only).
What I must to do to BIOS can "see" new HDD ? Thank a lot in advance.
P.S. new HDD is working

  • Probook 6560b does not recognize my SSD

hi, i recently purchased a hp probook 6560b and wanted to give it an upgrade by replacing the standard 500gb 7200rpm hdd with a 120gb force gt ssd. but the notebook doesn't recognize the ssd at all, it says no drive is installed. the notebook has the latest bios available and the ssd has the most recent firmware. i know the ssd isn't defective because it works just fine in my desktop pc. hopefully one of you guys can help me out. thanks in advance.

############################################################ Update from January / 2012 # to everyone reading this and having the same issue:# There is a BIOS update F.22 available that fixes the recognition problem! ## Sata-III speeds are still not usable, but it is a big step forward. See page5 and onwards.########################################################### Hello fellow 6560b owners,I decided to enter this support forum to inform you of an important correlation concerning the SSD-Problem I observed: Every non-recognizable SSD-drive mentioned here had a native SATA-III (6Gb/s) Interface.  Every working SSD* had a native Sata-II or Sata-I interface.(*exception: the Crucial M4 mentioned by Slym, which seems to be recognized, but fails on system-level none the less. That does not count as 'working'.) The correlation to recognizion/Sata-II dawned on me after my 6560b did not recognize a brand new Kingston Hyper-X 120GB (Sata-III), but did correctly recognize an OCZ 180GB Agility 2 (Sata-II), which is almost identical to the OCZ Vertex 2/LE. The OCZ drive worked without problems until this week, when it suddently failed without warning. Totally bricked, all data lost. OCZ is aware of that problem, the forums are full of it, but they obviously don't want to start a recall. (Corsair did that with their failed Force3-Series, as well as Intel should do with their 310-Series repeatedly reverting to 8M size.)  Which means, I'm back to zero and have to find a new drive that is reliable and recognized in the 6560b. For any SSD-user out there: backups will save you a ton of frustration. Most mayor manufacturers had serious problems with their SSDs dying, so be warned. Some details about my machine: new 6560b, 3 months old (as was the OCZ drive), HW 65 B3 stepping.(->no Intel Sata-chipset failure possible.) Search for explanation / reasons to the 6560b's SSD-problemHWinfo reports 2 Sata-III Ports, which I suppose are those on the main drive slot and the optical drive. The HW 65 as well as the QB67 (which both seem to be very identical according to wikipedia) both reportedly support 2 SATA-III-Ports, which were not affected in the B2-stepping-Sata-II-failure-thing that hit Intel in Jan/Feb 2011.So why should a Sata-III-link from a Sata-III-capable mainboard to a Sata-III-capable drive not work, but a sata-II does? And why can't the Sata-III drives just revert to Sata-II capabilities and work slower, but recogizable? general issues that I can think of:
    1) hardware/software-based problem concerning the chipset improbable after that sata-II-issue. I assume they checked everything, and as most Sata-III drives are SSDs, they must have tested our models as well. Oh, and other Sandy-Bridge-notebooks accept Sata-III just fine, don't they?
remaining possibility: the B2-bug-aftermath produced this Sata-III-bug in the 6560b's configuration. That may be a hint to why the Sata-III Corsair M4 worked for the user Switched2HP and his B2-stepping-board, but similar M4-Corsair-SSDs did not work in B3-stepping-6560b notebooks. I'm not convinced of this explanation, though, as Switched2HP had also had problems with the Kingston-HyperX Sata-III drives. Important question @Switched2HP: did you test the Kingston Hyper-X in the same B2-stepping laptop the M4 runs fine in?
     2) hardware/software-problem on the SSD sideWith us trying almost every Sata-III drive out there? Which work fine on other Chipsets & notebooks? Almost impossible..
not improbable cause no. 3:- hardware-problem on the electrical link side [eg. bad connectors/cables which prevent Sata-III from working, while not allowing downwards compatibility to Sata-II to jump in] this problem would IMHO only be fixable with complete replacement of the mainboard probable cause no. 4:- bios/HP-hardware-software-based problem concerning the chipset  eg. it's HPs fault because they deactivated/bricked something. See point 1) for B2-stepping-aftermath-scenario.
IMHO quite possible. HP would earn a ton of respect if they manage to solve that problem with a firmware update.  As the 6560b was built to be upgraded in a few minutes, an issue prohibiting modern SSDs and HDDs to work is a complete deal-breaker. As we, the users, have no access to the deeper configuration options, hardware-level-logs or even just knowledge about the inner workings of our chipsets, this would be the perfect time of some expert from HP to join in this thread, which is running for over 3 months now.  I'm sorry guys from HP, but this is a serious problem, as soon there will only be Sata-III drives left, so I'm not doing this for fun.  The HP Probook is not just any cheap throwaway-laptop.

  • HP Probook 6560B

    Hi,
Im having issues with a HP Probook 6560B, where I am unable to boot it up at all (does not even power up).
I was curious if there is any known errors regarding power up issues or there is a simpler solution then to send the laptop off for warrenty.
I've already done some troubleshooting which hasn't fixed the issue:
     - Removed battery and replaced with a known working/charged one
     - Disconnected battery completely and plugged in AC adapter.
     - Tried using 2 known working AC adapters, from other HP Probook 6560B's..
I should also note that the entire time the laptop has had power, the front power LED is blinking between white and amber. This is regardless of wether or not the battery is inserted.
Any help with this issue would be great.
    Thanks

I have this same issue.  This is a new computer, less than 10 days old.  I'm sending this one in for warranty repair.

  • HP Probook 6560b Graphics Card issue

    Dear all,
First off... sorry for the long story...
Somebody has to explain this to me as I do not know what is going on.
I have a Probook 6560b laptop which has a AMD Radeon HD 7400M series graphics card.
Last saturday while I was messing around in Windows 8.1 Pro my screen suddenly went crazy. It looked like the screen you see on hacked computers in the movies. Everywhere pixelated.
I thought nothing of it and did a hard reboot. Laptop worked afterwards no problem.
Monday going to work my laptop screen started to go crazy again. I could not understand what was the issue. Everywhere pixels going from left to right and back and forth.
Then it happened. Blue Screen Of Death with the error : VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE.
I shut down my computer. Waited for a couple of seconds and turned it on. Screen was not working. Not even the bootloader with the HP logo wasn't showing.
I disconnected the charger, pulled out the battery and pressed the on off button for about a minute. Placed the battery back, turned the laptop on and screen got back.
But this was the beginning of many pixel error and frustration. Long story short (as up till now it has been a short story) screen did not come back on again and windows gave me a BSOD with error message VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE.
At this point I was convinced it was an hardware issue. I am guilty of playing games which gives a heavy load on the GPU.
When I connect an external monitor to my laptop I could see the screen but windows still gave BSOD.
Logged into safe mode... made a backup and installed windows 8.1 again. Aha everything was working... now ready to install the drivers...
The moment I installed the GPU drivers again BSOD with VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE. This is an hardware issue... I gave up fixing it... logged in safe mode... set the drivers to work with the normal display adapter.
So I was now working with a laptop screen that wasn't working... and a external screen hooked up to my laptop. I was looking to replace the chip on my laptop (which is 216-0809024 for those who are interested).
I know what you're thinking... It's an hardware issue... you know what the problem is ... go fix it...
    Now comes the weird part:
Today I installed a couple of software on my laptop and it needed to reboot. So I said yes and the laptop was rebooting... Suddenly the screen of my laptop turned on and showed everything like it was normal.
Already given up on the chip I figured this must be a fluke... so I did a shut down... and started my laptop again...
    Laptop screen was working...
*scratching my head at this point
So then I thought what would happen if I install the drivers... So I installed the drivers...
    Laptop screen was still working...
    *still scratching my head...
I have to shut down and reboot the computer... the GPU must be going crazy... So laptop shut down and reboot...
    Laptop screen was still working...
    *still scratching my head...
Installed 3D Benchmark... to see what is going on... All test at 60 FPS...
The GPU is working again and screen is working...
I have no clue what is going on and no clue how this can happen... After 3 days of not having a working GPU I suddenly have a perfectly fine GPU...
So I had to come with my story and had to ask someone... what the f???
Can someone explain this to me?
    Sorry for the long story...

After working for about 5 hours straight with no errors...
Screen died on me again... Funny thing was that it did not die on me while testing the gpu...
It died on me when I was remotely connected with another laptop using RealVNC...

  • Apple HDD replacement program Q's

Hi guys, sorry if my questions are quite trivial but I'm afraid of messing something up that will require multiple Apple store trips and or money. Long story short I finally decided I'm going to take my iMac to my nearest Apple store to be serviced under the HDD replacement program announced last year.
But I have a few questions about the whole process and how to make sure everything goes as smooth as possible.
1- I undesrtand I have to have a Time Machine back up or HDD Clone. Some people here actually recommend not to use the latest Time Machine back up, But instead doing so from a HDD Clone. Why?
2- I know I'll be erasing the old Drive before taking the iMac for service, what's the best way to do this?
3- Do I need to take my after market bought RAM before taking the Computer for service?
4- For those of you who have already gotten their machines serviced: do they return it with Mountain Lion already installed on it?
5- After getting the machine what will it be the best option, Use Set Up Assistant or Migration Assistant, and will I get accest to that by booting up while holding
    the "C" key?

    1. My preference is to use a clone. I made a fresh clone; the tech replaced the hard drive; we booted from the clone and cloned the system back - very fast process and your machine will be in the exact same state as it was before.
    2. Boot from your new clone (or your install disk) and use Disk Utility to erase your drive (you can't erase the drive you're booted from).
    3. No.
    4. I had mine done at my home (compliments of Applecare) and instructed the tech to use one of my clones. I've heard differing reports - some say ML was installed, others said that they got it back with the original system. If you have a clone, it does not matter what they install - simply boot from the clone when you get it back, erase the drive, and clone your system back.
    5. If you use the clone method, no Migration Assistant is needed.
Edit: If you have a clone on an external drive, you simply plug in the drive, hold the Option key at boot up and choose the clone to boot from. From there, launch CarbonCopyCloner and clone your system back.

    Hi,
Unfortunately,  business machines such as Probooks or Elitebooks have more stringent security than consumer models - they don't produce 'halt codes', the password cannot be derived from the Serial No. and the code is stored in non-volatile memory so removing the RTC cell will not reset the password in this case.
If you Contact HP Business support they should be able to send you a customised SMC.bin file which you can use at boot to reset the password.

  • UCCX Server HDD replacement

    Hi all,
I have Cisco MCS-7845-H2 Server running UCCX 8.0, and now one of the HDD failed and red light on.
I bought the new HDD-7845-H2-146= from Cisco and want to replace it, please advise any procedure prior to remove it and insert the new one, according to Cisco website the Server HDD are in RAID 1 configuration, or I can just pull it out and change it online as it suppose to be HOTPLUG.
    Thanks in advanced!

The server is running UCCX 8.0 and supporting the call center IP phone system, not able to power down for HDD replacement, anyway when I look at the server again and seen like the fault light went off by itself and the HDD back to normal operation.
Will monitor closely to see whether the HDD fault come back again.
