HP Scanjet 4570c with Lion

Dear Community,
I just noticed that my HP ImageZone, being a PowerPC application, has died with the install of Lion. According to HP, with the software updates, the driver should be installed automatically. Unfortunately this doesn't happen.
So, I guess, the scanner is not supported. Is this right? If yes, is there a generic scanner driver that I can use? If it is supported, how can I get the driver?
Thank you,
vm

Could never get this to work directly in the Mac OS Lion, even vuescan.com won't work.
BUT I did get it to work in Windows on the Mac using Parallels and using a program called iCopy http://download.cnet.com/iCopy/3000-2088_4-10731352.html

  • How do i scan with my Scanjet 4570c with HP Photo Creations?

i recently upgraded to OS X Lion and my Image Zone software is not supported.  I "upgraded" to HP Photo Creations but this seems like it is a portal to buy pictures.  I just want to scan dox and fotos. How do i do this?
anyone else experiencing problems with their ScanJet 4570c or other scanners with OS X Lion?

    H Shivnarc.
If your scanner is supported in OS X Lion, you should be able to scan using the built-in Preview program. Scanning is enabled by a background program called a driver. Lion is supposed to download the driver automatically if it's available. See
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3669
Said another way, HP Photo Creations doesn't have scanning functions. It's designed to help you make keepsakes with photos you've already loaded. In addition to the commerically produced products you saw, such as photo books and mugs, HP Photo Creations offers items you can print at home, such as enlargements, calendars, and greeting cards. You can see all the home-printing projects by clicking the Print at Home tab on the Catalog screen.
For further reference, here's HP's US driver download page. It doesn't currently list a Lion driver for your scanner:
    www8.hp.com/us/en/support-drivers.html
So, perhaps not the answer you wanted, but I hope it cleared up the background. You may find a solution by reposting your question as "Need OS X Lion Driver for Scanjet 4570c."

  • MSI K7N2-L usb 2.0 doesn't work with scanjet 4570c

I have a MSI K7N2-L motherboard with WINXP and SP1 that doesn't work with Scanjet 4570C if I set USB in BIOS to 1.1+2.2.  Sometimes it locked up the PC or it showed streaks on the image.  It worked just fine if I set to USB 1.1.  Does anyone knows this is the problem with the MSI motherboard?  I'm sure it was not the Scanjet since it is USB 2.0 supported, and I'd tried another Scanjet and the problem was still the same.

If you are having problems with USB ports, read this topic.
besure you have only 8 wires connected no usboc
    Nice topic!
But usb 2.0 DOES work with 1.3, 1.4 and 1.52 BIOSes. Only after updating to 1.5 official one of the front panel ports (not all 2) start works as 1.1

  • No drivers for scanjet 4570c scanner for windows 8x

no drivers for scanjet 4570c scanner for windows 8x
Sure, it's old- but, many PC accessories last a long time. This old scanner is working perfectly. I shouldn't have to junk it because HP, a multi billion dollar company doesn't want us to continue to use old accessories. I used to program- I know that it wouldn't be that big a deal to update the drivers for this old scanner to work on windows 8x.

You need to provide Win7 with device drivers for all the Mac-specific hardware, just like when you tried out BootCamp. In order to do so, use the BootCamp Assistant to download the latest Windows drivers and place them on media the Win7 installer can use.
Run BootCamp Assistant, click Continue to skip initial screen. Check the Download latest Windows support... box, uncheck all others. Click Continue. Select to burn to a DVD/CD or store in an external drive (USB Flash?). Click Continue. Allow the disk image to download, may take awhile. Burn or copy the image onto media, as per your previous choice. Then, when the Win7 installer says there are no drivers, use the media you prepared to install them.
Note that the above explanation is when using the diskless world of Lion. If you are using Snow Leopard, there should be a BootCamp disk you can use and not have to wait.

  • Setup of scanjet 4570c and iPhoto '09

I am moving an older but working hp scanjet 4570c to a PowerMac G5 running OSX 10.5.8 to scan slides.
Whre can I get drivers for this configuration or can I scan direclty into iPhoto '09?

For drivers for the Scanner you need to check with the makers.
You can also try Image Capture (in your Applications Folder) which has some generic drivers.
    Another possibility: Vuescan http://www.hamrick.com/
You can't scan directly to iPhoto. The workflow would be to scan to a folder on the desktop and import from there. Be sure to scan RGB.

I have a hp scanjet 4570c Scanner that I need to be able to save or convert scans to Black & White Scalable or Windows Meta Files to use with our Engraving Machine. • Who has a brand new Mac with Lion?

I've been reading about all these issues with Lion. (yes i realize most people who are happy don't post) Most of the time when someone has an issue someone else says that their system must have been screwed up prior to the upgrade or they did something wrong, or have software that causing the issue, etc. I'm wondering if any of you are having issues with Lion on a brand new Mac? A new computer that came with Lion or at least a brand new computer that you installed Lion on as soon as you took it out of the box. Something NEVER used without Lion.
Seems to me that if the vast majority of brand new Macs that come with Lion installed are working great then the problems people are seeing may in fact be something that already existed in their system prior to the upgrade. But if people with brand new virgin Macs are having issues with Lion then it HAS to be system bugs.
I think this information could be a good indicator if the OS has a ton of bugs or if it simply does not get along well with possible existing bugs your computer may already have.
I have two 2009 Macs and I'd love to upgrade to Lion because i like to keep my systems current but honestly I'm afraid too!!

I bought my iMac (mid 2011 model) in July (brand new) and have Lion 7.1 installed. I have found many things which I would class as being "a different way of doing things from what I am used to", through "oddities (some annoying)", and a few that are clearly bugs, such as the Magic Mouse pointer going AWOL for about 45 secs. once per day, very short mouse battery life (eg., a few days), Mail not showing the addressee when doing a word search. But I have not had any killer problems like many of the other posters such as Wifi not working. I just grit my teeth and hope that Apple will soon get things straight.
Someone said that Lion should have been classed as a beta release and I think there is some truth in that. However, it is important to realise that the people who post here are the ones with problems, not satisfied customers. How many Lions have been sold? A million?
I was put off initially when I got my iMac and was glad that at that time it came with Snowleopard, but I took the plunge and am glad that I did. I like many of the features in Lion.

  • The guide to bootcamp assistant states that bootcamp can only be installed on a drive with a single partition. New Macs with Lion preinstalled have two partitions - the second is a recovery partition.  How do I install Bootcamp?

Late in August 2011 I took delivery of a new 27" iMac with Lion preinstalled.  I need to run Windows as well. Following Apple's written suggestion, I printed off the then current 12 pages of the document "Bootcamp Installation & Setup Guide" which clearly stated that the hard drive you were going to install on had to have on it, before install, a maximum of one partition.  Using finder and disk utility I determined that there was only one partition.  Unbeknownst to me, there was (is) an additional hidden (from those two pieces of software) partition on the disk.  As of machines delivered new with Lion preinstalled, Apple has begun to include a "recovery partition".  In that partition there is a copy of the software necessary to reinstall Lion via a download from the Apple App Store.  Not knowing the partition was there, I cranked up  "Bootcamp Assistant" which nicely offered to repartition my hard drive creating a "Bootcamp Partition" in addition to the existing.  I told it how big to make each and hit the do it button, subsequently destroying my operating system.  Oh, it very nicely told me, after the damage was done, how many partitions were REALLY on the disk and that I could not install Bootcamp cause there were too many partitions.
Luckily the the Recovery Partition, which at that point I knew existed, was not harmed and after doing some research on another compter, I used it to once again download Lion from the App Store and reinstall. So, I have recovered but am still stuck with the problem:  how do I install Bootcamp in this new environment?

First you need to seriously back up your Mac.
A clone is an exact duplicate of your existing Mac HDD. Merely copying and pasting a drive will not make a bootable backup. In case of problems you can boot from an Ext HDD clone and use the utilities to repair, reformat, or clone the Ext HDD back to the internal Mac HDD.  While Time machine back ups are easy you can not boot from it. The best thing to have for any kind of problem is a bootable clone backup on an external drive. Some even have two external backup drives in case one fails. There are two good apps for cloning named SuperDuper and Carbon Copy Cloner.
In dealing with the recovery partition a simple approach is to clone the Mac partition to an external disk then re-partition the Mac to a single partition (GUID partition table) . Then clone the external disk clone back to the Mac. You will now have only one Partition and Boot Camp assistant sould not object.
Some have recommended getting rid of the recovery partition while others have advised not to do this. If you have the Lion USB Thumb Drive you do not need a recovery partition so can discard it without concern. There is another way to get rid of the recovery partition if you decide to do it but first be sure to have a backup of your Mac ( I know I sound like a nagging mom but many dead computers have been saved by this simple precaution).
    Use Disk Utility.
    1) Make the Recovery visible in Disk Utility by using a program like Secrets:http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/27025/secrets or MacPilot:http://www.koingosw.com/products/macpilot.php (15 day free trial).
    2) Highlite the Recovery partition and Control click it and select Mount the partition.
    3) With the Recovery partition highlited, erase the partition, you'll get an error message, ignore it.
    4) Now highlite the top identity of the hard drive and select the partition tab.
    5) Highlite the Recovery partition and press the minus sign.
    6) Click and hold on the bottom edge of the partition above and drag it to the bottom, if it doesn't go there automatically, the press apply.

  • Constant stream of lock ups with Lion 10.7.2

At my wits end since upgrading to Lion (10.7.2).   I get a constant stream of application lock ups (beach ball) on every app I try:  Firefox (8.0.1) , intermitent connectivity to Internet (although I know my connection is good); App  Store unable to connect; iTune unable to connect to store; Parallels Desktop locks up; Outlook (Office Mac 2011) locks up, Time Machine locks up, and more not mentioned.  None of these seem to occur at the same time; it's more like the app that decides to not work is random.  Firefox is good but App Store will not connect;  iTunes is good, but Firefox will not connect.
Each time I'm forced to restart or shutdown only to have similar, but not the same, errors after I log back on.  The errors (lock ups) started right after the upgrade and have gotten progressively worse as the days/weeks go by.  At the point now where the PC is completely unreliable.  It's a crap shoot to find out what is working and what is not.
I've tried about everything mentioned in the forums -- verified/fixed permissions, used Mac OS install DVD to verify/fix HDD issues; no help.
Prior to upgrade, I had zero issues running SL -- all of this started with Lion.

In any case, shouldn't Software Update recognise what I am running and what is needed to update it successfully?
To a point. It will inform you of a system update, as with Lion 10.7.2 for example, but that is not the combo update. I set my Systum Updates to install manually, if I see an OS update, I always go to
    http://support.apple.com/downloads/
And choose the Combo update whice is always a little bigger, but a cumulative install as mentioned. Always appears to be more stable.

  • I want to install hybrid drive in Macbook pro. I bought my Mac book with lion and am now running mountain lion. I was told I needed install disk to set up new drive before restoring from my time capsule. Is this correct and if so how do I get disk osx10?

I purchased a Mac book Pro in Aug 2012 with lion and have upgraded to mountain lion. I currently am looking to install the segate 750 gig hybrid drive. I watching video I shows me needing a OSX 10 disk to boot off of when the new disk is in and the use time capsule to restore system from back up drive to new hybrid. Hope I got this correct so far. that being said my Mac Book did not come with a disk therefore is one available, when I get to point of restoring from back up with it be the same mountain lion system I had. Sorr if this sounds redudant.. Thank you in advance

Connect the new hybrid drive to your MBP.  Start up your MBP holding the OPTION key, the two HDD icons will appear.  Select the 'restore' icon on the right.  When you get to the menu where you have 4 options, select Disk Utility.  Format the drive and then you can use the option of restoring it from Time Machine.
    Ciao.

  • Migrating to new macbook air with Lion, entourage 2008 doesn't work

I  bought a new macbook air with lion installed. trying to migrate data from my old macbook with snow leopard. Got most data across, and installed my most frequently used applications:
    - office 2008: most office apps 2008 work, if buggily. entourage not, see below.
    - firefox (hangs up when downloading updates)
    - dropbox (ditto)
<these two problems may have something to do with internet proxy settings, will try to sort that out later>
    MAIN ISSUE:
entourage wont open at all.  so for now i'm using my old comp for e-mail and the new for the rest.
    MY OPTIONS:
please advise (1) what you think is the most time & nerve-saving option (2) how to do it smoothly:
    A) try to get office 2008 to work.
when trying to open entourage, it tells me this version (office 2008 12.0) cannot open this entourage database (12.3)
error for other apps says there is a problem with database, and rebuilding several times did not fix it.
would have to start with updating to the version i used last (office 2008 12.3). Problem is the ms office updater does not seem to work on lion. the first update does not open, says it does not support powermac.
    B) buying office 2011, and migrating entourage 2008 to outlook.
I suppose the best way to do this is to install office 2011 on the old mac first, then on the new one, then move database, right?
    C) migrating from entourage 2008 to lion mail.
best way to do this would be to import entourage email to leopard mail, then move those files to the new mac?  and move entourage addresses into the mac addressbook. my major concern is that i have a lot of mailing rules, and a fair bunch of notes. a lot. i;d rather not have to recreate those by hand. Is there a way to import rules from entourage to mail?
i also habe a huge backstock of mail, over 10,000, and a correspondigly huge addressbook (within entourage). i'm ready to abandon entourage at last (though i used it for a decade), but i want to have my addresses, my rules, and at least the last 3 yrs of emails. i get about 130 mails a day so i need plenty of automatic organizing capability.
i never had issues  my old mac/snow leopard, i just ran out of ram and the one usb broke, so i figured it's time. kinda sorry i did not just get the usb repaired and extra ram. what a hassle these migrations always are.
    cheers!
    maedi

    Kappy wrote:
Yes, repairing first is a sound idea. In my experience I've only moved from Entourage to the OS X applications or from one version of Entourage to another. In the latter I've been able to just copy over the Microsoft User Data folder. But I have not used Entourage for quite some time.
Microsoft don't make it quite that easy to migrate to their own applications, but the import from a 'tidy' .rge file works well, I had a lot of issues with the first few I migrated but after performing a database repair prior to import all proceeded smoothly.

  • New Mac Mini with Lion Video Problem With Dell E228WFP monitor

Just purchased a new mini Mac 2.3 with Lion pre installed.  I connected to my old Dell E228WFPI monitor via the Mini Display to VGA adapter.  The mini mac worked fine for an hour until I put it to sleep.  It would not rewake.  After rebute the gray screen and apple logo appear with clock, but after clock screen to black and monitor goes to power saver mode.  Took unit to apple store twice and could not resolve problem by changing resolution or other methiods.  Finally, we learned that the system works fine using Belkin HDMI to DVI cable.  This Dell Monitor had DVI connector.  Hope this helps...

How can a computer that's been turned off (and I mean completely OFF) get a network request? Only a sleeping computer should react to such a request. If you're sure you shut down (Apple Menu, Shut Down), then only an internal power supply or logic board problem should cause this. The only way it could be software is if Lion is not shutting down the computer but is instead putting it to sleep. Is it a new Mac Mini? If so, you should have it replaced or repaired.

If you are still within your 15 day return period.  Call Apple they will sent out iDVD at no charge.  (There are no realistic substitutes.)
Nicely explain that you may return the computer without iDVD.  You MUST speak to a senior advisor to get a free copy. The first tier people cannot do it.

  • Mini DisplayPort to HDMI transmits no audio on 2011 iMac with Lion 10.7.2

    Hello everyone. I'm new here.
I have a 2011 iMac which was shipped with Lion and I updated to 10.7.2. I am trying to connect my iMac to my televison to play my movies, etc by using the HDMI connection. No VGA connection on this TV, which is what I used to use before upgrading computer and TV. I ordered a MDP to HDMI adapter from ebay which says it supports audio. The seller is reputable and I do not see any issues from their other customers.
I have the MDP to HDMI adapter connected to an HDMI cable connected directly to my 46" Panasonic LCD. The video transfers perfectly, but audio continues to be played from computer's internal speakers. I've read through as many posts as I can find. I see many which tell you to select HDMI in System Preferences>Audio. There is no option for HDMI here. I only see "Internal Speakers" as the output option.
I called AppleCare and even spoke with a Senior Advisor. They say I need to buy one of the two adapters they recommend in their support article. (I get the impression that they just wanted me off the phone.) Those are overpriced and I think this adapter should work, as I see other customers of this same product are satisfied.
I've tried resetting PRAM and also SMC. I've taken a look at the audio settings on my televison, all to no avail. I don't understand why HDMI would not be shown in Audio under System Preferences. Any ideas? Thanks for your help!

    Same problem.
All my equipment is directly from Apple, except two items bought December 2011, namely a 24" Sony Internet TV and a high end HDMI cable bought from Sony.
My Macbook Pro 15" with its 10.7.2 Lion and Intel Core 2 Duo let's me plug in a Moshi DP HDMI adapter via the HDMI cable to the Sony Internet TV.
By selecting the source on the Sony TV, I can get the display working. My Macbook refused to see the Sony TV until I switched to Mirror Display, but now I can switch between the two display modes fine with no problems.
But the audio does not work.
Really rather annoying, considering that there have been problems with this feature in several OS X generations now - after apparently working fine once upon a time.
Dear Apples, kindly could you tell me when you will re-introduce audio support through DP HDMI connectors?
