Hp Simplepass Problem! *__

Well like the post says,
My Hp simplepass software wont open at all, even though i uninstalled, and re-installed a fresh copy from the Hp support website. Can anybody help..?
And i have a Hp DV6, 64-bit windows 7 Home edition with i5 processor.

Ok got half of it figured it.  There is a post on Authentech's website of someone else having this problem and the instructions there fixed 90% of the problem.  The simplepass app loades I can register fingerprints all that jazz.  What I can't seem to figure out is how to make it use the fingerprint to log into windows from boot like it used to.  (I'm thinking it need to start with the PC but there's no setting for that...I'll see what I can find and update if I figure it out.

  • Simple Pass not working with Windows 7 Premium

    I have a Pavillion Notebook, model dv6-6b51sa running Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit O/S
For some time now my Simple Pass has not worked. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the programme but to no avail. I have read several posts to the community here and have tried just about all recommendations including; hard reset, system restore (in case it had anything to do with Windows updates) a BIOS update and shutting down and rebooting after each process.
Now, having reinstalled Simple Pass (from the HP Support website) , biometric devices do not even feature in Device Manager!
Can anyone kindly offer me assistance?

    Hi @tagl
Welcome to HP Forums! I will be happy to help with the SimplePass problem you are experiencing. The fact you are missing a biometric device in your Device Manager would be a problem because for it to work you need the software and the accompanying biometric device. Here is the Validity Fingerprint Sensor Driver, install that and then see if you are able to use your fingerprint reader.

  • Problem with HP SimplePass Identity protection???

Hi, I just purchased "HP Pavilion dv6 3049tx" few days back, & now all of a sudden my finger print reader is not working..!?? It says, "unable to detect finger print reader" at start up... even though I've re-installed the driver & software of "digital persona ver5.00.140a", the problem persists..., even I've tried restoring to factory settings, but no use! ....one strange thing what i observed is that, the finger print reader driver is not visible under "Biometric/Human Interface menu" in the device manager even after installing the necessary drivers & softwares!!... please help me..???

Hi, this may be a hardware issue, but before you go to the trouble of having your unit repaired I would recommend trying a System Recovery.
You don't need discs, you can run it by either tapping the "f11" key while booting, or by choosing "Recovery Manager" from the start menu (just type recovery in the start search box)
From here you can choose to reinstall drivers or applications or to run a recovery back to factory settings.
You will need to back up any personal data you have as it will wipe it out.
If you run recovery and it works, it's not hardware, if you run it and it does not work, it most likely is hardware and you should have the unit repaired under warranty.
    Good luck

  • Simplepass Export/Import Problems

I would like to export my HP simplepass data into my new HP envy buy they have different extensions...WTH?  The export has  .tsd ext while the new laptop is requirig it to be .opi     Sooooo fustrating.  Please, any help appreciated.  The whole reason I got another HP was because of this.

Welcome to the HP Community Forum.
    Commentary
The explanation is simple; although it is unlikely to make you feel any better.
HP SimplePass Series 6 provides the .tsd Export of your Webcards.
HP SimplePass Series 8 provides the .opi Export of your Webcards.
The two programs have the same name -- they are not the same software.
A while back the Series 6 HP SimplePass program was discontinued after AuthenTec was purchased by Apple.  The program is still in use in what might be called "maintenance mode" -- you can still download and use the program and it still works on many notebooks.  The program is no longer supplied with new notebooks because there are no longer updates available for it and there is no longer support available for it; AuthenTec disappeared when Apple purchased the company.
HP has contracted with Softex to provide HP SimplePass, now on version / Series 8.01.11 (at writing).  The Export to .opi database is not compatible with the other company's data.  HP SimplePass Series 8 is now installed with new notebooks and provides the SimplePass program for notebooks with fingerprint scanners.
There is no cross-program conversion package.  That means, you cannot convert your .tsd into a .opi database.  No cares about this.  The two companies are (were) competitors and are (wer) not in the business to provide the means to allow users to cross back and forth.  No one ever gave out the code to HP or anyone else to allow the conversion.
SimplePass is a program like any other.  If you like, and depending on your notebook's hardware, you might be able to remove HP SimplePass Version 8.x and then install HP SimplePass Series 6 to use.  Assuming that works, you can then Import your .tsd file and life will be back to the way you like it.
The following Dragon Document provides the link to the latest Series 6 HP SimplePass software.  You can most likely use your Validlty Sensor Driver as this is the fingerprint scanner software and you need that as it is now.
The Dragon Document also provides a section on how to switch from one Series to the other Series so you can remove one version of HP SimplePass and install the other.  Remember:  you cannot have them both on the computer at the same time -- they don't like each other.
Open the file > Click on Download > Click “Open in Adobe Reader”
    Instructions to Update HP SimplePass
    See Section:
Switch HP SimplePass Series (6 to 8 or 8 to 6)
There is no guarantee that your notebook will run HP SimplePass Series 6 -- this is something you have to try to determine for yourself.
You might make the decision to stick with Series 8 HP SimplePass.
It is true that, at least for the moment, HP SimplePass Series 8 only works with Internet Explorer -- and that the interface is a bit different, and that the program is not quite as robust.
It is also true that HP SimplePass Series 8 is now the current version of the program and the version that is kept updated and supported in a more robust and complete fashion.

  • OPBHOBrokerDsktop.exe is causing serious performance problems on my new Windows 8.1 PC.

Browsing websites with Process Monitor running,  there are millions of instances of this executable running in the background.  It apparently causes websites being browsed to go into a "not resplonding" state.  I use Webroot for security, and the computer is new - purchased about 3 weeks ago - HP Slimline.
The .EXE is installed as part of HP's "Simple Pass" which was apparently installed on my system when I downloaded a driver for my HP Officejet Pro 8500 printer/copier/scanner/fax.
It's supposed to be an identity protection software.  Does this program actually work?  I want to uninstall it because the performance impact is just ridiculous.
Thanks for any advice or suggestions you can provide.

I'm having the same issue with my new HP Envy 8.1 . I had to send it in at least 2 times for factory repairs. OPBHOBrokerDsktop.exe  shows up as a warning in the reliabilty monitor now. Maybe that's what made my monitor and motherboard go out before.  It has always showed the "simple pass broker" or -"OPBHOBrokerDsktop.exe"-  as a warning . I thought it was that I just didn't scan my finger over the sensor right. When you hit the the link to find a solution about the warning. It says no solution found. Also it doesn't start automatic maintenance on schedule. Here just a few days ago in the start up screen it asked if  I would like to use a PIN number to log in instead of "SimplePass". But it didn't say why.  Now I'm beginning to understand why.  They won't admit there is a problem either. I had a remote session today because the automatic maintenance scanner ran for 11 hours and never completed. All they told me to do was to do a factory recovery back to factory defaults, and to save all my info. They must know by now that there is a problem . Why can't they find a fix instead of just resetting to factory defaults. This will make twice now I've had to reset my computer.  A $ 1000.00 computer that has so many problems "brand new !? I bought it new custom built in "China". But the "Recovery Manager is a black control panel, meaning it was manufactured before 2013. A white Recovery Manager page means it is 2014 or newer. I bought mine new custom built in June 2104, and it shows it was manufactured before 2013 . So I have a old windows 8 computer that was updated to 8.1 . They sold me as a NEW computer. That could be why I'm having so many problems with mine.

  • HP Simplepass not working with Windows 8.1

Hi everyone, I'm not sure if I'm in the right section, so please tell me if I'm not. First of all, here are my specs: System Model: HP ENVY TS 15 Notebook PCProcessor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4700MQ CPU @ 2.40GHz, 2401 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 8 Logical Processor(s)OS Name: Microsoft Windows 8.1Version: 6.3.9600 Build 9600 So, I bought this computer with Windows 8 and I originally had some problems with Simplepass but I got it to work. I actually only use it to login to my computer from the lock screen. Since I've updated to Windows 8.1, nothing is working anymore. I can't use the fingerprint reader to logon (but the biometric device is visible and working in Device Manager). So, I told myself that Simplepass probably reset it's database but here's what happens when I try to go in Simplepass. I can access Simplepass by using my Windows password (Master password). I now have access to the "Manage my websites" part of Simplepass. When I click on "Set up Windows Log On", it again asks me to put my Windows password. I then put my password in, but it says "The Windows logon password you entered does not match. Please try again." and I have the right password... I've tried repairing Simplepass, reinstalling it via HP Recovery Manager and nothing has worked so far. I know that upgrading from Windows 8 to Windows 8.1 made me use a Microsoft account instead of a local account...maybe that messed up Simplepass? I don't really care what I use, I just want to be able to use my fingerprint reader. On top of that, the new option with Windows 8.1 that lets us sign in using a fingerprint dosen't even respond when I click on it... Anyway, any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks for your time! Jerome

Jerome, There are a number of things going on - at least as far as I can tell:Some computers have a compatible fingerprint sensor that can be run with the Native Windows 8.1 fingerprint logon mechanics.   For those machines, the built in fingerprint driver installed by the latest Windows Updates, seems to be enough. For those machines in a particular list of compatible sensor types, there is a download available that addresses Windows 7, 8, 8.1 fingerprint logon, that is, fingerprint logon for Windows but without any support for website login.  The keywords are "compatible sensor type" - the download only addresses certain computers that have a particular sensor hardware built in.  Usually this is not an issue for folks as most of us want more than "just windows" logon. For everyone else - one must depend on a third-party driver, like the Validity drivers that are normally supplied by HP.  The problem is that HP has not yet released all the drivers for the "everyone else" group for Windows 8.1 OS. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------I do see that you found a driver for the Eagle Sensor for Windows 8.1 and dated 30-Oct-2013 >> good news! sp63418 Validity Eagle Sensor V 4.5.228.0 Win8.1 64bit [Operating Systems]W8.164=OEM[Devices]USB\VID_138A&PID_0050="Validity Eagle Sensor(WBF) (PID=0050)"----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Remember, this is guesswork on my part.  I have deepened my search and have yet to find another way to do this - I still think we do need the updated compatible driver for your computer. If you would like to try once again to force the Validity Sensor driver to work, you might try the following: Close all extra programs (email, Facebook, games, etc.) Remove the current Driver and DeleteWindows key + X > M (Opens Device Manager) > BIOMETRICS > Right-Click on your validity sensor driver >Properties > Uninstall > in the prompt to remove the current driver >> tick the box to allow the removal >Proceed with the uninstall process When the uninstall is complete, shut down the system to prevent the kernel from hibernating:                                                  Complete ShutdownWindows key > type anywhere on the Start Screen: command prompt >RIGHT-CLICK on the Command Prompt box that shows up on the left side of the screen >From the bottom ribbon, select "Run as Administrator"  > Opens the command line >If the User Account Control asks, click "Yes" to allow the command to proceed >In the Command Prompt window, type the following command: Shutdown /s /t 0             Reference: Shutdown Syntax

  • SimplePass

SimplePass makes me want to smash this computer into little pieces ... it pops up every 2 freakin seconds when I type and the computer was purchased to replace my last work computer which was also an HP ... I am so unimpressed with this one ...... I have no desire to store all my passwords or my fingerprint on my computer. The only posts on here about SimplePass are from 2013 and back ... it is now 2015 ... I need to know how I can remove simplePass from my computer without screwing up everything else it may be attached to. If I can't remove it then how can I make it so it stops popping up .... there NO optons to disable it (well, to the naked eye) ... I am extrememly electronically challenged so anything that someone tells me needs to be dummied down for me .... and yes, my company does have an IT department but last time I let them have free range of remotely fixing my computer they screwed up what was already on my computer, didn't fix what the problem was and then had the nerve to tell me my best recourse would be to delete everything and then re-install everything .....
Thank you for any help ......
    kim

    Hi Kim,
The HP SimplePass Identity Protection Software is a fingerprint management/security application.
You can disable Validity Sensor in device manager or uninstall HP SimplePass Software and reinstall when you want to....
If it still asks for a password to logon follow the steps below.
    1. Start Run.
    2. Type netplwiz
    3.  Users Tab
    4. Uncheck users must enter a user name and password to use this computer
    5. Click Apply, Ok
Once you do this, try whether again simple pass asks you to swipe or not.
Let me know once you are done with this.
    Hope this works.

  • How do I enable SimplePass now that Google has blocked Chrome Extensions

Recently, Chrome was updated to block all extensions that weren't purchased from their webstore. My PC (a Pavilion dv6) came with HP SimplePass installed. I use it for all my online password management, but now it is blocked by Chrome (my preferred browser).
There is, apparently, a SimplePass extension available on the Chrome WebStore site, but it says it will only work with SimplePass version 8. I have version6. The current owner of SimplePass -- Softexinc.com -- doesn't indicate anything about getting software updates.
The SimplePass/ingerprint reader combination was part of the reason I bought this particular PC in the first place. I'll be very disappointed if I can never use it again. Please help me to re-enable this feature.
    Edited to add:
OK, it gets worse. I found a download for SimplePass version 8. But there is no upgrade path! The import/export features of the two different versions are incompatible, so there's no way to migrate all my login/password data from the old to the new version. Please, HP, address any of these problems:
       - create a SimplePass upgrade to convert data from older formats
       - develop a Chrome extension that works with SimplePass v6 AND meets Google's requirements to allow it to run
       - enhance SimplePass 8 to be compatible with existing (older) versions of SimplePass
    This question was solved.

    Hello everyone,
Thank you for posting on the HP Forums!
I am going to address the Chrome and Fingerprint-reading extension issue. I have already solved the exact issue for one user using the steps in this thread: Chrome Policy - disabled Simplepass extension
Other suggestions include using SimplePass on Internet Explorer and FireFox. Although, if you want to try to get Chrome working again, you can try the steps I suggested.
Here are of the steps from the thread:
    1. Uninstall your current version of HP SimplePass and install this one (even if it's the same)   : HP SimplePass Identity Protection Software Version 6.0.100.276
    2. If that doesn't help:    (This one is more of a workaround than anything)
    a) Go to Settings in Chrome. Look for the "Extensions" menu, and click on "Get more extensions".
    b) In the Chrome Web Store, search for "SimplePass" and it should appear under Extensions. Click on "+ Free" to install it, then try using it.
    3. You can try to reset Chrome to default settings: Reset browser settings
    4. System Restore, just because time travel is sometimes useful: System Restore
    5. Try the steps in an Incognito window (yes, I just suggested that). Incognito mode disables all extensions by default (at least it's supposed to). You can re-enable all extensions, including Website login ones.
    6. Download and install an older version of Chrome, then try to get SimplePass and website login extensions working: Old Version of Google Chrome
If none of this helps, then I'm going to suggest some complex steps. This requires working in Developer Mode.
    1. Go into Developer Mode through the Extensions menu.
    2. Note the extension ID (For example, jilhkcaiaaepfiajaebpkmhonmfgabhf)
    3. Go to C://Users/-name of user account-/AppData/Local/Google/Chrome/User/Data/Default/Extensions/-extension ID-/1.8 (or another number is you have a different number)
    4. Copy that file path.
    5. Go back to the Extension Menu of Chrome, and click on "Load unpacked extension...". Paste or search the above file path and hit Enter.
    6. The extension should now be re-created and enabled (or able to be enable). You may need to restart the computer.
These steps should be enough to resolve the issue, according to what experimentation I've done. For the sake of this issue, please let me know what happens after trying each step.
I will continue to monitor this thread, while playing around with Chrome and SimplePass to possibly discover more solutions. Please let me know your results. Thanks!

  • HP SimplePass not working at Windows Log in.

I am using HP Pavilion dv6 6121 TX Notebook PC.
Operating system installed is Windows 7 64-bit.
The error message which I get at windows log in when I swipe my finger is "Your fingerprints have not been enrolled for authentication."
The problem is that HP SimplePass is not working only at the windows log in but after logging in with the password it works for opening websites. I tried updating the software for it, but it still doesn't work.
I even tried reinstalling SimplePass and restoring windows but still it won't fix the problem.
Please help me out by suggesting some remedy to get rid of the annoying message which I get at the log in point.
    Thanks.

    shwetashwimmi,
    Welcome to the forum.
When you say you updated the software, did you update SimplePass from an earlier version of SimplePass?
What version of SimplePass are you running now?
What version of the Validity Sensor Driver are you running?
Software and Driver must match in the sense that the drivers and software must be compatible...
The following works assuming you are NOT running:
Probooks Protect Tools software - Probooks are Business model Notebooks - PT is NOT the same code
Digital Persona older software; DP is sometimes called SimplePass - DP is NOT the same code
The Fingerprinter driver controls the fingerprint hardware:
    SimplePass 5.3.17 and Above
    are compatible with
Validity Sensor Driver V4.3.205.0 and Above
Once you have verified that you have compatible versions, you can consider the following:
Reinstall the Driver by uninstalling it, rebooting and letting the system resinstall it.  Do NOT delete your onboard driver, just uninstall it.
You may install the Driver from your notebook's webpage, if needed
Update to the latest SimplePass Software
Hard Reset the notebook - you may not need to do this; it is a "Rats, something is wrong" step to clear out the "bugs"
Consider that if you are running Avast Anti-Virui Security, it must start Later, that is, AFTER the fingerprint driver, in the Windows Boot/Startup.  If you are having problems, Set Avast to start later in the boot / start sequence.
    =========================================================================
    Install Driver...
Go to the top of this Forum page - to Support and Drivers
    Enter your notebook model number
Open the HP web page for your Product / Model
Go to the Software and Drivers Downloads page
    Enter your Operating System
Scroll down - Go to category Driver – Keyboard, Mouse and Input Devices
Select “Validity Fingerprint Sensor Driver” (Newest Version)
Save this installation package onto your computer.  Make a note of the file's NAME and its location.
Install the Validity Sensor Driver installation package:  It will be named sp*.exe – the package will most likely be located in the Downloads folder.  If you have ‘Admin’ control, you may highlight the package and “double-click” to install it, else Right-Click, Select ‘run as Administrator’ and install.
When installing SimplePass and its components:
Driver always installs / reinstalls FIRST
Software, if installing, is always SECOND
    =========================================================================
    Hard Driver Reset:
This method works for a variety of connection and ‘stuck’ program issues.
    Disconnect all external devices first.
Remove AC power and the battery
Press and hold power button for at least 30 seconds
Reinstall only AC power for first startup ** See Note
    Power on - Log in
Next time you shut down the system, reinstall battery.
** Note:  If time is short, reinstall battery the first time and be done with it.

The latest versions of SimplePass from AuthenTec and from HP are essentially the same code.  The HP version is slightly more up-to-date at writing and may have advantages for some users depending on hardware or other factors.
You can try either version and decide for yourself.

    Hi,
Try using Recovery Manager to reinstall your original SimplePass software - the procedure for using recovery manager to reinstall Software and Drivers is detailed in the relevant document on the link below.
    Recovery Manager - Windows 7
    Recovery Manager - Windows Vista
After the reinstallation has completed, restart the notebook.

  • I received the following error when attempting to use HP SimplePass Identity Protection to manage my passwords; Firefox doesn't know how to open this address, because the protocol (dpql) isn't associated with any program. How can I correct this?

I use HP SimplePass Identity Protection to control my passwords. Everything was fine until I updated to Firefox 4. Can I remove version 4 or is there a solution to my problem. I received the following error message; Firefox doesn't know how to open this address, because the protocol (dpql) isn't associated with any program.

You'll have to downgrade to the previous secure version I regret to say. See https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/799388
Go to [http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html Download Firefox v3.6.17] and download it to the desktop.<br><br>
Then go to Add/Remove Programs, scroll down to "Mozilla Firefox" and remove it, choosing to keep your bookmarks, customizations etc., (don't checkmark the box).<br><br>
Then reboot and delete the folder called "Mozilla Firefox" at this location: C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox<br><br>
Finally run the installation file you downloaded to the desktop earlier.<br><br>
Your bookmarks, customizations etc., are maintained in a different location and will become available to you again once you complete the installation.<br><br>
After you complete the installation, go to the [http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/plugincheck/ Plugins Check] page and update those where necessary.
