HP PSC 2355 Constant Paper Jam

I keep getting a paper jam error, yet there's no jam.
When the paper gets sucked in, there's a short creaking type noise (can upload sound file if needed) it takes the paper, spits it back out half way & then jams. Keeps doing this.
Any idea of likely cause & fix?

Try resolving the issue as described in these troubleshooting pages.

  • Officejet Pro L7780 shows constant paper jam, but no jam present.

I have been using this printer for the last 3 years, and except for some minor problems, it has been working fine, but in the last weeks it has shown "paperjam" over and over, and now it will not even allow any printing after startup.
It constantly shows the back of the machine, but there is nothing wrong there.
I have taken the paper out of the trays, blown out the open areas, checked the head travel, and taken the collator off the back, removed the bottom tray holder and bottom paper section, but nothing seems to make a difference, it keeps on giving the picture of the back detachable piece. (Note. finally got it working again, but would hate to shut the power off now)
I have even tried installing the latest firmware, and it did work well for a moment or two, but then it started back up again.
For the cost of this printer, I would hate to throw it away, and I will not buy an HP printer for this cost anymore, if they basically fail disastrously after 2 to 3 years. Any comments what sensors I should be looking at?
Or what would be the cost of having it checked out and repaired? (Note, I talked to HP, they suggested NO repair, and to purchase the Tech. Support pack for $37 for the year, or purchase an AIO 8500 for $399 minus $100 discount.)
The cost was about $299 ONLY three years ago!
Is there a way to figure out which sensor is the problem?
Note 1. Got it working, and it shows event 69556/69924 sequences, so it is probably still a firmware glitch.
It either shows Repeated False Paper Jam or Improper Power messages, so that might explain the sequences in the event log.
Note 2. I noticed the problem seems to be on startup, when I finally get it working, it seems to work fine, but when I shut the power down and start it back up, the problem re-appears. So it must be somewhere in the firmware on startup doing the checks having a problem, but once she gets going again, she is fine.

    Hi @AdLive
I suspect your question would be better answered in the HP Enterprise Business Community, as your HP Printer is a commercial model.
My technical expertise is with consumer products and software, I am sure the commercial folks would be happy to help if you re-post your question for them to answer. The HP Enterprise Business Community is an HP Forum designed for the Commercial and Enterprise customers to help one another. I am sure you will find some HP folks there to help too.
Click here to view the Printing and Digital Imaging. When the page opens you will see the option to 'Log in' or 'Register Now' on the right. The commercial forums are separate from the consumer boards, thus you will need to register if you don't already have a commercial account.
You may find the HP Officejet Pro X576dw Multifunction Printer support page helpful while you wait for somebody in the commercial Forum to respond to your inquiry.

  • My psc 2175 has a problem with ghost paper jams

my psc 2175 displays paper jam yet there is no paper jam.  when i press enter the page that was partially out is drawn back into the printer and then is discharged.

My niece had something similar on her original MBP, and she was told that it was the result of pressure being exerted on the display, like would happen if it were carried in a bag with books. Can you think of any circumstance where your Mac might have been pressured, possibly while in its bag?
My guess is that this is a problem with the display rather than with the graphics card. Have you tried an external display? Graphics card problems tend to also manifest themselves on an external display.
This does not look like the typical spot that you see when there is a bright light shining from the other side of the display. You can certainly cover up the apple with something opaque to eliminate any possibility of this artifact being related to anything shining through the it.
Since the apple is in the middle of the display, it may also represent a point at which external pressure could cause more deflection, and possibly do some damage.
You might try running the extended version of the Apple Hardware test, just in case something might show up in the form of an error code.
    Good luck!

  • Photosmart c7180 paper jams & wrong paper size errors

About 5 weeks ago I bought an ASUS computer with Windows 7, 64 bit and installed the drivers for my printer from the hp website. The printer is hooked up to my wireless network. No problem. 3 weeks later I have constant paper jams, I did the standard clean out paper, clean dust off of rollers and while on, unplug plug from back of printer then from outlet and wait a bit then plug back in. I was able to print a test page then it started happening again, sometimes reporting a paper jam error, sometimes a wrong size paper error, and sometimes an out of paper error.  I also noticed that the rollers seem to be trying to grab the paper really fast (faster than they normally did). I have had this printer for many years-not even sure how many-and have hardly had an issue with it ever. I love it.

  • HP PSC 2355 all-in-one Paper Jam Error

Hi. I have an HP PSC 2355 all-in-one printer that has worked well for a long time but when i switched it on today to do some printing, it made some strange noises and when i tried to print it sent an error saying there was a paper jam - but there was not !
It feeds a sheet of paper in about half way through then stops and the error is displayed.
I tried doing a copy, and the exact same thing happens.

  • HP PSC 2355 troubles - Display shows a constant "load paper" message...

... even though the tray is full.
Have had it five years.  Worked fine until a few days ago; then, first a paper jam message, then check color cartridge, now "load paper".  Have gone thru all on-line troubleshooting steps, taken the back off, cleaned the rollers, etc.  No good.
Is this printer at the end of its useful life?  Thanks for any advice.

Hello jlstchris and welcome to the HP forums!
I'm sorry to hear that your printer is not pulling the paper as it should but I would like to lend a hand and see if we can determine what the problem is
I'd first like to test the hardware to see if it's related to the hardware of the printer or the software. To test this, the first thing I will recommend is that you plug the printer directly to a wall outlet to ensure it is getting all the power it needs to function. Once it's plugged directly to a wall outlet, please try Printing a Self-Test Report directly on the printer to see if it's able to print that page successfully or not. If it prints successfully, please try printing from the computer again.
If it does not print properly I will suggest that you then try the steps within this More Than One Page at a Time Feeds Through the All-in-One document as it will walk you through cleaning the rollers and inspecting the inside of the printer.
If the problems still persists after that, please try Performing a Partial Reset to see if that will clear the message.
Hope to hear back from you soon, hopefully with good news

  • Paper Jam for HP PSC 1610 All-in-One Printer

Paper Jam for HP PSC 1610 All-in-One Printer:
I had a paper jam and cleared the paper from the printer.  Now every time I turn the printer "on" it picks up the top piece of paper from the tray and runs it about ½  to ¾ of the way thru the paper feed, stops, and then displays message "paper jam clear paper and then press OK".  When I do that it simply picks up the next piece of paper off the tray and does the message again.  If I push the OK button on the printer it will simply finish the ejection and then pick up the next paper from the tray, and do the same thing.  I have examined the interior (and exterior) of the printer for paper scraps and  any other obvious sign of trouble (dirty drive wheels, missing rollers, broken springs, etc...) and can not see anything unusual. I can not print a test print because of the paper jam message.  I am running Windows XP and the printer has been working fine for months (until this recent jam).  I did all the steps from the HP fix it site including clean rollers, plug and unplugged,  carriage travel OK and more. Don't know what to do now........Any help would be great!!!!   Thank you!

  • Help with recurring paper jam on psc 2410

My printer is an HP psc 2410 all in one photosmart and I get a recurring paper jam.  The paper stops feeding half way through and I get a message that the printer is out of paper.  When I open the back, I see that the paper is half way through and I can grab the paper and pull it out. When I close it up, the printer wants to align cartridges and I hit ok and then it feeds the paper through and here we go again....same jam, same place.  I went through the whole tech support lists of what to do if you have a paper jam and nothing worked and then they said my printer needed service.  It is not under warranty anymore, of course, and they want me to pay around $30 just to find out if it can be fixed. Does anybody know what is wrong with my printer and how to fix it??

Printers usually have different paper pick torque levels depending on the paper type it is trying to print on. Check the print properties to make sure that the paper type chosen is the correct one for the type you are printing on. As a test, load some plain paper in the input tray, open a MS Document, click print, click print properties, go to the Features tab, change the paper type to plain and then press Apply. Print out the document and hopefully this time it does not jam.

  • Continuous Paper Jam on HP Photosmart 6510 (CQ761A)

    Hi all!
Hoping for some guidance.  I am out of warranty and hoping someone has an idea. Here is what I'm up against.
After a large double-sided printing job my printer starting jamming. If I print just one page, the printer will print the page and then either suck the page back in OR will try to keep pulling more pages through resulting in a multiple page jam. Sometimes the display will say something about letting the Ink dry before it gets jammed again. Sometimes there is also a noise with the papers - kind of like a clicking sound as if something was stuck/jammed/unhappy.
I've done all the steps (except getting it serviced) provided in the hp link (http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c02885398&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&product=5058336&tmp... to no avail.
Any ideas or have you come across this? Does it mean my printer has died - I heard these types usually only last a few years and aren't worth the expense of getting repaired. Is that your experience?
    Thank you!

I am having exactly the same issue (constant paper feeding, ticking, jams), and tried all the steps (cleaning, looking for paper bits, resetting, checking the rollers), and I am still having issues.  Did you ever get an answer?
We find we can print one page at a time, if we only insert one piece of paper at a time.  Obviously, not a good solution if you have more than a few pages to print.
I was wondering if it has anything to do with the paper I am using.  Are there recommendations on what types of paper to use (or not to use)?
