HP Scanner drivers?

My bubble iMAC runs on OS 10.4, it used to have OS 9 on it as well. Is it possible to get a driver (in the UK) for an HP Scanjet 5470c? The scanner works fine, it used to work fine on OS 9 but when the MAC went to its doctor recently he appears to have removed OS 9 and now I can't use the scanner.
Any thoughts
Thanks

  • Windows 8.1 can't use older Brother DCP8040 network scanner drivers

There are a  lot of older multifunction centers and scanners that will not scan across a network to a windows 8.1 pc. Upon migration to 8.1 many of us are losing our ability to scan across our networks.  I have a lot of Brother DCP8040 machines
out there.  Brother refuses to rewrite and support network scanning capabilities under win 8.1 for its older machines.  The drivers we now have support network scanning under XP, Vista and win 7... but not under win 8.1.  Win 8.1 cannot
find the scanner on the network.  I can connect a DCP8040 directly to a win 8.1 pc, load the drivers and both print and scan.  I can print across the network, but cannot scan.  Again, windows 8.1 cannot find the scanner on the network.
Anyone know of any 3rd party solution where the older scanner drivers can be used under win 8.1?  My clients refuse to migrate to win 8.1 as it means they have to trash the older MFC's and make considerable investments in new equipment.
I am reading that the same problems are being experienced with older HP, Epson, and Cannon scanners.  Someone has to come up with a generic solution.

Maybe you've been at it too long.  That is an answer/comment in typical MS big business mentality.  You are dramatizing the whole thing to suit your premise.  You are overestimating the time necessary to write the driver and you are understating
the significance/size of the problem and the potential return. Stocks of the Brother DCP8040 are still being sold new and refurnished.  Literally millions of other brands and models are being affected.  So it is not like these machines wont be around
tomorrow.  Its not like the problem is not significant enough to draw attention.
If you've really been around that long, go back and think about when you started.  If I had a dime for every solution that was sold as freeware "as is"  with no support and the condition "if it works, if works, if not,
sorry".  But so many have worked and have provided a solution.
I am not suggesting that anyone should jeopardize their personal or corporate well being or devote their entire work week to solve the problem. There are many out there who will write the thing and put it out there as freeware, collecting
donations, just to see if they can do it or help the situation.  There are those who even relax buy doing such things, "solving the problem."  I mean, if it takes 5-40 hours work, I would be surprised. I myself can write, but I just don't
understand enough about the workings of a printer driver across a network to do the job.
Again, WHERE ARE YOU?  And the proof in my words would be for someone to take the task and do it. Again, HEY, WHERE ARE YOU GUYS?

I tried to find my epson scanner 3170 driver in mac APP store as is suggested in epson web page:

Anyone knows how to get the driver for epson scanner 3170 for Yosemite?
    thank you

The OS doesn't download scanner "drivers." If the scanner is ICA compliant, you can scan with Image Capture. If it is not, or you wan to use Epson's (or anyone else's) software, you have to download it from them.
There is an ICA driver installed for the Epson Perfection 3170 as noted here: OS X: Printer and scanner software available for download - Apple Support

  • Epson Scanner Drivers

With my new iMac using Mountain Lion 10.8.2, I find I cannot use my Epson Stylus Photo RX620 scanner using Apple Image Capture software.
I can take an overview, but cannot capture the final scan because a scanner error occurs.
It suggests updating the driver, but Apple's update server has been unavailable for some time now for downloading printer/scanner drivers.
Epson's scanner software is unavailable for Mountain Lion.
I've tried downloading the entire Epson driver library to no avail.
Using my MacBook with Snow Leopard, I have no problem using this scanner with Image Capture.
    Suggestions appreciated.

Edward, I am 99% certain that you will.
From looking recently at the Epson site, their mention of Intel macs is to inform us that their drivers now also work with the dreaded Intel Macs despite Rosetta.
It will certainly work with OS 10.4.6 - I have the Epson Perfection 3490 and that works a treat.

I wasn't aware that VueScan charged a yearly license.
You simply launch Image Capture and if the scanner is recognized it will be listed in the SHARED list in the left display column.  Select the scanner name and the app will start an overview scan.  You will also see a list of scanning options in the right display column (resolution, paper size, file output format, etc.
The above description is when everything is working correctly, which has been the case for me.
    Good luck.

I have down loaded printer, scanner drivers and 2 applications Navigator and Network from Canon's website. I cannot seem to get these to run althought the printer works when connected to the Mac with a LAN cable Canon's documentation is useless because it relies on downloading a disc which you cannot do without a CD drive that MacBook Air does not have. Any suggestions appreciated.

Hi John. Thanks for that input. At Step 6, after clicking "Next" I get a window telling me my OS version is unsupported and the installation may not complete. I am prompted to go to Canon's web site to "Check Latest Info".
I've had this window on previous attempts and from Canon's web site I downloaded two drivers as follows
    - ICA Driver V4.0.0
    - Canon IJ Network Tool V4.5.0
I'm not sure if these are the correct / complete drivers I need for this install or not.
I continue to follow all the steps. At step 9 I click "Wireless Set Up using USB" amd get a License Agreement (a little different than instructions)
I click "Agree" and it goes to a Setup window with two progress bars showing the installation. I've not been prompted to connect the USB?
After the Setup window is done, I am then prompted to connect the printer via USB. I connect the printer and click on "Redetect". It is not detected.
I then try following the Canon on screen instructions for connecting to the wireless LAN amd enter the password. It searches and indicates "Connecting" on the window, but it never connects and the blue light just blinks
So, at this point I am stuck??
    Thanks

  • I finally solved my Canon LiDE Scanner Drivers install problem

I see there are many threads about LiDE (20/30/80 etc) Canoscan scanners no longer working under Snow Leopard. I had so much trouble and so many re-installs that I was wondering if 64-bit was never going to function with the old (2003) Canon software and drivers. My error was rudimentary - I failed to properly uninstall the scanner driver before I reinstalled. Here's how to clean install LiDE software:
Go to the website and get the 2008 or 2009 downloads: http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=SupportIndexAct
Start with selecting your Canon scanner series. Next click "OS" and then "OS X". The next part is annoying in that you have to download 3 things, but each one requires a licence "agreement" - and the refreshed page is a little clumsy to work.
When you have downloaded the latest software - use the Canon uninstall software first. It takes a few minutes to finish, but it will finish. Next install the ToolBox software so that the Driver will have a place to go later. Next install the Driver.
I believe you can do the above if you already have the ToolBox (without removing the ToolBox). Just properly uninstall the Driver and then install the newest 2008 or 2009 Driver from the Canon website.
My mistakes from the beginning were: 1.) to install old drivers, then to 2.) install the newer Driver OVER the old Driver, or 3.) to install the Driver first (before the ToolBox).
I was sooo surprised when it finally worked - I couldn't believe these details matter so much!
    Cheers

This didn't quite work for me — almost but not quite.
Download the relevant drivers, the Deldrv program and the Toolbox from Canon as suggested.
    First run the DELDRV uninstaller.
I found that this did not properly deal with everything! I could load the Scan program but everything crashed when I pressed SCAN. So:
Delete any existing Scan Toolbox from your user directory. — use APPZAP if you have it.
    Install the Toolbox.
Install the relevant driver. I received an error message to say that some files could not be found on installation. Despite this the installer returned the installation complete message.
If Canoscan still refuses to work follow this:
Open two finder windows (or use Path Finder) so that you have the LIDE (or driver) folder open in one and Route - MacintoshHD/Library/CFM Support in another.
    Open this.
In the driver's folder open Intro Lib_SFM Support.
Copy these over into the Library/CFM Support directory (even if the files look as if they are identical).
    r
Have a good look through the diver folder. It is quite easy to find where some of the folder files fit into the Library structure but you should find most of these are there already.
For me it was the installation of the CFM files that cracked it !!!

  • Epson Perfection V500 Photo Scanner Drivers

I receive this message when I try to activate my Epson Scanner under OS X 10.9:
"You can't use this version of the application "EPSON Scan.app" with this version of OS X.
    You have "EPSON Scan.app" 3.2.4"
When I go to the Epson site to download the proper drivers, it says I can only download the update from the Apple Store using Software Update. When I run Software Update it doesn't show any updates for the Epson scanner.
How do I get the proper update?
    Thanks,
    George

    This is what came up:
    On the link - http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3669
    It does say:
Important: Use Software Update before connecting a printer or scanner. This updates your Mac's database of the latest supported printer and scanner models. If you don't use Software Update before attempting to connect a new printer, you may not see available software when you connect your device.

  • Scanner drivers??

I have an older but still very functional Epson Perfection 636U Scanner. It was working fine until I installed leopard. Now I have no drivers. I have gone to the Epson site but their drivers are the originals for mac classic. My printer is of the same vintage but the drivers for that are fine. Does anyone have any suggestions?
    Thanks in advance, Carl

    I have same problem.........
Both two of my scanners, EPSON 636U and HP scanjet 4600, cannot be used under Leopard.
I was thinking about reinstall OS X 10.4.x, but I found that bootcamp is no longer available for download. (I still have some software need to run under Windows). So, I didn't do it after back up all the files.....
    Here are some resolutions.
    1. Buy a new scanner (don't ask what Leopard can do for you, ask what you can buy for vist..........Leopard)
    2. Downgrade to the previous version of OS X ( but Hey! don't give up on vi......Leopard...)
    3. If you are running more than one OS, use your scanner under other platform. (I know it sounds ridiculous, but as a mac user, I have to use my scanner under xp.....)
    Hope this may help.

  • Epson scanner drivers broken?

I've got an Epson 1640SU USB scanner that worked just fine with my PowerBook G4 running 10.4.6. Now I've got a MacBook Pro (also 10.4.6) and the scanner won't work at all.
If I try to scan from Photoshop, both the scanner software and Photoshop will crash and die with no error message. If I try to use the scanner software standalone, it crashes and dies all by itself.
I'm using Epson's allegedly "updated for Mac Intel" drivers, downloaded from their website, but it appears that no one ever actually tested them. Is anyone else having this problem?

I am having exactly the same problem with my canon lide 500
Have downloaded everything poss application runs ect only will not recognise scanner.
Have even tried image capture to no avail

  • Deleting Scanner Drivers

Hi - New to Mac, and I just downloaded the drivers for my old Epson 2450 photo scanner. The bundle contained drivers for four other Epson scanners and I ended up loading all five. Not that it's a big deal, but I like to keep as much junk off of my hard drives as possible. Question is: how can I find and delete the drivers for the four unneeded scanners?
    Thanks!

I had the exact same pet peeve. I finally resorted to using the Epson install/uninstall dmg file. I uninstalled all models then did a custom installation selecting only the 2450 model.
It took a couple of cycles of quiting applications, logging off and restarting my scanner before my mac finally recognized it and allowed me to go straight into the scan mode without first selecting a model type.

  • Finding scanner drivers

I didn't know where else to ask this question so I'll try here.........
I have an Epson Perfection 1640 scanner that I had to download drivers for from Epson when I installed OS 10.5.6 and everything works just fine. My problem is minor, really not even a problem, just an annoyance.
When importing from Photoshop CS2 I go to File/Import/Epson Perfection 1640 but along with the 1640 listed it also has 4 other models listed, obviously because those drivers were bundled with the 1640's downloaded for Epson.
What I want to know is where in the heck are these drivers downloaded to? I've searched and searched but can't find a thing. I'd like to remove all drivers for scanners except for the 1640 so the others will no longer show up.
Anyone have a idea how I can do this?
    Thanks,
    Jack

Sorry Jack, mine are all-in-ones. Have s=you tried Spotlight to find the drivers? Also, take a look at Library>Preferences>.plists, they may be hiding there. Or they may simply be in Library itself.

  • Uninstall Scanner Drivers

Hi.  I'm hoping someone can help me.
I used to use a Canon scanner, which I have no replaced.  I noticed that I still get the drivers appearing briefly in my icon dock when I start the machine, so I assume they're running a process that I no longer need.
How do I get rid of them?  They're in the Users / Shared / Library / N067U folder, and is called 'N067U Bundle'
Deleting doesn't work - because they're in use on startup, so can't be deleted.
    Many thanks.
    Richey

    Might start with >SystemPreferences>Accounts>Log-in items
Remove the the Canon from the list by using the minus sign. You can kill the active process in Activity Monitor or reboot and delete your folder.
See if this does it,  if not we can go deeper.

  • MicroTek scanner drivers hose your boot drive!

Hoping an actual Apple person will read this and tell me how this should be handled. I've actually solved the problem with my own Mac, now I want to make sure the root cause is dealt with appropriately.
There is a hardware vendor, MicroTek, who makes scanners. I have one, model i700. The scanners seem to be good hardware with good features, but the software leaves lots to be desired--it's clunky, very un-Maclike, and fragile. Any minor problem or upgrade requires a ponderous cleanup of old files spread all over the system and a full reinstall.
I was hoping their latest software would improve things, so I downloaded version 7.61 from their website and did an install. Towards the end, when it was installing plug-ins (for PhotoShop, etc. I presume) my MacBook Pro gradually stopped responding and eventually ground to a halt. After waiting a long, long time for it to recover, I did a hard reset. Upon startup it just stuck at the grey screen with the spinning gear. Did some troubleshooting and couldn't recover, and since it was pretty similar to many a disk crash I've had, and AppleCare agreed, I sent it in for a new HD.
Since I still needed to do some scanning, I whipped out my backup PowerBook G4 and tried installing the same drivers. Boom. Same behavior. Now I have two dead machines, and it's pretty clear that the problem with the first one was NOT a bad drive after all but a driver install screwing up the OS. I reinstalled this Mac from scratch and tried again. Same thing. After a discussion with an incredulous support tech at MicroTek who was adamant that their software installer could do no such thing (and who eventually hung up on me), I did a search on these very forums and found a post from someone who had hosed their Mac by resetting permissions on their root filesystem.
So, I booted the Mac into single user mode (which worked) and checked out the filesystem. Sure enough--the entire directory tree from the root all the way down to the ScanMaker folder under Applications was set to the wrong owner, and permissions of 700, making the Mac incapable of accessing itself in order to boot. I fixed these up, and blam, it now boots fine. This behavior is reproducible every time. I've done it 5 or 6 times now on multiple Macs.
My question is this--how do I get the vendor to fix this problem? I've gotten around it myself, but this is a huge deal--anyone installing this thing is going to hose their boot volume and NOBODY is going to know how to fix it when it happens. Can Apple sanction these guys somehow, or do I need to slashdot them to embarrass them into it, or what?
    Thanks for your input...
    /mike

Same thing happened to me - after waiting almost a year for Microtek to update its software so I could use my scanner again, the installation hung and completely hosed my system. Luckily, before restarting I noticed that my hard drive had the international red slash "NO" through it, so at least I knew the problem was probably permission related.
Disk utility refused to even try to repair permissions (the underlying operation quit), and I was not completely comfortable with manually resetting the permissions in single-user mode. I was able to start up in target disk mode, and confirmed that my root (hard drive) permissions were set to Everyone->No access. I changed this to Everyone->Read Only and did NOT copy that to the enclosing folders. I figured this was reasonably safe, and did not require my knowing what all the permissions should be set to. I then restarted from the install disk and ran disk utility, and sure enough, it now had enough access to repair the rest of the permissions itself.
As for you larger question, publicize. I liked my scanner (Microtek ScanMaker 6000), but after a) waiting a year for a simple driver upgrade and then b) having that driver installation fail so catastrophically, I won't be buying any Microtek products any time soon (for home or work). And I certainly won't recommend Microtek scanners to anyone (unless I really don't like them).
