HP simple pass - HP 15-g021nr Notebook PC

HP 15-g021nr Notebook PC - Model J9L81UA#ABA - I am trying to get the HP simple running with the Fingerprint scanner, I have downloaded all the necessary files: SP67379, SP68419, SP66143, SP64339, SP63752, MY Bios ver is F.32, Now it says that my model has this feature, However, it tells me to look for the Biometric device in Device manager, and I do not have that. Also, for the Validity Fingerprint Sensor Driver. It is not listed under my Driver - Keyboard, Mouse, and Input Devices section, Any help would be great.
FYI: I have been using the simple pass just using a password to start off and it functions just fine in Internet Explorer, I switch to Chrome and it does not want to pop up when its suppose to for a new site.
I hope this is fixable..

Hello and thank you for posting on the HP support forums. It seems as if you have done the correct steps in trying to resolve your SimplePass issue as far as you can with software and drivers.
One thing you may want to try is to do this while in safe mode. If you go in and boot your system into safe mode. In safe mode you can remove the software and drivers dealing with the biometrics. Once that is done then reboot into normal windows mode.
Windows 8 Safe Mode
Reinstall the drivers now and see if it picks up the hardware. If it does not then back up all your data and have any software you have installed ready to reload. Now you will want to do a full system recovery back to out of box configuration.
Windows 8 System Recovery
If you biometrics are still not showing up at this point you would want to look into a repair. For this you will want to call HP phone support.

HP Pavilion DV6 Notebook / Simple Pass Inactive

I have a HP Pavilion DV6 notebook. The Simple Pass program has been set up and was working for a year and all of a sudden I stopped getting the prompt to scan my finger as I accessed registered websites needing logins. My fingerprint reader still works because I am prompted to scan to unlock my laptop. I just doesn't work on website logins. Suggestions to fix???

Simple Pass not working with Windows 7 Premium

I have a Pavillion Notebook, model dv6-6b51sa running Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit O/S
For some time now my Simple Pass has not worked. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the programme but to no avail. I have read several posts to the community here and have tried just about all recommendations including; hard reset, system restore (in case it had anything to do with Windows updates) a BIOS update and shutting down and rebooting after each process.
Now, having reinstalled Simple Pass (from the HP Support website) , biometric devices do not even feature in Device Manager!
Can anyone kindly offer me assistance?

Welcome to HP Forums! I will be happy to help with the SimplePass problem you are experiencing. The fact you are missing a biometric device in your Device Manager would be a problem because for it to work you need the software and the accompanying biometric device. Here is the Validity Fingerprint Sensor Driver, install that and then see if you are able to use your fingerprint reader.

Pavilion dv8t 1200 - simple pass/digital persona software won't install

Howdy,
Windows 7 Home Premimum 64 bit
Intel Core i7 Q720 @1.60GHz
Pavilion dv8t - 1200 Notebook PC
The reader worked fine for the first few months/year, however it then only started working for signing in & occasionaly for sites & gTalk. I was cool with that...annoyed, but cool. Oh, it also didn't work to sign in if I had to sign in again after the screen saver came up or if the machine went into hybernate.
Today I decided to see if there was an update or if I could get it working for something other than signing in. After installing what was most likely the wrong package, I uninstalled it through the Program Manager.
I then shut down the machine, ran CCleaner (there were digital persona errors removed...about 8) & went to install sp50048 which I believe is the correct one for my machine.
During the install it tells me the folder/files already exist, (even though I uninstalled it) & ithey do, then at the instal phase "Registering Modules" I receive the following error:
Error 1722
InstallDPPassFilter_x64.4D0EAAF1_2D33_4FFF_AA08_6...
And then in rolls it back.
I turned off the biometric devices in the control panel, ran CCleaner again, shut the machine down completely, tried installing again & had the same issue.
I turned the biometrics on in the control panel & recieve this message:
"Biometric devices are turned on, however I'm told “Windows did not find any biometric devices on this computer. You might need to attach your device or install device drivers.”
I have tried a few methods from 'solved' under both simple pass & digital persona

Thank you for your advice, however it did not work out.
Addressing each point in succession:
I can not get Digital Persona to install, therefore I can not interact with it hence none of the steps in the Setup and Use HP SimplePass Fingerprint Reader were available to moi.
Troubleshoot a Fingerprint Reader did not solve the issue, however I did go through the steps there so I shall describe my results in an effort to see if it helps home in on the problem.
All files used to update were pulled from the hp.com site using my Product Number.
Update the BIOS - BIOS was up to date
Enable Biometric Support (in BIOS) - Following the instructions it appears mine is always in the state: Enable
Check for Windows Support - Validity Sensor appears under Biometric Devices in the Device Manager
Update the Device Driver - (Had deleted the driver previously, so installed & updated) - Updated/Installed
Update the Access Manager - Attempted to install Digital Persona 5.1.0.175 A, but again during the install it gave me the same error (as my original post describes) & did not install.
As a final note, Windows does not see the reader in the Control Panel (large icons) Biometric devices even though it is turned on.
The reader worked fine before I tried to update it to a newer version & I still believe I installed an incorrect version of the Simple Pass software.

Hp Simple Pass Not working with Bank Accounts?

I bought the HP Envy Touvhsmart j-158ca, but i am having lots of trouble using this for loging into my bank accounts ( TD Canada Trust, Scotia Bank, Bank of Montreal..., any bank...). I cannot login to these banks at all. I contacte the Hp department, they asked me to perform a driver update, BIOS update, REcovery, Unistall/Reinstall Simple Pass,....... Has HP downgraded its new fingerprint reader from Digital Persona? The old Digital Persona used to login to any of these bank accounts flawlesssly, but now, its impossible with the new Simple Pass.
Can someone confirm if HP has really downgraded its finger print reader.
I want to return this laptop now, because this simple pass doesnt work anymore! for banks!.

HP Simple Pass not working with fingerprint snanner

I have just purchased a new laptop namely the HP Envy 17. One of the primary reasons for me aquiring this product as apposed to other similar products was due to the built in fingerprint scanner. You can imgine my disbelief when i now discover that the windows version 8.1 pre-loaded on this unit doesnt work with the scanner or the built in scanner sofeware HP Simple Pass.
Can anyone assist with a simple fix as this has really blurred my perception of HP products as a whole.

It appears that the HP Simplepass isn't working correctly for you. I will try to assist you with this.
Start by making sure all updates have been completed on the notebook.
After that try this document: Troubleshooting a Fingerprint Reader (Windows 8).

HP Simple pass now useless?

After the recent chrome update, HP simple pass does not work for it anymore when I try to use it log into sites.
Stoped working for IE a while ago and I don't think it even ever worked with FireFox.
All the fringer print reader is good now for is logging on to computer.
Some i'm guessing we will never get another update from authentec because Apple brought them out?

I understand your fingerprint reader has stopped working after doing a system recovery.
A good place to start would be to check the options for Biometric Support in your Control Panel. You are looking for an option to "Allow users to log in to Windows with there fingerprints." If this is the option that is uncheckable in your post I would suggest going through the document below.
It would be best to go through each step in the order they are listed. Troubleshooting a Fingerprint Reader (Windows 8).
It would also help to know which ENVY product you have. There are two ENVY 1216tx products, the HP ENVY 6-1216tx Sleekbook or, the HP ENVY m6-1216tx Notebook PC.
Please let me know which of these you have to better assist you if the above steps do not resolve your issue, as well as any new information after completing the troubleshooting.

Simple pass not working - It was working fine till today morning

I am having a "HP ENVY 15t-j100 Select Edition CTO Notebook PC " . Simple pass was working fine till today morning now all of a sudden it is showing an error message "Sensor not connected.Please connect sensor and try again" .
I tried the maximum methods for troubleshooting like uninstalling and reinstalling driver , software , updating them any many others.
the finger print sensor is working during log in and other occasions. but simple pass is not working.
My OS is Windows 8.1 (64 bit)

I see that your Simplepass was working until this morning when it was not. You have uninstalled and reinstalled software and updated the drivers but no change.
Was there any updates installed?
Have you tried dong a restore back to when it was all working? HP PCs - Using Microsoft System Restore (Windows 8)
Next I would do a Refresh Your PC to Resolve Problems (Windows 8).
If the issue still remains I suggest you do a recovery back to factory. HP PCs - Performing an HP System Recovery (Windows 8) . During the recovery process you will notice an option to backup your personal files to prevent data loss. If you have not recently done one I suggest you do one now.

HP Simple Pass not working correctly

When I first bought my HP Envy 15.6" Notebook the HP Simple Pass worked correctly. It would save my passwords and it would also log me in using my finger print. After a few altercations with updating and having to recover my laptop, HP Simple Pass constantly asks for my passwords, will never connect to servers, and has no finger print software anymore. All of my drivers are up to date. What do I need to do to fix this problem?

Get your full Model number or Product number from the Service Tag attached to bottom of laptop (may be under battery)
How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number
Once you have the info, use the button at top of this page titled "Support", then click "Download drivers" from the menu. Enter your Product Number. After entering PN click 'Go". On the next page use the dropdown menu to select your Operating System, click Next. A list will populate with drivers/software. Get the latest Validity Driver and SimplePass Software.

Simple pass not working - Win 10 Preview

Hi, Simple pass is not working on Windows 10. When I load it up it says that I seem to have some trouble - do you want to try again... but I don't get any further... trying the Win 10 Preview log in (PC Settings) with finger print gives an error. Validity Sensor Driver Version Information Control Panel > set icon view > Device Manager >Open category Biometric Devices > Right-Click on Validity Sensor Driver >Properties > tab Driver > check Driver Version ============================================================== Although nothing is certain, and I am not yet running Windows 10, I can offer the following: IF you are running at least Valdity Sensor Version 4.3.0.205.0,then you might be able to switch over to Series 8 HP SimplePass. You will lose all your existing Webcard passwords -- this Series / version program is NOT compatible with Series 6 (previous) versions of HP SimplePass. =============================================================== If you were really running Digital Persona on your older notebook with Windows 7, then I do not have a solution using the onboard fingerprint hardware on that notebook.  The problem...In almost every case, the older Validity Sensor Driver (V2.x) that run on older notebooks with Digital Persona software do not support SimplePass because the Validity Driver cannot be updated to the minimum required to suppport HP SimplePass program.   The Digital Persona program does not run on Windows 8.x.. You have to be able to change the driver AND the program on which the driver depends. It is a case of "you cannot get there from here".  You could purchase a Softex USB Mini-fingerprint Reader that MIGHT work with Windows 10 and then Windows 10 MIGHT work with the Series 8 HP SimplePass program. HP Simple Pass not working with Windows 8.1 64bit

I had been using HP Simple Pass with my HP ENVY dv 6 64-bit (Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3630QM CPU @ 2.40GHz). Now with installation of some updates during last few weeks, the HP Simple Pass is not working. I have downloaded sp61399 package and reinstalled the software but at the time of registering finger, it says "it looks you're having some trouble. Do you want to try again" I have tried again and again but the result is same. I also downloaded "HP SimplePass_V6.0.100.276.msi" and tried to install it but its install never completes and is terminated asking for another file in the middle. Please let me know how I can get rid of this problem?

Simple Pass Access to Windows problem

Hi,I am asking this on behalf of my brother who has a new laptop and gave his Windows password to Simple pass but now when he tries to log in it comes up with this message and won't let him in: Access to Windows cannot be granted until you authenticate will all your required devices. What does this mean, and how can he get past it? Please help we are getting to the hair-tearing stage!

This is getting old. Every time Firefox updates, my fingerprint scanner stops working. How can I make it work?

Simple Pass don't support websides

I have reinstalled Simple Pass sp 56487 but it doesn't support websides, i.d. simples pass don't automatically starts, when I sign in on a webside. I have marked the webbox in the registrery. Anyone nows how to fix this. I have a supporter from HP in Denmark to look at it, but after an hour she gave up and referred me to this forum.

I came across your post about the Notebook, and wanted to assist you! I have looked into your issue about your HP Notebook and issues with HP SimplePass Fingerprint Reader not supporting Web Sites. First thing I would check it enable biometric support in this document.If that does not help I would suggest taking a look at this document on adjusting the Fingerprint Reader. Simplepass does not work in some Chrome until you try. 1. Click the Start button2. Type 'programs'3. Click Programs and Features4. Let the list populate and scroll down to find Google Chrome. Click on it and the version will be shown at the bottom of the window. Note that and post it in your reply, please.5. Scroll down to HP SimplePass. Click on it to see the version. This explains that if both programs are up-to-date and the extension is enabled. Hope this helps. Thanks.
