HP SCANJET 4850 Scanner

Is there a patch which allows the scanner to work with Leopard?

I was able to get my ScanJet 4890 working under Leopard by installing the latest software from HP. It is called Image Zone Software for the ScanJeet 4800 Series v 7.0 (Win) v 8.4 (Mac) dated Nov 20, 2007. It is part number L1950-10003. I had some trouble installing the software but after several attempts the software completely installed.
Here is the link to the HP software. HP charges $9.95 + tax.

The only issue I have is that HP Device Manager calls up the HP Copy Utility when I attempt to scan and it calls up HP ScanPro when I attempt to copy. The work around is to directly go to the HP Copy Utility or HP ScanPro.

  • Hp scanjet 4850 drivers for windows 7

i have an hp scanjet 4850 that i would like to use on a windows 7 Pro desktop PC.  i am having a problem finding the hp software / drivers for it.
i did look through the hp site.  http://h20565.www2.hp.com/portal/site/hpsc/template.PAGE/public/psi/swdHome/?sp4ts.oid=447374&spf_p.... 'Drivers, Software & Firmware for HP Scanjet 4850 Photo Scanner' gives just a basic driver 'HP Scanjet Basic Feature Driver' and 'HP Print and Scan Doctor', which tells me that the basic feature driver is missing items.  i know about the hamricks site that sells software, but i do not want to buy software that hp should be providing free.
    any ideas?

Have you tried the Vista full feature driver/software in Compatibility Mode?

I purchased the HP Pavilion 500-336 1 week ago (Windows 8.1). After setting up my Lexmark Printer. My next task was to setup the the HP ScanJet 4850. First I tried using the installation CD; which failed. I then tried to down load the new driver and utility both 64 bit and 32 bit. Currently I am getting and error “An error occurred while communication with scanning device”. Is there something I am missing? Can someone direct me to a solution?

I did download and ran the scan doctor. the scanner did not show on the list of devices.

  • Scanning slides on Scanjet 4850 vs. Scanjet G4050 photo scanners

Have new Dell desktop running Windows 8.1, 64.  Old photo scanner HP Scanjet 4850, previously used with Windows XP Media Edition, still works on photo prints but will no longer scan 35 mm slides.  Thinking of buying HP Scanjet G4050 Photo Scanner but first need to know if it is fully compatible with Windows 8.1 and thus will scan my slides.
    This question was solved.

    Hi,
I would first suggest trying a 3rd party scanning application such as VueScan, it shouls support Slides scanning and may provide you a workaround for your current Scanjet 4850, you may install a free trial first and check if that might do the trick for you:
    http://www.hamrick.com/vuescan/hp_scanjet_4850c.html
Other than that, the G4050 do support slides scanning and fully supported on Windows 8.1 with the Full Feature Software below:

  • Mac Mini using OS X Tiger does not see my HP Scanjet 4670 scanner! HELP!!!!

I have an HP Scanjet 4670 scanner which worked fine on my pervious mac which was an emac with OS X Panther.
However, I now own a G4 Mac Mini running with OS X Tiger and recenly tried to use my scanner with it for the first time only to get the message: "scanner not found" I then went straight to my System Profiler to look at the USB Device Tree and was shocked to see that all my USB devices show up EXCEPT my scanner!
Mechanically, the scanner appears fine (even when I run its 'Hardware Test') but no matter what I do I cant get the Mac to 'see' it. I have reinstalled the HP scanner software old AND new, but to no avail. Although, I'm sure that even with NO HP software on my Mac, the System Profiler should still be detecting a USB device on its tree.
Just out of curiosty I connected my scanner to my old emac (my girlfriend has had it for a few months now) and it has the same problems there too!! WEIRD OR WHAT? The emac is STILL running on Panther - although during the months AFTER I gave it to my GF there has been some minor OSX Panther upgrades installed.
Is it just coincidental bad luck that my scanner became faulty when I changed mac and operating systems? Or is there an OS X Tiger problem lurking somwhere here?
PLEASE PLEASE can someone offer suggestions!!!!????? It is a lovely looking, decent scanner which was not cheap to buy and is only under 2 years old!!!

Looks like you're using software for this scanner that was for Panther only.
Try downloading HP's version of the scanner's software for Tiger.
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?lc=en&cc=us&lang=en&dlc=en&produ ct=303641&os=219
And run software update to make sure you're running the latest Tiger update.
If you're already doing this, or it still doesn't work, it could be a damaged USB cable (as your girlfriend Panther system doesn't see it either).

I have a hp scanjet 4570c Scanner that I need to be able to save or convert scans to Black & White Scalable or Windows Meta Files to use with our Engraving Machine. We had a hp scanjet 4400c that used Precision 3.1 Software and it could save a scan as Black & White Scalable. It was perfect for our Engraver until the scanner went bad. Our 4570c doesn't have an option for that. Help !

  • HP Scanjet 4600 Scanner series *.exe file

I have an HP Scanjet 4600 Scanner series flatbed scanner that I have been using literally for decades, love it!  I'm on Windows Vista 32.
Problem:  I can only open it through Photoshop elements.  When I try to open it on its own (HPScanjet.exe) I receive the following error message:
An error has occured in the script on this page.
    Line: 1480
    Char: 1
Error: The specified module could not be found
    Code: 0
    URL: file:///C:/Program%20Files/HPScanjet/HTML/Center/html/index.htm
Do you want to continue running scripts on this page?  yes/no
When I click on either yes or no an "HP Scanjet Check" dialog box opens that is totally blank.  I checked the URL, which does exist, but the "index" folder is empty.
I have a need to open this scanner on its own.
Thanks for any assistance you may give

I do have the original setup disk but Vista hadn't been developed at the time.  The latest OS on the disk was XP.  Should it work if I reinstall on Vista?
Appearantly I'm not alone with this problem, of the 3 queries on this scanjet 2 of us experienced this.
    Thanks

  • No drivers for scanjet 4570c scanner for windows 8x

no drivers for scanjet 4570c scanner for windows 8x
Sure, it's old- but, many PC accessories last a long time. This old scanner is working perfectly. I shouldn't have to junk it because HP, a multi billion dollar company doesn't want us to continue to use old accessories. I used to program- I know that it wouldn't be that big a deal to update the drivers for this old scanner to work on windows 8x.

You need to provide Win7 with device drivers for all the Mac-specific hardware, just like when you tried out BootCamp. In order to do so, use the BootCamp Assistant to download the latest Windows drivers and place them on media the Win7 installer can use.
Run BootCamp Assistant, click Continue to skip initial screen. Check the Download latest Windows support... box, uncheck all others. Click Continue. Select to burn to a DVD/CD or store in an external drive (USB Flash?). Click Continue. Allow the disk image to download, may take awhile. Burn or copy the image onto media, as per your previous choice. Then, when the Win7 installer says there are no drivers, use the media you prepared to install them.
Note that the above explanation is when using the diskless world of Lion. If you are using Snow Leopard, there should be a BootCamp disk you can use and not have to wait.

  • Installing HP Scanjet 5470c Scanner?

I have just migrated from an HP laptop to a MacBook Pro. One of the frustrations I am having is that I don't appear to be able to install my HP Scanjet 5470c scanner onto my new machine; indeed, my MacBook Pro doesn't seem to be very scanner friendly at all.
I would very much appreciate instructions from someone on how I can get my HP scanner working with my new machine.
I don't want to have to buy a new one!
    Thanks.

Check with HP if they have drivers for Mac OS X.

If not perhaps you may be able to use VueScan.

  • HP Scanjet 4850 Photo Scanner driver for Mac OS9.x

I need the driver and other information to get my scanner to work.
Driver says that it has unknown author and will not install

    Hi 44621,
I suspect your question would be better answered in the HP Enterprise Business Community,  as the HP Scanjet 4370 is a commercial model.
My technical expertise is with consumer products and software, I am sure the commercial folks would be happy to help if you re-post your question for them to answer. The HP Enterprise Business Community is an HP Forum designed for the Commercial and Enterprise customers to help one another. I am sure you will find some HP folks there to help too.
Click here to view the Printing and Digital Imaging.  When the page opens you will see the option to 'Log in' or 'Register Now' on the right. The commercial forums are separate from the consumer boards, thus you will need to register if you don't already have a commercial account.
You may find the  HP Scanjet 4370 Photo Scanner supportpage helpful while you wait for somebody in the commercial Forum to respond to your inquiry.
    Best of luck.

  • HP Scanjet 4070 Scanner

I have seen a great deal about printers and all-in-ones, but little regarding stand-alone scanners. This scanner is attached to my Mac Pro8-core running 10.6.1.
Does anyone have a good work around or info on Drivers from Apple or HP? Right now my work-around is to use my Mac Book Pro running the latest version of Leopard. That's a bit slow for large, hi-rez images though.
If no drivers, can anyone recommend a good stand-alone scanner? I do not like all-in-ones - they seem to be masters of none.....

When it comes to Scanjet software, HP's official response can be found [here|http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?lang=en&cc= us&objectID=c01863616&jumpid=regR1002USEN].
Now for the unofficial response we are working on pulling up that schedule as much as possible to get the drivers into your hands as soon as possible. But I don't have any new dates to provide at this time.
    Just trying to help.
