HP PSC 2175 Problems....

I am trying to set up my PSC 2175 printer through my print server on my network and am about to pull my hair out!
No matter what i do i cannot seem to get it to work; here is what i have done.
I downloaded the new software from HP and hooked up the printer via USB. I was able to make it print from there so then i unplugged the printer from the computer and hooked it into my print server in the hopes that i could go to that printer in my list and switch it from USB to network printing. Unfortunately, this was not the case. I can't switch it.
So, then i add a new printer and hook it up to the print server and it found it with no problem except the proper driver is not able to be chosen for this networked printer. When i had it plugged in via USB it said HP all-in-one 3.1.0 or something along those lines but when i do it through the network it makes me pick a generic postscript pritner option; i don't want that so i go down the list to HP which brings up another list. However, here is where it once again derails. There are plenty of HP printers in the list but no all in one PSC printers. I go to the website and it says that Tiger supports it and you don't need any additional software but i am not seeing it on the list.
I have reset my printing system and re-installed the HP printer driver package from my Tiger disc but still that does not fix the problem.
if you have any ideas i would be more than happy to work with you to try and figure this out because i am about to the end of the line with this.
Thanks
joe

  • HP PSC 2175 problems in Windows 8

    Hello everybody.
I own a HP PSC 2175 since 2002; I've used this printer in Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7 before moving to Windows 8 (and soon to Windows 8.1). I've always been very satisfied with this device.
According to the informations posted on the Microsoft Windows Compatibility Center web site, this all-in-one printer is fully compatibile with Windows 8; HP web site indicates the list of drivers and provides informations about installing the driver for this device by using Windows Update in Windows 8.
Everything was fine during the installation, but I've suddenly noticed that the printer cannot scan via TWAIN, so it's impossibile for me to scan a document either via the Windows Fax and Scan app or via Windows Paint or via other programs (like Adobe Acrobat and Adobe Photoshop).
I use to visit the HP support page for the printer and check for newer and updated versions of the driver, but there is not such.
Should I have to think about replacing this printer with a newer one?
    Thank you.
    Bye.

  • Problems with HP PSC 2175 & HP OfficeJet 6110

I have been unable to get my HP PSC 2175 or OfficeJet 6110 All In One printers to work with my Airport Extreme base station. I have been trying to add the printers on a 12" G3 iBook and G5 iMac (with Panther OS) and a 14" G4 iBook (with Tiger). Neither one will work with the printers connected to the Airport Base Station.
The computers would not even recognize the HP PSC 2175 printer through Rendevous or Bonjour. We switched printers and have been trying the OfficeJet 6110, it is recognized in Rendevous on the G3 ibook and G5 iMac, but they will not add the printer because they cannot find the printer driver, even though I have installed the software for hte printer, and downloaded the newest driver. The 14" G4 iBook will also recognize the 6110 in Bonjour, and apparently finds the driver, but when you try to print, nothing happens... the print job keeps stopping, and will not print.
Any ideas on what the problem is or how to get these printers to work with the Airport Base Station... gosh this is frustrating! Hardly any printers seem to work with the Airport!

  • My psc 2175 has a problem with ghost paper jams

my psc 2175 displays paper jam yet there is no paper jam.  when i press enter the page that was partially out is drawn back into the printer and then is discharged.

My niece had something similar on her original MBP, and she was told that it was the result of pressure being exerted on the display, like would happen if it were carried in a bag with books. Can you think of any circumstance where your Mac might have been pressured, possibly while in its bag?
My guess is that this is a problem with the display rather than with the graphics card. Have you tried an external display? Graphics card problems tend to also manifest themselves on an external display.
This does not look like the typical spot that you see when there is a bright light shining from the other side of the display. You can certainly cover up the apple with something opaque to eliminate any possibility of this artifact being related to anything shining through the it.
Since the apple is in the middle of the display, it may also represent a point at which external pressure could cause more deflection, and possibly do some damage.
You might try running the extended version of the Apple Hardware test, just in case something might show up in the form of an error code.
    Good luck!

  • My HP PSC 2175 printer spits out blank paper while I try to print.

I have Windows XP service pack 3. My printer(HP PSC 2175 All-in-one) use to work well until few days before. I leave the printer unused for few days and now when I came back to use it , it simply picks up paper scans( a ledger like light runs to and fro at the top end of paper) and spits the paper out. This  only happens when I try to print. I can still make black copies well from the same machine. I only have Note pad and Word Pad. It does the same with both. I tried with pdf document too. It still persists its problem. But if I open the Hp service tool box through printing preference and print the test page it prints.
I have tried every thing that I can do. I've repalced the new cartiage, uninstalled the existing driver softer and installed new from hp website. Updated them and what not.
Can you tell me what is wrong with my printer? pls.

    Hi,
It looks like you've tried some of the troubleshooting steps listed in this document, but there are a few more to try first.  Click on the + besides the XP section and follow the steps in order.  See if this helps, if it doesn't I'll look for some more.

  • HP PSC 2175 stopped printing from computer

I have an HP PSC 2175.  It's worked just fine until the other day.  Now it won't print anything from the computer.  I can print a test page from the printer itself, but it won't print a test page went sent from the computer.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers.  Tried rebooting both my computer and printer and nothing happens.  I use Vista and the printer is connected via USB.  Not sure what the issue is, but I NEED my printer to work!  Any suggestions?

I am struggling with the same problem with my HP2355. I was in touch with HP support with a Mac expert. He told me that there are no driver updates available for this all in one product and he told me to look for an open source driver (sic!). My all-in one is printing and copying, but he doesn't make a scan since I upgraded my Macbook Pro to Leopard. The only thing I (you?) can do is waiting for versiontracker to come up with an open source driver. PC people (Vista) had the same problem, it is a small consolation, but I bought yesterday a Canon (inktjet printer) instead of a HP. HP for sure knows how to retain customers. good luck Gerard.

  • HP PSC 2175 All-in-one prints blank pages from word, chrome and notes

My HP all-in-one printer PSC 2175 all-in-one has suddenly decided to print blank pages.
So far I've tried printing from Word, Notes and Photoshop but come up with nothing.
It prints test pages and diagnostic pages without any problems and it makes direct copies without problems.
The diagnostic tool can't find anything wrong.
I've run all the software I could find on Swedish HP.
I've reinstalled the printer, reinstalled Word, repaired Windows, nothing helps.
I have Windows XP, fully updated.
    Any suggestions?

  • HP PSC 2175 spits out blank paper while I print.

I have Dell GX520 Desktop PC with Windows XP service pack 3 and HP PSC 2175 all-in-one printer. Since few days I m having trouble printing with my printer. When I try to print it simply picks up the paper scans it and spits out  blank paper instead of printing it. There is no any error message or flashing light or any thing in the printer.
But still I can make copy or print the test page from it. The only thing is I can't print any document from WordPad or NotePad or through Adobe Reader. I don't have Office on my PC.
I have tried every thing that I can do. Uninstall the driver and reinstalled  it  downloading from HP website, updated the drivers manually, replaced new cartridges and what not. But I still have the problem. It would be so helpful if you have any solution to this problem.

    I'm having the same problem....
The computer is a hp pavilion.
When trying to print, It loads the paper, It checks the paper position, then it just ejects the paper.
I opened the print job que and watched it.
When the print job ques up, it shows the job...then deletes the job before printing it.
It has been working fine up until a few days ago.
    Any help would be appreciated.

  • Windows Printing w/ HP PSC 2175, prints, but settings are weird?

I have an hp psc 2175 printer connected to a PC computer running on XP on my wireless/wired network. (I have a linksys wireless-g router; i connect wirelessly, and the PC is hooked in through one of the four ports on the back WRT54G). I am trying to set up windows printing so that I can print wirelessly through it. I have already set it up without any problems on three other PC laptops and they all print fine. I had initially had some problems with my mac, but then I downloaded the hpijs and ESP ghostscript from http://www.linuxprinting.org/macosx/hpijs/ , however, now that it does print, it is as if it is using three times the ink on each page!! Every page that prints from my computer is as if the words are allin bold. This does not happen from any of the PC laptops, just from my Powerbook. Is there anyway I can change the settings on the remote printer, or what should I do??
    Thank You

    oh-oh. Danger, Will Robinson! Danger!

This is because HP's Windows drivers support sharing over the network. (Most of them do, anyway. Some don't. But the printers which can't be shared over the network usually have some kind of a warning in the fine print on the box or on the online blurb.)
    I had initially had some
    problems with my mac,
This is because HP's Mac drivers do NOT support sharing over the network. (There are exceptions, but most HP inkjets don't do OS X sharing out of the box.) Note that HP does not warn Mac users about this.
    but then I downloaded the
    hpijs and ESP ghostscript from
    http://www.linuxprinting.org/macosx/hpijs/ ,
however, now that it does print, it is as if it is
using three times the ink on each page!!
That's strange. It's not supposed to do that. There's something set funny in the printer setup.
    Every page
that prints from my computer is as if the words are
allin bold. This does not happen from
any of the PC laptops, just from my Powerbook. Is

The HPIJS drivers use CUPS and GhostScript. That means that you can play with the settings (IF you know what you're doing!) from the CUPS printer page on your Mac. (Open a web browser, type in http://127.0.0.1:631/.) This site may be of some assistence. <http://www.cups.org/> This PDF file may also help. <http://www.oreilly.com/catalog/lunixpanther/chapter/ch05.pdf>
    And then there's this: <http://www.mandrake.demon.co.uk/Apple/osxprint.html>
Note that you'll have to be handy with the command line to use either of the last two.

  • Psc 2175 windows 7 64 bit - stopped printing

I have an HP PSC 2175 all-in-one printer/scanner/copier. I use an HP Spectre 13 ultra book w/ Win7 Pro, SP1. Windows says the driver is working, printing to port USB001 (virtual printer port) The printer used to work fine, then it stopped. I suspect a windows update broke the driver somewhere, but since the driver is now bundled with the OS I cannot uninstall and reinstall. All I can do is remove the printer and then re-add it, which hasn't worked.
The symptoms are that when printing from Word or PDF a few lines might print in huge font across the top or bottom of the page, and a bunch of blank pages spit out. Using HP Print and Scan Doctor it says it's going through fixing errors, but the test page spits out 2 blank pages. Windows test print spits out 3 pages, 2 blank and one with a single line in huge font across the top. Printing a test print from Notepad also produces 2 blank pages.
Now even Devices and Printers under Control Panel is unresponsive. I'm submitting this, I guess I'll reboot. If anyone has any suggestions I'd appreciate it.
    Thanks

  • How can I print web pages with HP psc 2175 printer?

    Hi,
I'm having difficulty printing web pages with my HP psc 2175 printer. The printer spits out many pages before the actual page I want printed and then at times it doesn't print all of the section desired.
In fact, when I copied one page the other day, saved it as a pdf file to my computer, opened the file and the document still would not print.
Anyone have any idea what could be happening?
    Lee

I have a strange issue - I am also using HP Envy 100 410A and its prints fine from iPad2. But when I try to print from my Gen 1 iPad, it goes thru the motions (shows the printer, allows to select which pages to print, double sided print etc.) but the printing actually doesn't hapen.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks

  • HP Printer PSC 2175 Color Management

I use raw images from my Canon. In Photoshop Elements v 5, I have color management set to "optimised for printing".
Tutorials on color management advise to de-activate any attempt by the printer driver to manage color. My HP printer driver (PSC 2175) has two options under Color Management: Automatic, or manual.
Under manual I can choose a color profile. The sRGB profile is included, and I can add the AdobeRGB1998 profile.
If I work with PE as described, what is the correct setting for the printer?

With an HP, I think you are probably best off choosing Printer Color Management in PE's print preview and then experimenting with the settings in the driver. Auto is usually not bad, really, since HP traditionally has tried to create a workflow that doesn't require a lot of user intervention.

  • When printing/copying pages come out blank on hp psc 2175

When I print or copy the printer processes a page like it is printing but the pages are blank.  The ink cartridges are new and the print head (?) goes across the page like it is printing.  The printer is an hp psc 2175 and I am using windows 7.  The last thing I did on this printer before it would not print/copy was to scan several documents using Windows Live Photo Gallery and this scanned correctly.  What can I do to get it to print/copy again?
    Thanks!

When the printer is not printing black ink and printing out blank sheets ... beware the cartidge sometimes does not insert in proper alignment even though you hear the click. Look closely at the cartridge after you insert it. Make sure it is not slightly tilted. And make sure it is dead center, not further to one side than the other because it will not make proper contact. Also 2 more good suggestions here... http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Ink-Toner-Cartridge-Printhead/HP-Officejet-6500-Wireless-will-not-print...
PS- the HP 1210 will print without the color cartridge installed!
Also it is not that hard to refill cartridges yourself. Look how much ink you get for so cheap... http://www.amazon.com/gp/search?ie=UTF8&tag=ie8search-20&index=blended&linkCode=qs&camp=1789&creativ...

  • "Stuttered" printing in middle of page on psc 2175 all in one

I have been very happy with my 2175 for several years.
Then today I have experienced all kinds of problems.
A lot of noises, best described as Grinding.  Also, the msg "Open door, clear carriage jam then press enter, -- following which I would get a msg to the effect of "Close cartridge Door, etc."
I have went through the procedures (several times) found on the website for trouble shooting the problems including doing the "cleaning procedures", (including cartridges and  paper rollers/wheels doing a through search for any paper jams etc . (none found),doing all the power off- power on -- cycling suggestions.
Right now, I have been able to print without strange noises, But I have "stuttered" printing in the middle of page of any printed document -- a MS Word Letter, or a printed webpage for example .  By "Stuttered" I mean a slight shift and reprint of characters.
The shift is much less than a standard character width on some documents consisting of only 2 or 3 characters.   By middle of page,  I mean the stuttering is confined to about 10 per cent of the page width - and right in the middle.  The Left and right  sides of the printed document appear fine.
Is it time for a new printer?  I hope not.
    Thanks,

Gently clean the encoder strip as described here.  Heed the warnings, the strip is fragile and can be damaged by rough handling.
