HP S2031 Monitor Compatibility

Hello,
I have a HP S2031 monitor and I am looking to upgrade the old desktop pc. There is one that I am looking at that has a GeForce GTX 750 graphics card. The information on the card itself when I went to the NVIDIA site states "NVIDIA G-SYNC requires a NVIDIA G-SYNC-ready monitor. Applicable for DisplayPort-enabled graphics cards."
How can I find out if this monitor will in fact work with this graphics card?
If it won't the other pc I was looking at does not state anything regarding a specific requirement. That one has the NVIDIA GT720 graphics card in it.
How do I make sure that the computer I am going to get will be compatible with this monitor?

It does not look like your monitor will support G-SYNC. Here is a recent article from Nvidia that has a list of supported monitors.
The Nvidia GT720 looks to be compatible with your monitor. The product specs are here.

HP S2031 MONITOR

THE MONITOR REFLECTS THAT THE CURRENT RESOLUTION IS 1440 X 900, HOWEVER, I HAVE REPEATEDLY SET THE RESOLUTION AT 1600 X 900 ON MY DESKTOP. HP SLIMLINE S7600E XP SP3. THE RESOLUTION AT 1440 X 900 IS BLURRED AND SEEMS TO BE THE BEST I CAN SECURE ... WONDERING IF THERE IS ANYTHING MORE I CAN DO/UPDATE/DOWNLAND TO GET MONITOR'S NATIVE RESOLUTION TO ACTUALLY WORK.
ANY AND ALL INPUT WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

According to the specifications, the monitor should support 1600 x 900.
Does the Slimline recognize the monitor as an HP S2031 or a generic PnP monitor?
Does installing this driver help?

Hp s2031 monitor will not receive premium channels from cable tv, due to hdcp. what to do?

I am moving to a building with only cable tv reception. I plan on ditching an old, huge (not flat screen) tv and will use my hp s2031 monitor with a tv tuner that will receive from a cable connection. I will gladly pay for premium channels like hbo, starz, etc., but my hp s2031 monitor has HDCP, which apparently will block premium channels. Am I incorrect? Surely hp has a fix for people who are willing to pay for content. I cannot afford a new monitor, and I do not want to lug my current giant to the new location. The screen on my laptop is much smaller.

You are incorrect. HDCP (high definition content protect) prevents HD content from being sent over analog signaling. Since your HP s2031 monitor has both VGA (analog) and DVI-D (digital) inputs, you will need to use the DVI-D input to watch HD content. Your cable box will most likely have a HDMI output. To use this with your monitor will require a HDMI-to-DVI cable.

White noise in 720p ps3 - HP S2031

Hello, I have been trying to play PS3 on my HP S2031, and it plays 480p fine, but whenever I attempt to switch it to 720p it starts to get a heavy amount of white noise.
I used a DVI to HDMI cord to connect the two. Is there an issue with my screen, or can it just not support 720p?

According to HP S1931a, S2031/S2031a, S2231/S2231a, and S2331/S2321a LCD Monitors - User Guide, the HP S2031 supports 480p and 720p. I doubt there is a problem with the monitor, however you may wish to test it using a computer set to those output resolutions to see if the issue still exists. Most likely, you need to adjust the setting on both your PS3 and the monitor or you have a faulty vidoe cable/adapter.

Satellite A105-S2031: DVD/CD plays to slow like slow motion

Hi, my A105 - S2031 has CD/DVD combo TS-L462C. If I play a CD or DVD, everyting is too slow like a slow motion.
Does anyone could help me how I can fix this? Or is this a mechanical error of the CD/DVD combo?

First of all we should clarify if this is software or a hardware issue;
In such case it would be advisable to test the notebook with factory settings
I think you should use the Toshiba recovery CD and should restore the unit back to the Toshiba factory settings.
Usually the movies should run smoothly without any troubles using the right applications like WinDVD for example.
If some troubles will appear then a graphic driver update could be advisable but if this will not help then an ASP should be contacted and the notebook should be checked.

How do I attach speakers to the HP S2031? If I have the VGA cable in connected to my xbox, how do I get it connect speakers to hear sound from the xbox?

(a) HDMI connection,
(b) Two builtin speakers
is simpler than buying a set of speakers separately and connect all sort of cables from the xbox.

Monitor HP S2031, Sound Bar

Monitor HP S2031, Is there a sound bar you can buy that will fit this monitor. What I am seeing they attach at the bottom of the screens. I'm wondering since the controls are on the bottom under the frame if there would still be enough room for turning the monitor on and off once attached.

Welcome! and thanks for posting. After running a few different searches, the most informative was my Google Image search for 'monitor sound bar'. Most of the images showed a flat, snuggly fitting sound bar mounted under various types of monitors which were all flat on the bottom edge. Unfortunately, with the S2031, I couldn't find one that would accommodate that slight dip in the middle on the bottom edge.
The best alternative I could find is the Maxell Maxsound Soundbar. Other than that, you could also look for soundbars made for smaller TVs.

HP S2031 license number/name?

I would like to register my destktop computer with the correct license key number and name. I have a program that is called " PC Tools Registry" that requires the license key number and name in order to complete the registry. Where can I find this information on my computer???

The only license key information on your computer is located on the tower. It could be located on either side or the top or bottom. The key is normally about 25 characters with a mix of numbers and letters.

HP S2031 Monitor connect to my Mac

I connect a HP monitor using a Mini DP to DVI adaptor. Work one time and after that my mac dont recognize the monitor. There is something that I can do?

Have the same problem with brand new Core i5 Minis. Using the standard HDMI to DVI adapter.

Upgraded to windows 10 but my hp s2031 monitor flickers

I upgraded to windows 10 but the monitor looks like it only goes up to 8. Need a driver available for 10. I ran a system check for I installed windows 10 and it was fine. Only problem is the monitor. Could anybody help please?

2 possible solutions,
1. You installed software for XP, if so uninstall the software then download and install this Vista software
2. Remove the memory card from the camer and insert into a card reader if you have one.

Photoshop CC won't open or create files in Windows 8.1 Pro

When I open up Photoshop CC 2014, the program won't open or create files... it just sits there. No error message of any sort. This happens when opening from within the program and from opening through windows. I installed CC as soon as I installed Windows on this computer.

HDMI to DVI Problems (Detailed in Post)

I have two brand new Core i5 Mac Minis running Snow Leopard. They shipped with the usual HDMI to DVI adapter, to which I plugged in an HP S2031 displays; however, OS X is detecting each display as two separate displays. In addition, if the computer goes to sleep at any point, the HDMI port will stop working alltogether until the computer is restarted.
I tested it with an Asus 19" display and a Dell 20", and the same thing occurs, so it's not display-specific.
Any thoughts, comments, or suggestions?

I just installed the 10.6.8 combo update to be sure I have the latest drivers, but no luck. Also zapped PRAM, but that didn't help either.
Monitor remains responsive if only the display goes to sleep, but if the whole computer sleeps, then the HDMI stops sending a signal.

I wil be purchasing a new desktop in a couple weeks but I have a few questions. Currently I am looking at the HP Pavillon i3 processor with 8 GB memory what is the difference in processing speed Vs. the HP AMD Athlon11 Quad core processor?
Is the HP-20" widescreen flat panel LCD monitor model S2031 compatible with the HP pavillion i3 processor model p7-1030.

Thanks very much for considering an HP desktop. NoNoBadDog, thanks as usual for your expert response. There was a second inquiry--regarding a monitor's compatibility with the new desktop. Since S2031 monitor was introduced in 2010 my initial response is yes it is compatible with the p7-1030. Satellite A105 Shift Keys stop working after BIOS update

I have a stack of laptop boards from the A105 series (Intel chipset) that I received with bad BIOS's. Two worked, and I updated the BIOS's on them to fix CPU compatibility issues. After that, the shift keys stopped working, and pressing Shift-A causes the power light to dim. Reverting to ANY previous version BIOS, whether through the Windows program, CD, or Crisis Recovery floppy (magic key is "F", not "B", "Esc", or "U"), does not fix the keyboard problem.
To make things more confusing, I did notice that the one single BIOS that seems to actually correct the problem is version 1.50, which I haven't seen available for any Tecra A7 or Satellite A100/A105, except a couple A100's, but the BIOS file is much too small and can't be loaded.
Does anyone have any idea why these Intel-based boards are doing this? Or does anyone know where I can get a usable version 1.50 BIOS?
For the sake of this post, please consider my skill level to be high. (In other words, I would be thankful for people trying to help with "Replace the keyboard", but I have about a dozen keyboards, all of which I have tried, and all of which work on other laptops. Additionally, if you have just a theoretical solution, I'm definitely open to hearing it. Also, if a Toshiba tech would like to reply, I would very much appreciate it!)

Some motherboards were not in chassis when I got them. Is there a place the PSAAxx model number would be written on the boards?
Four PSAA8U (Two A105-S4334 and Two A105-S4014) - Intel Chipset, fingerprint reader. Tried BIOS Versions 1.40, 1.70, 2.00, 5.10, 5.60, 5.90, and 6.00. Shift keys do not work on either one.
Two PSAA2U (A105-S2091 and A105-S2031) - ATi Chipset. BIOS versions 1.50, 1.80, and 2.30. Keyboard works.
Another PSAA8U (A105-S4184) - Intel Chipset, no fingerprint reader. BIOS version 6.00. Keyboard works.
I noticed that so far all of the models with fingerprint readers have the problem. All of the ATi Chipset boards are working fine, but they have significant processor limits. I am in the middle of updating the BIOS in another Intel one using a Crisis Rescue Disc, so after that finishes I will try disconnecting the fingerprint reader to see if it has an effect.
I don't think the keyboard controller is faulty, because these boards all failed on the same day. I have tried updating the BIOS using WinPhlash, Phlash16 in DOS, the install CD, and a Crisis Recovery Disk. I set the defaults in the BIOS almost every time, and I also have tried holding the power button for 60 seconds with the power cord unplugged and the battery removed (as some people have suggested.)
The shift keys don't work in DOS, Linux, Windows, or even in the BIOS. I test it in the BIOS by using Tab to cycle through the fields in time of day, then Shift-Tab to cycle backwards. This works with a USB keyboard, and it also works on the ATi chipset models and the Intel chipset models that are still working.
