HP PSC 1510 All in One Feeding Problem

I own a HP PSC 1510 All in One and have had very few problems with it up until now. The computer that it is mainly plugged into runs on Windows XP. Once the printer is turned on it immediately takes in a sheet of paper however only half way then a message appears on the computer screen saying that there is a paper jam. If you press the "Cancel/Resume" button on the printer the paper feeds all of the way through however it immediately takes in another sheet but again only half way. Because of this you cant print at all.
Hope you can help!!!

Paper feed out of sync on HP PSC 1510 All-in-One(SN MY59SD224W0498). Goes to flashing orange light. With Vista Home Premium 32-bit, 6.0.6002 Service Pack 2 Build 6002. USB connection to HP Pavilion GU658AA-ABU a6250.uk .
After cleaning ink drip tray including removing & refitting the small panel in the base towards the rear RHS of the  printer and also Super Glueing a small wedge of timber to close split shaft bearing for rear print feed rollers - looking from rear with clean out door removed this is at the LHS where the cogs are - paper feed is out of sync. When turned on with paper in feed tray printer draws in paper until about 2" (5cm) of paper protrudes from delivery slot & then stops. Paper jam is indicated by flashing orange light. On pressing Cancel/Resume, paper is expelled & another sheet taken in with the same results. Have turned off & restarted. Have moved cartridge cleaner tray right from front to rear & tested & then brought it right forward again & tested. Have turned off & unplugged power & USB & restarted after more than 30 minutes. Have uninstalled driver & downloaded & installed anew. Downloaded & ran the HP Print Diagnostic Utility. All to no avail. Any suggestions anyone?

    Hi there nobster,
This article should cover the blinking light. However, I suspect the printer requires servicing.

  • PSC 1510 All in one printer - won't print even black and white when colour cartridge not recognised

My PSC 1510 All in one printer is flashing the "check printer cartrige icon" and both "Black" and "Colour" icons at the bottom left of the printer.
It won't print at all, even when I select grayscale (black and white). The help pages tell me that if I remove the colour cartridge the printer will switch to backup mode and I'll still be able to print in black and white (though not copy or scan). But this is not the case, and I can find no way of switching manually to backup mode. The help pages have no useful explanation of backup mode. I've also tried cleaning the cartridge (which I'm pretty sure isn't empty) but that makes no difference.
Can anyone help? I'd be very grateful.

gabri21 wrote: I have a very similar problem with my PSC1510 but only the colour cartridge light is blinking. I am also unable to find any useful information to set up printing in back up mode. Can anyone assist in resolving this problem for us?
With only one cartridge light blinking I would suspect the cartridge, they do rarely fail (much more often for reman cartridges, see here).  Clean the cartridge contascts as shown here.  If that fails and the cartridge is an original HP then check the warranty date as shown here.  If the cartridge is in warranty return it to your dealer for a warranty replacement.
The printer will automatically switch to backup mode if the black (or color in some printers) cartridge is removed.  I do not know if this works with the PSC 1510, some all-in-on devices insist on having both cartridges present.

  • Windows RT and HP PSC 1510 All-in-One printer connection

Hi, I have a Windows 8.1 RT tablet (Microsoft Surface 2) and a wired HP PSC 1510 All-in-One printer. Now when I plug in the printer via the USB, there is no driver that can be found to make this printer work with my device. Anyone have this problem or any solutions? I've tried looking at HP support and nothing there has been helpful.
Let me add that on the Microsoft Surface, you cannot run .EXE files which are the file types of the HP drivers.
    Thanks ahead

  • HP PSC 1510 All in One Printer

My all in one printer won't feed the photo paper into the printer even though I have changed all the settings to "best" and "glossy."  I have shut the printer down, unplugged it and it still won't work.  I read that you an use a "HP Paper Feed Cleaning Kit" to clean the rollers but I don't see anywhere to purchase it on this site.  Does anyone have any ideas about why the printer isn't pulling the glossy paper up into the printer?  Thank for you help!

I have been researching this for days!  My mom recently gave me her 1510 All-In-One & I didn't have a problem until about a week after I got it.  No matter if it's plain paper or photo paper, it's like it doesn't grab the paper & then that darn error light starts flashing!!  I had to feed the paper manually.. and now just within the last two or three days, it won't even work when I do it that way!!  I'm so frustrated!  I googled it and it seems as if quite a few people have had this same problem!  One thread recommended reinstalling the driver, so I did that... and nothing.  I tried cleaning the rollers as well... still nothing!  I'm going to keep researching.  If I find a solution I'll let you know tahoedrmr, otherwise.. if anyone else who happens to come along & knows how to solve this problem, I would greatly appreciate the help!!!!

  • HP PSC 1600 All-in-one installing problem

I just purchased the above all in one from the apple store. I followed all the instructions but when I try to install the printer software by clicking the icon I keep getting the standard:
'There are no devices connected or he device which you have connected is not supported by this installer. Please connect the proper device and run the installer'
The accompanying trouble shooting booklet, mentions this problem and says to make sure the USB cable is plugged in the computer before instaling the software. I have done this but to no avail.
Any idea what I could be doing wrong?

Yes I just installed it and before that the other download on the HP website. They still wont work. The apple store suggest I bring it the all in one printer to the store and my Imac, however I have to book an appointment for them to sort it out, maybe a week. I want to have actioned asap cos I have a lot of work to do on it!

  • Problems with my HP PSC 1510 All-In-One Printer

I was wondering if someone could help me with a problem that I've been having. I just bought a new computer and had to upgrade my printer to Windows 7.   I had no trouble with the installation process, but ever since I've downloaded the update, EVERY time I go to print something, a test page prints out first. This is totally wasting ink and I was wondering if someone could help me fix this menacing problem. Many thanks in advance!!!!

  • Hp-psc 1317 all-in-one printing problems

I have a hp psc 1317 printer scanner.  It is connected to my laptop running Windows Vista.  Recently the print quality diminished until now when I print a document it sounds like printing is happening but there is no mark on the paper whatsoever.
Today I downloaded and installed the HP Solution Centre software.  My ink levels are pretty full and when I attempt a test document the software doesn't seem to think there is a problem although still nothing is printing on the paper.
I am completely confsued as to what is causing this problem.  The only thing I can think might be connected to the problem is that in the printer window of the control panel two printers are showing: hp psc 1310 and hp psc 1310 (copy 1).  I'm not sure why the printer has been listed twice but I have  chosen each printer in turn and attempted to print a document.  When the 'original' printer is selected nothing is printed at all but if I select the 'copy' printer it goes through the process described above.
There is obviously not a problem with ink levels and the printer and computer are communicating but something somewhere is going wrong and I'd love someone's help if at all possible.
    Thanks so much
    Chris

I have a PSC 1410 for a while now and I reinstalled Windows 7 recently and now the printer's not detected but I can scan documents. What could be the problem? It was working fine before I reinstalled Windows 7 and I've obviously installed the drivers.

  • PSC 1510 All in One won't print black

Had printer for couple of years. Suddenly has decided doesn't want to print black. Tried everything. Have noticed other HP models on forum have same problem. One tag mentioned taking colour cartridge out and then it prints in black. Tried this but printer goes into fault mode as soon as I take colour cartridge out.
    Any other ideas?

OK, if there is some black after manually cleaning the nozzles then the problem is the cartridges, not the printer.  I would suggest running up to 3 cleaning cycles from the front panel.  If this does not fix the problem then likely you need a new HP cartridge.

  • HP PSC 1315 All in one printing problem

My printer only prints text in red in the body. It will print black along the top and bottom of the paper.  It also prints in black when I copy something.  I put in new fresh cartridges.  What can I do?

What program are you printing from?  It would appear your are printing in graphics mode (rather then black text) and that your printer is running out of cyan ink.

Every so often my psc1310 printer goes into "Deleting..." when it is instructed to erase a message. Disconnecting, closing and  reopening the computer, etc., does no good. It usually requires uninstalling and reinstalling the printer program to get rid of the problem.

  • Does hp support a HP psc 1500 all in one printer

I can not print in black.  I've re uninstalled and re installed my printer at least 6 times,  can not find my printer which is a HP  psc 1500 all in one listed therefore I used software for 1510 all in one.  It prints all text in light blue.  I've tried changing my printing preferences many different ways.  Nothing seems to correct this problem.  I've run a test page and it printed  two lines in black( black print read HP PSC 1500 series and my serial number on the second line)  and 3 color blocks and the rest was small squares and small lines in 3 columns. My frustration level is at an all time high.  I've literally spent an entire day trying to fix this problem.  Please help before I do something RASH.  Thank You, Greta2

    Hey @greta2,
Welcome to the HP Support Forum.  I understand you're having a print quality issue with your HP PSC 1500 All-in-One Printer.  I would like to assist you in resolving this and have some steps that may improve your print quality.  You were correct in using the 1510 All-in-One drivers as they are compatible with your printer.  Additionally, you were very diligent in approaching the problem from a software perspective - this rules out printer settings as being the most likely cause of the absence of black ink in your printouts.
From what you're describing with the test-page printout, I would recommend that you troubleshoot the issue at the hardware level.  For starters, click on the following article heading and work your way through Steps 2 through 6 to better diagnose the issue:
    Missing, Faded, or Dull Colors
As I suspect your print diagnostic page (Steps 3-6) will be lacking black ink in some parts as before, proceed with the following steps:
Run the clean print cartridges utility
Open the Printer Toolbox. There are two ways to do this:
Open HP Director (or HP Solution Center), select the Settings menu, then the Print Settings submenu, and finally the Printer Toolbox.
Open Printers and Faxes in the Windows Control Panel, then right-click your printer icon and choose Properties. Click on Printing Preferences. Click the Services tab, then the Service This Device icon.
The Printer Toolbox opens. On the Device Services tab, click Clean the Print Cartridges , then follow the on-screen instructions. Up to three levels of cleaning are available. Discard or recycle the page that prints.
    Clean the contacts
Gather the following items to clean the cartridge and carriage:
Clean distilled water. Use bottled or filtered water if distilled water is not available. Tap water can contain contaminants that damage the cartridge.
Clean cotton swabs or any soft, lint-free material that will not stick to the cartridges (coffee filters work well).
Sheets of paper or a paper towel to rest the cartridge on during cleaning.
Open the cartridge access door and wait until the carriage is idle and silent.
Disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer.
Remove the cartridge and place it on a piece of paper with the nozzle plate facing up.
NOTE:Do not leave the cartridges outside of the printer for more than 30 minutes. If the cartridge is outside of the printer for too long, the ink can dry and clog the nozzles.
Dip a clean foam-rubber swab or lint-free cloth into distilled water, and then squeeze any excess water from it.
    Clean only the copper-colored contacts
    Figure : Clean the contacts
    Copper-colored contacts
    Ink nozzles (do not clean)
Repeat these steps for the other cartridge.
Lightly moisten another cotton swab with distilled water, and then squeeze any excess water from the swab.
Use the swab to clean the electrical contacts in the carriage, located inside the printer on the carriage slots.
Figure : The electrical contacts in the cartridge slots
Wait 10 minutes to allow the cartridge and carriage electrical contacts to dry.
    Reinstall the cartridges.
    Close the cartridge access door.
Reconnect the power cord to the back of the printer.
Press the Power button to turn on the printer.
    Try to print a page.
If you are still unable to print, repeat these steps to clean and reseat the cartridges. Multiple cleanings might be necessary to restore printing.
Black cartridges only: remove and rest for two hours
NOTE:The procedure below will not fix missing lines or streaked bars printed by the tri-color, photo, or gray photo cartridges, or other color printing problems. Only perform the steps below if the black print cartridge has printed defective patterns, or if you notice non-uniform black text darkness.
In the black print cartridge, this problem may be caused by sediments collecting in the nozzle area. Follow the steps below to solve this problem:
    Remove the black print cartridge.
If the carriage has a latch, relatch it and then close the printer - this is important. If the printer is not closed, it cannot adequately protect the remaining tri-color cartridge.
Place the cartridge on a level surface with the nozzles up (label down).
Figure : Cartridge with the nozzles up
Allow the cartridge to sit undisturbed for two hours.
Reinstall the cartridge and print another self test page.
Click the Windows Start button, then click Control Panel.
Double-click the Printer and Faxes folder.
Right-click the icon for your printer and choose Preferences.
Choose the Services tab and click Service this Device. The printer Toolbox opens.
On the Devices Services tab, click Print a Diagnostic Page.
Look for defects on the page.
If the self test page shows no defects for the black cartridge, and if the cartridge was new, align the cartridge. To align the cartridge, follow the steps below:
    Load fresh, white paper.
Click the Windows Start button, then click Control Panel.
Double-click the Printer and Faxes folder.
Right-click the icon for your printer and choose Preferences.
Choose the Services tab and click Service this Device. The printer Toolbox opens.
On the Device Services tab, click Align the Printer.
If the cartridge was not new, there is no reason to align the printer.
If the page still shows defects, go to the next step.
    Replace the problem cartridge
If a cartridge replacement was not tried previously to solve this problem, replace the problem cartridge now. Click here (c00206040) (in English) to see if the cartridge is covered under warranty.

  • HP PSC 1317 All-In-One Problems

I am using a HP PSC 1317 All-In-One printer located on my Windows network, Mshome, connected to my Desktop Computer (PC). Using two Windows-powered laptops with the HP PSC printer being 'Shared' I am successfully able to print out documents over the network, wirelessly.
Today I have spent most of my time trying to get this same result using my PowerBook G4.
I connect to my Network, Mshome, open up a document and select print. My current printer is not listed so I click to add one. I then go through the steps required to add a printer to my PowerBook over the network. This all goes well until is lists it as 'Generic' to which I open up and select HP. I scroll up and down the list umpteen times to find my printer model is not listed so for most of my day I have been trying out official HP drivers for OS X for my model of printer including 3rd party drivers that all don't seem to work.
I bit the bullent and decided to install the printer directly via USB on to my PowerBook. Despite installing unwanted applications on my PowerBook that works and I can print out successfully. Using this same method, I try to add the printer over the network, with it still plugged in to my PowerBook, thinking that I would be able to locate the drivers, but still no luck (or no idea where these drivers will be located). I give up and plug the printer back in to my Desktop PC and then try to add it using the same process before but unable to locate the required drivers and the product model under HP.
I am totally clueless as to what I can do to have my PowerBook print out my work wirelessly using my HP PSC 1317 All-In-One printer using my Windows Network, Mshome.
Usually I am quite quick to fixing these sort of computer/hardware-related problems but this one simply has me stumped. Any help and adive on this would greatly help and end a wasted day.
    Regards,
    Steve

There was no PSC 1310 model choice in the menu. Deskjet 900 series doesn't work and, yes, at one point I did install Ghostscript. My printer does, however, work on the Windows network using multiple computers and laptops running Windows. Nevertheless, connecting to the network and using the printer using my PowerBook doesn't.
Nevermind. My alternative is that I can send my printable documents to a Windows computer on the network to print out. Nothing I cannot bypass anyway.
    Thanks for the help.
