HP Scanjet 4670 compatibility

I am seeking a software driver compatible with Mavericks (OS X 10.9) to run my old but grea HP Scanjet 4670. When I installed Maverick, it announced that it was not compatible with the one previously installed.

Try using the Image Capture app in your Applications folder for scanning.
Connect the scanner to your Mac whether Wi-Fi or USB.
Launch Image Capture.
Click the very small black box bottom left side of the Image Capture window.
You'll see this pop up menu: Connecting this (device) opens:
You can select a default app to scan (Image Capture) and select a folder from the Imort To pop up menu on the right to save scanned files to.

Mac Mini using OS X Tiger does not see my HP Scanjet 4670 scanner! HELP!!!!

I have an HP Scanjet 4670 scanner which worked fine on my pervious mac which was an emac with OS X Panther.
However, I now own a G4 Mac Mini running with OS X Tiger and recenly tried to use my scanner with it for the first time only to get the message: "scanner not found" I then went straight to my System Profiler to look at the USB Device Tree and was shocked to see that all my USB devices show up EXCEPT my scanner!
Mechanically, the scanner appears fine (even when I run its 'Hardware Test') but no matter what I do I cant get the Mac to 'see' it. I have reinstalled the HP scanner software old AND new, but to no avail. Although, I'm sure that even with NO HP software on my Mac, the System Profiler should still be detecting a USB device on its tree.
Just out of curiosty I connected my scanner to my old emac (my girlfriend has had it for a few months now) and it has the same problems there too!! WEIRD OR WHAT? The emac is STILL running on Panther - although during the months AFTER I gave it to my GF there has been some minor OSX Panther upgrades installed.
Is it just coincidental bad luck that my scanner became faulty when I changed mac and operating systems? Or is there an OS X Tiger problem lurking somwhere here?
PLEASE PLEASE can someone offer suggestions!!!!????? It is a lovely looking, decent scanner which was not cheap to buy and is only under 2 years old!!!

Looks like you're using software for this scanner that was for Panther only.
Try downloading HP's version of the scanner's software for Tiger.

And run software update to make sure you're running the latest Tiger update.
If you're already doing this, or it still doesn't work, it could be a damaged USB cable (as your girlfriend Panther system doesn't see it either).

Scanjet 4670 - work on Windows 8.1 x64

Hello,
I have found that, for the Scanjet 4670 scanner, the drivers for Vista x64 works very well with Windows 8.1 x64. So this scanner is not incompatible with Windows 8.1 x64. Just download the Vista x64 drivers from the HP website. I hope that this information is helpful to other users.

Anybody get their ScanJet working with the MBP yet? I updated my software from H-P's site but that does not seem to work for me either.

I have an HP scanjet 4670 and am also having problems. At first I could not even get my intel iMac to "see" it even though it was in the dock...it would not open. Then I douwnloaded the new 8.4v and thought all was great, as I was able to get a scan, but when I tried to change the location for storing the scanned images, the entire thing just froze up and I had to force quit (three times) I uninstalled a second time, but have decided not to re-install yet. Wondered if anoyone had discovered a solution for hte 4670 problems yet.

I suspect your question would be better answered in the HP Enterprise Business Community, as the HP Scanjet 4670 digital Flatbed Scanner is a commercial model.

It's been a week since I sent my first post about how to make my scanjet 4670 running. It's going nowhere, do I need the download new driver for my windows7 which I have been using for years?
Asked me to click the link but it's nowhere to click on. Went to post search by author, no use. or by date, no use either.

Compatability - Contribute 3, Quickbooks Pro2005/2006, Dantz Retrospect etc

Am about to buy a new iMAC Core Duo for my wife (she has a G4 iMAC) and have managed to nail down all her software ito compatability with the Core Duo... with the exception of:
1. Macromedia Contribute 3
2. Quickbooks Pro 2005 (or 2006 i..e I will upgrade her to that it 2006 works and 2005 doesn't) - I know the new iMAC's ship with 2006 NUE, but I read NUE is a slimmed down version
3. EMC Dantz Retrospect 6
4. HP Scanning & Image Zone Software for Scanjet 4670
I have spent hours of the various companies websites... sent them e-mails... called them... all to no avail...
If I can nail down these 4, she's getting a new Core Duo... if not... maybe I'll wait...

Power Mac G5 Dual 2GHz Mac OS X (10.4.4)

I have heard back from Dant'z and they say... Not compatible... but are working on a release that will. Also just heard back from Macromedia and they say they are not sure if Contribute will or worn't work... they say they are in testing mode. Still haven't heard about Quickbooks pro 2005 or 2006. Anyone know if those will run under rosetta?

Some basic questions:
Did you install all of the software, I installed all of the sofrware for my Epson scanner before using it, I'm sure if I jump ahead, I'd be in trouble.
USB Questions
is it plugged into a usb hub? If so try connecting it directly to the computer.
is the cable your using a usb2 cable? Your new Mac has usb2 ports not usb like the emac, and you'll run into issues using a regular run of the mill usb cable. I ran into a simiar issue with my Kodak 1400 printer, I needed to go out and purchase a usb2 cable.

Backup iPhoto to DVD

I'm trying to backup my photos in iPhoto to a DVD. My iPhoto library is all JPEG. The sources of my photos are:
1) Photos downloaded from digital cameras
2) Photos from other DVD's
3) Photos scanned with an Epson CX3200 scanner
4) Negatives & slides scanned on an HP Scanjet 4670
I have tried selecting all photos in iPhoto and selecting burn.
I have tried sharing to iDVD.
I have tried dragging & dropping on the DVD icon.
All of these actions only result in the pics D/L from digital cameras burning on the DVD. When I go to Home or Pictures>iPhoto Library I only find pics from the digital cameras. I have no idea where the scanned pic are located. I believe I've looked thru every file on my Mac and can't find them. I'm sure they must be there somewhere or I wouldn't see them in iPhoto.
Anyway, how do I save all 1200 photos to a DVD? Sorry for the long post. Any guidance will be greatly appreciated.

If you just want to backup the original files then all you need to do is mounty a DVD disk and drag the Originals folder from the iPhoto LIbrary folder onto it and burn with the Finder. That's provided the size of the Originals folder will fit onto a single DVD disk.
Are you able to view the scanned photos in iPhoto? If you can then they will be in the Originals folder along with the digital camera photos. Control-click on one of the scanned image's thumbnails and select Show file in the contextual menu. That will take to to the folder that contains the original file.

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

Is the Scanjet G4050 compatible with Mac OSX 10.10.1? The HP site does not have a download for this os.

my G4050 worked "before" correctly to scan 35mm rolls, aso. For months was no using such kind of scanning, Recently after trying again such 35mm negs or transparency scans, NO WAY...
Image capture doesn't work for such scan, probably because latest IOS updates have changed the options.
HP years ago provided excellent software for 35mm scanning with the 4050 but as Image capture is "now" indispensable to scan, the incompatibility is evident.
WHY ?
Are we froced to use another "pro" (Epson 800 f.i.) to keep scanning ?
Is there a problem inside the PC, the Image Capture software, or where is the solution ? any option to use other software welcome...

Compatibility HP Scanjet 6300c

Just installed my iMac 24". Works like a charm. Being a former Windows XP user who switched to Linux and now to Apple, I'm trying to get my Scanjet 6300c to work. On the HP support site I found some info about not being supported or discontinued.
Running Mac OS X Tiger, what would be the right place to find the correct and supported driver/software?

Similar problem with a Photoscanner HPscanjet 4890 : all ok for doc's pdf pictures ... but no way to scan 35mm slides with the HP soft. The preview scan is OK, as well as the thumbnails of the16 scanned slides. As soon as I start to save those slides, I got a message that the scanner couldn't write the file.
When scanning multiple slides or 35mm strips the scanner needs to write a text file to organize the separation of all the individual pictures. I saw this under SnowLeopard:the scanner writes a number of small temporary files in the root directory. Apparently, on Yosemite this is not allowed ...
My work around (from last week) :
If you have a possibility to boot up on good ol' SnowLepoard - you can just scan your slides or strips as usual.
What i did on Yosemite :
Start the scan, on the sidebar it will show a scan with all individual pictures on it, and below all the single pictures.
Now, delete all but one of these single pictures.
Then, on the multiple view, extend the last only selected picture all over all the others, the individual one now shows you the whole assembly !
Save it (its a single file with all on it, it can grow very large - mine was 1.5 GB)
Then do the separating job manually, in Gimp i selected and saved picture after picture in individual files. After 50 or so pictures that procedure goes very fast
