HP Scanjet N6310 & HP Scanjet 5590 - Unable to Colour Scan On Flatbed at 2,400 DPI

Hi,
Recently I purchased a HP Scanjet N6310 scanner and have attempted to do an A4 size  high quality colour scan on the flatbed at 2,400 dpi. However, I get the following error in the Image Capture  software which says :"Scanner reported an error : The image size is too big. Please reduce the image height, width, resolution, scaling or output type". I have expereinced exactly the same error message also using a HP Scanjet 5590. I supect the same error message may apply to all Scanjets using the Image Capture software on a Mac platform.
Am I correct to assume that both the N6310 and 5590 Scanjets have an optical spec of 2,400 dpi x 2,400 dpi ? IF that is correct as I believe it should be, then there must be some reason for the error. I have seen some other posts in the HP Forums about the same issue, but the question still remains unresolved. I am using a MacPro (late 2013) with 32 GB of 1867 Mhz DDR3 memory and Mac OS X 10.9.4. Futher I have installed the lastest HP Scanjet Installer software, version 1.3.0, dated January 2014. Finally, I reported the issue to Apple technical support and await a response back.
Regards,
Paul

  • I can't get photoshop CS6 to import from my HP scanjet 5590?

I can't get photoshop CS6 to import from my HP scanjet 5590? I have tried plug ins, and reinstally scanner software but it only recognizes my main scanner/printer!

Hello & Welcome to the forums,
but it only recognizes my main scanner/printer!
Does this mean your HP Scanjet 5590 is a 2nd scanner you have on your computer?
Are you able to scan with 5590 on a different application? Is it only Photoshop that is giving you this problem?
Please let us know details about your operating system and its version too.
Do tell us how you're trying to 'import' pictures from your 5590 scanner.

I installed Mavericks 10.9 on my macbook Air last night and my 4890 Scanjet is unable to scan and save documents.  Is there a fix for this, or must I wait for HP to provide a driver for system 10.9?

  • Software and Drivers for an HP Scanjet 5590 with a 64 bit Windows 7 computer.

I thought that I had posted the following question but as I can't find it I will try again.  I have been given a HP Scanjet 5590 scanner with no Software or Drivers for 64 bit Windows 7 computer and looking through the Web I saw some awful comments on the experiences of those using the software and drivers.  I don’t want to make the same mistake so could anyone tell me how to go about obtain the correct software and drivers?

    Corporal,
Here is the link for the software...
If you have the "p" model, backtrack a the link and reselect the proper model.
You want the "Full Feature" software.
Note that the download size is 315MB - plan accordingly if you have a slow connection...
While you are there, be sure to download the Print Doctor utiltity.  (Do that first, it is tiny.)  This may help later with installation and connection issues, if needed.)

  • I should have left things alone...HP Scanjet 5590 installer hangs

I had a fairly easy OS X 10.5 upgrade. In my incredible wisdom i decide to go back and clean up some installation. I removed the driver for my HP Scanjet 5590 and tried to reinstall it. About 1/3 of the way through the installation the installer hangs with 8 items to go. It wont complete no matter what I do. I was working after the OS 10.5 upgrade but I decided i would reinstall both my photosmart 3310 and scanjet 5590. The photosmart 3310 installer works perfectly. I removed all pieces of both installs and just tired to install the 5590 with no luck. Does anyone know any solution? Is there a problem with some installers hanging? It says it uses rosetta and its supposedly an universal binary. I have a email into HP support but sometimes I'd rather go to the dentist and have my teeth pulled then deal with them. I may just need to wait and have them fix this but I thought i would query the os x 10.5 community and see if ther was any hope. Thanks! Ira

I HAD the same problem. I decided to look within the package contents of the COL10829.dmg file I downloaded from HP. I worked my way into it until I found a directory called Sub Installers. I executed ONLY "HP Scan Pro" and "HP Scanjet 2400" (my model). It installed w/o issue. My conclusion is that it is one of the other Sub Installers that is causing the problem. My GUESS is that it's the "HP Image Zone v9.0 Help" installer as there have been some changes in the way help works in 10.5. Just a guess... but it works.

  • Scanjet 5590 solution center not there with win7

I have used my scanjet 5590 for a number of years with OS Vista.  I have just wiped my hard drive clean (reformat) and done a total clean install of Win 7 64bit.  I have installed setup_full_5590_14-5 and have NO solution center available.  I have installed setup_basic_5590_14-5 and do have functionality of the scanner - however , as you know, very basic.  Please help me get my SOLUTION CENTER BACK.  Thanks

    Hello skidog
Thank you for posting on the HP Forums!
I understand Solution Center is not running anymore. For a significant list of troubleshooting steps, please reference this thread, where the steps should resolve the issue: HP deskjet D2300 series driver not working in windows 7
However, this is a commercial product. If you still require assistance, please post this issue on the HP Enterprise Forums

  • Unable to view scanned PDF files

I registered for Adobe ExportPDF in February. Since then Adobe on my PC was upgraded, and now I am unable to view scanned PDF files. What can be done about this?
    Thanks
    Rika

    Hi David
The update that was done in response to a prompt was done to 10.1.9. Something apparently went wrong, because when I uninstalled it and reinstalled 11.0.06 everything worked fine.
    Thanks
    Rika

I am unable to open scanned documents (with .jpg file extension) in my e-mail inbox, on the Mail app on my iPad. Please provide a clear answer. Thanks a lot.

Can you actually see that the attachment has a .jpg extension?  Some mail systems strip it off (I've seen AOL do that) which makes the attachment difficult to open.

  • On an M425dn, I am unable to setup scan to network folder on a home wireless network

On an M425dn MFP, I am unable to setup 'Scan to Network Folder' on a home wireless network. The network folder exists and has been set to share with full permissions for everyone. The OS is Windows 7. The printer IP address is 192.168.1.104. I have used this in a browser to access the setup tab called Scan. I have established a network folder and have attempted to test the setup folder multiple times. The tests end in one of two ways. The attempt spins endlessly which requires a cancel action or it ends with the following error: "Cannot connect to the network folder. Ensure the shared folder name is correct." The network folder does indeed exist.
The computer name is Delta. The shared folder name is Images on my A: drive.
So the network path entered is \\DELTA\Images. By the way, printing to this network printer is always a succesful operation. Any guidance to solving this dilemma will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

  • HT3669 Neither my HP Scanjet 5590 Nor my Canon imagePROGRAF W8400 work with Mountain Lion. I'm Out $7000 going to Mountain Lion

I'm out roughly $7000 going to Mountain Lion.
It's a good thing I didn't toss my Snow Leopard machine.

Hi John and Shlomi...thanks for messaging!
Tried to fix the and did the install with 10.7 patch on the 10.6 software but i keep getting this message...
Followed the error message's suggested actions but no dice.
In terms of using another software, I haven't been able to add the scanner under Printers and Scanners in the System Preferences because the computer doesn't "find" it...
I think I might just have to hold out - HP has said:
"The HP Scanjet software update will be available for supported products on www.hp.com/go/support in early Fall 2012.
In the meantime, you can use the OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) AND the OS X 10.7 (Lion) drivers and software until the Mountain Lion update becomes available."

It's working great using ADF for single side scanning.
I can't find the WHAT ARE YOU SCANNING?  dialog box to select YES, SCAN BOTH SIDES.
I am scanning to HP Photosmart Studio and using a MAC.
    Any ideas?

When I scan HP Scanjet 8300 35mm the horizontal lines at 2400 dpi ..  please tell me how can I calibrate the scanner.. or how could I control the light of TMA .. anybody If know about any software regarding this please reply me at [email protected]

[mi] EQ overflowing. The server is probably stuck in an infinite loop.
Seems a little suspicious, though its kind of a generic error message.  Lots and lots of google hits on that one.
Are you sure none of the libs or executables for xorg-* got damaged before the system called for an fsck?  The power went out on me once and my hard drive "forgot" about 75% of my kernel modules, although it was a conventional hard drive and not an SSD.
    try re-installing some packages:
    pacman -S xorg xf86-video-ati ati-dri libgl
(any more anyone can think of?)

Is your copy of that bootchart that blurry or is flicker messing with it?  It looks like its been resized even at largest setting. I can hardly read it.
