HP PSC 1317

My partner has a HP PSC1317 alll in one printer which hasnt been used for a while (over a year !!)  and she has purchased a new black cartridge but has no Colour one installed The printer does not function at all is this due to the fact that there is no Colour cartridge installed (Empty or full) As she doesnt want to go to the additional expense of purchasing a Clour cartridge only to find the printer still doesnt work.

Hi
Do you have an option to print in grayscale?

  • Windows 7 and HP psc 1317 All in One printer

A friend has a new laptop with Windows 7 installed. I am trying to install the software for his HP psc 1317 series all in one. I have down loaded the drivers etc from the HP site but despite running it as an administrator, both from the original disc and the download, it hangs up half way through telling me to run it as an administrator which I am. (The run as command no longer exists in Win 7) As the 1317 is an old unit but worked perfectly in XP do we have to throw it away which is a shame? I have gone into setup in the software and clicked to run as administrator but to no avail.

I am not sure about the driver you are trying to install...however here is the correct drivers for PSC 1317 with Windows 7 Support:

  • HP PSC 1317 All-In-One Problems

I am using a HP PSC 1317 All-In-One printer located on my Windows network, Mshome, connected to my Desktop Computer (PC). Using two Windows-powered laptops with the HP PSC printer being 'Shared' I am successfully able to print out documents over the network, wirelessly.
Today I have spent most of my time trying to get this same result using my PowerBook G4.
I connect to my Network, Mshome, open up a document and select print. My current printer is not listed so I click to add one. I then go through the steps required to add a printer to my PowerBook over the network. This all goes well until is lists it as 'Generic' to which I open up and select HP. I scroll up and down the list umpteen times to find my printer model is not listed so for most of my day I have been trying out official HP drivers for OS X for my model of printer including 3rd party drivers that all don't seem to work.
I bit the bullent and decided to install the printer directly via USB on to my PowerBook. Despite installing unwanted applications on my PowerBook that works and I can print out successfully. Using this same method, I try to add the printer over the network, with it still plugged in to my PowerBook, thinking that I would be able to locate the drivers, but still no luck (or no idea where these drivers will be located). I give up and plug the printer back in to my Desktop PC and then try to add it using the same process before but unable to locate the required drivers and the product model under HP.
I am totally clueless as to what I can do to have my PowerBook print out my work wirelessly using my HP PSC 1317 All-In-One printer using my Windows Network, Mshome.
Usually I am quite quick to fixing these sort of computer/hardware-related problems but this one simply has me stumped. Any help and adive on this would greatly help and end a wasted day.
    Regards,
    Steve

There was no PSC 1310 model choice in the menu. Deskjet 900 series doesn't work and, yes, at one point I did install Ghostscript. My printer does, however, work on the Windows network using multiple computers and laptops running Windows. Nevertheless, connecting to the network and using the printer using my PowerBook doesn't.
Nevermind. My alternative is that I can send my printable documents to a Windows computer on the network to print out. Nothing I cannot bypass anyway.
    Thanks for the help.

  • Hp-psc 1317 all-in-one printing problems

I have a hp psc 1317 printer scanner.  It is connected to my laptop running Windows Vista.  Recently the print quality diminished until now when I print a document it sounds like printing is happening but there is no mark on the paper whatsoever.
Today I downloaded and installed the HP Solution Centre software.  My ink levels are pretty full and when I attempt a test document the software doesn't seem to think there is a problem although still nothing is printing on the paper.
I am completely confsued as to what is causing this problem.  The only thing I can think might be connected to the problem is that in the printer window of the control panel two printers are showing: hp psc 1310 and hp psc 1310 (copy 1).  I'm not sure why the printer has been listed twice but I have  chosen each printer in turn and attempted to print a document.  When the 'original' printer is selected nothing is printed at all but if I select the 'copy' printer it goes through the process described above.
There is obviously not a problem with ink levels and the printer and computer are communicating but something somewhere is going wrong and I'd love someone's help if at all possible.
    Thanks so much
    Chris

  • HP PSC 1317 all-in-one Prints slowly

I have owned my HP 1317 for nearly 5 years & in that time it has performed really well. Lately however its speed of printing has slowed to a snails pace - it can take up to 10 to 15 minutes to print out a simple Word document.
The machine hasnt been dropped, knocked or otherwise abused, its has nearly full ink cartridges and the print quality is fine, with no spurious lines, smudges or other issues.
When a document is sent to print, the carriage will eventually move, sweep back & forward maybe 3 or 4 times & then suddenly stop, wait for up to a minute before moving again and then repeat this cycle until the document is complete.
Do you have any suggstions please as to how we can fix this as its driving me nuts !!
    Many Thanks

Most likely one of your print cartrdiges has failed and is incorrectly reporting its temperature.  I do not recall if the PSC 1317 can print with one of the cartrdiges removed but if so try the following:  remove the color cartrdige and print a simple text page from notepad.  If the print is normal speed then the color cartridge is the issue and should be replaced.  If the printer still pauses at each swath then reinstall the color cartridge and remove the black cartridge.  Print the page from notepad once again.  Does the printer now pause during printing?  If not then the black cartridge is the issue and should be replaced.
If the printer will not print with one of the cartridges removed (or if one of the cartrdiges is identified by the above procedure as the issue) then try cleaning the cartrdige contacts as shown here.  This is for a different cartridge series but the procedure would be the same.

  • Hp Psc 1317 not shown as scanner on Mac Os

    Hi
I have the Hp Psc 1317 Multi-function Printer/Scanner, I can print, not perfectly (very slow) but it does, I can  open the HP Utility etc. but I cannot scan.
eg in Photoshop or Preview the scan option is grey. Pressing the scan button will not do anything.
Software is up-to date (before Maverick)  Mac OS 10.8.5 Mountain Lion   on Retina MacBook Pro
    Connected by USB
Scanner works on my old Windows XP Laptop

    Hello,
I understand that you are having an issue with scanning from the Mac 10.8.5. First step that I would like to take is to delete the printer from the print queue. I have included the following steps.
    1) Click on the Apple icon
    2) Click on System Preferences
    3) Click on Print and Scan
    4) Click on your printer
    5) Click on the minus (-) sign in the bottom left corner
** Repeat steps 4 and 5 until the PSC 1317 is no longer listed on the left side **
    To re-add the printer
    1) Click on the plus (+) sign in the bottom left corner
    2) Click on add other printers or scanners
    3) Click on your printer
    4) Down towards the bottom, where it says 'Use', make sure this states your printer and NOT AirPrint
    5) Click add
Please close down the windows that you do have open. I have included the following link 'HP Printer Drivers v.2.16.1 for OS X'. This is the most updated driver for HP from Apple. Please click on the blue download and install the update. Once the update has completed, please shut down the Mac completely for one minute.
Once the Mac has restarted, please follow the steps listed below for scanning.
    1) Click on the Apple icon
    2) Click on System Preferences
    3) Click on Print and Scan
    4) Click on Scan in the upper middle portion of the window (should be to the right of the print in blue)
Please let me know if you are able to scan now, thank you.

  • HP PSC 1317 All-In-One Issue

    Hi folks,
I have a rather big issue with my current printer. I have a network set up using an AirPort Extreme (802.11n). The printer itself is almost 3 years old. It's connected to the USB port on my Extreme and appears when I try to set up add a printer it appears under the "Printer Name" list as "Spare Room Printer", which is what I have named the printer.
Upon clicking the printer, it loads the name, the location but then appears with "Print Using: Please select a driver or printer model". Scrolling through the list of installed drivers the driver for the 1317 is not present. Leopard officially supports my model of printer, however, HP states my printer is not supported on a Mac network. Obviously, despite what I do, this printer will not work using an Extreme over a network. It does, however, work when connected to a PC and accessing the printer that way. That method requires the PC to be turned on whenever I wish to use the printer.
It'd be interesting to hear if anyone has on the off-chance managed to get their HP PSC 1300 series printer working when plugged directly in to an Extreme.
What I would like to know, though, is this. I have installed these two apps:
    (1) http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=mp-35188-1 &lc=en&cc=uk&dlc=en&product=374584&os=219&lang=en
    (2) http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=oj-19842-4 &lc=en&cc=uk&dlc=en&product=374584&os=219&lang=en
Could anyone direct me as to where the files/drivers are located on my hard drive that these two apps have installed? With the printer not working when networked and the printer's driver already on my system, the files/drivers that these two apps have installed are thus useless and I would like to remove them.

    Hi,
I have had a HP 1300 series working with the older dome top WiFi for a long time. The power supply took a hit and cost more then a new printer, so I got a 1600 series now. But on the 1300 it should work with any 1300 driver. The one that came with mine on the disk was just 1300 series altho it was a 1315. If it sees it on the WIFI network, you should be able to use it ( considering the driver is present, which you say it is... and it must be if you can use it wired). I did install mine wired, then went to wireless (just the WiFi and printer, no other computer). You could try and turn off the PC, leaving the printer and WIFi on. Then, with WiFi seeing it, go to System Preferences > Printers & Fax and install it all over again. All the files and drivers should be there for the clicking.
I had this with the 1600 too. Installed with the wire, and had to reinstall without it. The 2 files you have may or may not come into play. I downloaded an update from HP web-site, that were older then the ones on the disc...??? The only thing the printer will not do wireless, is scan. There seems to be no fix for that, and that is maybe what HP is telling you about not being supported. The printing is, and thru a WiFi network it is.
Try reinstalling it wireless and pick the closest driver (if not the exact one)(or the series driver). Leave the PC off to get it the way you want it. You may have to change the name for it slightly so it will not copy the non-working set-up (and still not work).
Let us know how it goes...
    Enjoy

  • New macbook pro connects to HP psc printer but does not print

    Hi,
I have just got the new macbook pro model A5102 and i have followed the instructions on the HP website to install my HP psc 1317 all- in-one printer. I am using a USB connection, and I have followed the instructions, turning on printer, connecting via usb, checking for software updates. The printer queue is automatically made, and i go to printer and scanners and it is there in the list. I then go to print and nothing appears in the queue. I disconnect the printer and it goes offline so the connection via usb is working, its just not printing. I have also restarted the laptop and I have deleted and re-installed printer several times. I don't know if I am missing something out, so can somebody please help. Ive been to the HP website as I assumed I needed to download a driver but it does not give me the option.
    Thanks,

  • Check print cartridge - won't print

I have an HP1317. I have just replaced the black cartridge so it should work fine but just get 'check print cartridge message'. I've taken both out several times and put back. I've turned off power and re-booted. I've tried everythin I can think of but still message appears. H E L P!

    Hello @paulhoward,
    Welcome to the HP forums.
I understand that you are having a problem with your PSC 1317 accepting the new ink cartridge.
    I would like to help.
The following document should help with your issue.
    Check Print Cartridge Light Blinking
You have already completed steps 1-3, so I am posting step 4-5.
Step 4: Clean the problem cartridge contactsIf the light is still blinking, clean the electrical contacts by the procedure below:
Gather the following items to clean the cartridge and print carriage:
Clean distilled water. Use bottled or filtered water if distilled water is not available.
Clean cotton swabs or any soft, lint-free material that will not stick to the cartridges (coffee filters work well).
Remove the cartridge and place it on a piece of paper with the nozzle plate facing up. NOTE:Try to clean the contacts quickly enough that the cartridge is not outside of the printer for more than 30 minutes. The ink can dry and clog the nozzles if the cartridge is outside of the printer for too long.
    Unplug the printer.
Dip a swab in the clean water, then squeeze it to remove most of the moisture. The swab should only be slightly damp.
Clean the print cartridge contacts. The illustration below shows these contacts. Avoid touching the nozzles.
Figure : Clean the print cartridge contacts
Clean the contacts in the print carriage, inside the printer. The illustration below shows the carriage and the contacts.
Wait ten minutes to allow the cartridge to dry, then reinstall the cartridge, plug the printer back in, and close the cartridge access door.
    Figure : Print carriage
Figure : Clean the gold-colored contacts in the print carriage
Step 5: Repeat reseating and cleaning steps
If the print cartridge light keeps flashing, repeat steps 3 and 4 above.
Step six is to replace the ink cartridge or call HP.

  • Windows 7 print spooler keeps stopping

I have two printers. Both HP, one is a PSC 1317 and the other is a Deskjet 710c. Windows will install the drivers correctly. The PSC1317 uses the drivers as supplied by HP. The Deskjet 710c uses a basic driver supplied by Microsoft.
The problem starts when i try to print anything. I get the message "Windows cannot connect to the printer. The local print spooler is not running. Please restart the spooler or restart the machine"
If i restart the machine, and try to print, I get the same message. If i restart the Print Spooler, i get the same message.
I have tried numerous uninstalls and reinstalls of the drivers for both printers. I have redownloaded the software from HP on 3 different systems to rule out file corruption but to no avail.
    I am using windows 7 Ultimate x64
When i search for the problem on the web, i cannot find anything to do with the problem for Windows 7, only XP and Vista soutions come up
Does anyone have any answers? As i need the printers for printing out my coursework which is due in next week.

There is a known issue with the Deskjet 710c in 64 bit versions of Vista or Windows 7 that crashes the spooler.  There is a patch to correct this available here.

  • Laptop disagrees with printer

I have a HP PSC 1317.  It is a lovely little printer and has served me well.  But now my laptop refuses to talk to it, saying that there is a paper jam.  There was a jam and I cleared it but still my laptop gives the same excuse.  The printer works perfecly well in copy mode and passes paper through with no difficulty but my laptop still refuses to have anything to do with it.
How can I make them friends again?
    This question was solved.

Brilliant!  It worked - although not until I had rebooted the laptop after doing the hard reset on the printer.  Anyway, they have resumed their relationship and both promised not to be so silly again.

  • Can't print from iBook G4 via Windows XP to an HP PSC 1410

    Hello,
I realize this question is very similar to others on this discussion but I haven't been able to find an answer to my problem.
I cannot print from my iBook via XP to an HP PSC 1410.
I can print from my iBook via XP to an HP LaserJet 4L.
I was able to print from my iBook via XP to an HP882C that was connected
to the same USB port that the HP PSC 1410 is connected to now.
    I have an iBook G4 running 10.4.3
I have a PC running XP with an HP LaserJet 4L on a parallel port and an HP PSC 1410 on a USB port.
I installed the following from http://www.linuxprinting.org/macosx/hpijs/
    hpijs-foomatic-2.02.ppc.dmg
    espgs-7.07.1.ppc.dmg
    HP-PSC_1400-hpijs.ppd
I think I correctly followed the instructions at:
    http://www.ifelix.co.uk/tech/3015.html
They worked for the LaserJet printer.
When I attempt to print from the iBook to the 1410 the HP doesn't print at all.
I don't see any error messages on the iBook. The document gets spooled onto the Windows print spooler, the printer even starts making noises, the print heads move about a bit and then stop. The print job just sits there in the queue with a status of "Printing". The print job is then stuck and hard to delete.
I don't need to be able to scan or check ink levels from the iBook.
I would just like to be able to do color printing.
What else should I try? Given the symptoms where might I be going wrong?
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Hi all,
I finally figured out what the issue was, Why it fixes it I can not say,
    but it does.
On the Shared printer on the Windows side, go to the properties of the Printer.
Go to the Ports tab, and deselect the "Enable bidirectional Support" (do not
have it checked). Once this is done and you also do not have any firewalls
setup on the Windows machine (Windows, MCAfee, Norton, ....). You should be
    able to print.
Finally!!!!! I hope this helps many many people. As I have had many
people asking for the solution if I found it.
    Thanks,

  • Is there a Macintosh OS 8.6 or 9.0.4 printer driver for an HP PSC 2355?

    Dear Ladies and Gentlemen:
I know this is very old {don't laugh}, but I was looking for a Macintosh OS 8.6 or 9.0.4 printer driver for my recently purchased HP PSC 2355 All-in-One printer.
I run OS X 10.5.8 on an Apple iBook G4 and also run a Mac OS 9.0.4 emulator on it called SheepShaver. Trouble is SheepShaver will only run up to Mac OS 9.0.4 and the HP PSC 2355 minimum drivers are for Mac OS 9.1.
I would love to be able to print from SheepShaver and the scanner features are unimportant to me under Mac OS 9.
Are there printing drivers (even from a different, but compatible printer) that would allow me to print from this printer under Mac OS 9.0.4?
    Thank you so much!

    Hello,
When you say you recently purchased the PSC 2355, i believe this is a very old printer.
I am not sure on how the SheepShaver works but we do have the printer driver available for 10.9 on hp.com. The first link mentioned below will take to the product page. Rest all are some of the InkJet and DeskJet drivers.
