HP ProtectTools Security Manager and Windows 10

I am going to be updating to Windows 10, howevver it is saying that the HP ProtectTools Security Manager is not compatible with Windows 10. 2 questions I have. The first is: Is there going to be a replacement for these tools for Windows 10?Second is: How do I uninstall the tools so that I can proceed, properly?

Indeed! These instructions are useful but there is a newer version of Client Security Manager http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/detail?swItemId=ob_141863_1 Just to inform others users, HP protect tools security Manager has been rebranded to Client Security Manager. So it's the same software, they just change the name and the logo

You need to contact HP Technical Support since the fingerprint reader is part of their hardware configuration and HP would be the source for support of the fingerprint reader.
The HP Support website is found @

  • HP Protecttools Security Manager Suite for Windows 10

Where to I find a Windows 10 compatible HP Protecttools Security Manager Suite for download?  Had to uninstall when upgrading to Windows 10.

@Honour Student, how did you make copies of the installers? I'm hopelessly out of my depth here  and need to be walked thru. I own a Probook 4540s notebook running windows 7. My processor is intel core i5. I really don't want to lose my fingerprint swipe security feature. Please I need help, this stuff is driving me nuts

  • Uninstall HP ProtectTools Security Manager

Hello, Can you please help me with HP ProtectTools Security Manager removal? (HP ProBook 4530s)Reasons:  /slowing Windows startup and login  /extremely slow loading  /can not remove user password  /blocking some security accesses (I´m admin, so why is this???) I tried to uninstall it via Windows Control panel, side-provided software and also by following uninstall-steps found somewhere in forums. All these metods (3) with no results... Nothing works. I would really appreciate some help or tips. Thank You

    Mrsenter,
    FINALLY GOT IT WORKING!
After 50+ hours of installs, uninstalls and reboots I found the problem and fix.
Problem: Everytime I uninstalled the fingerprint driver it automatically re-installed itself with these files
    C:\Windows\system32\ATSwpWDFColnst.dll
    C:\Windows\system32\DRIVERS\ATSwpWDF.sys
    C:\Windows\system32\WdfCoinstaller01007.dll
After this happened a funny thing happens. The option Device Manager_Other devices_ Fingerprint Sensor then dissapears
    Fix:
Just after the fingerprint driver reinstalls itself theres a window of about 20 secs where the option Device Manager_Other devices_ Fingerprint Sensor still appears. At this point I right clicked and updated that driver as per instructions http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Operating-Systems-and-Software/DigitalPersona-AuthenTec-fingerprint-and-Windows-7/td-p/218831.
The correct files for the fingerprint driver are now:
    C:\Windows\system32\DRIVERS\ATSwpWDF.sys
    C:\Windows\system32\TrueSuitColnst02020000.dll
    C:\Windows\system32\WdfCoinstaller01009.dll
    C:\Windows\system32\WinBioPlugins\ATEngineAdapter.dll
    And now it works...
Tip: Download fingerprint Driver before and have it extracted so you can make the 20 sec window for updating the driver
    Many thanks,
    Sa

  • RDS 2012 R2 - How do I lockdown access to Local Computer Management and Windows Backup via Group Policy

    Greetings all,
I am needing assistance in how to lockdown access to Local Computer Management and Windows Backup via Group Policy for users that access RDS service. I have followed this awesome guide - h t t p://w w w.it.ltsoy.com/windows/lock-down-remote-desktop-services-server-2012/
      - but it is missing two important resources that I would like to lock down.Currently, I have successfully locked down Control Panel for users via Group Policy, but I cannot find any group policy or guide on how to restrict user access
to Computer Management (different to Server Manager). When using Win-X shortcut to open the 'Administrator's shortcuts' near the windows icon, I have locked down everything except Computer Management. Computer Management gives direct access to Disk Management,
Shares etc, which are locked down for users. But Windows Server Backup is still accessible. Can someone please guide me on how to restrict access to both Computer Management and Windows Server Backup.
    Thanks in advance.
    Terry.

Prevent running of Windows Server Backup
    Computer Configuration\Policies\Windows Settings\Security Settings\File System
Right click on File System - Add File - Drill down to \System32\wbadmin.msc
On the Database Security ACL that pops up - Remove Creator Owner, Remove Users and check Adminstrators have Full Access.
On the Object window - choose Propagate inheritable permissions to all... (Default)

  • Disable IE11 password management in HP Client Security Manager with Windows 8.1

HP Client Security Manager works for Windows login/unlock in Windows 8.1, but is not working with IE11.  Is there a way to disable HP Client Security Manager in IE11, but still keep the finger print reader for Windows login/unlock?  Firefox and Chrome are working without HP Client Security Manager and I would like IE11 not to use it either. You reply to the password prompts not to remember a site, but it still prompts everytime anyway.  Never worked this way in the Windows 7 version.. Thanks

    Thanks for the information.
Suggest you to try uninstall and re-install the latest version which is - 8.3.3.1762. The direct link is:

I use HP ProtectTools Security Manager to control my passwords. When i updated to Firefox 30. I received the following error message ; Firefox doesn't know how to open this address, because the protocol (dpql) isn't associated with any program. How can I solve this problem ?

    Hi le.hamzou,
Previous suggestions were to update the Security Manager if there was one. There were also these add ons:
[https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/fingerfox-se/ Fingerfox], but I am not sure if it will work on win8, it does on win7.
Another work around I saw was [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/search/?q=ietab&appver=29.0&platform=all IE Tab].

  • OWSM Vs OSB: Security, Management and Monitoring

Has anyone done a comparison of the Security, Management and Monitoring capabilities of OSB 10gR3 and OWSM?
I think both of them have a place in the architecture, but I am looking for pointers on the overlapping capabilities in terms of security and service monitoring. When is one preferred over the other with pros and cons.
    Thanks,
    -J

In short OSB you configure process by process. OWSM is a layer you can put across your whole enterprise.
Other than that the functionality is very similar.
    cheers

  • Disable or uninstal HP ProtectTools security manager

My fingerprint scanner has gone down.
I assume it is a hardware issue as have gone through all HP recomendations to get it working at: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&dlc=en&docname=c02519007&lc=en&jumpid=reg_r1002_us...
    but nothing has worked.
Anyway the notebook never leaves my house so it's not an issue. However, everytime I turn the notebook on and log in with my password, HP security manager butts in and spends a minute looking for the reader before telling me the biometric authentication service is not working and asks if I would like to continue without it.
Can I disable this program to speed boot up time as it is not needed in my instance?

    Hi @taliz ,
To get your issue more exposure I would suggest posting it in the commercial forums since this is a commercial product. You can do this at Commercial Forums.
Even though this is a Commercial product, You could follow these steps, even though, I don't recommend this as it is Security Tools.
Step 1:Click Start, then "All Programs." Select "HP Protect Tools Security Manager" from the list of programs.
Step 2:Click "Settings." Click the box to the left of the menu. The green check in the box should disappear, which means that the application is disabled.
Step 3:Close the window and restart the computer.
    Hope this helps you.
    Thanks.

  • Security Manager and Policy Files

    Hi all,
I am writing a simple java rmi application, but understand it wont run without a Security Manager installed and a policy file.
I think I have installed the security manger using the following in the main() method of my client application:
System.setSecurityManager(new RMISecurityManager());However I am unsure how to use a policy file with this. I have looked on the internet, but it does not seem to be very well documented
Please could you advise me how to create a policy file that will work for my application and where to place it in my application so that my application can use it.
Any help would be greatfuly appreciated
    Thanx
    Aaron

An RMI application doesn't need a security manager unless you are using the codebase feature.

  • Desktop manager and windows 8

I have attempted to get desktop manager to work with windows 8 for months.  I have ensured that I have followed various instructions including enabling .net 3.5 without success.  I install the desktop manager and my computer recognises the playbook when I plug it into a usb, however, the blackberry software does not  connect to the playbook.  Have tried turning off avast antivirus without success.
Can anyone helpl with an alternative, please?
It works with my MAC computer but not with my windows laptop!
    alun.
    Thanks

I have the exact same situation, and to make it worse I can't even get the desktop manager installed, let alone work.  I keep getting error message #1723.  It's hard to know whether it's a Windows problem or a Blackberry problem, although if it works on your Mac I guess it's a Windows problem.  I bought a new laptop and am having trouble with a lot of incompatibility problems with Windows 8.1.  I'll have to revert to my old Windows 7 laptop unless someone comes up with an answer.  Hopefully someone in the Community has one [fingers crossed].
