  • HP PSC 1410 printing blank pages

I have recently installed windows 7 (32 bit) on my Asus G50 laptop. First thing i did was installing all the latest drivers from the HP website including the HP solution centre and other software. Now here's my problem:
Whenever i try to print anything through 3rd party software (i.e. browsers, Word, Notepad etc.) my PSC 1410 'prints' blank pages. The reason i say print is because i can hear the printerhead moving as if it was really printing and the paper gets pulled through in short steps like it normally would. There is however no ink on the pages.
Now here's the weird thing. When i check my ink levels in the solution centre, both color and black are over 75%. It get's even better now: When i use solution centre to print a test page or clean out the inkcartridges it works fine! It seems like all programs outside of HP software have problems communicating somehow.
i'm pretty sure i have the latest drivers installed (downloaded them 3 days ago). I'm running the 32bit version of Windows 7, kept nicely up to date, on an Asus G50v notebook. some technical specs for the lovers:
    Intel Core 2 Duo T9400 (2.53 GHz)
    Nvidia GeForce 9700M GT

  • PSC 1410 printer all in one

I have a Hp PSC 1410 all in one printer wired to my desktop. How can I use it with my  wireless laptop. Its on there but when i click it is  is offline and I cant change it to online. Can use it fine on the desk top but I had anew hard drive pit in my desktop last week and since then  something has changed that I cant get my printer to be online. on my laptop. Hp helped me set it up on my laptop  when I got the laptop  but now they wont help me as they say this printer has no support. I dont believe that. Wanted to sell me a new printer which i refused as this printer works fine.
Anybody know an answer to this problem?

Do you have the printer wirelessly connected to your network or ethernet connected to a router?
If so, then you should be able to print from the wireless notebook.
If you just replaced the harddrive, then it may be necessary for you to perform a new install of this printer. I would uninstall the old software and re-install with the most up-to-date drivers available here.
    Hope this helps.

  • Airport Express with HP PSC 1410 printer

I have an airport/airtunes express and have an HP PSC 1410 all in one printer. I can't get it to work as my "network printer" I was surfing the Apple website looking at FAQs and it directed me to the HP site. There are a list of known printers that were compatible with airport express. Mine didn't show up....BUT, the information was very vague. Does anyone know if this will work, or is the "all in one" messing things up? I assume you can't scan and receive data via 802.11b from the Airport Ex.
    Thoughts?

When connected via an Airport Express or Base Station, basically all you can do with a printer is "print". It is *not possible* for any make/model of printer to do any of the following:
    1. scan or fax on with a multifunction printer
    2. check ink levels, or any other printer status
    3. clean print heads
    4. use any printer utility software provided by the printer manufacturer
Paper choices are usually a function of the printer driver, and are therefore always available. Some photo printers won't allow options like borderless printing to work - but issues like this seem only to be known through discussion forums like this since they are rarely publically documented by the printer manufacturers.

  • PSC 1410 - print job stuck in queue

Sometimes my PSC 1410 stops printing part-way through a page: the warning lights "jam" and "cartridge" come on, although the paper path clears after pressing On/Resume when the spoiled sheet emerges (undamaged), and the cartridges are at about half life and have been aligned. Apart from the waste of paper and ink, the great problem is that the stuck job remains in the queue and does not respond to Cancel or Delete: even switching printer and computer off and on still leaves the job stuck in the queue sometimes, when it has been known to restart printing automatically.
Can anybody tell me a sure-fire method of clearing the stuck job out of the queue ?

  • Can't print from iBook G4 via Windows XP to an HP PSC 1410

    Hello,
I realize this question is very similar to others on this discussion but I haven't been able to find an answer to my problem.
I cannot print from my iBook via XP to an HP PSC 1410.
I can print from my iBook via XP to an HP LaserJet 4L.
I was able to print from my iBook via XP to an HP882C that was connected
to the same USB port that the HP PSC 1410 is connected to now.
    I have an iBook G4 running 10.4.3
I have a PC running XP with an HP LaserJet 4L on a parallel port and an HP PSC 1410 on a USB port.
I installed the following from http://www.linuxprinting.org/macosx/hpijs/
    hpijs-foomatic-2.02.ppc.dmg
    espgs-7.07.1.ppc.dmg
    HP-PSC_1400-hpijs.ppd
I think I correctly followed the instructions at:
    http://www.ifelix.co.uk/tech/3015.html
They worked for the LaserJet printer.
When I attempt to print from the iBook to the 1410 the HP doesn't print at all.
I don't see any error messages on the iBook. The document gets spooled onto the Windows print spooler, the printer even starts making noises, the print heads move about a bit and then stop. The print job just sits there in the queue with a status of "Printing". The print job is then stuck and hard to delete.
I don't need to be able to scan or check ink levels from the iBook.
I would just like to be able to do color printing.
What else should I try? Given the symptoms where might I be going wrong?
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Hi all,
I finally figured out what the issue was, Why it fixes it I can not say,
    but it does.
On the Shared printer on the Windows side, go to the properties of the Printer.
Go to the Ports tab, and deselect the "Enable bidirectional Support" (do not
have it checked). Once this is done and you also do not have any firewalls
setup on the Windows machine (Windows, MCAfee, Norton, ....). You should be
    able to print.
Finally!!!!! I hope this helps many many people. As I have had many
people asking for the solution if I found it.
    Thanks,
    Steven Stuart

Install what?  If it is the PSC 1410 then what operating system? Do you have a 32 bit or 64 bit version?  See my post here.
If a different printer model please start a new thread after reading  this post and then provide some details.  What printer model? What operating system? How is the printer connected - USB, wired LAN, Wireless LAN, bluetooth?

    Hello Jai_pareek,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums! I see you would like to install your HP PSC 1410 to your computer running the Windows 8 Operating system. You tried downloading the Windows 7 driver but are now getting a fatal error. Please go ahead and start with the steps listed below:
    1. Unplug the USB if using a direct connection.
    2. Remove the HP PSC 1410 software from your computers Control Panel's Uninstall a program option.
    3. Restart the computer.
    4. Make sure ALL the PSC 1410 software is gone from the programs list as well as your HP folder listed under the All programs in your Start Menu.
    5. Now go ahead and download the software and drivers for your PSC 1410 (DO NOT plug in USB until the software prompts you to):

  • HP PSC 1410 not printing with Airport Express

I have just purchased this printer. I'm running Tiger on a Powerbook G4.
When I set up the printer with a direct USB connection to my computer, the printer is added with the driver "HP All-in-One 3.0.1" automatically chosen. It works just fine.
When I plug in the printer to my Airport Express, the same All-in-One driver is automatically offered. I chose it, and the printer is added to my list of printers no problem. However, it just won't print. It tries to start the print job, and then the printer icon bounces in the dock with a big red exclamation mark. I try to click on start print job, and the same thing happens - it tries to start the job, but then just stops and the exclamation mark appears.
Does anyone know what might be wrong?
    Thanks
    Theresa

The PSC 1410 is not on the list of known compatible printers found at http://www.efelix.co.uk/tech/1013.html - which may very well explain the problem.

  • Test print PSC 1410

everytime i switch on my printer HP- PSC  1410 it start with a test print ,how can i avoid it. Thanks for concern.

    Hi @ben51
Let's perform a hard reset. To do so, leave the printer on and unplug the power cable fro 1 minute. While it is unplugged, hold down the power button on the printer for 10-15 seconds to release any built up power, then after the minute has passed, plug the printer back in.
Also, do you have the printer connected directly to a wall outlet or is it in a surge protector or power bar? Even if you have been using a surge protector/power bar all this time and you feel it is not the cause, please connect it to a wall outlet just so we can eliminate the power source as the root cause.   Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector
In this document you will see, ISSUE: Problems or issues may arise when an HP LaserJet series printer is connected to an uninterruptible power supply (UPS), a power strip, or a surge protector
^ This is not limited to Laserjet printers.
If the issue persists, I am not sure what else to suggest other than to call us.   If you are in Canada or US call 800 474 6836, or you can Contact HP Worldwide.

  • Chooser problem with HP PSC 1410 and HP Deskjet 5940 on Classic

Excuse me for my bad english, I am french... !!!
I have just bought macmini with HP DeskJet 5940 promotion. I installed internet last driver for it. Printing is OK with Mac OS 10.4.4 but doesn't work with Classic. Printer is connected by USB port. I tried with another HP printer : HP PSC 1410. It doesn't work too under Classic.
When I try to print under Classic from SimpleText, I obtain the message : "SimpleText ne peut imprimer un autre document pour le moment. Utilisez le sélecteur pour choisir une imprimante". I translate in english : "SimpleText can't print another document for this time. Use chooser to select a printer."
I open chooser and click on LaserWriter8 as indicated in documentation. I obtain a new message : "LaserWriter8 requiert AppleTalk. Assurez-vous que vous êtes bien connecté au réseau AppleTalk." I translate in english : "LaserWriter8 asks AppleTalk. Be sure that you are connected to AppleTalk net.". I click on OK and two new message appears : "Impossible d'ouvrir AppleTalk". I translate in englisk : "Can't open AppleTalk" and "Pour activer AppleTalk, ouvrez les préférences Réseau et cliquez sur AppleTalk". I translate : "To activate AppleTalk, open net preferences and click on AppleTalk". Evidently, that is already made !
But it is absolutely necessary that I can use deskjet printers under Classic with my macmini which runs on Mac OS 10.4.4 !
I turn around the problem and I don't find solution. Have you some ideas ?
Thank you for your help !

Pardon: je parlais Francais comme une vache espagnol et unless HP specifically says so, there is no guarantee that any modern printer will work in Classic - partly because printer manufacturers don't bother with aging software, and partly because some printer manufacturers seem not to understand that Classic over OS X deals with printers very differently from the way pure, bottable OS 9 does.
If you have a freshly installed OS X with a freshly installed Classic 9 and the right versions of HP's drivers and utilities, it should work - but if any of those is not freshly installed, there might be third-party components interfering.
If all-fresh software doesn't work, launch Apple's own Desktop Printer Utility and tell it to create a virtual Desktop Printer with Translator Postscript.
Even though it doesn't actually appear on the Desktop, that will become the default printer for Classic, accessible thorugh Chooer's LaserWriter driver.
Try again to print from SimpleText but set the dialog to Print to File, which should create a .ps file that can be dragged onto any X print queue, where it should just print! (To find an X print queue, Print from any X application and tell the Dock to Keep the icon)
That method is not guaranteed, but it does work for most people with most printers.

  • HP PSC 1410 All in One HANG INDEFINITELY with Remote Downlevel Document

Hi, after a few days of setting up my PSC 1410 All In One Printer, which is hooked up to a Compaq Presario V3000 running on Windows XP SP3 with AMD Turion 64x2 processor; and shared print to a Sony Vaio VGN FW33G, and a Mac Pro running on Snow Leopard OS X 10.6
Just yesterday, my printer was jammed with a "Remote Downlevel Document" which I can't remove after using these methods I've researched:
    1. "Right Click and Cancel" x [indefinite] times
    2. "Right Click and Refresh" x [indefinite] times
    3. "Restart" x [indefinite] times
    4. "Restart" with printer hooked on/off to the USB x [indefinite] times + [indefinite] combinations of whichever comes first
    5. "Unhook USB and Click Start>Run "net stop spooler" and Rehook USB and Click Start>Run "net start spooler" x [indefinite] times
    6. Did virus scan for suspicious virus using Anti Vir
    7.  And in between, combinations of the above x [indefinite] times
    8. Search on the internet which obviously there's no real solution
    Please help.
    Regards,
    Bobby

Am (attempting) to print direct from my MacBook - admittedly I did not install any printer drivers during the Leopard (clean) install and am a bit confused as to whether I'm now using the right one, but from what I can gather from the threads like this now littering this forum it wouldn't have made much of a difference. I had infact presumed my problem was just that - that I hadn't the right driver.
Like I hinted at previous; I can reconnect the HP to my old G4 running Tiger and print with no trouble whatsoever.
Trying to print from Leopard brings up the print dialog, and subsequent utility as it should but then nothing - as if the MacBook's not talking with the HP (though it happily recognises it as being there and what model it is etc.).
I have not yet attempted to print over the network, mainly because I couldn't succeed as is. Or tried to scan as it happens (I hardly ever use the built in scanner as I have a better one and the PSC is my backup - I scan a lot in my job).
