  • HP_RECOVERY D: drive has turned red

The Computer is a HP Pavillion dv9500. s/n [Edited for Personal Information] p/n 6Z959EA#ABU
The HP_RECOVERY D: drive has turned red it is showing 400MB free of 6.19GB
I have followed instructions found in other threads and made the files visible, however I cannot find any files relating to "backup" (or files that may not be related to recovery) and therefore am very cautious about moving or deleting any thing for fear of bigger problems.
Can you advise what other steps I may take to get the drive back in the blue
    With Thanks in advance

I cannot help you with your older system -- at least not specifically for the contents in the Recovery folder.
I can show you the kinds of files you might expect to see in a newer Recovery partition so you can get an idea whether you have accidentally stored files of your own into your Recovery partition.  If you have placed personal files into the Recovery partition, you can carefully remove them.
The types of files you might expect to see are listed under the "Name" column.   The dates of the recovery files, although not shown in this example, would ordinarily reflect those dates from when the computer was new -- or near its last install or recovery date.
    I hope this helps.

  • Recovery (D:) has a red bar

I did a partial backup to the Recovery (D) drive back in 2007 and got a backup error of lack of space, I thought I corrected everything by deleting the partial backup but still have a red bar and when I check which files are in the Recovery (D) I notice MediaID BIN File that seems to be added there around the same time I did the partial backup. This MediaID file is a video of the windows media features. There is also a "Configuration settings" file that was just recently added, maybe from an update and it's located as a hidden file. I don't seem to see recovery file that I think is supposed to be there and am wondering if this may be a problem. The Recovery (D) drive shows 599 MG free of 6.26 GB space. Any Ideas on what the problem may be or how to recover the "Recovery file" if I need it, and would reinstallation of the "driver" delete any updates that have occurred over the years.

    Have you Created Recovery Disk?
if yes then there is nothing to worry abt. in this case no need to restore missing file.
backup all the data from your PC (Everything all personal data, pictures, videos everything)
not the programs files only your Personal DATA
Boot your PC from Recovery DISK 1 & run system recovery using Destructive method.
wht this will do is this will delete everything from your laptop then it will create Recovery Partiton again & then Install Factory Default Operating System.
do it only if it is requried otherwise no need to do it.

  • Files have turned red

I've just upgraded to 09 and every page on iWeb has turned red, on both of my computers. I have tried uploading twice to MobileMe. Both times, after an hour or more, I'm told that the site can't be uploaded at this time.
Has this happened to others, I wonder? And does anyone have a solution please?

None of the suggestions offered here, while definitely worth trying, have helped me. Installing & launching iWeb 3/'09 instantly caused all pages and sites to go red, forcing me to re-publish everything.
Why a version upgrade would force a complete republishing of one's entire site seems odd, but the bigger problem for me is that MobileMe seems to refuse to take the re-pub attempt, failing with a different error message regarding a different file every time since Tuesday evening. Not a single one of these files, nor the site in general, gave me any problems under iWeb 2/'08 or prior to Tuesday evening.
The net effect is that my site has been dead for three days, and some part of this equation -- either MobileMe or iWeb 3/'09 -- is rendering it impossible for me to resurrect it.
I did get a small, 1-page, new site to publish last night, but the prospect of having to break down a previously trouble-free blog into tiny, bite-sized chunks is ridiculous. This is not a huge Domain file we're talking about, and no single file is over 2.4MB (an MP3).
I would welcome any suggestions that go beyond basic troubleshooting and address the real, persistent problems that many people here are seeing with iWeb 3/'09 and MobileMe since upgrading.

There's only one thing you can do: make an appointment with Apple genius at the Apple retail store for a out of warranty replacement.

  • Hard Drive Recovery Process has been selected

One day, while playing a game online, the computer screen went black and a blue box appeared that said "Hard Drive Recovery Process has been selected Press Yes if you wish to continue " Also, there was NO which only shut the computer down. YES took me to a blue screen with recovery and troubleshooting options. At first, none of these worked, or stayed. Because the next time I used my computer I would get the same Hard Drive Recovery Process message and had to try various things to make it work. I did purchase a Windows 8.1 recovery flashdrive from Toshiba and attempted to install it. It took about 6 tries for it to completely install. However, after installing, I was unable to use the RESTART option to power off the computer as it would trigger the Hard Drive Recovery Process again ! Ugh ! Last night, I powered the laptop off using SHUT DOWN and in the morning, I got the Hard Drive Recovery Process screen again, much to my horror. I have Norton Internet Security and Anti Virus as well as I used Toshiba maintenance tasks and no problems were found. I would appreciate any information on troubleshooting and repairing this problem, if there is a solution. Thanks !!!!!

I did purchase a Windows 8.1 recovery flashdrive from Toshiba   ...   after installing  ..  it would trigger the Hard Drive Recovery Process again
The fact that the problem remains after restoring the hard disk to its original out-of-the-box contents using Toshiba recovery media means the software doesn't cause it.
    The computer needs servicing.

  • After updating Final Cut X with Libraries feature most of media has turned to red "missing proxy".

I opened Final Cut X this morning and it told me I could not work on my projects until I updated them to Libraries. I made the update and now most everything has the red "missing proxy" screen on it. I am very upset because I have been working on a big project for 2 weeks and cannot work until this is resolved. Where are my projects???? Why is everything in red??? Somebody PLEASE advise!!

This is a very common question and has been answered many times. Have you searched this forum with your query? Did you save your old projects/events or are they in the trash?

I hope I've put enough information about my system to help my request for help. The problem has been going on for some time but has become more frequent, it shows by the pc either creeping along at less than snail pace, or freezing. At the top of the case, inbetween the card reader slots a red light comes on, then it started to flash, then it stays on all the time. I tried reinstalling Vista a couple of months ago and all was fine for a while, then it all started again and got worse, it took about 10 hours to reinstall Vista onto reformatted C Drive and it hung for hours on the completing stage. I turned the power off, left it overnight and the next day I reformatted the C Drive again, it did finally install Vista, this time after about 4 hours but it's still freezing etc. Have tried sfc scannow result was no windows integrity violations I ran Seatools and it said that some areas were difficult to read tried checkdisk, running for 14 hours still on 14% of stage 5 my gut feeling is that the C drive has had it, no complaints because it has done lots of work. My thought is, as there are 2 hard drives the second of which has not had much use, could I remove the current C drive and move the now D drive into the C Drive slot and reinstall Vista on there? My thoughts are that if I can do this and it works then I could buy another drive to put in the D slot, don't want to waste money if it turns out not to be the hard dive. Of course what would be much easier (in theory in my head that knows nothing) would be to just swap the drive letters. Now, when you've all finished rolling about on the floor laughing hysterically (which I probably deserve), can anybody offer me any insights, suggestions or help please? I would be most grateful as I am very close to throwing the pc out of the window.

Your summary and explanation was excellent.  Here is your system (computer).  Do you have the Vista install DVD's?  That is one item you forgot to mention. VIsta has about 20 monthes left in the LIfe Cycle (OS support and updates).
    1) The 2 hard drives have both been spinning. The Vista OS is on "C", although the (2) 500GB hard drives are considered as one hard drive. See RAID 0 here.
    2) The (2) 500GB hard drives are SATAII 3GB/sec.  Newer SATAIII 6GB/sec is not supported by Vista.  Your stuck with trying to locate SATAII 3GB/sec hard drive(s) that are now 3 times the price.
The actual Vista OS is on drive C.   What I am going to recommend is that you swap the data lead on each drive.  Re-install the Vista OS, and then disconnect the former C drive from the system.  BTW -- I found your humor OK.   I am not laughing!!

Disable completely uninstall Krometch AV and firewall software per the instructions on the the app developer's website.
Your ISP's modem and if you use an additonal WiFi router, there are bulit-in firewall protection and there is software there you can access from a web browser to set stronger security from these devices.
OS X doesn't need any additonal third party software firewalls.
Uninstall Trusteer Rapport per the instructions on the software developer's website.
This app, usually, causes problems with any recent version of OS X.
You might want to go though your user login items to see which one's, if any! you really need to have start up once you are initially logged in to your Mac.
    Add or remove automatic items
Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, then click Users & Groups.
Select your user account, then click Login Items.
    Do one of the following:
Click Add below the list on the right, select an app, document, folder, or disk, then click Add.If you don’t want an item’s windows to be visible after login, select Hide. (Hide does not apply to servers, which always appear in the Finder after login.)
Select the name of the item you want to prevent from opening automatically, then click Delete below the list on the right.
You need to update all of your third party software if there are OS X Mavericks updates that can be applied.
You may need to go the third party developers' websites if there are no updates through the Mac App Store.
Update all of your Web browser Internet plugins, also.
Also, if you have any third party devices, like keyboards, mice, drawing tablets, hubs, card  readers, etc, you need to update the drivers for these devices to OS X Mavericks compatible versions.
    Good Luck!

  • I need some help, somebody has turned the restrictions on on my daughters  iPad mini and we don't know the pass code to turn it off.  She has lost the iTunes icon because of this.  Anybody know what to do?  Thanks

Help, somebody has turned the restrictions on on my daughters iPad mini and we don't know the pass code to turn it off. She can't use iTunes because of them being turned on.  I have tried backing it up to a laptop and then restoring it to factory settings but you need the pass code to do this....any ideas how I can turn it off or reset it, anything that might help its driving me potty...
    Many thanks

    Recovery Mode
    1. Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
    2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
    3. While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
    4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears, release the Home button.
    5. iTunes should alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then click Restore to restore the device.
Note: You need to be patient and repeat the above many times to recover your iPad. Data will be lost.

  • Icon turned red after update to 12.0.1.26

My iTunes icon on my desktop turned red after I updated to 12.0.1.26. Does that mean something is wrong with my iTunes? It has never been red before.

My iTunes icon turned red as well after installation but when I tried to open it came back with an error say it was not installed correctly. Has anyone else had rhis problem?
As given, the red icon is by design.
For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
