hot keys- like Fn+F1 for hibernate, is not functioning

Hi @imman ,
Welcome to the HP forum!
I understand that your hot keys are not functioning.  When I checked the specifications for your notebook, I see it came with Free Dos.

  • Why is it not possible to assign a hotkey to onion skinning? (For toggling on/off)

In Flash CS6 when animating frame-by-frame by hand, I'm constantly toggling onion skinning on and off, and the same with the "loop" button right next to it for looping a certain range of frames. Neither of these appears to be assignable to a hotkey, meaning I need to take the mouse/pen away from the drawing and hit these buttons several times a minute, really putting a damper on the workflow.
Might we be able to get this in the next patch? It seems like a no-brainer, especially for a program that many people use for hand-drawn animation projects.

    Hi Steve -
Thanks for the info. I have a few more questions...
    Andy,
Yes, this is exactly the issue. Currently I am
invoking the UIX servlet not as a registered portlet
but as a hard-coded URL link on the portal page. Are you saying that in order to access the UIX application, the user clicks on a link which navigates out of Portal? If so, is this by design, or did you go this route because of problems creating a portlet for your UIX servlet? That is, would you prefer to have your UIX application run inside of Portal as a portlet, or do you explicitly not want this?
Also, can you provide more background about your deployment environment? In particular, is the UIX application running locally on the same machine as Portal, or remotely on another machine? Is the UIX application running in the same application server/servlet engine as Portal?
The application runs connected to the database but
without the context of the SSO Portal user. I want to
be able to display the Portal username on the uix
pages, have the VPD context in the database
connection (we have striped the tables but it only
works if connected via Portal!!) and potentially have
access to some of the extended Portal functionality
in the JPDK (this last one a "nice to have").Unfortunately I have no idea whether this is possible, so I'm not going to be much help on my own. The best I can do is try to track down someone who can actually speak to this issue. However, given the lack of documentation and the fact that you weren't able to get a solution through support, I wouldn't be suprised to find that this type of integration simply isn't supported yet.
I think you mentioned in the TAR that you had seen support for similar integration with Struts. If you know of documentation which shows how to do this type of thing with Struts, could you point me at it?

  • [SOLVED] Hotkeys on Asus 1015 PEM

    Hey everyone,
So i've been trying to install arch linux on my Asus netbook (ASUS 1015 PEM) and it's been working spectacularly well. Things have just been working that I wouldnt've expected, and it's really great. My only problem is that I'm currently unable to get my hotkeys to work well. Specifically, the one to blank the screen doesn't work and the sound ones are laggy/buggy.
I followed the guide here to get acpi-eeepc-laptop working:
    https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php … 43#p881743
and it got a lot of my buttons working. The sound ones work (increase volume, decrease volume, and mute) but they are really buggy. Specifically, they're slow to react and it seems like they almost stack; if i hit increase volume 10 times but the volume is maxed out after 5 times, i have to lower the volume 5 times before i can actually lower the volume. It's like I have to cancel out the other 5 times. It's really peculiar and I was wondering whether anyone has run into similar problems and found a solution.

Okay, I was able to fix the issue by disabling the volume commands in etc/conf.d/acpi-eeepc-generic.conf (as shown in the code)
    COMMANDS_MUTE=("")
    COMMANDS_VOLUME_DOWN=("")
    COMMANDS_VOLUME_UP=("")
and then having openbox bind the volume keys to commands (amixer sset Master toggle, amixer sset Master 5%+, etc.).
It's a workaround but it works.
As for blanking the screen it's not the biggest issue in the world so i'll probably leave it for another time.

  • Is there a way to hotkey between Input Methods?

    Dear all,
My macbook air has a JIS/Japanese keyboard.  I use two IMEs which translate to “Select Word” (I’ll call it ‘Japanese IME’) and “Chinese Word-Complex Characters” (I’ll call it ‘Chinese IME’).
The Japanese IME uses hotkeys such as “ctrl+shift+k” and“ctrl+shift+j” to switch between Japanese writing styles.
For the Chinese IME, I only use one method, chongkit, its hotkey is “ctrl+shift+c”.
While using the Japanese IME, “ctrl+shift+c” does not activate chongkit.  I have to use my mouse and click select from the options in the top right.  Likewise, while using the Chinese IME, I cannot hotkey the Japanese writing systems.
The issue is clear… the Chinese and Japanese IMEs do not interact.
It is easy for me to exit the Chinese IME.  The JIS keyboard has keyboard keys that can put me in English or Japanese.
I write English (including this posting) with the Japanese IME’s roman character option.
So, is there a way I can hotkey chongkit from the Japanese IME?
Or, is there a way I can hotkey switching between IMEs?
Note, this is not an issue specifically about Japanese and Chinese IMEs, this is an issue with IMEs in general.
    Thank you

The option that you referenced only cycles between your two most recently used input styles.  It does not change the IME, unless one of the recent ones was coincidently from another IME.  If the combination is pressed shortly after starting the system, then it only cycles through English and a Japanese phonetic system.  Anyway, this is not what I need.
If command is held and then space bar is pressed, a box appears that permits me to cycle through all styles, I can eventually get to chongkit.  Also, alt+command+space cycles through all the options without the box.  It is better than the mouse, but I would rather cycles the IMEs.
The goal is to go immediately from the Japanese IME to the Chinese IME, not cycle around styles within one IME.

  • Hotkey (Ctrl+B) is not working after migration from Forms 6i to 10g

    Dear Gurus,
Need your help regarding the following problem:
After migrating from Forms 6i to 10g (Rel 2), Ctrl+B (used to list the blocks in a form) hotkey is not working anymore (all other hotkeys are working fine). I've checked my FMRWEB.RES and it contains an entry for Ctrl+B:
    66 : 2 : "Ctrl+B" : 70 : "Block Menu"
    Additional Information:
    OS: AIX
    NLS_LANG = UTF8
fmrweb_utf8.res also contains the same text for Ctrl+B as above.
I tried to reproduce it on my Windows Machine (with NLS_LANG set to AMERICAN_AMERICA.WE8ISO8859P1) and its not working as well. I don't have right to put move files on AIX server but i can try anything (on my local system) suggested by the Oracle gurus.
    Best Regards,

    Dear Gerd,
"are you sure, that it is the hotkey"
Yes, i am dead sure. Since:
    (1) It was working fine in forms 6i
    (2) If you run a form and select Help => Keys, you will see Ctrl+B on the top of list
The problem is its not taking into account the keys which i am defining in the file (although i am following the same procedure detailed on metalink.oracle.com).

  • How do I get my keyboard hotkeys to work on itunes while it's minimized?

On my keyboard I have keys for the normal stuff (pause, play, stop, forward, back) and they all work with itunes but only if itunes is open...which sort of defeats the purpose. Is there a way to get them to work while itunes is minimized to the tray?

I'm trying to find a PC compatible keyboard I can buy that will interact with iTunes while I'm in other applications.
Google "itunes hotkeys windows" and it comes up with several results for third party plugins. (No thanks)
This should be a built in feature IMO. In those plugins they use things like ctrl+inert/pg down/pg up/etc to navigate your music when you're not in the iTunes window.
This is one area where Winamp has an advantage, since it has hotkeys built in.
At work, however, I use a mac with the cast aluminum keyboard that has the pause/play, forward/backward keys built in and they work when I'm in any app. They aren't usually very responsive (I have to tap relatively hard) but they do work.
    For now I'm still browsing.

  • How can I remove a hotkey in Firefox, I don't want anything to happen when i press ALT

When I press ALT the menubar pops up, I use ALT as a PTT button so it is very annoying. I would like to customize the hotkeys for Firefox if possible.

  • Can't get panes to re-size with hotkeys

I have a small annoyance whereby sometimes my hotkeys to re-size existing panes doesn't work.  I had changed the hotkeys to move from pane to pane to be Alt-Left (arrow) and Alt-Right (arrow) key.  After looking at the default settings by running tmux's in-pane help (the hotkey shift-?) I commented those two keys out thinking that would reset tmux to its default behaviour.  It hasn't worked so far and I'm not sure where else to look aside from my .tmux.conf file.  It's based on Thayer's own config:
#~/.tmux.conf - tmux terminal multiplexer config
    # Based heavily on Thayer Williams' (http://cinderwick.ca)
    ## Environmental Options
    # Enable tmux to use a 256 colour terminal
    # Provided the underlying terminal supports 256 colours, it is usually sufficient to add the following to ~/.tmux.conf:
    set -g default-terminal "screen-256color"
    set -g terminal-overrides 'xterm*:smcup@:rmcup@'
    # If you SSH into a host in a tmux window, you'll notice the window title of your terminal emulator remains to be user@localhost
    # rather than user@server. To allow the title bar to adapt to whatever host you connect to, set the following in ~/.tmux.conf
    set -g set-titles on
    set -g set-titles-string "#T"
    # open a man page in new window
    bind m command-prompt "split-window 'exec man %%'"
    ## By default, all windows in a session are constrained to the size of the
    ## smallest client connected to that session, even if both clients are
    ## looking at different windows. It seems that in this particular case, Screen
    ## has the better default where a window is only constrained in size if a
    ## smaller client is actively looking at it. This behaviour can be fixed by
    ## setting tmux's aggressive-resize option.
    setw -g aggressive-resize on
    # mouse-select-pane [on | off]
    # # If on, tmux captures the mouse and when a window is
    # # split into multiple panes the mouse may be used to
    # # select the current pane. The mouse click is also
    # # passed through to the application as normal.
    set -g mouse-select-pane on
    ## Upon starting to use tmux, I noticed that I had to add a noticeable delay
    ## between two characters in a command sequence for it to recognize the
    ## command, for example between the C-a and n in C-a n. This is because tmux is
    ## waiting for an escape sequence. Fix that by setting escape time to zero.
    set -s escape-time 0

In the Motion tab... right click the video in the sequence and send to viewer...
Then under the MOTION tab... twirl down the DISTORT triangle and then check the aspect ratio there... set either to 0, 33 or -33.

  • Is there a way to change the hotkey for starting firefox in safe-mode?

The current default hotkey is shift. Holding it when starting firefox will start it in safe mode (true story). My super duper favorite handy windows hotkey for starting programs pinned to the task bar in windows 7 is windows_key + shift + #, and that conflicts with the firefox setting, and i always end up starting firefox in safe mode because im that lazy.

    Greetings!
I'm an irssi user, and I have awesome mouse gesture addon for it, and I'm afraid I can't live without it anymore.. But it requires Shift key for opening links, therefore Firefox, as my default browser, always starts in Safe mode :(
I'm not a programmer, easiest workaround would be modifying the irssi addon, but I suck on that, too.
If there's a way to bypass Safe Mode in Firefox, or at least a way to change the Shift key to something else, that would make my miserable life a tad easier.

  • Media player hotkeys doesn't work with Windows Media Player 11

    Hi;
I upgraded my windows media player 10 to 11 version. Now my hotkeys doesn't work. I was wondering if there is a way to solve this problem.

    Hi
Do you mean the Toshiba Control buttons which control the WMP function like play, pause, stop, etc
On some Toshiba notebooks the Toshiba control buttons can be configured manually.
Please check this in the control panel -> Toshiba controls.
If you will be not successful I would recommend reinstalling the Toshiba utility again

  • External ThinkPad USB Keyboard with TrackPoint issues with scroll (55Y9003) and hotkeys on a x201

    Hello
Once more there is a glitch with the drivers for this external keyboard 55Y9003.
    I have the drivers:
16.2.19.13 for the ultranav system of the x201
    1.10 for the external keyboard
    My system is XP sp3.
The keyboard of the x201is fine relative to the one  55Y9003.
The scrolling is set to standard for both systems.
Please do not advise to select smooth; it is not a solution and the smooth scrolling has been systematically utterly unusable.
    The issues:
-the hotkeys on the external keyboards are not all working:
basically, fn+f4 and fn+nmlk work but the rest does not (say fn+f8)
-the scrolling of the external keyboard is not at all identical to the scrolling of the x201.
For instance, in pdfs viewed with foxit for instance, I have not a problem to scroll horizontally with the x201 starting with the hand tool.
WIth the external keyboard, whan I press the middle button to activate the scrolling, it remains the hand tool, I can scroll vertically but not horizontally.
FIrefox as also issues whith the middle button.
-the external keyboard still suffers from the sticky shift key.
I know the x201 and the 55Y9003 are no longer fashionable, but  Is there some directly  guy working at Lenovo who could help ?

I have the ThinkPad USB keyboard on a non-Lenovo desktop, and it works.
Yes the keyboard driver installs, but not the Lenovo System Interface Driver, for obvious reasons. All the buttons and TrackPoint work.
Yes the TrackPoint does not scroll in all programs. Search the community for "trackpoint scroll fix" and you will come up with instructions on how to fix this.
    I don't work for Lenovo. I'm a crazy volunteer!

  • W530 Hotkeys stop working with Firefox

    Hey Guys,
I just received my w530 about a week ago and the laptop was pretty fast and everything was working well until I watched a youtube video on Firefox.  When I pressed play/pause on the interface my volume hotkeys on my keyboard wouldn't work.  It would start working again if I clicked on the volume icon.  So I figured I probably just needed an update.  I update the machine and I get even more errors with my machine saying something about some files lost and it was being fixed.
I fully update everything including the BIOS and I'm still gettng the same Firefox problem.  I don't really want to reformat or feel like I should have to reformat a new machine.  I do know that the problem is within FIrefox because I tested it on Chrome and IE and didn't get the same problems....Help anyone?

Did Youtube decide to switch to HTML5 for you? That might be why.

  • [SOLVED] Suspend hotkey broken in gnome 3.2

    Hi,
After upgrading a lot of pacakges, many of them related to gnome 3.2, the hotkey for suspending stopped working. Suspending still works fine using the menu. I have an acer 3820TG laptop, and the hotkey use FN+F4 keys combination. What's strange, though, is that the rest of FN+XX hotkeys still work. Has anyone else experienced something similar? I am looking at the wiki for troubleshooting tips and possible workarounds, but haven't found the reason behind this problem yet. Any help is appreciated,
    jorges
Edit: The issue disappeared after upgrading the system
