Hp recovery manager won't recognize my flash drive!

My computer is the HP Pavilion p6-2317c Desktop PC, running windows 8.
I'm trying to create recovery media, and have a 32Gb Sandisk Cruzer Facet that I was intending to use for it. Unfortunately, Recovery manager doesn't recognize the flash drive...it never shows up in the menu at all. The drive shows up when I click the computer icon in the files section, with no issues at all, as you can see.
I haven't created a recovery media set, and it doesn't show the not enough space error, it just doesn't let it show up at all!
What can I do to fix this? I'd really like to make a recovery set, to ward off a visit from the demon in charge of foulups visiting.
This question was solved.

HP is looking into the issues reported on flash drives not working for Recovery creation in Windows 8. I have been told they are working on a patch/upgrade for Recovery Manager.
In the meantime, it has been suggested to either switch to DVD or pick up a flash drive that is NOT logo'd with the Windows 8 compatible icon on package.
If neither of these is acceptable hold out for the coming patch.

  • HP Recovery Manager won't recognize new hard drive

    Hello,
I have a HP Pavilion TouchSmart 14-b173cl Sleekbook.  I purchased a new hard drive and I have ordered a usb recovery kit from HP.
Howevery, when I try to run the recovery manager, it gives the message no hdd.
Also, if I try and do a hard drive check, it says not installed.  It does not detect the hdd.  However, if I put back the original hdd and run the recovery manager, it does recognized it and allows to start the recovery process.
Can anyone help me with this issue?  Why does the laptop does not recognize the new hard drive?
    Thanks!!!

  • Recovery manager won't start for clean reinstall of Windows 7

I have an HP Pavilion Elite HPE-110f that is 4 years old.  Everything was fine until a couple of weeks ago started getting RAID messages on startup and other little qwerky things.  Then last week the dreaded BSOD showed up.  I shut down the computer and tried to restart, but got error messages that the computer couldn't start.  I then tried everything I could think of - startup repair, tried to boot in safe mode, recovery from partitioned drive, system restore - nothing worked.  I have the recovery media from HP but was saving that as my final option.  I tried to do a clean reinstall today from the discs, but now the recovery manager won't even come up.  Can somebody PLEASE help me get my OS back?

No, it wasn't an error message.  It was just notifications about different things being accessed on port1.  I just assumed it was startup items loading, but I had never gotten notifications about them before.  I just tried again to reinstall from recovery discs.  Pressed esc and got the boot menu, selected the dvd drive and you can hear it running, then it slows down to nothing and I get no recovery manager opening.  I turned off the computer again and pressed f9 when I turned it on.  Diagnostic show processor and memory are fine, but I get an error code of "BIOHD-8" on the hard drive.  Any suggestions?

  • My iMac won't read my flash drive

My iMac 27-inch, mid 2011, (OS X version 10.7.4) won't read my flash drives. I don't believe it is a formatting issue of the USB flash drive because the flash drives are easily read on my MacBook Air, 11-inch, late 2010 (OS X version 10.7.4). The drive occasionally will appear on the iMac, but not always, and I can't seem to figure out when it does and when it doesn't. When I use an external hard drive, it appears in the finder.  Just, not the flash drives.  So, I continually have to load from the flash drive to the Air and then connect to the iMac. It's kind of ridiculous. Does anyone have an idea why I can't read the flash drive on the iMac?

Could be a USB port glitch/problem - try these two troubleshooting methods:

    SMC reset:

post back if it still doesn't work.

Hi, since i put some mp4 video or DVD files on my external hard drives final cut prox won't recognize my hard drives, i move all the video files and the problem still exist. somebody have the solution

Did the back and forth between PC and Mac file systems screw up my files somehow?
Yes. Unfortunately the move has almost certainly caused the loss of the resource data that would have been (invisibly) attached to those files.
By adding a specific .mov extension after the fact you will have helped the Mac correctly identify the file type / asscoiations but also significantly you will have physically changed the filename eg from "clip" to "clip.mov". This means that when you come to reconnect the media in FCP , then FCP will be looking for files that no longer exist at the given path eg when specifically looking for our example clip called "clip" of course it won't find it.
Try this as a test... first remove the ".mov" extension from one or more of the clips, select those clips and press Cmd-Opt-I to open an Info window for the selection. You'll see an "Open with:" popup and in that popup you should choose QuickTime Player (if its a Unix Executable then it will initially list Terminal as the appropriate app, you have to choose Other... then in the open dialog choose Enable > All Applications and then navigate to and select the Quicktime Player app as the appropriate app). After you've done that restart FCP and see if you can now reconnect to those clips.

  • IMac won't recognize DVD/CD drive anymore

As the title suggests, my iMac won't recognize my dvd drive anymore.
I don't know what the reason is for it.
I've never had this problem before, it happened a couple weeks ago.
I first noticed this when I tried burning a CD in iTunes.
It said at the top of the screen "Disc burner or software not found..."
I then went to System Profiler and checked "Disc Burning" and it
read, "No burning device was found. If you are using an external device please make sure that it is connected and powered properly." I'm not using an external device. I'm using the DVD drive that originally came with my iMac.
If anyone could please help me out with this I'd be very grateful.

Lately, I left my iMac on while I was sleeping. Couple nights ago, the optical drive made a funny noise and woke me up. It sounds very similar to opening up Disk Utility on my MacBook Pro, it looked for the internal optical drive. First, I didn't do further investigation on my iMac.
Yesterday, I happened to do some 'housecleaning' and attempted to slide in a data CD. The drive didn't response, so the CD was stuck. In the past, I had opened up numerous iMacs and they were getting more complicated model by model. I am certified to perform the repair, but since this iMac is covered under AppleCare, I decided to make an appointment with the MacGenius.
I did perform a PRAM reset earlier.
Do you have 'put the hard disk(s) to sleep when possible' checked under Energy Saver?
Out of all the Macs with slot-load optical drives built-in I have owned, this is the first malfunctioning I have ever had.

  • V Cast Media Manager won't recognize the Fascinate/device driver not downloading(available)

I have installed V Cast media manager to my desktop system.  When I connect my Fascinate, the computer recognizes that "new hardware" is found, but can't locate the driver so it will connect with VCastMM.
Has anyone else experienced this yet?
Is there an easy fix to this?
I did set the USB to sync with media player and that still didn't work.

click on the usb icon on the top of the screen and it should allow you access your phone on ur computer! you dont actually need to use media manager. just open it up as if it were a flash drive.

  • Desktop Manager won't recognize Playbook!

I have a recurring issues for 4 weeks whereby the desktop manager will not recognize my Playbook (PB).
I have uninstalled and reinstalled software.
My PB recognizes my PC upon connection.
My PC makes the standard noise when a USB is connected, but the D-Manager refuses to recognize the PB.  Z drive does not come up either. And in Network Connections I have a LAN3 which recognizes the Reseach in Motion unit.
Plus my BB Bold is recognized.
I have already unistalled and re-installed software.  Nothing seems to work.
I have spent 6 hours with RIM tech support going to the highest of levels and nothing.
    HELP! ;-)
    A

Is the PC a Windows based or MAC based?
What operating system are you using?
If you are using XP, you need to install Service Pack3.
With XP you need to install the latest Framework from MS.  Going from memory I believe it is Framework 4.
If you are on Windows 7 you need the latest Service Pack.
You will need the latest version of the Blackberry Desktop software package installed.
Some older PC computers have issues with newer software even with all the OS updates, and not only with RIM software. This is because of the BIOS and chip set on the mother board. In some cases a BIOS upgrade, plus the OS upgrades will fix this type of thing on an older computer.
I have a twelve your old PIII server using dual processors running on XP-Pro that I still use in my network. There is no possible way I was able to get the Desktop software to properly work on it. It turned out to be a mother board chipset issue. The RIM software works on every other newer computer I have in our system.

  • Desktop Manager Won't Recognize Media Card Installed

I have installed a media card in my device.  I have changed the default storage of new pictures to the card.  I would like to move the other images from device memory to the media card, but Desktop Manager will not recognize the media card is installed.  The media card does contain images, and I have successfully emailed attachments.  How can I get Desktop Manager to recognize the media card?

so after installing the desktop manager, i plugged in my 8700, but the manager wouldn't recognize it. so i installed an older version of the desktop manager (1.0) but that didn't work either.

  • Why won't my Mac Book Pro recognize my Flash Drive?

So I have never experienced this problem before. My flash drives always appeared on my desktop, then one afternoon, my usual flash drive was not showing up on my MacBook, so I assumed it was the flash drive and not my computer. Since that day, I haven't really used a flash drive for anything until today when I tried to save a few photographs on a different flash drive this time. I plugged in the flash drive in both usb ports and still nothing. I cannot find my flash drive anywhere! I checked all my system preferences and everything seems to be right so why am I still having this issue? I don't have a problem when i plug in my ipod or ipad, and I can't find my flash drive in Disk Utilities either.

    Hi all -
I cannot view my flash drive OR my office server, which I should be able to connect to via VPN. VPN was installed on my Macbook Pro at my office on Friday. It worked fine. Now I bring it home, and I connect using VPN, and it shows that I am connected, yet the server hard drive icon does not appear on my desktop (as it usually did) and I can't see how to access the server at work.
I also cannot view flash drives when I plug them in - they just don't show up.
I had Norton installed; I read online I should disable that. I did this, and no luck. I also have already done all the things suggested on this post and have all the boxes checked, and yet, still cannot use a flash drive or access my work server.
I am stuck? Do I have to bring my Macbook pro in for service? I have NOT upgraded to Mavericks.
    Thanks for any help.
I am not that well versed in finding my way around a Mac - so keep any explanations simple, please.

  • MacBook Pro won't recognize 1TB external drive

    Hey team,
My mid-2010 MacBook Pro won't recognize my WD My Passport 1TB drive.  I was copying files from the drive to my computer when my computer went to sleep (didn't run out of power, just went to standby mode).  Turned computer back on and now it won't recognize the drive.
It is a USB 3.0 cord (computer is only USB 2.0 and the cord works with other drives) and when plugged in, the light turns on and the disk spins but isn't recognized my this or other computers (also not in Disk Utility).
Tried a handful of disk recovery programs but nothing wants to 'see' the disk plugged in.
Thanks for any and all suggestions.

yes yes yes,   I warn people about WD drives on this link:
Your dead external hard drive is likely fine! Great hope for your 'faulty' external HD
    theReKleiner wrote:
    What now?
Only option is to buy the SAME exact HD and swap controller boards,  or pay someone a LOT more $$$ to do the same thing.
its not soldered there, its just a controller/ SATA  "one piece"
They do that to save 50 cents in mfg. costs.
I mention your "issue" in that link.    Which is why you do NOT buy WD ext. HD.
they make the controller board and SATA card one piece.
CURRENT MFG. THAT HAVE controller board and SATA cards as one piece are :  WD USB drives, and Toshiba USB Canvio
However Toshiba didnt USED to do that, but they started doing it at the end of 2013.
    avoid those 2.
To avoid that nonsense, buy Hitachi drives in USB.
    Or, the best option:
Save money and invest in a bare hard drive backup and redundancy plan
    Its cheaper
    less fuss
more reiable, removes the nasty failure point of SATA card interfaces.
    takes up lot less space.
Bare hard drives and docks. The most reliable and cheapest method of hard drive data storage, archives, and redundancies
The best method for your data archives and redundancies, which is also the least expensive, the most reliable, and the most compact option is the purchase of naked hard drives and at least one USB 3.0 HD dock ($40 roughly).
While regarding Time Machine and your Macbook or desktop, your primary backup is best saved to a conventional USB (or Firewire / thunderbolt) hard drive inside an enclosure, the most important part of your data protection begins after your 1st / primary Time Machine / backup; and these are your secondary (most important) data storage devices, archives and their redundancies.
However bare hard drives and docks (below) also work perfectly as a Time Machine backup, this is for home use, since the docking station is certainly not very portable as a notebook Time Machine backup device should be; nor should bare HD be packed around with a notebook, rather remain at home or office.
Six terabytes of 2.5" HD pictured below in a very compact space.
Bare hard drives and docks have the lowest cost, the highest reliability, and take up the smallest storage space
    Drawbacks:
    1. Care and knowledge in general handling of naked hard drives (how not to shock a bare HD, and how to hold them properly). Not a genuine drawback.
    Advantages:
    1. By far the least expensive method of mass HD storage on a personal basis. Highest quality naked HD can be purchased in bulk very cheap.
    2. Eliminates the horrible failure point of SATA bridges and interfaces between external drives and the computer.
    3. Per square foot you can store more terabytes of data this way than any other.
    4. Fast, easy, no fuss and most simplex method of data storage on hard drives.

  • My iBook won't read my flash drive

Hi! I have a cruzer mini flashdrive and while my iBook used to read it, it will no longer show up when I plug it in. The flash drive still works on other computers so I am wondering if I did something on my iBook where it will no longer recognize it. Any suggestions or ideas?

Check dick utility in the Utilities folder. Is the disc mentioned there? Is it mounted? I know that if the screen saver is activated with a password requiring to be entered, the disc won't mount automatically, if the screen saver is active.

  • TS1363 When I plug my ipod into the usb port of my desktop, It will not recognize that anything is plugged into it.  However it does recognize my flash drives, so trying to resolve my problem.  Please help...

When I plug my ipod into my desk top my computer will not recognize the ipod in the usb port.  I checked my usb port with one of my flash drives and it works fine.  My ipod is in stuck in recovery mode, so has to be gone thru on itunes.  Please help me

Yes, I think so...  But what's odd here (to me) is that it actually matters what song the iPod was playing before being connected to that USB port.  What happens if you connect the iPod when it is not playing any song?  It seem like either the car audio system knows where to look for the iPod's song files, or it doesn't.
If you have a USB flash drive, try putting a few song files on it, and connecting it to that USB port.  That's probably the primary reason for that USB port, so customer can attach USB flash drives with song files.  If that works, and you can properly browse and play songs from the USB flash drive, you should just get a $5 8GB USB flash drive, fill it with your "car songs," and leaving it connected to the car audio system.  That would be more convenient that remembering to connect and disconnect your nano all the time, and less wear-and-tear on the nano.
