HP Scanjet G4050 won't scan negatives or individual pictures Windows 8.1

I have posted recently, but I can't find it.  I have MANY times tried to download everything I can find for my scanjet and it won't work.  Then it said to uninstall completly and start again.  I cannot uninstall it completely.  Now there are drivers missing and such.  I appreciate the persons who have tried to help, but I still need help or go and spend another $40.  My notebook is an HP and so are my all-in-one eStation and scanjet.

  • HP Scanjet G4050 won't scan negatives or or individual pictures Windows 8.1

I have an HP Scanjet G4050 that will not scan negatives or individual pictures.  It worked great with my Windows XP.

    Hi,
    Please try for Windows 8:
      HP Scanjet G4050 Photo Scanner
Otherwise, well - use a computer with older Operating system to scan.
    Regards.

  • Scanjet G4050- How to scan multiple slides at one time with Image Capture

Using Scanjet G4050 with Mac and OS 10.6.  Thus using Image Capture to control scanner.  When using the slide template for 16 slides, Image Capture only allows me to select one slide at a time.
Is there a way to fill the template with 16 slides and have Image Capture scan all 16 slides without having to select each one in turn?  It is a real pain to have to direct each scan.

    Hi jpbear
I am going to take credit for finding the solution that the HP Photo Suite from OSX 5 works in subsequent Mac OSX. Look at this web page.
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?os=4019&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&sw_lang=&product=3236...
If this doesn't work for you, I am willing to guide you to finding the page. I downloaded a copy a few minutes ago and it was still available. The Photo Suite is actually an amazing set of applications but the one you want to use with your HP ScanJet  G4050 is HP Scan Pro. I continue to use it with OSX 9 but other people have reported that it continues to work with OSX 10 as well. It allows me to scan the 16 slides on the bed individually with one pass. It also has some colour balancing function.

  • Using photoshop elements 13 but the option to crop a single image is grayed out and also the option to crop a scanned image into individual pictures is grayed out - any ideas?

The option to crop an image is always grayed out or unavailable - both for single images and when I want to crop scanned images into individual pictures. Any idea what I may be doing wrong?

Did you try using the crop tool to see if it is working?  See the tool I am talking about.
I suspect you are in Guided Mode rather than in Quick Mode or Expert Mode.

  • Scanjet G4050 Doesn't Scan - Software Component not found error message

    Problem:
I have installed and un/installed the software for this Scanjet G4050. It aways completes the installation successful. All seems fine until I push the SCAN Buttion on the scanner. It launchs the software then abruptly displays an Error! window which says "A required software component was not found..."  then says to reinstall the software. I unistall the software and reinstall with exact same results at least 4 times. I have downloaded the lastest software from the download HP web page with exact results. The error info listed is 8,[(8,0,0)].
The COPY button and software works. I can scan preview the same photo in the copy mode, crop it, etc. and print it, but the SCAN button always fails with the Error! message. I think I can throw this HP Scanjet G4050 scanner a good 25 feet. But before it gets launched.... hmmm... maybe Yardapult?
This is a Windows XP (SP3), Dell Precision 360 system.
9/16/14 After following the Waterboy71's suggestion to post this on the Commercial Forums with zero resulsts, I finally threw in the towel. (I need this scanner for work) Returned the Scanjet G4050. Bought and Epson V550. Scanned the very 1st time. Now I can get back to work. I should have pulled the plug sooner. There's just seems to be too many problems with the G4050. What has happened to HP?

    Hello Edmo13,

  • My Lion does not capture scans from HP Scanjet G4050

I have tried to re-install drivers for the HP Scanjet, update Lion now to 10.7.5 and whatever. Comunication between the scanner and my mac is good with preview etc. and scanning is done until I get the messager "Not fulfilled action. ImageCaptureCore-default-9931". Have read a number of solutions on that defalut, and probably now tried them all without anny success.

I have a Macbook OS 10.8. I had some software from wherever that I don't remember but it worked well, until it crashed and I made the mistake of uninstalling it. I spent days trying to find something that would allow the the HP Scanjet G4050 to scan the 16 slides in the template holder individually. The currently offered driver to use with Image Capture won't separate the 16 slides. Eventually I downloaded the HP photo suite (Scan Pro in the Photosmart suite) that is available in the HP website as software and driver for OS 10.5. It works beautifully. I don't know if it would work on OS 10.9.

  • Had to reload drivers and updates for my HP scanjet G4050, I now enter image scan to scan photos but nowhere is there a "send" button to get them to iPhoto

Since loading Maverick and then, with the assist of Apple Support, I had to reload drivers and updates for my HP scanjet G4050, I now enter image scan to scan photos but nowhere is there a "send" button to get them to iPhoto.

Here are a couple of ideas:
    1. (my favorite) - connect the printer to the router with an Ethernet cable for virtually the same functionality, more speed and fewer connectivity issues.
    2. Reset by turning the printer off, holding # and 6 keys while and for a few seconds after turning it back on.

  • Scanjet G4050, scanning 35 mm slides

I have just bought a Scanjet G4050, because it was able to scan many slides in one scan.
Using a PC wind OS Windows 8.1 x64, and downloaded the driver from HP homepage.
What I experience is, when loaded the frame with 16 slides, that not all slides are recognized, as seen on the screendump below.
I really hope there is a solution to this problem, otherwise my investment in the scanner are waisted, which makes me very unhappy.
    Kind regards

  • Scanning slides on Scanjet 4850 vs. Scanjet G4050 photo scanners

Have new Dell desktop running Windows 8.1, 64.  Old photo scanner HP Scanjet 4850, previously used with Windows XP Media Edition, still works on photo prints but will no longer scan 35 mm slides.  Thinking of buying HP Scanjet G4050 Photo Scanner but first need to know if it is fully compatible with Windows 8.1 and thus will scan my slides.
    This question was solved.

    Hi,
I would first suggest trying a 3rd party scanning application such as VueScan, it shouls support Slides scanning and may provide you a workaround for your current Scanjet 4850, you may install a free trial first and check if that might do the trick for you:
    http://www.hamrick.com/vuescan/hp_scanjet_4850c.html
Other than that, the G4050 do support slides scanning and fully supported on Windows 8.1 with the Full Feature Software below:

  • Need the full functionality for Scanjet G4050 for Mac OS 10.9

I am Mac user and a few years ago I bought the Scanjet G4050, because the quality and good performance scanning photos and 35mm negative films.
I was pretty satisfied by the results and the perfomance of the HP software. I was able to include all the negative films and the program automaticaly scanned, and separate it in files and with the desired quality.
But, with all the upgrades of Mac OS the features and functionality of the software is becoming worse and worse.
I haven't been able to scan for a while with the OS 10.9. Now the last driver is working and I can scan.
But, why have you HP guys removed the old negative scanning funtionality??? It worked perfectly well and now is a disaster.
Please, tell me you are planning to release a new driver with that functionality again. I expect that support from HP.
    Thanks

Try scanning from your Mac. Use Image Capture app in your Applications folder.
Click once on the scanner on the left side, then click on Show Details along the bottom. Along the right side you will see LOTS of options for scanning and saving.

  • G4050 color of scanned images is wrong

    Hello,
I am using the Scanjet G4050. The color of the images I scan in are terribly off. I'm not talking about negatives or slides... I haven't begun to tackle those issues yet. The cartoon images I draw and scan in are way wrong. Is there a patch or recalibration? Thank you

This can be caused by a problem with the color profile for your display monitor or color profiles embedded in images.
You can disable color management to test if the problem is the color profile on the computer.<br />
You can set the pref gfx.color_management.mode to 0 on the about:config page to disable Color Management.<br />
You need to close and restart Firefox to make the change effective.<br />
    See:
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/gfx.color_management.mode
    See:
    * https://developer.mozilla.org/En/ICC_color_correction_in_Firefox
Caveats: The new QCMS color management system introduced in Firefox 3.5 currently only supports ICC version 2 color profiles, not version 4.
To open the <i>about:config</i> page, type <b>about:config</b> in the location (address) bar and press the "<i>Enter</i>" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website.<br />
If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page.<br />
*Use the Filter bar at to top of the about:config page to locate a preference more easily.
*Preferences that have been modified show as bold(user set).
*Preferences can be reset to the default or changed via the right-click context menu.

  • Problems re-installing Scanjet G4050

Hi I have had an HP Scanjet G4050 for a few years and recently we have had a problem with scanning from a picture to a file. We get an error suggesting there is a problem with the TMA. However we can scan from slides & negatives to files, pictures to a HP Photosmart, pictures to email.
I have tried to uninstall the software and re-install, using the latest download from the web (setup_full_G4050_14_5.exe), this installed (after uninstalling the existing software), but when it came to configuring the product we get the message that the file cannot be found. The file in question (scan.msi) can be found where it is searching, when I browse and select the file I get the last error message. which sates that the file is not a valid installation package for the product scan.
I am using Windows 7 Professional 32 bit version and have checked that I have full rights to the .msi file. I have logged in as an administrator.
    Can you help?

Reading some other forum replies I have sucessfully reinstalled the software using the microsoft fixit. However this hasn't resolved the main issue which was that when scanning from a picture to file didn't work, it came up with an error suggesting that there was a problem with the TMA connection. This was most frustrating. However if I scan slides/negatives to file and then change to picture (after making changes to the TMA cover) the scanner will scan pictures to slides. Any Ideas? I am using windows 7 professional on a Dell XPS M1530, it also gives the same problem on my wife's Macbook Pro (running OS Mavericks).

  • Hp laserjet 100 color mfp m175nw won't scan in mac os 10.6.8

    Can anyone help?
This is supposed to be a multifunction printer / scanner / copier.  When I open up the printer via System Preferences, I don't see an option to scan.

    H beermans
I understand you are no longer able to scan since updating to Win 8.1.
Uninstall and reinstall the Win 8 driver again. This should resolve your issue.

    Hi nosweat
I checked online for the drivers for the Scanjet G4050 on Maverick. None available at this time.
When you connect the device to the computer it should do automatic updates. If not run the apple updates.
Here is a document you can try to see if you can scan using the apple preinstalled drivers.

  • Scanjet G4050 and driver 1.3.0 + Mac OSX 10.9.4

I recently returned to the combination Vuescan/Scanjet G4050 for the first ime since March this year (after scanning several thousand negs) and found it no longer worked properly. Vuescan no longer recognised the transparancy capabilities of the scanner, but flatbed scans were OK.
I decided to update to the latest driver 1.3.0.
Now on startup the scanner makes an extra noise (a long whine) for ca 30 seconds and the indicator light then flashes (for ever?) turning it off and back on again returns it to a normal standby.
But now Vuescan hangs on startup, or sometimes suceeds on opening but will not respond to scan requests. The scanner sort of works with Image Capture through System Preferences but it is very slow and the images are posterized.
Vuescan is working perfectly with my other scanner, and I have even tried earlier versions of it with this driver with the same results.
THe HP utility is also crashing now and the uninstall program sees nothing.
I have been advised by Ed Hamrick at Vuescan to use the 32 bit version of the program to sidestep this. That hasn't worked yet... will try a complete restart but i'm sending this whatever the result as there seems to be something wrong with this driver...
    Utility crash report:
    https://www.dropbox.com/s/brma1ymqflzdte3/HP%20Utiliy%20crash%20report.txt?dl=0
    Recent crashes and spins:
    https://www.dropbox.com/sh/2v5vngsyk6yqtar/AABCUy1UKD-wzcSVtvACgYaMa?dl=0

OK, using the 32 bit version of Vuescan worked with this driver, even if it behaved differently (scans twice) and the scanner is still behaving oddly at start-up (30 second whine then straight into energy save mode)
