Hp Simple Pass on Windows 10 [Solution]

Hello guys Here i found a solution after searching lot of solution   I got it working on my pavilion dv6 6170us hope this works on all who had this problem   Problems you  got : (Windows 10)My Fingerprint sensor not working on my hp laptopMy Vilidity sensory not recognized my sensorMy biometric sensor not working... cause of drivers Unable to install the drivers on Finger scanner blob blob blob.......................the only solution is here   Step : 1  First you need to Enable Biometric from adminstration  1.  click on win+R ( this opens Run ) and Enter this code "gpedit.msc" as in screenshot Below
   2. This will open Local Group Plolicy Editor Follow the Screen shots      Double clik on the " Allow the Use of Biometrics " then enable it -> apply and set ok and close all the windows and reboot the system   Now you are almost done...............   Step : 2 ( This is main and the Step 1 too )
 1.  Click on win+x there select device manager
   2. Make sure you should be running this version of validity sensor ( Follow Screen shot below )    If not then Uninstall the drivers and Install them From WIndows update ( not by Hp drivers )  So that windows will install the required files which need  This is because of Windows Hello Now you are done with is ( you should be sure about these 2 steps else nothing works )   Step : 3 There are 2 options for us to use  1. Winsows Finger Print Scanner
2. Hp Simple Pass  Hope i can tell you one thing that  only one of these options/ software works  2. First i would like to Start from Hp Simple Pass  a. You should not activate the windows Hello
 b. Install HP simple Pass for Windows 10 from here ( for me out of many only this worked ) Click here c. Install and follow the HPSimplePass Instructions and reboot hope everything works fine ( tested and working ) If you activate the Windows Hello Fingerprint, then Simple pass dont open  1. Windows Hello FingerPrint Lock ( i Preffer this because this worked more perfect than simple pass ) a. click win then type "fingerprint" and click on settings as shown on screen shot below   b. When opened to setting First you need to set pin then only Windows Hello will be turned on ( for Fingerprint option to enable)  c. There click on add and Follow the Windows finger print Instructions
and finally you are done  In this case the Hp Simple Pass dont work/ open If you click on remove then Hp simple pass will work and you will get working   Good Luck guys Hope this will help you all

Hello,
This is a very good explanation, but does not work with the Home version because gpedit.msc does not exist in this version.
Thank you in advance for your assistance

  • Simple Pass not working with Windows 7 Premium

    I have a Pavillion Notebook, model dv6-6b51sa running Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit O/S
For some time now my Simple Pass has not worked. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the programme but to no avail. I have read several posts to the community here and have tried just about all recommendations including; hard reset, system restore (in case it had anything to do with Windows updates) a BIOS update and shutting down and rebooting after each process.
Now, having reinstalled Simple Pass (from the HP Support website) , biometric devices do not even feature in Device Manager!
Can anyone kindly offer me assistance?

    Hi @tagl
Welcome to HP Forums! I will be happy to help with the SimplePass problem you are experiencing. The fact you are missing a biometric device in your Device Manager would be a problem because for it to work you need the software and the accompanying biometric device. Here is the Validity Fingerprint Sensor Driver, install that and then see if you are able to use your fingerprint reader.

  • HP Simple Pass appears to have created its own Windows Log on Password

HP Pavillion M6 1035 Lap Top
    Windows 7 64-bit
Hi, I recently bough this computer and reluctantly (cause I knew it would cause a problem) agreed to let HP Simple Pass help me manage my passwords about a month into ownership.
When I originally set up my computer I did not create any passwords for the log on (no need for me to).  If prompted I just clicked enter.  As far as I remember, before I set up HP Simple Pass, I was not prompted to log on at start up or I just clicked enter and- it loaded straight to my desk top.  I certainly never had to type anything.
After using Simple Pass, I am prompted at log on for a password, or to swipe a finger. I've been using the finger swipe just fine but today decided it was a pain and I just want it back the way it was.  That is when I discovered that Windows thinks I have a Log on password.  I have tried any and all passwords I know, including all the ones I entered into Simple Pass. I have tried just hitting enter, "password", you name it and it won't let me on.  I can still gain access with the finger swipe but in the settings for the software it does not show any information about Windows Log On.  (You can for example view other account passwords, just nothing about Windows Log On).
I tried accessing it through my device manager and I found where I can disable this, but alas, I need the Windows logon password that Simple Pass [evidently] assigned.
Can someone please suggest what is going on?  I am sure this will lead to a problem in the future and I am so sick of trying to fix broken computers (hence why I bought a new one).
    Thank you in advance

I have only seen this a couple of times and I don't have the answer...
I do not know how you managed to set up SimplePass without a typed in Windows password.  OK, having said that:  if you have done it, then it's done.
I would suggest that you get yourself over to AuthenTec, sign up for their forum, and ask this question in the context of the SimplePass (maybe omitting the dislike of the product since it is, after all, their means of being in business).
Why do this?  Because I don't think it should have happened.  From the few entries I have seen on the AuthenTec forum, Miroslav Buran (at AuthenTec) is knowlegable in his field and may be able to help you straighten this out before it causes problems.
Be sure to explain that you are using HP SimplePass and let them know the exact version of the SmplePass Software to get the best help.  Tell them your Operating System / bit, too.
When SimplePass IS used in conjunction with a Windows password (as intended), it works very well as a rule.
I am sorry your introduction to the tool was rocky and your experience has been less than stellar.
I would be very interested in hearing how this is resolved.  If I find anything helpful, I will post back to you here.
    Kind Regards,
    Dragon-Fur

  • Simple pass not working windows 10

simple pass not working, does not recognise windows password at start to gain access to system, no flashing light, driversin software only go to windows 8.1.How do I reset the lot or reinstall simple pass?

I have an HP Elitebook 8760W.  I cannot get Simplepass or Windows Hello to recognize my Validity VFM-471 fingerprint reader.  I'm not sure I have the right driver installed for the Validity hardware.  Could someone please point me to a link for the proper Win 8.1 driver?   I'm trying to make this work on Windows Pro 64 Bit.   I have tried everything to make this work.  Both Simplepass and Window Hello recognize the fingerprint read while I'm setting it up, but when rebooting and trying to log in with the fingerprint function - it doesn't act like it is even working.  I've tried all of the suggestions on the instructions to no avail.  The Laptop works just fine without the fingerprint scanner, and I guess I can live without it, but I've been used to using it on Windows 7 for so long, I'd like to have it working agian.  Any suggestions or hellp would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks in advance.

I had been using HP Simple Pass with my HP ENVY dv 6 64-bit (Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3630QM CPU @ 2.40GHz). Do you want to try again" I have tried again and again but the result is same. I also downloaded "HP SimplePass_V6.0.100.276.msi" and tried to install it but its install never completes and is terminated asking for another file in the middle. Please let me know how I can get rid of this problem?

  • How can I completely uninstall Simple Pass Data file? where is data file kept?

Computer came with Simple Pass finger print reader.  Won't let me program Windows log on unless I enter Windows log on password.  I DO but it says "incorrect from what was originally password."
I don't know what that would be, (tried all old passwords)  so I want to ERASE ALL RETAINED DATA and reinstall.
ADD/REMOVE program removes program but data retained.  Then deleted Validity Sensor under Biometric devices so all data should be gone but upon reinstall it still says i have wrong password!
Where else is this data kept on computer and how can i remove so I can fix program?
Anyone familiar with Simplepass or recommend another fingerprint program that would work with HP Envy?
    Thanks in advance.

    Frank,
Updating the OS to Windows 8.1 does destroy the Recovery Manager -- side "benefit" that seems to go unmentioned by some of the enthusiasts of Upgrades.  On the other hand, unless the system comes with 8.1 there is little you can do -- Windows 8 is rather sad.    You have the choice of a weird hybrid "almost" Windows 8.1 or running Windows 8.  Eeeew.  I chose the upgrade on the one Windows 8 system I have -- same level of frustration but at least the problems are different than running sad Windows 8.  Smiling.
Because you know your system runs Windows 8.1 -- and there are apparently the Drivers at your system's HP Support pages for Windows 8.1 (very important), you might consider purchasing Windows 8.1 Pro and being done with the hybrid upgrade OS.  You still lose the Recovery Manager, of course, purchased 8.1 does not provide the HP Recovery Manager -- but at least the OS is stable.   You still install the HP drivers from the computer's Support site, of course.  I actually purchased 8.1 for my upgrade system and have only been too lazy to install it.  Sigh.
You can use third party Image software to back up the system.  Certainly not the only one, and maybe not even the best according to whom you ask -- one such tool:
Redo software is free and is NOT Windows dependent.
The software can be used with Both Windows and Linux Operating Systems.

are there any good (paid or free) alternatives????
    thanks

    Hey @envy15touchscre ,
    Welcome to the HP forums.
I understand you're unhappy with the new version of HP SimplePass.
You should be able to restore the original version of SimplePass by using the HP Recovery Manager: Using Recovery Manager to Restore Software and Drivers (Windows 8).
I have not personally tried any other security plugins for browsers to make a suggestion.

    Hello akshaysoam8,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand your fingerprint reader has stopped working after doing a system recovery.
A good place to start would be to check the options for Biometric Support in your Control Panel. You are looking for an option to "Allow users to log in to Windows with there fingerprints." If this is the option that is uncheckable in your post I would suggest going through the document below.
It would be best to go through each step in the order they are listed. Troubleshooting a Fingerprint Reader (Windows 8).
It would also help to know which ENVY product you have. There are two ENVY 1216tx products, the HP ENVY 6-1216tx Sleekbook or, the HP ENVY m6-1216tx Notebook PC.
Please let me know which of these you have to better assist you if the above steps do not resolve your issue, as well as any new information after completing the troubleshooting.

    Welcome to the HP Forums!
It is a terrific place to find answers.
For you to have the best experience in the HP forum I would like to direct your attention to the HP Forums Guide Learn How to Post and More
I see that your Simplepass was working until this morning when  it was not.  You have uninstalled and reinstalled software and updated the drivers but no change.
    Was there any updates installed?
Have you tried dong a restore back to when it was all working?  HP PCs - Using Microsoft System Restore (Windows 8)
Next I would do a Refresh Your PC to Resolve Problems (Windows 8).
If the issue still remains I suggest you do a recovery back to factory.  HP PCs - Performing an HP System Recovery (Windows 8) .  During the recovery process you will notice an option to backup your personal files to prevent data loss.  If you have not recently done one I suggest you do one now.
