HP Slate 500 - Issue with Touchscreen
Hello,
I recently inherited an HP Slate 500 tablet pc, and am having some difficulty with the touchscreen... The PC boots up just fine, and has no issues with responding all the way through the start-up process. The touchscreen becomes unresponsive as soon as I log onto the windows profile and will only work when I am logged out.. Any ideas as to what the problem may be and how it can be fixed?? Thanks

Constant issues with touchscreen
I have had constant issues with my touchscreen starting the second month I got my phone. I am on my 3rd phone and still having problems. The touchscreen keyboard enters different letters than what I am pressing, the search button in the market doesnt do anything, applications wont launch, the back button sometimes scrolls, etc. I performed multiple "reset to factory" actions with no fix. After tons of calls to Verizon, I can't get them to do anything about it. All they will do is keep sending me this same model phone which is obviously not the solution. Has anyone else had experiences like this and if so how did you get this resolved? Im thinking of filing a complaint with the BBB. Don't know what else to do. Help.
If you are still having problems, please reply to the private message that I am sending you. I will call you to provide troubleshooting assistance.

Iphone 5 touchscreen issue with iOS 7 update
I downloaded the upgrade the day it came out and there were no issues for the first few days. Then about a week later my touchscreen started wigging out. I would not even touch the screen and letters no where near where my finger was would start being typed into the box. I could not select anything on the screen cause it would scroll and select other things, and I was having issues with closing out the apps.
I am averaging 3-5 hard reboots a day and the soft reboots don't seem to have any effect on it.
When I do the hard reboots, it will work for just a few min and then do the same as before.
I restored the phone back to factory settings and redownloaded the phone and I didnt think that I was going to get the password in for the apple ID cause it was doing the same as before. No dropping or wetting of the phone has occurred. I was also able to update to the 7.0.2 and this did nothing.
Anyone have any suggestions or having the same problems?I have these issues, on both my iphone 5 and ipad using ios7.0.2 (and all apps have been updated also. I am actually amazed that this forum is not full of complaints about this, such are the number of issues and regularity of their occurrence! I have spoken to friends who also experience freezing, crashing and an erratic touchscreen since updating to ios 7.
The issues (on both iphone 5 and ipad) can be summarised as follows: 1- touchscreen behaves erratically, keyboard use and scrolling in pages no longer as easy as before. 2- apps crash, regularly, particularly mail and calendar. I have linked both mail and calendar to office 365 and wonder if this is anything to do with it? Have to close and restart the app in order to resolve. 3- the whole os crashes & freezes requiring a hard reboot.
I wish I could reinstall the previous os! -
Touchscreen issues with 6 Plus, seems to be disabled in landscape view
I have an intermittent problem on the 6 Plus with 8.0.2: the touchProscreen seems to be disabled in landscape orientation (but not portrait). Anyone else?
Hi MookieFL,
If you are having an issue with your iPhone touchscreen being unresponsive when the iPhone is in Landscape mode, I would suggest that you troubleshoot using the steps in this article -

Performance issues with Planning data load & Agg in 11.1.2.3.500
We recently upgraded from 11.1.1.3 to 11.1.2.3. Post upgrade we face performance issues with one of our Planning job (eg: Job E). It takes 3x the time to complete in our new environment (11.1.2.3) when compared to the old one (11.1.1.3). This job loads then actual data and does the aggregation. The pattern which we noticed is , if we run a restructure on the application and execute this job immediately it gets completed as the same time as 11.1.1.3. However, in current production (11.1.1.3) the job runs in the following sequence Job A->Job B-> Job C->Job D->Job E and it completes on time, but if we do the same test in 11.1.2.3 in the above sequence it take 3x the time . We dont have a window to restructure the application to before running Job E every time in Prod. Specs of the new Env is much higher than the old one.
We have Essbase clustering (MS active/passive) in the new environment and the files are stored in the SAN drive. Could this be because of this? has any one faced performance issues in the clustered environment?Do you have exactly same Essbase config settings and calculations performing AGG ? . Remember something very small like UPDATECALC ON/OFF can make a BIG difference in timing..

Slate 500 Windows install problem
I format my HP Slate 500 64 GB SSD. Now i select Disk 0 Partition 2 ( 59.2 GB free space. Primary) but is not start and this message in the screen " setup was unable to create a new system partition or locate an existing system partition. See the setup log files for more information" How can i install windows 7 on my slate 500 tablet ? Please help me.
Thank you for your support.Did you ever find an answer to your issue? I ordered an HP slate 500 dirt cheap, and will be playing around with this device if you still need help, but unsure if I will run into this problem. I will be attemtping to install Windows 7 Enterprise and Ulitmate editions to the tablet to see if they will work with HP drivers. Basicly want more security, and test manageability from Server 2008.
My guess is that you need to do a clean, custom install of Windows 7. This will require deleting and formatting the HD for all Partitions and installing the HD driver. Have you already created other partitions because I find it odd that your using Partition 2 default, unless your dual booting the device. Especially after formatting the HD, it should really have no information, and I advice against Dual booting with a 64GB HD. Windows 7 really needs 40GB alone for the OS. I suggest Ubuntu loaded from USB to wipe the HD and then W7 USB boot to format and install OS.
I also heard that HP added some type of password feature on the HD so installing a new HD is more of a hassle, and could be related to this, but I know nothing on this yet, but what I read. Still reading up on the Slate, but when I get it in my hands next week I can actually work directly with you on the issue. Also if it works like I want I can create you a VDI to load on a USB which will install my custom setting W7OS.
Also found this Advanced HD Format Info Utility.

My hp slate 500 tablet turns off if it is remove from it's docking station. This occurred only after I reinstalled the windows 7 operating system and drivers from the recovery disks that came with the unit when I purchased it. I had previously installed the windows 8 preview on the system but I did not like the performance so I loaded the recovery disks. When it was running windows 8, I could remove the slate from the docking stationing and it stayed on with no problem so I do not believe that it is a battery problem. It is only after I switched it back to windows 7 using the supplied recovery disks. The slate works fine as long as it is docked but turns off immediately when it is picked up from the docking station. Am i missing a driver? Any suggestions will be appreciated.
When I was experminenting with this, I had some success by installing the Slate 500 drivers from HP.com.
To get your multi-touch gestures working, you'll need the touchscreen driver which can be found at the above link. Keep in mind that it is a Preview edition of Windows, so many things will not work as well as they do in Windows 7.

Slate 500 loses power when undocked
I have a Slate 500 that loses power whenever it is removed from it's docking station. This began occuring after I used to HP supplied recovery disks to restore the tablet to it's original WIndows 7 Pro setting. I had installed WIndows 8 on the tablet but did not like the response time...however I was able to use it away from the docking station with a problem when WIndows 8 was installed. The problem started when I reverted back to WIndows 7. Am I missing a driver that activates the battery? I need help in resolving this. Thanks.
Hello Ahernandpr,
Your Slate 500 is a Business model. Your issue would be best answered on the HP Enterprise Business Community Forums

In the template I group the data based on CLASSIFICATION and then sort on the same column CLASSIFICATION. I have a page-break applied for every group.
When I generate the PDF, I am not getting the page-breaks for every group. Instead some of them are displayed in the same page.
But when I remove the sorting that I had in the template on the column CLASSIFICATION, I am getting the output in the desired way but not in a sorted order.
kumarHi All,
I am using MS-WORD 2007 and BI Publisher desktop 10.1.3.3.3.
When I use split-by-page-break, splitting is performed for every line .. but not for group of lines.
Can anybody throw some light on this?
FYI...
I am using this code:
?if: position() mod 6= 0?
?split-by-page-break:?
?end if?
(Of course with in tags)
in G_LINES loop.
Can anybody help me out :-(

Issues with using 3 monitors on 2 external gpu
Hi,
I have some issues with configuring Xorg to use 3 monitors. I have 2 external graphic cards (same model, no SLI). Monitors connected to the first gpu are recognized ok but I can't configure my 3rd monitor conencted to the second gpu via HDMI nor DVI.
1st is recognized as DVI-I-1, 2nd is DP-1 in first card, 3rd monitor is in second card (bus 22:00.0) as DP-1-2 (also tried connecting as DVI-I-2). I can see them in Xorg log but I can't configure my 3rd monitor via kscreen nor xrandr. :-/

Thanks for any help!I have a similar issue except with two ATI cards and four monitors.
I have a working xorg.conf that uses Xinerama and all 4 work but have been trying to get xrandr to work since xinerama is deprecated supposedly.
I would like to switch to xrandr but there is some kind of magic voodoo I have with my current xorg.conf that doesn't even work on an exact same machine and cards that I tried to setup for a co-worker.

My Xorg.0.log shows all the DVI connections when I don't use a xorg.conf file but only two are "connected"
I see DVI-0 and DVI-1 connected and in "xrandr -q" but in Xorg.0.log I see DVI-1-2 and DVI-1-3.
xrandr --listproviders show the two cards as well.
Tried "xrandr --setprovideroutputsource 1 0" and they show up in KDE but as clones and then X crashes eventually.
"xrandr --setprovideroutputsource 0 1" just plain crashes X -
Windows 7 Pro DNS issue with static IP

I have been unable to solve a DNS problem I am having as follows:
I have a Windows 7 Professional (64 bit) computer running VirtualBox with a couple of Windows XP guests (not sure if this bit is relevant). After heavy file copying/transfer on both of the Windows XP machines, both the guest machines AND the host loose anything
DNS related, so I cannot call anything by name, but by direct IP works fine. The only resolution is to reboot the (host) machine and it will then work OK for a while until it happens again. The only trigger to make it seem to happen quicker is to re-initiate
the heavy file transfer and this then causes the DNS resolution to stop working again.
The machine has a fixed IP address, so it isn't related to DHCP.
I've tried the machine connected wired and wireless, no difference.
The IP settings are manual and I have tried giving it the DNS settings of the router (normal settings) and I have also tried giving it Google's DNS servers (8.8.8.8 & 8.8.4.4). No difference.
It seems to happen (sooner) during heavy traffic.
Other Windows 7 machines in the network work fine (though they are Home version, not Pro).
ONLY DNS fails, direct IP works OK.
Reboot seems only solution at the moment.
I am now lost as to what to try to resolve this issue, I do not really want to reload Windows 7 as it is a relatively new install... I have read about issues with wired connections on my router (BT Home Hub 2.0) so tried a wireless connection, still the
same.
Here is my ipconfig /all (it shows the BT Home Hub router DNS settings, but it also failed with Google's 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 entered here and also with the routers 192.168.1.254 (default).

Any ideas where to look, or what other info to provide for any assistance?
Many thanks in advance.Hi,
This has just happened again, here is the content of the netstat results as requested...
If I kill the VirtualBox virtual machines, it starts working again. It is as if there are no ports left, but I am not occupying that many? Surely Windows 7 can cope with this?
I feel I am missing something important, but cannot put my finger on it...
Further below, I have re-run the netstat command AFTER I have closed the VirtualBox machines and the system works OK.

Issue with instant ringback when using sip trunk to SP
Hi all,
We use CUCM 8.0.2.
We have a SIP trunk to a SP connected via one of our Cisco 2911 routers configured as a CUBE.
Cisco IOS Software, C2900 Software (C2900-UNIVERSALK9-M), Version 15.0(1)M3, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc2)
c2900-universalk9-mz.SPA.150-1.M3.bin

We also have several ISDN lines that run out via various Cisco routers configured as H323 gateways.
We use 7945 and CIPC for our phones.
We're having an issue with calls going via the SIP trunk where we hear ringing instantly after dialling - but before the actual device at the other end starts ringing (considerable difference).
Using the SIP trunk: If I make a call to my mobile phone - I hear ringing instantly - about 3 rings before my mobile phone actually starts ringing - undesireable.
Using H323 gateway: If I make a call to my mobile phone - I hear silence for a bit - then ringing when the mobile starts ringing - desired.
Using SIP trunk: If I make a call to a landline that is ready - it rings instantly for at least 1 ring - before the actual phone I'm calling starts ringing - undesireable.
Using H323 gateway: There is a momentary pause before hearing ringing on my phone and the phone I dialled - desired.
Using SIP trunk: If I make a call to a landline that is off-hook (with no call-waiting/etc.) - it rings once and then returns the busy signal (the worst issue) - undesireable.
Using H323 gateway: There is a momentary pause before hearing busy signal - desired.
Phone to phone internally (same network): Operates as expected (instantly rings locally and on the phone I'm calling). Between phones that utilise the SIP trunk and phones that utilise the H323 gateways within the same network - communication is instant and as expected.
Any ideas why this happens and how to stop it?
I want it to not ring until the situation is known and that it can provide the appropriate feedback (ringing/busy/etc.).
Some possibly relevant config (note that there is a known bug with this IOS that meant I had to declare the codec in each dial-peer as the voice class would not work):

Any help or a point in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
BrettI ended up resolving this issue as follows:
In CUCM, under Device > Device Settings > SIP Profile.
I modifed the profile relevant to my SIP trunk, under the "Trunk Specific Configuration", I set "SIP Rel1XX Options" from "Disabled" to "Send PRACK if 1xx Contains SDP".
Now, I get the expected delay before hearing ringback.

Issue with MacBook Air and nouveau
Hi.
I've installed Arch Linux on MacBook Air with Nvidia 320M videocard. Proprietary nvidia driver does not work at all and nouveau has video artefacts (photo attached because screenshot pictures haven't any problems): horizontal noisy black lines and wrong colors on the left two thirds of screen.

nvidiafb works fine, but it has no dri and has problems with suspend.
How to resolve this problem with nouveau? Is it crtc-related or not? Playing with xrandr does not have any effect (except resolution change).
Last edited by nikicat (2012-02-22 15:00:18)I had an issue with my MBA seeing my HP printer and could find no good reason for the issue. In the end I deleted the printers WiFi connection and then turned around and set it up on my WiFi network all over again. My MBA now finds the printer every time. Okay ...so I don't actually know why it didn't work the first time, but it does now. Again, there was no apparent issue with either the HP printer or the MBA being connected to WiFi in the first place, but something different must have occurred in software/hardware the second time.

I have a table with a date field that I need to query by day and month only. Basically, if I search for "04/15", the query would return records whose date includes: 04/15/2006, 04/15/2007, 04/15/2008, etc. How can I do that on SQL Server? Thx!
