  • HP slate 6 update 4.4 Kitkat

    Hello,
    I have a HP slate 6 voicetab and today I got a notification for a new update voor Android.
    I let the phone update, but now I can't use my phone anymore.
    It shows a screen with the 'HP' logo and coloured lines going around it.
    Sometimes the phone shows the beginning screen where I have to enter my pincode, but it goes back to the other screen before I even had the time to enter my pincode.
    It also won't shut down. When I try to shut it down, it startes right back up to the 'HP' logo screen.
    I already took the battery out and took my SIM-cards out, but nothing works.
    I can't use my phone now and I don't know what to do to make it work again.
    Is there anyone who knows what I can do??

    I faced the same issue. But by trial and errors, I could install it but my data is lost. First switch off the phone. then press power on button and volume up arrow button together for about 30 seconds. a screen is opened. Scroll down by using volume buttons and select option wipe data factory reset. It will then wipe off the data . Once data is wiped off, then select option reboot system now. Your kitkat version will be installed successfully. But your data is lost.

    Hey , Welcome to the HP forums. Most tablets had their recovery images removed for maintenance. Not all tablets have had their update.zip files restored to the driver download page yet. Please be patient and it should be available soon. , The recovery images are available for your tablet here: HP Slate 7 6102ra VoiceTab - Recovery downloads. You can see how to run a recovery below. Please try the following. 1. Download the update.zip for your device and copy the file to the root directory of an empty micro-SD card (at least 1 GB, FAT 32 format). Do not unzip this file. You can find the update.zip for your device in the link above. NOTE: You will need the exact model number to locate the correct package. There are multiple update.zip recovery images available. Ensure you select the correct download for your region. If your tablet does not boot after attempting to update you may need to try both the KitKat and JellyBean images. 
    2. Fully charge the tablet and then disconnect the power from the device.
    3. Power off the device.
    If your tablets micro-SD slot is on the side or bottom of your tablet skip to step 5.  4a. Place the tablet on a flat surface, display panel side down, with the release notch towards you.
    NOTE: Before positioning the tablet with the display panel facing down, make sure the work surface is clear of any foreign objects. Failure to follow this caution can result in damage to the display panel assembly.
    4b. Remove the back cover. Use the release notch to remove the back cover.
    4c. Insert the micro-SD memory card into the reader slot.
    4d. Reverse the procedure detailed above to install the back cover and continue to step 6. 5. Insert the micro-SD card into the micro-SD card reader.
    6. Press and hold the volume up button and power button at the same time.
    7. When the HP logo appears on the screen, release all the buttons.
    8. When the Android system recovery menu appears, use the volume down button to highlight "apply update from external storage".
    9. Press the power button to validate "apply update from external storage".
    10. Use the volume down button to highlight the software recovery file, update.zip.
    11. Press the power button to select the update.zip file and launch the recovery.
    NOTE: Wait until the entire recovery process finishes. The device might seem unresponsive at times (multiple reboots and black screens) when it is performing the update. If this does not resolve the issue please call our technical support at 800-474-6836. If you live outside the US/Canada Region, please click the following link to get the support number for your region: Phone Assist Worldwide.

    ISSUE: 
    A previously applied HP Slate 21 Kit Kat Update (Android 4.4.2) over the air (OTA) update may have caused issues with audio quality or wireless LAN connectivity.
    Audio Quality: Bass response will be poor. Audio will play but bass frequencies will be lacking.
    WiFi Issue: 5 GHz band not functioning properly
    Status: 
    A new update (17r25.1-011-11-WW) has been released over the air (OTA) to end users
    Resolution:
    Apply update 17r25.1-011-11-WW
    If the user was previously on 17r25.1-010-10-WW then a Factory Reset should be performed to complete the resolution.

  • Failed update of HP Slate 6 6000en

    I read most probably all therads about failed HP Slate 6 updates but nothing worked. I received update two weeks ago and after the restart it goes to system recovey. If i try to restore with factory image it gives me an error: assert failed: file_getprop("/vendor/carrier.prop","ro.product.name")="madona"E:Error in /tmp/sideload/package.zip(Status 7)Installation aborted. This is for European region with the latest update from July 31. If I download the restore image for Latin America it changes "madona" to "butterfly". Given the fact that before that is vendor/carrier line, I think it is due to uncorrect region. The other 2 regions (India and South East Asia) says that the restore image is older that the one installed on my system. Hard reset is not working. I did it almost 100 times so far. My device is HP Slate 6 6000en (P/N: G2E64EA#ABB) Which is wrong - the region or I have to wait HP to release newer restore image sometime in the future, when they have time?

  • "System Default" kind of wipe: possible? How would one do this?

    Would it be possible to take an existing installation and effectively reinstall all packages, restore all configuration files to their default config as if on a new install on that program, and wipe all user data (probably not in that order) so as to restore a system to a kind of "first boot" setting but with your current package listing retained.
    How would one go about this? Could one slip into a terminal, sudo rm -r /some/folders/here (what folders necessary?) and then use pacman to reinstall ... everything (what kind of command would get you that? something with a grep listing?)

    Depends on what changed in Arch in the meantime, what changes you made and what do you mean by 'most of the job'.
    Let's say you've made your backup a couple months ago and now you want to move from grub-legacy to syslinux, install KDE and try systemd. If you revert to said backup in a month, you will have to do a few important changes "manually" because at the time of that backup you were using grub, initscripts and e.g. Gnome.
    Reverting to the "clean slate" backup, updating it and making a fresh backup once you've tested the new configuration shouldn't be much of a problem but it's not automatic. You may need to perform some manual conflict resolution etc. (see the home page).
    This is exactly why I wanted to strip the system clean and let the programs act as if this were a new install, without changing my partition table, have to download 12 gigs of data, etc. Reinstall the system without a format. Some of these changes that needed manual adjustment have caused a bit of a headache, it would be nice to have a nuclear option without having to reinstall. Especially now that AIF isn't around anymore I'd have to have a second computer to tell me what commands to run just to get things going again...

    So, I have been following this document http://support.hp.com/vn-en/document/c04342242 but i cant find the link to download the update.zip can anyone provide me with the link to download the recovery image?

    The updates are ongoing, but I have run into several problems accessing HP restore files using either Android or ChromeBooks. Just tried to locate them now with a PC, and I'm getting an error.  I'll report it, and hopefully it will return soon. WyreNut UPDATE:  After reporting the issue to my internal HP contacts, I have been informed they are aware of the missing restore files and are "working on it".  No ETA as of yet.

    Downgrading is not supported at all.
    What troubleshooting steps have you taken so far?  Have you deleted the pairing on both devices?  I'm having no issue with my Beats devices (Pill, BT headphones) with my iDevices running iOS 8.

  • HP slate 21 - no SkyGo in full screen after 4.4.2 update

    Hi there,
    I updated my HP slate 21 (non pro) to Android 4.4.2 this morning but it has unfortunately resulted in SkyGo not displaying correctly - only the centre 3rd of the screen is displayed (the rest being 'chopped off'). I've tried disabling the new HP split screen app, but this doesn't make any difference. Anybody else having similar problems? Is this one for Sky or HP to take a look at?

    Hi there, definately a Sky problem, spent an hour on phone to HP today with exactly the same problem, however, when i told them that the Dual view doesn't seem to be an app as it seems to be embedded and a beta, they are not aware of this being released and will be getting back to me.  In regards to Sky go, send them an email explaining the situation (address at the bottom of the Sky Go app page on google play then copy and paste into your email provider), the more that send the quicker it will be acted upon.  Hope this helps.

  • HP Slate 21 Pro Kitkat 4.4.2 update issues

    Nice they've finally updated us to Kitkat now everyone else is being updated to Lollipop.
    Bugs now introduced with KK
    1. Physical keyboard numlock. In JB it remembered I always had it on. Now it always boots up off. Change it to remember or give a settings option to start it 'on'
    2. Location - I switch it off, some app/system app keeps switching it on. Never did this under JB. Fix it
    3. Removing apps via 'system/app' - once the toast appears saying it's uninstalled an app, the app stays in the list and the list doesn't respond to clicks. You have to click on 'system/users' for example and then back into 'system/app' to remove the next app. Please fix this glaring BUG.

  • HP Slate 7 Voice Tab overheat after kitkat update

    Hi,
    I was using my Slate 7 voide tab for last around 8 months without any major issue. Minor issues like touch becomes very sluggish after switching on 3G was normal.
    Yesterday kitkat update got installed on my tab and than nightmare starts. First "clean master" app is showing alert periodically that CPU is overheating (80 degree celsius). Today tab got hanged while some important call was coming. I was able to see people calling but touch was not responding. Tried to hard boot, but again some process error came on screen and whole tab was in hanged state for an hour. I can only see people calling and calling.
    When battery got drained, I restarted it but CPU temperature is always above 80 degree celsius and I believe its obviously much above normal. I never got these problems with Jelly Beans.
    Its really very frustrating to know why HP released an update which is full of bugs!!!

    I understand you're experiencing issues with heat after updating to KitKat on your Slate 7 VoiceTab.
    Before troubleshooting any heat issue, remove the tablet from the case if you are using one. Test the tablet without the case and see if the issue persists.
    You can also try apps like Android Task Manager that will sweep running processes and boost memory to reduce load on your tablet.
    Regarding the touchscreen: 
    Clear all cache on the tablet: Settings > Storage > Cached Data. You should have the option to erase all the cached data here.
    Hard reset: While the tablet is on, press and hold the power button for 8+ seconds to force shut down. Turn the tablet back on and see if that helps.
    Factory reset: Make sure you backup any important files or information first. Settings > Backup & reset > Factory data reset.

  • Hp slate 7 voice tab android version update

    I just want to know if i update my tab's android version from jelly bean to kitkat then it will safe.&lt;br&gt;I mean can i update my tab to kitkat without any problem.&lt;br&gt;

    I did it yesterday, and my Slate 7 VoiceTab is absolutely unstable. 2 days ago the device was fully functional and now it's a piece of garbage. The system is unstable, resets itself, the connection via SIM is fading away, a lot of ASSERTs messages pop up, services randomly stop.
    And the worst thing is that after the update I can't revert KitKat back to JellyBean because of differences in boot loader.
    So, tommorow I'm going to call local HP office trying to replace this otherwise favourite device with another one.
